Do I tell her she's gaining?
I have a family member who lost a lot of weight last year. At that time, she told me to let her know if she started gaining again. Well, she's gaining again. Do I dare say anything? Doubt she'll take it well and it probably won't change her ways. What to do, what to do???

How do you clean house?

RAD anyone?
Is anyone familiar with Reactive Attachment Disorder? I'm starting to learn about it and wonder how common it is. I belong to a RAD facebook group and it seems to be quite common but maybe because it's all I read concerning foster care/adoption.

How to eat 1200 cals
What do you think about this idea: Work backwards. Know what you are having for dinner and log it in the morning. Save perhaps another 250 cals for a safety net for after dinner snacking. This way, you know how many cals you can consume for breakfast and lunch. I'm going to try it and see how it goes. I'm having a hard…

Should thighs rub?
Should they or shouldn't they? Is it normal for them to touch or rub when you walk or run? Did your thighs stop rubbing when you lost weight? Is it a result of being overweight or just normal on some people?

What are your binge day calories?
So on a nice binge day, how many calories do you consume? When I started MFP, it was 2800. Now that I'm better at this it's 2300. How about you?

wealth vs poverty...which are you?
I found #1 especially interesting... 1. 70% of wealthy eat less than 300 junk food calories per day. 97% of poor people eat more than 300 junk food calories per day. http://www.daveramsey.com/blog/20-things-the-rich-do-every-day Oh and of course this one... 3. 76% of wealthy exercise aerobically four days a week. 23% of…

City folks are overwhelmingly thin
I made an interesting observation this weekend. We drove into the city yesterday; Chicago. We were in the neighborhoods of Wicker Park and Old Town (near north). I myself live in the suburbs. I noticed people were on foot; out and about. I noticed how difficult it was to drive and park a car there. But here's my most…

Is appetite on a spectrum?
I know there's emotional eating but I'm talking about appetite. I have been around people where we eat the same food at the same time. My friend is about 50 lbs overweight. She becomes hungry about 1-2 hrs before me. Her stomach is actually growling. I am at maintenance. I've also spent time with people who are thinner…

stupid question?
I use MFP on my laptop as well as my iphone. I like the iphone app because when I type a food in the search bar, the drop down menu brings up foods I have already logged previously. Can the regular non-mobile app do this too? If so, how do I configure/find that? Thanks in advance!

If you ate what you wanted....
How many calories a day would you eat? What would you eat? I'd have McDonald's for breakfast; Sausage, egg, bacon, cheese biscuit, hash brown, OJ which is 820 cals A Jimmy John's Beach Club and Coke for lunch which is 1075 Maybe a half bag of gummy worms which is about 500 Dinner I'd skip but I would have wine or beer…

Are you keeping it off?
To those of you who've been thin before 40 and them bam, metabolism changes, maybe appetite increases and voila, weight goes on. Are you keeping if off? What are your strategies? I've stopped logging a few times and gained 5-7 lbs within a few months. I know I will have to be mindful of my caloric intake the rest of my…

Is it just me or does anyone else detest loud chewers? Crackers and chips seem to be the worst. I fully admit I have issues with it. Can't stand it.

Is your midsection larger now?
I've noticed that my waistline is a few inches larger at the same weight now that I am almost 50. How about everyone else and can we get rid of it or not? You hear about clean eating and such but is this just here to stay because of redistribution?
-
Heavier after the weekend?
Do you weigh more after the weekend or is it just me? I weigh an average of 2 lbs more on Monday. As the days pass and usually by Thursday, my weight is back down. I do eat about 1,500 cals more on the weekends and probably consume more salt so I guess it's water weight.

Do we marry within our socio-economic class?
I have a pretty strong belief that girls marry guys like their fathers. Maybe boys marry girls like their mothers. But I have a stronger belief and have even observed how we stay pretty much within our socio-economic class. I've seen it over and over. Facebook is interesting in that regard. As we get older, we can see how…

How do thin people eat?
I have been of normal weight all of my life and then I hit my 40's and had to start monitoring. I gained 20 lbs and realized that if I didn't get a grip, it would keep going. Anyway, I'd agree with most if not all of this except I now have to keep the occasional treats out of the house; no more peanut butter cups, etc. My…

Protein powder is helping me
I have UC. I'm in remission and on Lialda and 6MP. I've been taking protein powder for two weeks and my bowels have calmed considerably. I drink one to two glasses per day. A fellow nurse told me it's the glutamine. I read about Glutamine on Wikipedia and here's a portion: Studies link glutamine-enriched diets with…

Is shopping in bulk ok for a dieter?
I had a discussion with a friend last night about this (a parent without a weight problem but has a child that is trying to lose). I think absolutely not because there's a neverending supply of food. Yes, it may be less expensive and you get more but isn't this one of the reasons we are in the pickle we're in?????

weight loss equation for 5'3 female, 180 lbs???
I am a nurse and have a female client who is 5'3" and about 180 lbs. She is a quadriplegic thus has a sedentary lifestyle. She wishes to reduce her weight to 130. I know how to calculate her RMR; which is her healthy body weight x 10, then multiply that by 1.3 (sedentary lifestyle). The result is 1690 cals per day. THAT is…

RANT: parents who criticize heavy kids
