Trainer app?
Hi all, I was wondering if there existed, and if so what is the best, an app that would tell someome who doesn't know what they are doing what to do at the gym? To clarify..I go to Planet Fitness. I mostly do cardio, anf that's fine. But as I lose weight I would like to do more that I could but I have no clue how to use…

What do you do while working out?
I am not a hard core excerciser. I like to do the treadmill, bike, etc. For a long time, I did what other people do and I listened to music while walking/running, etc. But I found I got really bored, really fast and I would watch the clock. I am too visual. I need something to look at. My gym doesn't have tv's on the…

I am so lost.
I have been a MFP member for a long time. My profile picture shows me at my lightest while using MFP. I was going to the gym, losing weight, feeling great, I was still overweight mind you, but I was on the right track. I don't know what happened. I cannot pin point the cause of my downward spiral. Losing weight and getting…

Emotions and Fitness
I am not sure if this is the right category to post it, but here goes. Last year, I started going to the gym and I was super excited, totally motivated and I felt happy and great. Then, out of no where, I went to a spin class, like usual and just broke down crying on the bike. After class, the instructor brought me into…

seasonal depression
Does anyone suffer from this? Is it a real thing? I have lived in New England my whole life (about to turn 37). Winter never bothered me as much as it has this year. Last January is when I started MFP and going to the gym. I lost 20 pounds by June. I have since gained it back. I got really busy in the summer with work and…

knee pain
I have had a "bad knee" for a while now. I attributed it to my weight gain, since it never hurt before I started gaining weight. It always came and went. I never went to the dr or anything because it would hurt, and then go away the next day. Recently though, my left knee has been on fire. It isn't swollen, bruised or…

Success with exercise and little dieting?
I want to hear from people who have been succesful from mostly exercise and not so much "dieting". I am not talking about eating junk food and whatever they wanted, but just eating a normal diet but adding more exercise. I have cut way back on the junk I eat and I basically follow what I hate to eat based on my calorie…

Lean ground beef vs ground turkey vs ground chicken
Which do you use more of? Someone once told me that extra lean ground beef had less fat than ground turkey, unless you buy ground turkey BREAST. I guess in chilis and stews and stuff, you really wouldn't notice TOO much of a taste difference if you used ground chicken/turkey breast instead of beef. I want to make better…

Workout with a cold
I have a cold. Nothing major. No fever, just dull aches and some sinus pressure. A little sore throat. Nothing that will keep me in bed, but I am not 100%. would you still workout? I was planning on trying day 3, week 1 of my Couch 2 5k app. How many people here still push through when they dont feel well? My mind wants me…

which milk do you use for shakes/smoothies
I love my Syntrax Nectar protein powders but so far I only like it in 1% milk. I want to cut calories though. I tried it with water and gagged while drinking it. I need it to be thicker and with that milky texture. I could just suck up the calories and use the milk. I was looking at ALmond milk but it still has a lot of…

From nothing...to addicted
How many people here started off not only overweight, but also had no ambition to exercise...and then became addicted to it? Sometimes I feel like I am the most uncoordinated person around. I cannot finish even one "real" pushup, and cardio type moves that include more than one step (such as step classes) tend to frazzle…

where to put phone when running?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3...it is a heavy phone. I use it for my c25k app and all my music is on it. The trouble I am having is figuring out what to do with it when running! If I put it in my sweatshirt pocket, it bounces around, and I am afraid of it falling out. I can't stand holding it and when I try, my earphones fall…

MFP activity levels
When I first started MFP, I had my activity level set to "lightly active" because I had just started working in a classroom, and didn't think I would consider that very active. I am 3 weeks into this new job and I am often out of breath from chasing kids and struggling to get them to sit for lessons, etc. I work in a…

Plain Greek Yogurt
I see a lot of recipes call for plain Greek Yogurt, and alot of people use it as condiment instead of sour cream...does it really taste as good as sour cream? I mean, is it something you have to get used to, or is it delicious? I see it used as a topping for potatoes/sweet potatoes. I am intrigued, but dont want it to be…

None of my business
I know a lot of things are not my business, other people's fitness and weight loss being one of them. But there is this woman in my town who takes a super long walk every single day, rain, shine, freezing or sweltering out. I have seen her out walking for the last 8 years. This woman, however, is just about the same size…

Not me
So I am sort of new here, haven't posted much. I am 36, a mom of 3. I am 5'4" and at 204lbs now. I look through here and read the success stories and I SEE how hard work and perseverance works for so many people and I am amazed. But as amazed as I am, I can't think of how it could be me. No, not me. I will never be thin. I…
