Fitbit Calories WAY Too High
All of a sudden, my Fitbit calories logged in MyFitnessPal are way too high. This morning I woke up in the Fitbit only had 323 steps from before bed. In the past, this wasn’t a problem, obviously there’d be like no calories burned, But it says that I’ve already burned 1632 cal today lol. My Fitbit used to work perfectly…

Weight Gain Not Going Down?
I’ve been researching this, but not coming across any concrete answers as different articles say different things, but on December 22 I weighed in at 203.4. Today, January 9, I weighed in at 210.6. I know it fluctuates day to day, but this is weeks now without going down and only up consistently. I’ve never had that happen…

Scale at Doctors vs. My Own
My doctor’s office got a new scale about a year ago that you hold the handles, put in your height, age, etc and it tells you your weight, muscle, visceral fat, water weight, etc. on his scale I am always 223-225. Obviously it’s a “high tech and very expensive” (he says this 3-4 times each time he weighs me) scale. He tells…

Resistance Training/ Building Muscle
I was hoping someone could direct me to some exercise routines that can help to build muscle. I had neck surgery four months ago and on/off back problems (spinal stenosis; some days are better than others) so i haven’t been able to lift weights like I was prior. I do the treadmill 3-6 days a week, but would like to add to…

Compression Sleeves
I am new to this so any advice would be appreciated. I do a lot of running, stair climber, and treadmill. My calves were feeling a little sore so a friend of mine suggested compression sleeves for the legs. He uses them and said they have helped him when training for marathons. He had an extra pair so he gave them to me. I…

Charge vs Inspire - Numbers Off?
I had a Fitbit charge that broke so I got the Fitbit inspire. I have done similar workouts using the two and have found that although my information in the app has remained the same the two Fitbit’s are not close at all when comparing the workouts. Example. On the treadmill I used a 55 minute workout I recorded on the…

Fitbit Inspire Question
I had the Fitbit charge but replaced it with the inspire since the charge just stopped working one day. I notice that I can select certain exercises on the face of the Fitbit, but what if I’m not doing one of those? The charge would automatically recognize exercise after a certain amount of time, but Ive been testing the…

Running in Place Question
I use running in place as a warm up to loosen up and get blood flowing so it’s not the work out itself, but I ran in place for 20 minutes as my oldest was telling me about her day and I lost track of time. The Fitbit said 2 miles. If I ran 2 miles running in place what would that likely average out to if I was running…

Excercise and Orthotics
Hopefully someone can help with this. I have one leg about ¾ of an inch shorter than the other due to surgery I had as a kid. I have orthotics and it balances me. The issue I am having is the orthidic covered by insurance is one that is able to be used in for regular walking and also athletic activity, but the material…

Shin Splints
Got back in to running on the treadmill and probably did too much too quickly and got shin splints. I was stretching, but I guess not enough Can I still walk/run on the treadmill or do I need to wait until this goes away before I start again? I know about the ibuprofen, stretching, and ice but has anyone else had them and…

Apps Gone Crazy
Does anyone know how to fix this or even to reset my day’s exercise and food log> I connected Fitbit and MFP to an app called AFG Pro that syncs with my treadmill. I went to the exercise section of MYP and it added in the run part of my work out 954 times! I have no clue why. I have used the Fitbit and MFP no problem, but…

CaloriesCounting and Fitbit
When people track with their Fitbit how do you figure out/ estimate the calories? I’ve read they are not really accurate and are used more to get a ballpark idea of the number. It says, for example, I burned 325 calories in 32 minutes of cardio then weights this morning. I put in 200 on MFP but obviously it’s just throwing…

Weight Gain - Not Sure Why This Happens
Every year I do a 5 mile walk for Breast Cancer and the following week a 5 mile walk for Suicide Prevention. Every year after these walks my weight goes up 2-3 pounds each walk and it doesn't come off. It is not like I am eating my way through the walks and not changing my calorie goals or going above those days yet this…

New to Fitbit and Confused
I wasn’t planning on getting one, but I ended up receiving one and therefore couldn’t research it beforehand so I am brand new to having a Fitbit. After trying to research some things about it online since I got it I am unsure of exactly how the calories burned on the Fitbit calculates with MFP. I have a few questions if…

Rower - Calories Burned
I have been using the rower the last few weeks. I am enw to using one, but so far it's been fun. I have checked many different calories calculators and the difference between them with the same information put in makes it difficult to know which one. If I am 5'10, 196, going moderate speed for say 30 mins would it be…

Rowing Machine
I purchased a rowing machine as my doctor said this would help my back. Does anyone know where to find good exercise programs for rowing machine workouts? Printing Question
May seem like an odd question as I have never posted anything, but exercise or nutrition questions, but my daughter is a huge Trolls fan and since seeing Pitch Perfect videos of the singing and dancing and being told Anna Kendrick voices Poppy she wants to send a letter and an 8X10 to her. We have the 8X10 she wants signed…

Exercise and Spinal Stenosis
Does anyone have any ideas of how to exercise with spinal stenosis? I have had it for a while (hereditary - entire Dad's side of the family have had bad backs), but the last few months it has bothered me more than it did before. I start exercising and the back tightens which causes the thighs, hamstrings, and overall legs…

See a Difference?
I started MFP in April 2011. I was 235. I got down to 179 the lowest. Right now I am at 192. It is odd because January 1 I was 182. Every time I got a workout in I would be a little heavier than the weight, which I figured was water, never came off. I maintained 182 for a while, but after my first kid in 2014 exercising 5x…

Weight Fluctuation and Decreased Work Outs
I know weight can fluctuate depending on a lot of factors (sodium, water weight, etc.) and can increase a lot overnight before coming down a few days later. My question is what would cause it to drop a few pounds overnight? Obviously it will go back up and the 179 is not accurate, but it confused me as usually it goes…

Non-Slip Socks for Workout
This may even be a ridiculous question to some, but can anyone suggest really good non-slip socks to use while on the elliptical? Obviously as I start to sweat the foot area on the arms of the machine get wet and I have to keep wiping them off so I don't slip. It would also help to have something on that's as thin as a…

How much Damage....
How much damage to maintaining/ simply not gaining weight can two bad days in a row do? I set my calories at 1960 a day to lose weight per week even though my goal right now is that maintaining is fine as I’ve lost the 50 I was looking to when I joined. Usually I finish the day at 2210. Yesterday and today we had a…

Yoga
I have a few questions about yoga as I am starting to think about adding it to my routine. How does Yoga work as far as burning calories. It doesn't look like it would burn much. Muscle Relxers and Exercise
I’m not even sure this is the right topic area to place to put this in, but I was wondering if anyone has had to take any muscle relaxers and they were effective for tight muscles, but also didn’t completely drain you to the point that it was difficult to exercise. I have had masseuse, acupuncturist, and physical…

Weight and a cold
All of a sudden I went from 182.4 to 183.5 and now 184.7 in a week and a half. I started showing signs of a cold on Sunday that is now full blown. I know I cannot have gained 2.3 pounds in 10 days, but could a cold that just started Sunday have caused the weight to go up before I even noticed that I had one?
