Misfit Flash
Has anyone preordered? Any thoughts on this product you'd like to share? I've been using the Body Media Fit armband for over 3 years and am ready for something new, smaller and a bit less obvious, along with it being waterproof for swimming and bathing. However, I am a bit $ poor right now. It's less than $50 and…

Celery
What the *#&@? Celery used to be one of those cheap veggies and I have gotten into the habit of having the treat of a couple (4) stalks cut into sticks almost every night with an ounce of wonderful blue cheese dressing. I picked some up at the market yesterday and when I got to the register it was almost $7!!!! EEK! Just…

I found a great way to stop snacking!
I make yogurt. That's it. That's my secret. lol When making yogurt it can't be "jiggled, jostled, or bumped." or it won't set, and I don't fancy drinking my yogurt. I prepare a batch and set the yogurt maker on the counter and then I am loathe to even enter the kitchen for fear of spoiling the batch. If I don't go into the…

Chia Seeds
Anyone include these in their diet, regularly? I have recently discovered them and LOVE them as a gel/pudding (Pudding and cream pies were my favorite food, a daily treat, prior to my life-style change) but I'm wondering what else I can do with these things. Any suggestions? I would love to know what others do...please…

Oh, the pain! (but it's a good pain!)
I am so blessed. My ambulance squad was "gifted" with a full gym installed at our hall, yes you can all be jealous! My still super-fit Army buddy came for a visit last week and opened my eyes to the fact that I was wasting the opportunity by NOT being in that gym every chance I could. I explained that I was…

NSV today! Share yours?
I (re)started on my 'get fit' journey August 17, 2013. At that time I was wearing Women's 2XL T-shirts, as in WOMEN's sizes, which tend to run larger. Today, I was working Ski Patrol up on the local ski mountain and we were having a benefit for an injured co-worker. The rep for the SPYDER company was there raffling swag.…

Not a recipe, but an amazing Food Find!
I haven't eaten bread in over 6 months (OK...a couple cheat dinners, like my awards banquet (had a dinner roll) and a biannual trip to the fabulous rib joint (had TWO fry breads.)) But I haven't bought a loaf of bread home since the beginning of August. I was at the market tonight and found Dave's Killer Bread~Thin sliced.…

High Protein Dessert/Snack!
I find that if I eat a high protein treat at night then I sleep much better. Tonight's "treat" is: 5 ounces Part Skim Ricotta, blended with 1 Splenda a splash of Vanilla Extract 2 (out of the package of 4) Dole Dark Chocolate Strawberry Dippers. Chilling in the fridge now, but I did sneak a little taste...a total YUM!

What's for lunch/dinner today 12/31/2013?
My family tradition has always been seafood on New Year's Eve. I am on call tonight and not with my family so here's the special New Year's Eve treat I made myself for lunch later. (FYI: My lunch will probably be around 9 or 10 tonight with my crazy "Paramedic-life schedule.") 4 ounces bay scallops 6 ounces salad shrimp 3…

FREAKY THURSDAY!!!
OK...today has been an insane day for me on the ambulance. 3 calls may not seem busy, but they were ALL critical patients. The first 2 were in extremely remote areas with HEMS (helicopter/life flight) unable to fly due to weather so, the first two calls, dispatch to signing the paperwork, took approximately 12 hours. As I…

Who loves GYROS?
I love them! But they are not so great for my diet. :noway: I've come up with a "healthier" version that I enjoy a couple times a week. 1 MSF Griller, grilled and cut into strips. 5 grape tomatoes, quartered 15 grams nappa cabbage, shredded 15 grams Litehouse OPA Greek feta-dill dressing 1 Don Poncho, High fiber, low-carb…

I'm sure some of you already know all about this wonder I found in the frozen food section at my local WalMart today, but I just had to share for those who haven't discovered them yet (like ME, until today!) Wowza!!!!!! Pre-portioned, diet friendly, dark chocolate covered strawberries. DIET is NOT a 4-letter word to me…

Going to be one of those days....
...where I have to crunch numbers all day to stay on plan. Worked an accident scene last night so started with my first meal at 2 am. Here it is just after 9am and I've already made my step goal and am half way to my calories burn goal for the day. Means extra meals/snacks today to keep on my eating something every 3 -4…
