I need some motivation
I switched to maintenance in Sept last year, and was on 1500 cals a day at that. At Christmas I weighed in and had lost another 4 lbs, so upped my maintenance to 1600. Just weighed again today, and I am up 4 lbs! In 6 weeks! How can I have gained 4 lbs in 6 weeks eating 1600 cals a day? Can someone explain how this is…

Half marathon training
Are there any effective ways of training for a half marathon that don't take 2 hours? I only get about 60-70 minutes to train at a time. I did do a 9 mile race without too much trouble, after doing 10k training, but I would really like to up my race mileage. Does anyone have any good training programs that I can do on a…

What do you wear?
Those of you who have lost weight. What do you wear now? Do you wear new figure hugging clothes or are you still swamped in your old baggy ones? Post some pics of you in your post-goal attire for inspiration!

What do you eat after a run?
I normally have something high in protein like quorn or greek yoghurt or an almond bounce ball, but today a had a big bowl of broccoli post run and despite having to wait the cooking time, feel much better for it, and not hungry at all. What do you eat after a long run?

Detoxing
I have been wondering what people's views are on this. I have read a lot debunking the concept of detoxing, stating that the body is perfectly capable of eliminating toxins all the time. But then I have also read about transfats and how they cause toxins to be stored in fat tissue, and how things like excessive alcohol…

Stomach and back exercises
I'm at goal weight, but my stomach and back are not very muscular compared to my arms and legs. What can I do to build up a bit of abdominal muscle? I do crunches, reverse crunches, leg lifts, planks and press ups, but I need something more hardcore. Is there any core specific weight training I can do? I am not looking to…

Insane people taking it too far!

Eating on your own
I really struggle to bother cooking when it is just for me, I love cooking, I cook for the children every day, and when my husband is home I cook proper meals for us, but he's away with work a lot of the week, and I find on those days I just can't be bothered. Does anyone have any good, vegetarian ideas for food when I am…

People with food allergies
I have been allergic to oranges since I was 14, and can't stand the smell or taste of them, it screams poison to me. However, it recently looks like I might also be allergic to peanuts and macadamias, and while I can definitely leave peanuts, I adore macadamias. If you have food allergies, do you like the taste of your…

Ideas to get my calorie burn up
I measure everything with a HRM so I know my burn rate is accurate, but it is depressingly low these days! This morning I burned 541 cals running 7 miles in 70 minutes, I burn about 125 cals doing level 1 of the 30DS, and 321 cals an hour doing aerobics. Circuit training is a bit higher at about 400 per hour. Compared to…

Zumba
Who here does it, and what do you think? I have two friends who have been to classes locally - different classes with different instructors, and both have come out saying it's just full of old ladies and is a bit lame. But then I hear people here raving about it, and really want to give it a go. So what do you think,…

Do you feel you need support?
Specifically to lose weight? I don't have any real life support for weight loss. No one, not even my husband, a) had any idea I was losing weight until I did or b) have given me any encouragement to do so. No one has tried to sabotage me either. In fact, aside from just about everyone saying how thin I look, no one has…

Abdominal NSV
6 1/2 years ago I had my oldest son who weighed 9 lbs 5 oz, and was back to back. Due to his size and the fact that his feet were sticking and kicking outwards, my abdominal muscles separated, made worse by having to have a caesarean. After having my second child I had a 2 cm gap between the muscle at the front, which has…

Your other half
Just looking for a gauge really! Does your other half: Do an equal share of the housework when he/she is home? Cook for you? Go food shopping? Give you massages when you ask? Tell you you are beautiful/handsome? Buy his/her own clothes?! Notice the dust? Take the children off so you have some free time? Arrange anything or…

Do you have a goal weight?
When I read posts asking what you will do at your goal weight, things like that, I always feel very wary. To me, this weight thing is a lifelong journey. While I live it doesn't end. I know my weight will fluctuate throughout my life, and my journey is controlling that to the best of my ability. I worry that if I had a…

Hunger!
When people post about hunger on here they are often told to cut out carbs as carbs make you feel hungry. Or eat more protein, or drink more water. What about feeling hunger when you are just....hungry? When you aren't eating enough?

Diet myths
Can we have a sticky of some properly substantiated refutations of the myths that are out there. I would like to start with - Tea and coffee do not dehydrate you. Your water intake for the day does not have to be water. (Not diet related but) Hitler was NOT a vegetarian. Does anyone else have any they would like to add?

Do you comment on other people's weight?
I seem to be the only person who finds it incredibly rude to comment on another person's weight. Most people don't go up to people and say "you're fat", so why is it ok to say "you've lost so much weight."? Surely that's just saying "You were fat before, but I didn't like to comment." I wouldn't ever like to comment on…

An interesting take on vegetarianism
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/aug/26/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall-vegetables This article is also the introduction to a book I was given for Christmas. It is a very interesting take on vegetarianism and meat consumption in the West by someone who until now has been a well known meat chef and journalist. I…

Has weight loss given you more confidence?
In my case, I don't think it has. I have never been unconfident, but I don't feel any more so now that I am in better shape. I have more energy, but I think overall I make less of an effort on myself. My skin is worse, and I worry more about what people think. In fact, I think people judge me more. Don't get me wrong, I am…

People who don't weigh
There must be some other people on here who don't weigh either themselves or their food! I am looking for other complete opposite of control freaks out there. I have managed to achieve all my goals without weighing food, and only weighing myself every 4-8 weeks at most. I feel rather sorry for people who obsess about their…

Does anyone else get irritated by fad diets?
I know I come across as narky in here much of the time, but something about the idea of "dieting" in general makes me twitchy. I know it doesn't matter to me what other people do with their bodies, but I find myself getting really irate by people advocating fad diets. I really really, absolutely 100% believe in eat less,…

Water retention
I apologise for another arsy post from me, I just want to raise something that crops up on here constantly. Grains Not sleeping enough Any more anyone wants to…

Why don't men bloat?
You never hear men talking about how certain foods make them bloat, and yet it seems to be something that most women are paranoid about. Are we completely making it up, or is it a female / hormonal phenomenon?
