I lost 7 pounds, then gained 2 my second week.

About me: male, sw 312, daily calorie goal 2170. When I workout, I eat about half my workout calories or less. My dairy is public if you want to check it out. Maybe I'm estimating too high on the workouts and too low on foods?

I can't see your diary (but that could just be me) but regarding workouts I would recommend that you invest in a Heart Rate Monitor and us e what it says as your calories burned cuont

for food - measure or weigh everything as you are starting out (and I need to remind myself to do this too!) once you have been doing this a while you will be able to eyeball measurements

It's called a fluctuation. The maximum amount of weight loss MFP will set for you is 2lbs/week. So, your daily intake should reflect that. You've lost 7 in one week. Your body is just readjusting to the new weight. If you think about it, it's still a net loss of 5lbs in a week. You shouldn't try to make it faster. Trust me, the bigger you are, the more you'll lose. Plus the initial phase of weight loss is almost always water weight, so after about your first 20 pounds, that's when your body will start to lose a bit slower, but it'll be losing fat calories.

Your body won't constantly lose weight all the time, otherwise that's cause for a problem which would require medical intervention. Don't worry, you're just starting out, so as you get used to your body's weight loss, you'll understand how it works more and more. I know when I'm going to fluctuate and when my weight loss is going to stall. I even know for how long the stall/fluctuation period will last. Give it time and have plenty of patience. I can't stress the latter enough.

Plus, you have a community here to support you, should you require it. Stay positive and stay motivated.
