  • I know what you mean about being hungry most of the time. I was like that before my lifestyle change. It's the sugars and wheat in our diets that keeps us hungry. One of the things I've learned is that if you eat the right foods you will not be hungry afterwards. You will find answers on my blog. I have lost 145 pounds in the past 21 months. I eat all I want. I don't worry about exercise, I don't count calories. I'm never hungry, and never full. This new lifestyle has given me so much freedom. Freedom from hunger and the addictions that plaque many today.
Please read my blog. I believe it will help you.

    I wish you success.

I'm pretty hungry right now! If I don't feel hungry then I know I've eaten too much, and at the moment I'm desperate to lose 3 pounds as I've just gone up over the last few days. I want to be down a bit so I can eat more feely over the next couple of days, so I guess I'll be hungry till tomorrow evening, when the party starts.:drinker:
  • Fewer carbs, more protein and fat - you'll feel less hungry. I only eat once or twice a day, and even then I'm usually not too hungry.

    ^^ THIS!
While it's hard to cut them out ALL the time, you could aim for 80% of the time. It also removes the cravings!

I just read all about Paleo and Primal and it's pretty interesting. After doing just a day or two of Paleo, I feel less bloated and my jeans are less tight. This doesn't mean I've lost weight, just am less bloated which means my stomach is flatter. Great to do the day after a binge... like Christmas! Lol.

I've lost most my weight from cutting down on my carbs and weigh less now than I did at 16 years of age! (31 years old)

This is gonna sound really hippie-dippy - don't say I didn't warn you.

For me, living and traveling in a developing nation has really made me rethink the idea of the word "hungry". Over the past six months, I've traveled to very rural parts of China, where hunger is a reality. Not "oh man I left my sandwich on the counter" hunger, but "I wonder when I'll get to eat again" hunger. When our group of teachers traveled over the course of the summer, there were several times when our hosts would feed us a meal, then scrape the leftovers from our plates into bowls and use that to feed themselves and their children.

Maybe this sounds dumb, but it really was a pivotal point in my relationship with food - if I had to answer honestly, I've never actually been hungry. Somehow, this knowledge has made it much easier to go between my planned meals and snacks without obsessing over tummy rumbles.
  • That's the key. More fat and protein. Cut out he sugars and the wheat, you won't be hungry all the time. You can miss meals without being hungry. You won't wake up hungry. The weight will fall of and stay off. What FREEDOM you will have once you make the change.

I used to be hungry most of the time
but now I am hardly hungry at all - I think in part it is due to reading (and doing) the beck diet solution - its not at all about what you eat but HOW and why you eat - its really helped me to recognise quite a few things and made sticking to a healthy 1200 so much easier
I will be doing the whole 6 weeks activities all over again so that I am ready to tackle next year - because next year WILL be my year

Thanks, but I don't believe this. I eat very cleanly and always have. I rarely eat wheat and have no refined sugar. I don't find protein makes me feel full. Bread makes me feel full, but it also makes me feel lethargic so I avoid it most of the time. I don't have food cravings. I just have hunger!

I have lost all the weight I want to, and am maintaining at 123 lbs.

Also, no one who looked at my diary would tell me I should be eating more fat.

It doesn't sound hippy at all. I think you are absolutely right, and I completely agree. One of the things I have come to realise over the past 14 months is that we are MEANT to feel hunger, and it's ok.

yesterday :( missed lunch due to work .. it sucks.

I miss my lunch nearly every day. And the worst part about that is, I feed people! And my co-workers suck and they all go smoke, but if we don't smoke, then they make us feel like "Uh, why? We have stuff to do." I am a pretty nice, easy-going person. And most days I would love to punch them in the face.
I started taking a Clif granola bar so I can eat it quick around lunch time. So far it's been pretty good, but if I have the bar at 11, and still don't get off until 4, sometimes even 5, it's a huge issue with me. It's annoying, and when I get hungry, I get irritable!

I have to take bounce balls (almond protein bars) and apples into uni with me, as I get dizzy and faint on the days I miss lunch. Especially after exercising in the morning.

For most of the last eights weeks, I haven't really been hungry. Wednesday, every time I turned around I was hungry. It was odd. The only difference was that I didn't get in my morning walk. I will have to start keeping track if I miss that walk again if I am hungry the rest of the day.

We're all different, we all get hungry at different times even if we all ate the same things. You need to find what works for you. I dont usually get hungry, but when I do, I drink a big glass of water and wait 30 mins to see if Im still hungry then. If I am, then I go for low cal high volume foods. I eat high protein and high fibre to help feel full.

Traditionally I don't suffer hunger. Not sure why but I am getting better - I am sort of training myself and I am way better now I get to exercise everyday.
I was just hungry while I was out getting some groceries an hour and a half ago - I was rapt and bolted home to eat

I find that when I am super hungry it's because my diet is missing something - not because I have too much (ie: sugar or carbs). Check your macros AND micros before you run off and decide whole food groups are the cause of society's ruin. So many people here are on the 1,200 calorie/2 hours of elliptical plan that sometimes your hunger just means you need more food!

    Very sensible advice.

I think I may be anaemic, so am going to work on my iron intake for a few weeks.

When I was losing a pound a week I would get hungry just before my regular meal times. But since I changed to lose 1/2 pound a week, I don't usually get hungry at all.

It's a good perspective. But just because we aren't starving doesn't mean that we don't have a legitimate hunger drive.
