My little cousin is now 11, and she did pageants as a child. Her mother had a moral objection to dressing her in anything too revealing, spray tans, fake lashes and nails. She had a lot of fun with it, and she liked to dress up. Many of the other little girls and mothers were obnoxious and quite frankly mentally unstable. We had one mom who would fly off the handle at anything and her daughter was the biggest spoiled brat I've ever seen.

I'm not sure if I would ever want my daughter to do it. I'd prefer her be involved with sports, girl scouts, or something more productive and less superficial.

i totaly agree with you. they should be dressing to impressing. they should be allowed to be kids

My daughter is one year old and goes to pageants, there is nothing wrong with them.

It's hard to tell because we get presented with the most sensational clips on TV - but if they are even half as bad as they look, then they are just wrong!!

None of the pageants my daughter has been in have been like anything you see on tv, so I don't know I guess maybe it depends on what type of pageant you put them in. she wears a sparkly puffy dress but nothing revealing and no makeup except once and awhile atiny bit of blush

Ah, yes, nothing like teaching our girls from the very start that the only way to win and get ahead is to be considered 'perfect' and superficially beautiful by a panel of strangers.

Pageants that allow this kind of behavior from a child should be shut down. It's so inapprpriate, and this poor girl is probably being objectified by the absolute worst in human beings (pedophiles) via the internet. So sad.
