There must be some other people on here who don't weigh either themselves or their food! I am looking for other complete opposite of control freaks out there.

I have managed to achieve all my goals without weighing food, and only weighing myself every 4-8 weeks at most. I feel rather sorry for people who obsess about their daily weight. It doesn't mean anything from one day to the next. RELAX!!!!!!

  • I never weighed my food when I started Mfp. I just counted calories and begin really monitoring what I ate. I also only weighed in once a week. Once I started maintaing (about one year ago) I only weighed in every two weeks and now I only weigh myself every month or two. I think clothes fitting snuggly is an easier gauge if you have gained. I hated feeling like crap if the scale said I gained a pound, so I just stopped relying on it. I have maintained my weight the whole time! I do get a little control freak about working out though...

Oh yes, I get the exercise thing, but I have even stopped wearing a HRM much of the time, as I know how much I burn doing what these days and have been consistent for months.

I log all my food religiously, but I don't bother weighing it. I cook most of my own food, so I know what has gone into everything, so it's very easy to estimate for most things, and well, I haven't had any problems with weight loss so clearly it works.

I think it is very easy to get hung up on numbers and forget the bigger picture.

While it's admirable that you've lost weight without weighing your food or yourself, many people on MFP (myself included) are trying to lose a lot more weight than you. Part of how we got to that weight was that there is something disordered about our relationships with food. Learning to control portions is part of correcting that. I need to weigh my food because I can't accurately "eyeball" a serving of most foods. I try; I test myself all the time. I just can't. I weigh myself weekly as a motivator - why would I work so hard and never know how I'm doing? But when I jump on the scale and see progress, I feel energized for another week. Don't feel sorry for me - what looks like me being a "control freak" is actually just me finally being in control, and I like it.

I agree with everything written above. I will also add that alot of the time especially for the new people you will be losing inches in different areas and may never lose a pound for a period of time. I weigh every two weeks, on friday, on the same scale, and in the same clothes. Other than that, if I am doing what I'm supposed to be doing.... The scale won't matter anyway! Lee. #NoExcusesLetsGo!!
