Walking as exercise
First off, I am not knocking walking as a form of exercise, especially for those who are new to much activity, but a few observations: 1) I wore a HRM while I walked around this morning, reasonable pace, probably 2.5 or 3 mph, just getting children to and from nursery - and my HR didn't get above 93 BPM. I am not burning…

SO HUNGRY!
I have been maintaining for 8 months on 1500 cals, but have gained 5 lbs in the last couple of months, so yesterday cut back down to 1400 cals, and I am STARVING. Tummy rumbling, can't think straight, feel weak, starving. I have 300 cals left for the day and am actually scared of how hungry I feel. Any tips?

Body shape and image
I find it very interesting how people's image of themselves body-wise often has absolutely no basis in numbers, but is all about how you look compared to how you think you ought to look. I was really struck the other day on the hip measurement thread how some people said they carried all their weight in their thighs, but…

Ok, help me out here
I came on here with an original goal of 130, and reached that in August last year, decided to go for 125, reached that in Sept, then moved my goal to 120 lbs. This has not happened. I admit I am not trying terribly hard as I am comfortable with how I look, but I am getting a little frustrated now. I net 1500 cals a day. I…

Adding more exercise
At the moment I run twice a week (6 miles per run), do circuit training (including sprints) twice a week and aerobics once a week. I am running a half marathon in Oct and really need to up my fitness, but I don't often get more than an hour at a time to exercise. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to get…

Peanuts
I never really ate peanuts before joining here, but started having peanut butter because so many people raved about it being good for you. Within a few weeks my asthma was notably worse and my skin started breaking out. I didn't make the connection at first, but after not having it for a bit and then having it again, it…

Need to have a rant
So I am currently about 123 lbs, so not super thin, just about right for my height. In the last weeks I have had a number of (much heavier than me, all dieting, and mostly low carbing) people very rudely tell me I have a worrying attitude to food and even have mental health issues. Now, I have no emotional attachment to…

To each their own or ....
Each to their own? I have only ever heard each to their own in RL, but on here everyday I read to each their own. Is it a UK/US language thing? Like aubergine/eggplant courgette/zucchini?

TOO hungry!
I have had to cut back down to 1500 cals as I just wasn't losing on 1600 at all, in fact I gained, but I am so hungry all the time on 1500! Someone give me some ideas! I'm veggie btw.

Changing goals
Who here has changed their goal weight as they've approached it? I started out with a goal of 130lbs, but as I near that, I realise I am still not 100% happy with how I look, and losing another 3 lbs isn't going to make the last of the fat magically vanish. So I am thinking of switching to 125lbs. At 22 I would have…

Allergy tests
Last week I had a whole load of allergy tests, as I have had a few reactions to peanut butter and also macadamias. All the tests came back negative, so what else could it be that I am reacting to?

More or less self conscious
The lovely weather we have had recently has encouraged me to get my summer clothes out, but I find I am far more self conscious about baring flesh now than I was when I was 30 lbs heavier. Mentally I know this is just bizarre, but my gut tells me to cover up. Anyone else got this problem?

Is weighing yourself daily unhealthy?
Does it keep you on track, or encourage an unhealthy attitude to weight? I keep seeing people getting discouraged and giving up because the number on the scale has gone up, but...if you weigh yourself every day then it will go up, probably as often as it goes down. I don't own scales and am not a fan of daily weighing. I…

Do you view weightless as a battle?
I see so many references on here to winning the war, fighting the flab, the battle of the bulge, how you have to WANT it more than you want anything, the difference between interest and dedication.....all these descriptions of not being overweight as a really hard thing. It doesn't have to be. I think people over think,…

Lipo
I just read through the i-lipo thread and found myself wondering, if you have any of these treatments to break down fat cells - be that surgical liposuction, i-lipo or ice lipo (fat cells destroyed by freezing), surely the fat you eat then has to redistribute itself amongst your remaining fat cells.......which surely leads…

Apple shaped people
All these people posting progress pic of themselves with their huge hips and tiny waists really brings home to me quite how apple shaped I really am. I have really narrow hips, and no matter what I do my waist is never smaller then 26 to 27". I get so envious when I see these super curvy girls with tiny waists, as no…

HRM question
I have a Garmin 610, and was looking through the breakdown analysis of each lap (1km) I ran this morning, and noticed the calorie count for the first 2 km was only 9 cals each. Subsequent kilometres were all between 47 and 60 cals per km. SO I scrolled back and looked at previous runs, and on all of the the cal burn for my…

Drinking water
Does this actually make any difference to anything at all? I see it being said here hundreds of times a day, and yet have never seen any evidence to back it up. Sure we need to drink, but why water specifically? And why 8 cups? Is that 8 cups net, or gross, because surely if we exercise we need more? I have seen several…

Losing when already at a healthy weight
I was 123 lbs at Christmas, I am up to 125 now, and really want to be 118-120, but those last few lbs of loss are evading me. My current BMI is about 20.5, and my BF around 20%, so I know I am ok where I am now, but would be happier just a few lbs lighter. Does anyone have any advice? Or is anyone in the same boat to offer…
