Anyone else having anxiety about the weekend right now?
I am! I am already nervous and upset about the things I haven't even done yet. :/ Is that anticipatory guilt at work or what??

Protein powder for women, as "clean" as possible.???
I see the topic of protein powder has been talked to death, and after all the reading, I still have questions. First question: Are all protein powders suitable for WOMEN who are LOSING WEIGHT? Is Creatine a bad thing? If so, how bad? Second question: Are there any protein powders that do not contain artficial sugar? If so,…

What comes after Turbo Fire? Almost done with 90 days
So, my 90 days of Turbo Fire are almost up. What do I do now? I am a little bored with the dvds, and some of them are too easy for me now. Is there another cardio program like this out there? I have been trying to run, maybe I'll switch completely to running and save my Turbo Fire dvds for rainy days. ?? Thoughts?

What is the most weight you've ever lost in one month?
What is the most weight you've ever lost in one month, and how many months into your program were you during that month, and what was your starting weight/goal weight??

I'm really down today. Need pep talk and encouragement.
Quick stats: Been on MFP since Feb 1, goal weight is165, current weight is 221. (all time low is 216.5) I am on week 3 of a plateau. I guess you'd call it a plateau when you dance with the same 5 lbs for 3 weeks - up 2, down 3, up 3, down 2.... I am approaching my monthly weigh-in and its looking like I will only bank a 5…

Resistance training for the overweight with 50+ to lose
After 3 months on MFP and doing tons of reading, I just feel so confused about this still. Some say weight lifting when you are in a calorie deficit is pointless, other say, if you do not lift weights while you diet, your body will eat its own lean muscle tissue to supplement the calories you are cutting out. So, which is…

Anyone else have kids with weight problems, or starting to?
I am very saddened to see that my daughter (12) seems to be developing a weight problem. I don't know what to do about it - she is very sensitive and takes things very personally. She's a sweet kid - but a little on the lazy side. And her diet is not good. I have already decided today that my mentality about meals around…

Help me survive a night out with the girls
I am going out with the girls tonight to a restaurant. We usually go out for Thai, but I think tonight we are going to a Mexican place. I have 700 cals to eat, and I have already done my workout. So, what could I have? Also, its strange, but when I start out with a beer, I eat less in these types of scenarios. Open for…

Help me find weight exercises for my circuit routine
So, in my effort to try to incorporate more resistance training into my week without losing out on my beloved cardio, I have decided to replace 2 of my cardio days (I usually do 5 or 6 days of cardio per week) with a homemade circuit training routine so I don't miss too much cardio, but also get that important weight…

Weight training and cardio on same day or alternate?
Does it matter or affect the quality or results of your cardio or resistance training if you alternate the workouts (doing cardio one day, weights the next, then cardio the next day, weights the next, etc) or if you do them on the same day (cardio first, then weights, next day do the same thing or take a day off) I do know…

How many days of cardio is needed to lose fat?
I still have 53 lbs to go and am burrrrrnnnning out on exercise. I"ve been doing 6 days of cardio and 1-2 days of light resistance training for almost 3 months, and I want to revamp my workout routine because I'm getting bored with it. Was thinking of doing 2 days of running (2.5 miles each time) and 2 days of 45 minute…

Weight training while in calorie deficit for weight loss
I have been checking out some bodybuilding websites (more for my hubby since he is "recomping" and trying to replace his skinny-fat physique with muscle) and from what I've read, it seems like weight training while in a deficit isn't recommended. I may be interpreting what I"m reading incorrectly - looking for…

Music without earphones while running outside?
My hubby and I have been enjoying our ipod while running, but we listen to it without earphones - then we can both enjoy the music, plus hear road noise and nature in the background, which we prefer. Problem is, the sound is so faint coming out of the bottom of the ipod. Is there such a device that is small and portable,…

Help me help my husband - he is skinny fat.
My hubby and I are confused as to what he should be doing with his diet. I am creating a calorie deficit for myself as I have 53 lbs to go... he on the other hand, is at a healthy weight, but is flabby and skinny. Now, he has been doing P90X for almost 3 months and things are really taking shape in his arms and legs, but…

People are treating me differently... sad but true
After only a (almost) 30 lb weight loss, people seem friendlier, and more interested in me. It makes me sad. I have a couple people who seem jealous - that makes me very uncomfortable. All this wierdness is getting to me. I also purged my closet of some clothes that don't fit anymore - some of my "favorite" shirts and…

If there is no such thing as spot reduction, then how do you
... how do you explain that since I've started TurboFire kickboxing 3 months ago, my legs have probably lose the most fat and firmed and shaped the most? If I was doing TurboFire on my hands, I bet my arms would look hot! Still losing nothing on the backfat end and stomach fat end.

