Prior to my new fitness plan, I really didn't watch what I ate and did a lot of treadmill running. It was rather ineffective and I got up to 195lbs. I messed my ankle up while hiking and it was a blessing in disguise.

Anyways here are some things that helped me that might help others:

1. I hired a PT who introduced me to TRX and gave me tips like working out at an elevated heart rate to maximize effectiveness. I not only get a better work out but only spend about 45 minutes rather than hour.

2. I also consulted with myfitness to determine how many calories I should eat on a WEEKLY basis instead of a daily basis. That allowed me to 'rollover' unused calories from the week onto the weekend when I tend to eat a lot.

3. I weigh myself everyday BUT it is every Friday's weight that I use to determine if I am losing weight since I workout M-Th.

4. I only monitor my calorie intake. I find that I am aiming for 1500 for most of the week, I am already limited as to what I can eat (usually healthy stuff).

5. I do have treats during the week like some M&M's but if I do, I usually get those miniature Halloween-sized bags.

After a couple of weeks of this, I am finally out of the 190 range. I'm basically a 1.5 pounds lighter than last week even though I was only aiming for .5 pounds a week.
