Weight loss surgery and the 1,200 calorie stigma
This is more of a hypothetical question. I see a lot of talk on here and the internet regarding the "dangers" of going below 1,200 calories. That topic in of itself has been done to death. I am not taking the position of suggesting anyone go below that amount. At the same time though, I question it's genesis. We see people…

A question regarding part time low carb to control hunger
Tough to post this question in specific forums because this applies to both types of diets at once. I was wondering you know, the only thing I have ever found to control my appetite is eating low carb. If I have just bacon or eggs for breakfast I really am not very hunger until lunch or later. If I have a no or low carb…

The cycle continues; when will it stop?
I am back again, and a little down today. I have been fighting my obesity now for 15 years. Several times I have lost 20 only to gain it back. I been back and forth with low carb, more times than I can remember. At least I am not at my all time high of 342 pounds from back in 2008. I am 324 now, but I need to lose 100…

Does anyone else eat too much on the first day of Atkins?
My loss of appetite just kicked in on day two. Very happy about that. They say its takes about 48 hours before your appetite drops. But I was wondering, what about that first day like I had yesterday? I must have eaten almost 2,500 calories of protein.

Anyone else amazed at the loss of appetite?
I am back on low carb and I swear I cannot go off again. When I am not on low carb I am constantly hungry. When I am on low or no carbs I feel like Ive had weight loss surgery.

Do you need to go over by 3,500 to GAIN weight too?
Always confused about this. I understand you need to create a deficit of 3,500 from your TDEE over the course of several days to lose one pound. In order to gain weight, does the same apply in reverse? You need 2,500 ABOVE your TDEE to gain eight? It certainly does not seem that way. It seems like even 1,000 above your…

Drive Thru fast Food Addiction
There is a bit of psychology I want to discuss about this. Yes I know you can go through the drive thru and get salads or coffee, but this is not about those people. Does anyone else suffer from drive thru fast food addiction? Or better yet, an "instant hot food" addiction. Here I am, trying to lose weight, and justifying…

Anyone Had Some Success Combining Weight Loss Programs?
When i say programs I mean diet types, etc. In particular, i was thinking of combining Intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast, which controls my hunger throughout the day), Low carb lunch (which also helps with hunger) and a regular meal of carbs at night, all while counting calories here on myfitnesspal and drinking…

Best site to figure out recommened calories per day TDEE
I am 44 years old, male. 6'6" tall and 320 pounds. I have plugged this into 3 different sites setting everything as sedentary or lightly active. Sometimes I get 3,400 calories to maintain my weight. Sometimes I get 2,700 calories. Which is more accurate? Is there a site that has the most accurate information and one to…

I did some stats on two months Beginning weight: 321 Ending weight: 318 Total calories consumed 138,765 Total calories average per day: 2,312 Why have a only lost 3 pounds? I have been at 318 for weeks now. I should be closer to 315 or 314. With an average of 2312 I am at least 300 or 400 under the calories I need to…

An argument with a person in shape = no way to win
I recently got into an argument with my co-worker. He is young, 27, and in good shape. He basically eats rabbit food, which is fine. We got into a discussion and he started telling me that when you eat is more important than what you eat and the calories. He told me you should never eat before going to bed.(which has been…

I Know a LOT about Weight Loss but Can't Lose Weight
This is my Mission Statement. I have had it. I know so much about weight loss, it is scary. This struggle has lasted 10 years. I offer great advice. I never tell someone "that wont work" because I feel there is no blueprint, and what works for you might not work for others. I feel that even though fad diets are still fad…

Need Some Inspiration
I know, I know. I am supposed to inspire myself. In 2011 I hit my worst, 342 pounds. Back in August of 2013 I finally had enough and by October of 2013 was down to 310, and I was logging into Myfitnesspal every day. The holidays came, and skipping Myfitnesspal once or twice, then it became a whole week, now I am not on…

Who DOES NOT crave sweets and prefers salty stuff?
It seems everyone I know has a sweet tooth. Is there anyone else out there like me who prefers some salted buttered popcorn or a bag of potato chips over sweets? If so, do you feel we have an added advantage built in because we don't crave sugar as much? Sugar is only a trigger for me when I use it to cook. When I cook…

Looking for the 5 - 10 Minute a Day Exercise for the Obese
I have a nice workout mat at home and a big living room to do it in. I want to start exercising. I don;t want to spend 30 minutes exercising. I don't mind some high intensity, but being obese, I need to be careful. Does anyone know of a site with pictures and diagrams for a 5 or 10 minute Yoga like workout that will be…

Over-Value Exercise in Weight Loss? And More Stuff.
Total brain dump here, so bare with me. I have been struggling with my weight loss for 10 years now. I finally am starting to have some real success. I have spent countless hours researching and studying and really only recently came to the conclusion that exercise has very little to do with weight loss. Now before…

Being Obsessive = Only Way to Truely Succeed
I am off to a good start so far, but there is one thing I have noticed that has kept me successful so far. I am constantly "thinking" about what I am eating and what I am going to eat every second of every day. It has become my obsession. I guess you can say this is a good thing but this is till food. I am still obsessed…

Pretend your calorie limit is your team record
If you like sports, I found a good motivational tool. Nine days in, my record is 5-4. Try to update it daily in your notes section. Try to have a winning record. Make it a baseball 162 or basketball 82 game season.