I need fashion help - anyone up for some brainstorming?
I picked up some CUTE things at the thrift store this week, and now I need to know how to wear them, and what to wear them with. :/ Ok, first item - a lovely turquoise shirt with a delicate white embroidery on the front - 3/4 sleeves with a gathered shoulder. What shoes/jewelery/bottoms could I wear with it to make it a…

Riding a bike - is it resistance training or cardio?
I know from experience that riding a bike doesn't wind me very much - this year, I will wear my HRM and find out for sure how much cardio I am actually getting. I thought it would be fun to incorporate a 3 mile ride into my workout routine, but, is it enough to replace a day of cardio? Or should I use it as a leg…

Burning out at the 3 month/30 pound mark
I am approaching 3 months on MFP and rounding up a 30 lb loss and I am feeling burned out. Burned out on logging, burned out on exercise, burned out on the whole overwhelming project of "ME". It doesn't help that it is spring break right now and my kids and hubby are all on vacation and home with me - so - I don't know.…

Reformed heavy drinkers who now drink less - talk to me
I am working on reducing my alcohol consumption. I just don't want to give it up completely 'cause its so darn fun and motivating for me fitness wise to be able to look forward to good times with my friends... but I tend to overdo it. I usually average 8-12 drinks on a night out with friends. I'd like to reduce it and get…

Alcohol and how it "pauses" weight loss
Is this another weight loss myth, or is it really true that when you drink, your body will stop burning fat for awhile while it works on the alcohol? Is this phenomenon worse with beer than other forms of alcohol? How may hours or days does this "pause" in weight loss go on for? If you eat properly while drinking, does…

Did you quit drinking in your quest for the "new you"?
I need some advice about alcohol. I have been toying with the idea of quitting completely - semipermanently. I mean, at least until all my weight is off and until I achieve the level of health that I am striving for. I just can't control myself with alcohol. I always say I am going to stop at 3, and it ends up being 12. I…

Is a can of V8 enough to break a fast?
Sometimes I Just don't have enough time to eat a proper breakfast - would a can of V8 be enough to break my fast and kick start my metabolism for the day? I would have a bigger "breakfast" later in the morning - but for that initial hour I am up and when I am short on time - could I just chug a can of V8?

Party game ideas for small group of 6?? Have any?
We are having friends over tomorrow and would love some ideas for fun games. We'll have 6 people (3 couples) and there will be drinking and food - any card games, board games or other types of games that anyone could recommend would be great. We all know eachother pretty well and love to laugh and have a good time. Looking…

I am at war with my scale again! I hate it so much!
After failing to give up my scale for Lent (I made it two weeks, then caved in) I have slowly gotten back into the awful habit of weighing daily. This week has been really bad - I reached 220 on Sunday, and since, I have been getting on every morning eagerly awaiting the "teens". I have been covering all the numbers with…

Sore from running yesterday - should I skip my workout?
I ran for the first time in years after 3 months of doing TurboFire. I knew I'd be sore today, so I planned on doing just a turbofire 30 minute workout. (I do try to do cardio 6 days per week) I have waited all day for the soreness to improve a little and it really hasn't gotten better. Its my legs - my thighs (outer,…

Does anyone climb stairs for exercise?
I mean beyond the scope of what is required by daily activities... I just had a workout and I was 100 calories short of my burn goal. So, I decided to go up and down my flight of stairs in my home 10 times and see what happened. I made my goal with that little stair climbing. My HRM increased quickly - and I wondered if…

Waist is not getting smaller, even though scale is moving.
I have lost almost 25 lbs since Feb 1. I admit, I don't know what my waist was when I started, I only started measuring a month ago. Nevertheless, I have been stuck at 38 inches for over a month, even though I have lost another 10-12 lbs. I don't understand. What can I do to get that waist measurment down? I don't believe…

Is this normal? I feel like a druggie in rehab sometimes.
I have locked myself in my bedroom for the night. I've been here for a couple hours, and its only 8 pm. I was at my calorie limit at 6 pm, and knew the rest of the night would be extremely difficult for me. So, I have no plans to go downstairs anymore today. I feel like I can't or I will end up in the fridge or cupboards.…
