Doctor's note for a standing desk?
I'm transitioning into a new position at work that will have me sitting most of the day. I'm concerned about not being active. I'd like to get a standing workstation, but we have a policy at work where you need a doctor's note. I know my doctor would be willing to write a note for me, but I really don't have any diagnosis…

Restarting - looking for friends, similar age (mid 30s) and goals, active, with open diaries
Hi! My name is Misty! I've been here for a long time, about 4 years ago I lost 70 lbs in a few months counting calories and doing the C25K program. Then a bunch of personal stuff happened, I got divorced and remarried. I haven't been as motivated and the weight has been creeping back on. I don't have much of a real life…

dieting alone
I've lost weight successfully in the past, four years ago I lost 70 lbs and have kept most of it off, but it is creeping back on. I did pretty well when I was still with my ex-husband, but now I'm living alone and having a hard time staying motivated. How do you hold yourself accountable? I am in a long distance…

Vegetarian Diet and the Flu
So kinda strange question. My boyfriend is in prison and he's a vegetarian. He eats the same thing every day, oatmeal for breakfast and beans and rice for lunch and supper, on Fridays he has fish. Once in a while he'll get a salad or a veggie burger. But that's really all they have to offer him. He's pretty healthy, he's…

Coming back
I've been pretty much away from my fitness pal since around thanksgiving. Before that I had lost 75 lbs. Since I've been I gained back 20, that seems very extreme to me. I haven't been eating very well, but 20 lbs seems like a ridiculous amount for just a couple months. I'm not sure what my question is, just want a little…

Running in the dark
Does anyone have any tips for running in the dark? I've given up running for the winter because it gets dark so early and evening is the only time I can go. But I miss it so much. What are the best lights for running? I live on a country road, there aren't many streetlights, I'd like to be able to see at least a little bit…

Cholesterol
The last time I saw the doctor was in april. I weighed 284 and my cholesterol was 225, trig 167, hdl 44, ldl 150. Now at this visit I weighed 251, my cholesterol is 209, trig 79, hdl 49, ldl 144. Is this good progress? I mean the cholesterol numbers, I know the weight is getting better.

Obese vs Morbidly obese
I keep hearing people say "I'm no longer morbidly obese" or "I'm stage 1 obese". Where do you find those numbers? I've found the bmi charts but they only go up to regular obese.

Online Bra Shopping
I'm frustrated with bra shopping, I can't seem to find a good quality bra in the right size. My cup size seems to be disproportionate to my band size, I need a 44D. Usually the biggest I can find in D is 38 or 40, after that they go to DD. Anyway, what's a good website to order bras? Does anyone have any tips?

When did you resize your ring?
I've lost 60 lbs so far, yay! But I still have a long way to go (at least 70 or 80 more pounds). My wedding ring is already falling off. I'm always losing it in the dryer when I'm throwing clothes in, or in the shower. How long did you wait before getting yours re-sized? Part of me is worried about the embarrassment of…

hands fell asleep while running?
I'm usually an evening runner, but the kids were gone so I decided to go this morning instead. About halfway through my hands started feeling really tingly like they were asleep. It moved up my arms and I finally had to take a short walking break to shake them out till they woke up. Is this normal?

What should my activity level be?
I've had my activity level set to sedentary for the past few months and I've been doing great, losing pretty well, and generally satisfied. But lately I'm so hungry all the time. I think I need to change it. I'm a phlebotomist in a small doctor's office. It's pretty slow most days, and I probably spend about 70% of my time…

My son wants to run with me
I didn't really tell my kids that I was running for a while. It's my quiet time in the evening after they go to bed. Well now my first 5k is coming up on Friday and I was telling someone else about it and my son overheard. Now he says he wants to do it with me. He's 7 years old, he's very active, and I think running would…

Two NSVs today!
First: I'm wearing a skirt I haven't worn for 10 years! I can't believe it was still at the bottom of my drawer. Second: I ordered a wrap for lunch (ham, guacamole, veggies) he asked if I wanted cheese and without even thinking said "no"! Cheese has always been my biggest weakness.

Question for people who do a lunch break workout?
I keeping reading about people running or working out on their lunch break. I can take a 45 minute lunch if I want to. But how do you do that without stinking when you get back to work? Do you not sweat?

Counting calories on a day out
Tomorrow we're taking the kids to Day out with Thomas (Thomas the train that is). I know I'll be walking around all day and probably burning tons of calories, which will probably make me super hungry. Should I log all this walking? Or should I just go over my calories?

What should I add to running?
I finished the couch to 5k program last week and I've really come to love running. I'm up to 37 minutes straight. But I feel a little stuck, I think I should add something else in on my off days. Does anyone have any recommendations. I can't go to the gym, it just isn't possible. I'd like something I can do at home inside…

Comfort Food
Before I started eating healthy my comfort food for when I was depressed was 2 packages of ramen noodles and 3 kraft singles. That's 970 calories! And I'd have it for a snack. No wonder I was 318 lbs. Now when I'm depressed I go for a run or jump on the trampoline. What was your comfort food? What do you do now?

My first 5k
I'm so excited and nervous for my first 5k. It's only 21 days away! That's 3 weeks! I have a bunch of questions. Right now I can only run 2 1/2 miles. Is it reasonable to think I can run 3.1 miles in 3 weeks? Should I take a rest day the day before? How far should I run the day before my rest day? What should I eat before?…

Protein Bars
I'm having a hard time eating a good breakfast in the morning lately. I know I feel better all morning when I start with some protein. Women please share your before and after pics 100+ lbs
It seems like every time I click on a before and after thread that says over 100 lbs lost it's always a guy. It's fantastic that you guys are losing so much, but I know there must be women out there who have lost that much too. I've lost 50 so far, and still at least 80 to go, and I could use some motivation. I'm sure many…

Running Shoes
I'm so nervous to go into a sporting goods store and ask for running shoes. They're gonna look at me (all 269 lbs) and say "are you sure you don't mean walking shoes?" But I know I need to get to new shoes. So what do I ask for? This is all new to me. Also the only place we have in town is Olympia Sports, do they do…

Search Feature
This is one of my biggest pet peeves on this forum. If someone asks a question it doesn't help to tell them to use the search feature. Some people want to start a new conversation about something, or they want to share their personal experiences. Not everyone wants to just search for and read information. Each of us have a…

Life after C25K
I'll be graduating form C25K in just a couple weeks (I'm on week 7 now). I'm really starting to love running and I'm looking forward to doing my own thing. I just had a few questions. How quickly should I increase my distance? I must be running slowly because I know I won't be doing an actual 5k by the end of this (more…

Progress Pics
Someone asked me for a pic the other day. I never get my picture taken, but I thought maybe I should be documenting this process. First I'll tell you my backstory. December of last year I reached my highest weight 318 lbs. I was drinking 2L of diet pepsi along with a couple energy drinks every day. I was so tired all the…
