I came on here with an original goal of 130, and reached that in August last year, decided to go for 125, reached that in Sept, then moved my goal to 120 lbs.

This has not happened.

I admit I am not trying terribly hard as I am comfortable with how I look, but I am getting a little frustrated now. I net 1500 cals a day. I do circuit training once or twice a week, run 10-12 km twice a week and do aerobics once a week. I also walk a lot most days, but I don't bother logging that (so today I spent 5 hours walking but logged 2 as I wasn't wearing HRM and I find MFP overestimates my cals burned). However, despite this, since Christmas I have gained 5 lbs and am now 127 lbs, which I am beginning to be not so happy with.

What should I be doing to reverse this annoying weight gain? I am over on sugar most days at the moment, which I need to sort out. It's nearly all fruit, being summer, but I think I need to change my breakfast cereal, as that is adding sugar I don't need. Any other suggestions?

You may be gaining muscle with the exercise you've been doing. It's not a bad thing at all. Do your clothes fit tighter since gaining those five pounds? If it's not muscle that's causing the weight gain, have you recalculated your BRM? As you lose weight the calories that once allowed you to lose now sustain because your BRM lowers.

You really should calculate your BMR (basal metabolic rate), if you have not done so already. It sounds counter-intuitive, but as you get thinner, your body burns more calories at rest, so you actually should be eating MORE calories to sustain proper body functions. It is possible that with your current calorie intake plus exercise, your body has gone into starvation mode, and is holding on to anything it gets.

My BMR is 1272 cals so I am not eating under that at all. MFP calculates my maintenance cals at 1550, so I am set to 1500 to just lose slowly or give me a bit of leeway if I go over occasionally, but I seem to be gaining slowly instead. It's frustrating.

I don't think it can be muscle as I haven't done enough strength training to have gained 5 lbs of muscle in 6 months.

How much protein have you been eating? Are you getting in enough fruits and vegetables each day?
