Fat Content of Spaghetti Squash?
I had spaghetti squash for dinner tonight. I am trying to log it but I'm seeing a few entries in the database that show 17 grams of fat for 2.5 cups of cooked spaghetti squash (I microwaved it for ten minutes and ate it just as it was). That seems pretty steep for a cooked veggie. Anyone know if that's right?

Calories burned washing dishes - for hours
Yesterday I was helping my son's boy scout troop clean out their storage trailer because they had a moisture problem that caused a lot of items to become moldy. I was on dish duty, and I literally washed and dried cookware, utensils, etc for 3 hours. I didn't think I was really burning a lot of calories because I was more…

Ab exercises that don't involve the floor?
Hoping to come across a certified trainer here. Does anyone know of good ab exercises that don't involve getting down on the floor? For a little background, I have two very distinct areas in my lower back that give me some intense pain when they are pressed on, including when laying down on any hard surface (even with a…

Calculating calories in homemade chicken stock
Anyone know how to calculate calories on homemade chicken stock? I used the bones (carcass) and any leftover meat of a Perdue Oven Stuffer Roaster to make the stock in about 4-5 quarts of water. No salt was added. I strained the liquid and I'm cooling it so I can skim off any fat once it's at the top of the container. The…

Good starting weight for kettle bells?
I bought myself an adjustable kettle bell. With the empty spacer discs, it's 20 lbs. I bought four 5 lb weights to put on it, but I've only added two of those so far, making the kettle bell 30 lbs to start. I was reading somewhere on the message boards that it's better to start with a challenging weight, and I guess that…

PB2 - I think I'm in love
Someone at work just told me about PB2. I love peanut butter on apples but I don't usually have the room in my macros for the peanut butter. I finally found PB2 in my supermarket this morning and I think I had a tongue-gasm after tasting it. I'm in peanut butter love! I just wish there weren't so many incorrect entries for…

Questions about bread machines
Hi all - I would appreciate any input from those of you who use bread machines. Do you find that bread made in a bread machine is healthier or has less sodium than packaged bread you can buy at the store? I am watching my sodium intake and most packaged breads (along with most processed foods) are higher in sodium than I'd…

Steel Cut Oats - question
For those of you who are fans of steel cut oats, can someone let me know if it's possible to make up a larger batch and keep it in the fridge or freezer, and if you can freeze a batch, would you thaw it in the microwave? I tried steel cut oats for the first time this morning and I really like them but I wouldn't have much…

MFP is suggesting 1200 calories now?
Looking for a little advice here. I started my healthy eating/weight loss in April of this year. My starting weight was 288 lbs and I'm 5;5" and 46 years old. I set my starting calories at 1600 a day because my family doctor said 1600-1800 would be a good goal for now (and it's worked well for me in the past as far as…

Calories burned walking using heart rate as a guide?
I'm on vacation, and after logging the food I ate today, I felt like I owed it to myself to use the hotel's fitness room and get a quick walk in. I walked for 20 minutes at 3 mph, and the heart rate monitor on the treadmill had my heart rate around 156 for the better part of my walk. Is there a way to figure out how many…

Walking at 3.8 mph
When I walk, I have been clocking myself at 38 minutes for a 2.5 mile walk. I think that puts me somewhere near the 3.8 mph range. I'm sure there are other people who walk at this pace, so I'm hoping someone can tell me how they log that activity. In the exercise database, the options for speed are 3 mph, 3.5 mph and 4 mph…

Brussels sprouts in the oven
A day or two ago, someone had posted a recipe for making Brussels sprouts in the oven. Did anyone happen to catch the recipe? If so, can you send it to me? I'm not a huge fan of the little cabbages but if I can find a way to make them tastier, I'm all about giving it a shot! Thanks!

turkey neck?
Okay, you know how when you've been heavy your whole life and you lose a bunch of weight and sometimes you end up with hangy baggy skin? I know some exercise can help with toning your arms and legs, etc, but what about your neck? Does anyone have any exercises that can help prevent turkey neck?

Sauteed spinach, garlic and mushrooms
Does anyone have a good recipe for this? The one I use calls for about 4 Tbs of olive oil and while I don't mind olive oil, it's a lot of oil. Has anyone tried to make something like with a really good nonstick pan and if so, how does the dish turn out? Thanks!

Feet feel like they are furning after walking
Does anyone else experience this? It only happens when I've been walking, which is usually done on the asphalt bike path behind my house. I'm guessing that my feet are sliding a little inside my sneakers and it's causing enough friction to eventually feel like burning. My feet continue to sting long after I'm done walking…

Bump?
What does "bump" mean? I keep seeing it on the Recipe message board. I'm guessing it's a way to save a recipe...if that's correct can someone tell me how to do that? Thanks!

rule of thumb for pizza
Does anyone have a rule of thumb they use for pizza bought at a regular local pizzeria? Since all pizza shops vary to a degree, I'm trying to figure out the average calories (and fat) for a single slice of plain pizza with red sauce. Or for white pizza with broccoli. Is there a good way to figure that one out?

Is there some kind of My Fitness Pal dictionary that explains all the acronyms I see on the message boards? Some I can figure out on my own, but others completely baffle me.

Recommendations for decent scale
I'm pretty sure my scale is possessed by demons and badly in need of an exorcism - either that or I need a new one. Any recommendations for a scale that keeps it's accuracy? It seems like the only decent scales are in doctor's offices because they can be balanced regularly.

Strength Training Tracker
Hi everyone - I'm new to MFP and I'm wondering how the Strength Training Tracker works. It doesn't seem to show any calories burned but is that because the strength training is meant to just build muscle? Wouldn't you still burn calories doing the strength building? Just curious. Thanks!
