How do you clean house?

Do you stick to a schedule or do you clean as needed and how do you doll out the tasks to teens? I need some new ideas and I don't want to get a cleaning lady.

We clean on Saturday mornings, some jobs only get done every second week or as needed (dusting the collectibles is on an as needs basis, as it depends on how the weather's been and if we had doors and windows open). No teens to dole out to.

We live in an apartment in Rome, Italy. I clean it myself. I have 2 cleaning days a week. Every week and a half I vacuum and dust, clean the bathrooms, and do the kitchen floor. The other days I do what needs doing--windows, cupboards, above the stovetop, laundry, organizing closets etc. It's endless. I have 3 grown sons--good luck getting them to help. I've been told it's "my job" otherwise I'd have nothing else to do. I also do the shopping, and cook everything from scratch. I must admit that after starting MFP two years ago, I'm alot faster at it. :\

I've done it all different ways, but cleaning a different area of the house (for about 30-45 minutes) on a rotation every day kept it cleanest. Right now I'm trying to get back on that same kind of schedule. As needed cleaning makes me feel like I'm never caught up.

There are certain things I have on a reminder schedule (like cleaning the fridge, shampooing the carpet, cleaning the windows, etc) but for everyday tidying up... I HATE to clean, so I just try to stay on top of it by cleaning for at least 15m a day. Theres always something that needs to be done, so those 15m keeps everything in line without having to resort to dedicating a whole day or even a whole hour to cleaning.

For the most part...like, Im looking around my apartment as I say this and am thinking, you are such a liar LMFAO! But okay, thats the *plan*. As far as doling out responsibilities...Im pretty lax. When kiddo complains she needs laundry done, I tell her to do it herself. If she makes something in the kitchen, I tell her to get back in there and wash up the dishes. So nothing set really...just a matter of, dont complain about something when you can do it yourself.

Oddly, she doesnt complain that much nowadays.

Oh, nearly forgot... FlyLady... I used that to establish some habits to help me actually keep the place tidy. Its a lot to do, too many reminders and such...but it helped me develop good habits to get from going into a panic if someone wanted to come over, to being able to only have to tidy up a little bit since my home stays relatively clean nowadays.

I'm a neat freak so I'm always cleaning. I do the normal routine daily and pick bigger projects once a week. But it's easy for me cuz I'm home all day. My kiddo is young but cleans his own room

I have a very nice lady that shows up on Friday while I'm at work...when I get home it's done! I'm actually a neat freak too and end up cleaning before she comes.

I have a three year old and two dogs. I don't have a dishwasher. I do some type of cleaning (vacuum, dust, pick up toys, wipe off random handprints, wash dishes) every day. Bathroom stuff and kitchen appliances get cleaned on weekends. Laundry is done whenever needed.

Usually twice a week for a decent whole-house pickup, vacuuming at least once a week. Kitchen is almost daily depending on how much I've been cooking.

I adopt a clean as I go routine. If I make a mess I clean it there and then. My kitchen never gets dirty or messy because I clean it whilst I cook. After cooking, all the dishes have been washed and either put away or put in the dishwasher before I eat my meal. Vacuuming, dusting, tiding etc are everyday chores, as is cleaning the bathroom. Bigger chores are as and when they need doing. I like tidy.
  • If the teens dont help to clean then dont cook em dinner but good luck with that

I follow this routine because I'm a very bad procrastinator:

    Sheets get changed on Sunday
Wash the sheets, table cloths etc on Tuesday
    Wash towels on Wednesday
    Clothes all the other days.
I fold as I get them off the line and put them away straight away
    Kitchen gets cleaned during cooking.
Cooking dishes are loaded into the dishwasher before we eat, eaten dishes are loaded in straight away, then dishwasher is run.
Walls get wiped when I see marks,
Full pick up etc every morning before leaving the house - i set a timer and the kids have a "super duper fast clean up" trying to beat the timer lol. It's hilarious
    - lawns are mown weekly in summer, biweekly in winter
    - dusting, windows, window tracks, spring cleaning stuff is done the first weekend a month,
    - Vacuuming is done daily thanks to my roomba
    - I mop about twice a week
