Calorie decrease causes weight loss?
If a reduction in calories results in weight loss, would someone lose weight if they ate butter, chips, soda as long as they capped their calorie intake?

Going for a follow up at the gym next week! yikes!
I started this new fitness plan about two months ago after I suffered a nasty sprained ankle. I signed up for a personal trainer to work around the ankle and discovered that I was overweight and working out inefficiently and ineffectively. I started using TRX and counting my weekly calorie intake. I guess I lost a few…

Fitness plan is working so far!
Prior to my new fitness plan, I really didn't watch what I ate and did a lot of treadmill running. It was rather ineffective and I got up to 195lbs. I messed my ankle up while hiking and it was a blessing in disguise. Anyways here are some things that helped me that might help others: 1. I hired a PT who introduced me to…

Rolling over calories
If I am to consume 2000 calories per day but by Friday, I have a deficit of 1000 calories, would it hinder my weight loss to rollover those 1000 through the weekend? It is easier to keep track weekly than daily. In most instances, my daily average calorie intake would still come out less than 2000 calories if I were to…

Huge differences between calorie calculators
I'm trying to lose 16 pounds and reviewed several calculators that tell you how many calories you should consume in order to lose weight by a certain date. The suggestions are all over the map. For example, myfitness says that I should consume about 1800 per day but other websites say that I should go as high as 2400 or…

Figuring out calorie numbers with workouts
According to myfitness, I am to consume 1760 calories a day to lose 1.5 pounds a week. With my workouts (which are hard to measure), I burn about 325 calories. I usually get in 1350 calories a day, except on the weekends when I eat more calories. Say I burn 325 calories at the gym (1300) and run a deficit of 410 (2050),…

People tell me to eat more
I try to not go above 1350 calories a day but I have been told by many people, including my personal trainer, that I should go for at least 1800 when I workout. If I go that high, I gain weight. If I stay at 1350, I lose weight. In fact, I am so used to eating 1350 that I don't feel hungry after hitting my goal. The only…

When & how did you notice progress with your fitness plan?
I'm in my third week with my new gym routine with mainly consists of anaerobic stuff. I usually get my heart rate up to 160-170 for the 40-45 minutes that I am working out. This morning, I woke up and felt that my biceps were bigger and despite some shaky eating, I've been losing about 1.5 pounds a day. What little signs…

Anaerobic vs aerobic excerises
What are the fundamental differences and pros/cons of both excerises? I read that aerobic burns fat but messes your metabolism.

I messed up
I suffered a major ankle injury last month and can not resume my normal gym routine which consisted of running. I hired a personal trainer to show me alternate, if not more effective, workout routines. I also tweaked my diet so I eat less sugar. The workouts are intense. More HITT which I am not used to. Anyways, after a…

Tuna vs chicken
What would be healthier as a lunch item? Canned solid white tuna like Starkist or grilled chicken breasts from Trader Joes? Both would be used in a salad mixed with celery, tomatoes, etc. http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/trader-joes/grilled-chicken-strips…

What am I doing wrong?
I go to the gym 4x a week. Over the course of the week I run 11 miles at 10mph and various weight training excerises. My body fat is 20%. I only consume about 1350 calories a day, excluding fruits and veggies. I eat tuna, pretzels, water and whey protein bars. I do not have dressing for the tuna and I eat those crunch…
