I Used To Be Fat on MTV
Great episode last night to kick off new season. This show motivated me to start losing weight last February. I decided I would pay anything for a personal trainer for one month, then go on my own. Anyone see it? Anyone like these shows? Losing It with Jillian Michaels is another good one, but I haven't seen it in a while.

New job, change calories?
After laying around on my *kitten* for the past 3 months I'm starting a job where I'll be working 10 hour days or more. I'm thinking of laying off the workouts (4000 calories a week on average) and seeing how the increased activity changes my bmr. I'm at 1,800/day now and need to lose 40 more pounds. I'm assuming this job…

Self induced plateau
It's true. I've been at the same weight for three months. As soon as I'm about to break into another level of weight loss, I eat donuts, oreos, cinnamon rolls, or something stupid. It's like I don't want to give it up, but making a few different choices a week will make the pounds start to shed again. Basically I'm…

Depression.
After a week with a cold and throwing my back out, and subsequently not exercising, now I'm in a total funk. Yes, I've been to the gym, but not for my usual high impact, high heart rate workout. It has been low and slow, and each day harder not to over eat. I had a chocolate chip cookie and panda express today, but I'm…

NSV - resting heart rate!!!!
Wow. Last night while surfing the 'net (reading MFP stuff of course) I noticed my pulse beating very slow, like the same speed as the seconds clock on my macbook. I timed it. 60bpm!!! Then I did it again: 56bpm!!! When I started this journey exactly 2 months ago it was 118. Test yours today! It's a significant measure of…

Addicted to Food on OWN
Anyone watching? The latest in what will be a long run of fat-shows. I have a feeling every network will have one by next year.

Plateau this soon?? FRUSTRATED!!!
Week 7 and still 1.5 pounds above my weight from 3 weeks ago, and I'm still 60 pounds overweight. Is this my final weight? Is my body happy here? I'm working my *kitten* off at the gym and eating my calories. I'm stuck at the same weight as when I ate like a pig and did nothing. What the hell!!!!!! Why do some people lose…

Bay to Breakers 2011
Anyone doing it? 5,000 entries left, 100th anniversary. I'm seriously considering it, but I'm still not ready. Got about a month and a half to train. FYI - it's 12K, lots of weird people and costumes and nakedness (most of whom you wish weren't).

It works. Actually.
Okay, I did a little math on my calories over the last week: Eaten: 3/21-3/27 1812 2116 2210 1751 2221 2370 2158 Total: 14638 Exercise: -4528 Net cals for week: 10110 BMR plus activity is about 2700/day, 18900/week 18900-10110=8790 deficit 8790 divided by 3500 (one pound) = 2.51 pounds Starting weight: 290.4 End of week:…

Food diary hiders....Why?
I'm thinking of deleting my friends who hide their food diary. Especially those who are losing an amazing amount of weight but we can't see what they're eating. It's just not fair because they could be doing something unhealthy, and I'm putting my diary out there for even non-friends to see (I think). Is there something…

Is protein powder necessary?...
Tom Venuto compares whey protein to real food. Very interesting. http://www.maxmusclereviews.com/articles/supplements/protein-supplements-vs-protein-foods.html Do we need whey protein? What's the point, other than convenience? Tell me what you think.

Lack of family support...
My family has hurt my weight loss goals so much that now I don't even share with them what I'm doing. Whether they're fat and enabling, or skinny and condescending, my family drives me nuts and I knew I would have to confront this sooner or later. My little brother (6 pack) has a completely different view of life. His…

Family support (or lack thereof)...

This broke my heart...
I just watched the story of 15 year-old, 460 pound Georgia Davis who lost 200 pounds. Now at 17, she weighs 560: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/feb/24/when-weight-becomes-class-issue All I can say is when you change your weight, change your environment as well. She went home to her obese "mum" and fell into old…

HEAVY fans, unite! New episode, tonight!
Hey, I made a rhyme. =o] Haven't watched it yet, but it looks good. That little guy is obese, and he's at my goal weight. Haha. BTW, what happened to "I Used To Be Fat" on MTV? Is it over?

Another great new episode of HEAVY
I almost blew it off. I've been watching less and less TV. The girl riding her mom's bike 350 miles home made my eyeballs sweat a little. What a transformation. Good show.

Cholesterol good for you? Animal fat too?
Just watched "Fathead" documentary by Tom Naughton. It's worth a look. I don't think it's necessarily pro ketosis as much as showing the actual data about whether cholesterol and animal fat cause heart disease.

Weird calorie trends...30 day report
I'm posting a view of my 30 day calorie report I find kind of interesting (and I'm a nerd). I'm supposed to be eating around 2150 a day. It seems like I start low and progress upward lately, like my body really wants to blast through the limit and pig out, then I compensate back down again. Does anyone see similar "ramps"…

I Used To Be Fat Reunion...
What a let down! Quite a few of these kids put back on 20-30 pounds. I guess it's true losing the weight won't fix your insides. They need MFP!!!

HEAVY on A&E last night...
Did anyone see Heavy last night? That show and I Used To Be Fat are what motivated me to start changing my life. Maybe it's shallow, but it's true. I decided I was willing to pay a trainer for 3-4 months to help me get in shape and it would still be cheaper than surgery. Anyway, there were two episodes; one with a 19…

Chrom Pic question: can it wear off?
Can't stop thinking about food today. I've been resisting for the most part, but it's just a matter of time before I rationalize! And my day has been good - I've had quality calories. Took my chromium pic. and all other supps. Just feel like having chocolate and chinese food and something blended at Starbucks. This sucks.…

Lost 15 pounds. Crept under the 300 mark. Happy.
Thanks to mfp and reading all your stories, especially all the 100 pounders (where else is there so many?), I've logged my calories for 3 weeks and loved every day of it. Food is fuel, and eating is throwing lean, hard oak into the furnace. My confidence is up. My work is easier, and I work longer. I bend down and pick…

Down 8 pounds, and a small victory...
So... I'm in San Antonio, 7th fattest city in the nation, on my first business trip since starting mfp. It's a ROUGH day, very stressful, don't think I'll finish in time to fly home, blah, blah, blah. The stuff that makes me REWARD myself with calories. I'm driving around looking for Home Depot and what do I see? Texas…

Is my daily calorie goal too high?
I lost 7 pounds, then gained 2 my second week. About me: male, sw 312, daily calorie goal 2170. When I workout, I eat about half my workout calories or less. My dairy is public if you want to check it out. Maybe I'm estimating too high on the workouts and too low on foods?

Twinlab Ripped Fuel reaction
Has anyone tried this stuff? My trainer put me on a whole pile of supplements, and this one seems to be making me jittery and tight-chested. I'm definitely quitting, but wanted to hear if anyone else has tried it.
