Leg Day
Morning all, I'm looking for some inspiration to work my pins through heavy lifting (I am already doing a heavy lifting programme comprising of 6 compound moves). However in the near future I would like to intensify it and one area I would particularly like to focus on is legs and glutes... What do you do on leg day?

Protein pancake recipes please!
I've just bought a bag of delicious vanilla whey and fancy having a go at making some protein pancakes tomorrow morning before I head to the gym. Do any of you have some good recipes?

Timid Bulk
I thought I'd make that the heading rather than the more controversial 'body recomp' phrase which seems to get all manner of people into a right old tiz over whether it's actually feasible or not. Anyway....a little background before my question... I have switched over my training routine to a very varied one since March.…

Pre Workout Potions - Triumph of Marketing?
Afternoon all. I tried a pre workout drink today (freebie sachet I acquired a while ago). Now, it tasted fairly vile (Granade pre-workout if anyone has heard of it) but I had a good workout...though I'm not entirely sure this was in any way accountable to using this stuff. I wondered what people's thoughts were about…

Your Heart Only has so Many Beats...
Okay...this is one from a colleague at work. He's in his 50's used to be in the forces and fire brigade etc and we were talking about exercise and the workouts that we do. Then he regailed that back in his service days, there were always a bunch of guys that were doing marathons and cycling challenges etc and he then said…

Body Recomposition - getting a big butt and thighs! Gargh!
I have been on maintenance calories and really upping my strength workouts. At the moment I am trying to build up a good muscle foundation from years of being a cardio queen and only doing running as a form of exercise. I ended up with a very stringy physique, so I thought I'd change that to look more athletic and become…

Whey powder recipes

Looking for Runkeeper Friends
Afternoon all!!! I realised I have been using Runkeeper for a couple of years now and would love to add some running buddies onto it for motivation and cheer! I have done a couple of half marathons (and have one coming up in September). I'm currently trying to improve my 5k time and try and run about 3 times a week. My…

Measuring Body Fat
Morning all, Just a quick question about how you measure your body fat percentage. Would you recommend calipers (if so, how do you measure effectively with them), or the scales which determine muscle/fat? Ta muchly :flowerforyou:

Best You Tube workouts
Evening all, I was wondering if any of you use workouts on YouTube and if so, what would you recommend? I'm interested in anything really - though would love to find some good strength/dumbell workouts if possible. I have run a search on the inter web, but would like to know of an tried and tested by MFP peeps.

How to bulk and cut
Morning all, I have been doing some research into bulking and cutting and have quite a few questions. First of all, a little background about me....long term MFP user, 3 years in fact. 1 for weight loss, last two for maintenance. I do long distance running - planned half marathon in September which will be my 4th. However,…

Strength Training
Morning all, I wanted to get a bit of advice from people in the know about building up some strength. Predominantly I run, but I would really like to get stronger and have been doing a number of exercises to try and build up some strength, such as 'body pump' another toning class using weights and bands and also have been…

People with Fitbit & HRMs
Hello, I've been using a fitbit for a year now but want to have an HRM again as I am training for a half marathon. What I wanted to know was if you wore your fitbit and HRM together so you keep your step count? Thanks :flowerforyou:

Wear HRM to Body Pump class?
Evening all, I have started attending a body pump class to gain some strength and tone up and also ultimately improve my running. My new heart rate monitor has arrived and whilst I know that strength training isn't a great calorie burner and HRMs are not really that accurate at measuring calories burned doing weights, I…

Dinner Party Hell Food
So...it's a dinner party, your food choices are at the mercy of what your host is going to offer you. Being brought up with good manners, I find it hard to reject food I dislike that someone has gone to great effort and expense to prepare and I either will it to dissolve into the ceramic of the plate or, in one…

Race Day - run alone or accompanied?
Runners, I have a question... Today I mentioned on my news feed that I had told my new running buddy that when we run the half marathon we have signed up for I would prefer to do it alone. So we start together, do the race and have a massive celebration (and huge amount of food) after the race to mark the achievement. It…

If Anyone Likes Yorkshire Provender Soups - copy recipe!
I am totally in love with the Yorkshire Provender soup range with my favourite being the root vegetable and barley one. It's autumnal bliss. Anyway, I thought I would give a bash at recreating it myself going off the ingredient list on the back of the tup and managed to create something really very similar and certainly as…

Pimms Jelly Dessert
Okay - I quite like to eat my calories and half a pint of Pimms with fruit in jelly for me is bliss, especially with the hot English weather we have at the moment - whoop! :glasses: Anyway, all you'll need is: Sachet of sugarfree jelly I used strawberry but fully planning on making stripy versions with three different…

Plantar Fasciitis
Hello, Does anyone have any experience or advice on the above? The Willpower Delusion
Good article in The Times - I have cut and pasted for your perusal..... The WillPower Delusion Amanda Ursell Dieting through sheer force of willpower doesn’t work for most people. People with Fitbits.....thoughts please : )
Okay, I'm seriously considering buying a Fitbit (possibly in the next couple of days) but have completed some research on the interweb and mainly people say they are good. However a couple of concerns were..... the recording when travelling, apparently they can become inaccurate if you travel by car or train during a day…

In Maintenance, coming off logging calories?
Has anyone stepped away from logging calories after following the MFP programme to their goal? I've been in maintenance since around October last year and have been on MFP for nearly, exactly a year. It's been fantastic, I am thinner and healthier than I have probably ever been before. I also have up smoking in January…

Might be a stupid question....
But can you build muscle on maintenance cals or do you actually need to exceed them? If so, by how many roughly? I currently maintain at around 1650-1800 cals a day and ensure I eat back all my exercise cals on strength days (mainly because I tend to feel hungrier!) Thanks guys! :flowerforyou:

Girls - Strength/Resistance Training Stats & Advice Please!
Hi everyone, Right I'm trying to wean myself away from being a cardio junkie and try and build up some muscle mass, although I'm moderately concerned that I have been the gym this morning and only burned a mere 160 cals doing strength and 6 minutes cardio (warm-up) I know that when my arms are hurting tomorrow I will feel…

Weight Gain from Muscle Training & any tips welcome!

I was curious how many days a week you guys spend at the gym? (if you are a member). I'm aiming for 5 days, switching between cardio, strength and swimming to keep my interest up.
