one of my problems for the olympic lifts is that i dont push my hip through all the way on the second pull so i don't get a large enough pop up. but when i do i hit my pelvis, kinda hard. is this a problem for anyone else or am i doing something wrong here.

I get the impression that is pretty common. Most high-end weightlifting coaches talk about standing tall with the bar before you initiate the second pull and trying to maintain a vertical bar path through the pull. I think if you're slamming your hips as a part of the second pull, you might not be doinitrite.

**caveat: not an oly lifter really**

IMO, the push through with the hips is a part of the first pull, and the end of the hip drive comes just *before* the second pull (the calves and traps). I don't know if any of that is helpful.

I'd look into the Strong360 community run by JTS; they have some very knowledgeable weightlifting coaches there. You won't find a ton of that here. Even Fitocracy would be better than MFP for that kind of advice.
