How much Damage....

How much damage to maintaining/ simply not gaining weight can two bad days in a row do?

I set my calories at 1960 a day to lose weight per week even though my goal right now is that maintaining is fine as I’ve lost the 50 I was looking to when I joined. Usually I finish the day at 2210.

Yesterday and today we had a christening and a party then a dinner to go to. Yesterday was not a good calorie day and today while it wasn’t as bad as yesterday, but was not within the 250 over I allow myself daily to maintain my my current weight.

Not sure how much damage this does as far as weight goes.

Since you haven't told us how many calories you consumed yesterday and today, there is no way anyone can give you an objective or quantifiable answer. The best we can do is say, "it's done, so there's not much point in worrying about it anyway, unless you've got a huge pile of money riding on your ability to predict what tomorrow's weigh-in will be. Just get back on your plan."

The damage to the plan is if you decide you can eat like that on weekends and maintain during the rest of the week when you have your routine to keep you busy. I was maintaining 270 like that before I started counting the weekend calories with mfp. At that point, the excess weight melted off without much fuss at all.

I eat at or above maintenance about two days a week. I would lose weight faster if I was in a deficit every day, but I’m willing to take that trade-off. Slow and steady, and what not. Enjoy your life.

To be honest, no damage at all.
If you managed to eat 3500 cals over your maintenance you'd put on a pound. Then returning to maintenance you would slowly whittle off that pound.

I have been maintaining for over 7 years and what I have learnt is to give myself a reasonable range, for me 5lbs, and stay within it.

The odd day, weekend, 3 week vacation, are blips in the whole scheme of things that, if for most of the time you eat within your goal, resolve themselves.

Don't stress, accept there will probably be a fluctuation for a week as your body clears the excess water weight and food, and carry on as normal.

Maintenance, hopefully, is for life, so learn to accept that events, occasions, celebrations, and fun times, are part of it and may give temporary fluctuations in your weight.

    Cheers, h.

    Thanks for the replies.

I think the boost is where it entered my head to ask. Haven’t had a bloated feeling like this in a while and it went right to my head as “how much damage did these two days do to my progress?”

Either you really like what i said or youre a bit finger happy on that mouse lol

I did like it, but it was more trying to get my arm out from under a sleeping 9 month old without waking her and erasing any plans I have to sleep tonight.

You wouldn’t want to quote me even once if that happened.

Ive been in MFP jail before lol

But i know what you mean, i dont like not being able to sleep when i want to either haha

lol. The 9 month old I was able to get my arm out no problem and she stayed a sleep. As the floor creaked a little though my 3 year old woke up asking "Is it morning? Can I play?"
