Sugars
One thing I've noticed that seems to influence my weight gains or losses is sugar. Anyone else notice anything like this? Weeks I do my best to keep my sugar intake down (i.e. not eating sugary snacks, treats, etc.) I do great. Weeks I seem to eat more sugary stuff I don't do as well, even if I consume the same amount of…

Lost my job.. :(
I don't really post on here TOO often, but had some free time and was reading some posts to help keep me motivated. I was let go from my job a week before memorial day. It was a little rough for me at first, never going through something like that before, but anyways.. I was putting on and taking off the same few pounds…

I know this may sound stupid, but....
Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been on the message boards. I think I have used every excuse in the book when it comes to adding weights to my routine. I'm finally getting good walking in again, working my way back up to doing 5K's in the spring. I did 3 a few years ago, hoping to do at least that next year.…

Kettlebell Workouts
I was curious if anyone had any good experiences with using kettle bells routines to get a decent workout? How many do you use, just one or do use two? Thinking about starting up something at home using them but was looking for some recommendations other than just googling it. Thanks!!

FINALLY back to full duty!
I got into a car accident back in the beginning of January and injured my back. I've been on light/restricted duty at work due to a soft tissue injury in my back. Today I FINALLY was released back to full duty. I never thought I would say this but I'm actually looking forward to getting back on the treadmill then running…

Okay, now that I have THAT out of my system...
My weight loss has been stalled for a few months, along with being up ~6 pounds now from my lowest weight since being on MFP. The past few days I've sucked at tracking, binged a little on Halloween candy. I don't THINK I've went over TOO bad, but I have to just go back and seriously recheck my logging to keep myself…

I've put on 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks....
And I have no idea why. I've weighed everything, logged everthing. I've been in the 220's for a few months now and now I'm back up to 230. Too much sodium is getting old as an excuse...not going to quit but just getting frustrated. Thanks..

Ground beef vs. ground turkey
I was wondering about others preferences in regards to using ground beef vs. ground turkey when using it in meals? Is there really any big pros or cons using one over the other or is it just more of personal preference??

Need advice with weight training.....
Good afternoon!! I've been wanting to start some weight training in addition to my running but I'm not too sure where to start. I used to bench and do bicep curls in the past, but wanted to try and add more than just that so I don't get bored. Any ideas/tips/suggestions would be great!! Thanks everyone....

My first 5K in 2 weeks!!

It finally hit me yesterday....
I've been trying to figure out why I've been gaining & losing the same few pounds the past month or so and I think I finally figured out what the problem is yesterday. I've been eating salami sandwiches for lunch almost daily for lunch at work. My wife got the salami from the deli at the grocery store so I was using the NI…

Need some advice please
Good morning! If anyone can look at my diaries and give me some advice I'd appreciate it! I've been losing and gaining the same few pounds for over 6 weeks now & I think I've out used 'too much sodium' at this point. I'm happy with my weight loss so far but the up & down if the same few pounds is wearing in me. I'm heading…

I need a little help getting past my mindset...
I know this is going to sound TOTALLY dumb, but I know I have to, and I do want to start weight training, but I keep thinking, for some reason, that I'm getting 'too old' to see any real results. I turn 44 this month. I don't know why I feel this way, but its keeping me from getting really motivated to start. I appreciate…

Running without stopping question...
I'm finally doing pretty well running and am feeling pretty good about myself after my runs. I know as I lose weight I will only get better, and I'm focusing on improving my times right now vs. if I come in last. BUT the one thing that bugs me a bit is being able to run longer distances without stopping and walking…

Am I just out of touch with prices??
I went tie shopping over the weekend and quite a few of the ties I came across were ~$50 or so. Is that how much ties go for now or is that a little high? It has been quite a while since I bought one but wasn't sure if I was that out of touch with prices on ties.

I'm of ideal weight!!!
...for someone who is 6'6". Was looking at a chart for ideal weights for my height. If I was 6'6", I would be fine. Still aways to go since growing 10" in height is out of the question...

Trying not to get discouraged....
I'm doing my best not to let the scale bother me because I understand that it's not the ONLY to track your progress, but in the past several weeks I've lost nothing...actually put a bit over 2 pounds in. I've tried changing my calorie intake, decreasing and increasing. I'm open to suggestions and my diary is open....

Kettlebell workouts
I was wondering if anyone uses kettlebells to work out at home? I have a small gym at work...treadmill, bench weights, etc. but I was thinking of buying a couple kettlebells to do some stuff at home, just to make it easier to get SOME weight training in at home. Any ideas, suggestions, advice, etc.??

Compression sleeves
Hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but what is the purpose of compression sleeves? Are they to keep your arms warm n cooler days instead of wearing a jacket? I've seen them but wasn't too sure what they were for...

Found 2 pairs of pants buried in a closet....
Found 2 pairs of pants tonight that I honestly don't remember burying in the back of a closet. One pair is now super big in the waist. The other pair feels as if I went into a store today and bought them they fit so well!! I now just have to get a dress shirt & tie to go with them. They are dress pants, medium grey in…

I was comparing my run time last night to others....
...and I realized I improved my previous best by 1:09!! I couldn't believe it at first since I was running in 90+ degree heat, but I'll take it!!

After tucking in my shirt...
I was retucking my shirt in at work and went to buckle my belt back up when I realized that I was finally down to the last hole on my belt. I don't think I have ever had that happen before!! WOOHOO!! Sorry, something kinda small but was amazed it happened...

I really should have known better by now....
My wife & I were trying to figure out where to go out to dinner and ended up at TGI Friday's. Unfortunately i didn't have time to check the nutrition info but I THOUGHT these chicken skewers would have been ~800 calories or a little bit less but I was greatly wrong. 1330 calories and over 4700mg of sodium later, I'm over…

How often do you run??
I was just curious how often or how many days a week others run? Also, does no one run more than once a day, like in the morning and evening? Thanks in advance!!

5K to 10K
For those who run 10K's or longer, at what point did you start training for 10K's? Waist just when you felt ready or did you run 5K's for a period of time?

Did my first 5K!!
Ran my first 5K today!! Not an "official" race, but ran 3.1 miles today, outside, literally in 28+ years (last time I ran even 3 miles outside was my sophomore year in high school in cross country!). Ran it in 37 min 10 sec when I was expecting around 45 minutes or so....Woohoo!!!!

Sweat Pants
Hope this question doesn't sound TOO dumb, but 'back in the day' when I ran in high school all I remember is just regular old cotton type sweat pants. Now I see there are compression shorts, compression pants and a handful of other choices. All I really want is something I can wear to keep me warm on cooler or colder days…
