Nutrition with one kidney
How much should this affect someone's diet? How much protein should someone with around 60% of normal kidney function have? Is it dangerous for them to do too much exercise? I know sodium needs to be kept to a minimum, and caffeine too, but the doctors don't seem to worry about anything else.

Women who put on muscle fast
I get terribly fed up with being told women don't bulk up, or women don't look like body builders without steroids. I put on muscle very easily, and although I don't end up looking like a body builder when I do heavy weights, I certainly get rather manish in the arms and legs. When I rowed a lot I had very big arm and…

Zumba
Lots of people seem to log it as burning like 500 cals or so per hour, which I find odd as my extremely high intensity aerobics only comes in at about 400 cals for the hour, and other people who do that class gave up Zumba as they said they hardly raised a sweat. So is our local Zumba teacher a bit useless, is the 400 cals…

Dairy when eating healthily
I have found since I started running and getting healthier, I feel really sick when I eat dairy. Especially butter. Has anyone else found this? I love butter!

Protein fills you up?
I keep seeing this on here, but it doesn't seem to work for me at all. Grains fill me up. Protein doesn't! I can eat 20g of protein in one go and still feel starving.

Pilates
What do you think of it as exercise?

Where does looking after yourself become selfish?
I am thinking about making some big changes in my life, and I am pretty sure it's because I have taken control of my health, and realise I want control of the rest of my life as well, but I worry that this is just selfishness. I am all too aware we only get one shot at life, and I have had enough of other people telling me…

Regulating food intake
Does anyone else have trouble with consistency? I am finding some days (especially those I do long runs) I can't get enough calories in, whatever I do, and others (like today), I can't stop eating. Anyone got tips for how to be more consistent?

Food while marathon training
I am doing a half marathon in 3 weeks and hoping to do a full one next year, so am in full training mode atm, but I am really struggling to eat enough. I feel like the more I run, the less I want to eat, and I am making myself sick forcing in calories, and still miles off target. I normally hate these "I can't eat 1200…

Can you be thin without being hungry?
Just wondering.

What can I do with 7 pints of whey?
As the title says. I made cheese and have a lot of liquid left over!

Steroids
Anyone take them? If so, what dose? And how long does it take once you lower the dose does it take for the side effects to wear off?

Breakfast cereals
Do you let your children have Kelloggs and Nestle breakfast cereals - things like Krave and Frosties? Or do you religiously check the sugar content of your children's food?

Which Olympian?
So which would you go for? My jury is still out, so I am interested in other people's responses! Doesn't have to be a medal winner, anyone who competed.

How much exercise does your child get per week?
I saw a depressing statistic today on the BBC website that the average British child gets just 2.6 hours per week outdoor exercise. This is mostly blamed on people being scared to let their children play outside unsupervised (though I imagine the weather plays a part!). My children get at least 2 hours outside a day, and…

Were you sporty as a child?
I wasn't. I was TERRIBLE at sport at school. I have always hated team sports and have no hand to eye co-ordination, then I was diagnosed with asthma at 13. It wasn't until I started rowing at 15 that I found a sport that really suited me, and I was properly good at, and as a result of that I found I was a good runner too,…

Bigger breasted triathletes
I am interested in doing a triathlon as I run and cycle (haven't added swimming yet, I need to work on that bit), and am wondering what you wear on top. All the triathlon suits I have found come with support bras, but I am a 28F, so am fairly sure they will all be way too big around my back and not nearly supportive enough…

Another Olympics post
For every athlete who wins a medal at the Olympics, how many do you think pursued the same sport but were crippled by serious injury?

Huh?
So we have constant threads about how fruit is BAD because of the sugar, but also hundreds of threads about fat free, low calorie cakes. Now we have threads about how saunas burn calories, but log cleaning, even if you have done 5 hours of really heavy housework and burned way more calories an hour than you do doing zumba,…

Does fast food affect how you feel?
I often see people saying they have digestive problems or feel sluggish after eating junk food. I can't say I have ever experienced this. I don't eat fast food (being vegetarian), but the only food I find makes me feel really grotty after are pasta and white bread, which make me feel sick after one or two bites, so I don't…

The myth of metabolism
So we all know people who are skinny but appear to eat all the time, right? Except...have you ever spent a few days with them eating exactly what they do? Do they really eat as much as you think? And those overweight healthy eaters....again, I have spent some time trying to match exactly what my larger friends eat, and I…

Paleo vs Primal
What is the difference between Paleo and Primal? I admit I haven't looked into it in huge depth because being strictly vegetarian I don't think it is a lifestyle choice for me, but I would like to know what people here mean when they use these terms. Is there a difference, or do they mean the same thing?

Lying about food intake
Would you say anything if you had a friend who was massively overlogging their food intake on here to make it look as if they were eating enough, when you know from days you have spent with them, that they are only eating about half as much as they claim and are looking unhealthily thin?

The website with different body fats
Does anyone have a link to that website that shows what different body fat percentages on men and women look like? I know it has been linked on here before.

Does your SO CARE how much you weigh?
Following on from does your SO know how much you weigh, I was quite surprised how many people said "no secrets here". I wouldn't keep my weight a secret from my husband, but I can't imagine him caring for a millisecond what I weigh. I wouldn't interest him. So more importantly than does your SO KNOW what you weight? Does…

Runner feet. HELP!
I am a fairly experienced runner, and haven't any major health issues with it, but last week during a normal 10k run I developed a blister on the end of my middle toe, and after running twice more on it it is now a large and very painful blood blister. What can I do to prevent these things happening? I know marathon…

Max calories burned in an hour
What is the maximum number of calories you can burn in an hour? At the moment, I cannot burn more than 540 in an hour, that is off road running including sprints, HR 168 average (my 10k time is 52-56 minutes). Doing circuit training it's more like 450 an hour. Both cases I am working flat out as hard as I can. I am always…
