What pushes you?
I lost 30 lbs is a slow but effective process by watching how much I eat and a fairly rigorous training program. I was really enjoying myself until I started getting pain in my left shoulder in June. So I went to the doctor and as it turns out it's tendonitis/shoulder impingement. Being that its typically caused by overuse…

Squats and running. Can't I do both?
I like lifting weights. I try to lift in the 3-6 rep range. But I just hurt my shoulder, sidelining me for a while. So I decided to get onto a short squat program. But at the same time I want to start training for a 10k in 3 weeks. But I don't want to stop lifting. can't I do both?

Why do you do it?
I've been trying to review the reasons why I've been trying to stay fit and this is what I've come up with. - For my own health - I just feel better, like I can do more things with more energy. - Because I have nothing else better to do - To help seal up any insecurities about myself - To keep myself busy and distract…

a little advice
daughters, listen to your mothers. don't just succumb to the wishes of your brothers. take a step back, take a look at one another. you need to know the difference between a father and a lover.

well i'm not new here nor am i looking to decrease weight dramatically. I'm looking to lose about 10lbs starting some time next month. I figure that 10 lbs within about 2 months is super reasonable and it also gives me time to keep muscle that i've earned. probably be at maintenance level by the end of may.. anyone wanna…

20lbs in 5 months
i've posted here before but I've I'm just really proud. I went from 176lbs to 156lbs. I know its not much but i got to 155lbs in early november, and decided to kept the weight-loss there so I don't lose some hard earned muscle.. and it's paid off! I'm 156lbs but I lift as much as i did when I was 170lbs. thats where the…

5 months, 20lbs off with pics!
Two photos here. The top one being from a very strong calorie deficit that helped me get down 21lbs. Which was fine, but I didn't want to be skinny I wanted to be fit. So I introduced calories gradually (100 additional per week) and began lifting a little heavier. The result after 3 months is 1 additional pound, but a…

Maintaining is hard work.
You can't exactly under-eat because you'd lose weight but of course you can't over-eat because then you'd gain. And there's no additional caloric intake so you're not getting bigger at the gym either. It's like a weight-control limbo... a balancing act. Am I the only one?

My mind is boggled.
I got where I wanted to go (from 176lbs to 155lbs) so I decided to increase calories. I have been adding an addional 100-130 calories a day for the past 4 weeks. I was consuming less than 1800 calories beforehand, and now I am consuming close to 2100 calories. Before, I was taking in less than 170g of carbs now I'm eating…

Reverse Dieting Questions
I've been on a calorie deficit for about 11 weeks now. I've gone down 17-20lbs from 176-178lbs to 155-158lbs. The weight loss has really slowed down family parties have kind of slowed my progress. No complaints there really. I've been at this weight for about 2 weeks, which is the longest I've stayed at since I began the…

Progress so far
This is my progress through 8 weeks. On the left is me during late August. At that point I was exercising but I wasn't really watching what I eat. Strength was my goal, and I was the strongest I'd ever been. I felt strong, and I thought that that was what I wanted but even though I was getting stronger, I still didn't feel…

Frustrating
I am about 2.5 weeks into a calorie deficit. I usually weigh myself every Thursday. So by week 2, I went from 175 to 167. I spent the weekend (2 days) away and having fun with my friends. I woke up at 173. It's frustrating that all 2 weeks work can be undone in 2 days. Now what?
