Activity level
I work a sedentary job, but I walk on my breaks every day. That totals one hour 5 times a week. I try to take the dog for long walks on the weekends, and if it is not cold I will walk her for shorter walks in the evenings. Sometimes I will spend a long time walking around the stores (window-shopping has become my new…

Osteoarthritis affecting my motivation
So I have early onset arthritis. I was reading that arthritis could begin developing long before symptoms are noticed. I can remember having my joints pop in childhood so I am thinking that I have been dealing with it my whole life. Very often I dismiss the pain and stiffness because I am so used to it at this point. I…

Eat before a run?
I'm strongly considering adding an early morning run to my fitness regimen. When I first wake up, though, I am usually starving. For the morning runners out there, do you breakfast before or after your run?

Mini Resolutions
So this year, I was thinking instead of making a blanket New Year's resolution that I would make a mini resolution for each month of the year. Simpler to achieve, and I stand a better chance of making them life long habits. I plan to start in January by making myself get up at 5am everyday, including weekends, to work out.…

To unwrap or not to unwrap presents
My kids are begging me for a Christmas eve preview. We always opened one present on Christmas Eve when I was a kid, but they only have a handful of gifts (5 or 6) under the tree this year. I've kind of cut back since my kids are bigger and don't really believe in Santa anymore. I just don't want to spoil them too much…

Getting over it
So I developed feelings for someone and it didn't work out... Little to no physical contact (friends at most) and now he is completely absent from my life, totally of his own volition. The problem is I am still thinking about this guy, and I am completely mad about it because I realize that he totally doesn't deserve my…

What is eating clean?
I here this expression a lot. But I don't think everyone's idea of eating clean is the same as others. What is your idea of the meaning of the expression 'eating clean'?

How I have changed my lifestyle since joining MFP!
I now buy peanut M&M's instead of the plain for the added protein. More nutritional value. Don't judge! LOL!

Cooking with wine?
I come from a family of tee-totalers (not that I don't partake). I have never cooked with wine. I wouldn't even know where to buy cooking wine. But I see yummy recipes that I want to try all the time. Are there any substitutes for wine in recipes? Or does anyone know what brands and stores carry cooking wines?

What do you see when you look at the mirror/pictures?
I was in a wedding this past weekend. I have been losing because I wanted to look good. I spent a lot of money too. And while I don't think I looked bad, I didn't really like the way that I looked in the pictures and I was disappointed. I started this journey because I didn't want to be unhappy with my appearance anymore.…

My body is getting harder!!
I still have a lot of fat to lose. I'm more than half way but I'm still obese. But, I've been noticing areas of my body are getting firmer than they ever have before... legs, butt, and a little in the arms are starting to feel really solid. This makes me happy!! Just wanted to share.

Circuit Training Programs and Arthritis
So I have been really impressed with the results pics that people have been posting after 30DS, P90X, and others. I've also been told that the program helps to tighten up skin so I would like to give it a shot. The problem is my osteoarthritis. Can anyone recommend a program that isn't too hard on the joints?

Tried something new
So I am a big cereal fan. I have never tried Kashi or almond milk before, but yesterday when I was at the store, I thought, "Hey, why not?" This morning I had the honey almond flax with the almond milk for breakfast. Very not bad. I had to let it sog a bit because it was really hard. I'm not used to that and the cereal…

Food Scale Options
So my kid decided that she wanted to do her science project on calories. Obviously, because she has heard me talk about how I'm losing weight and she is curious. So we looked up a science project online on how to build a bomb calorimeter. I'm really excited about doing the experiment, but I have a problem. The experiment…

Looking for suggestions
I've lost a lot of fat, and I have a lot of fat to go. But my muscle has become more apparent, at least to me, and I'm not happy with it. I would like to improve muscle tone while still losing fat. I never seem to get enough protein. I started out doing resistance and strength training, but have since, bailed on those…

What exactly are HRM's counting?
This question came to me on another thread and I didn't get an answer. Do HRM's count only calories burned during exercise? Or do they also count the calories burned during anabolic metabolism as well?

Obese vs Overweight
So I am constantly in the forums debating the safety of NOT eating back your exercise calories. I am not going to do that anymore. Most people do not/will not/can not see any way other than what they think is right. (Of course, their opinions will change when the next study comes out.) Anyway... I realize that I defend…

Has anyone else noticed
I've noticed that if I am under in calories but over in just my fat macro, then I don't lose or gain. I weigh daily so I can monitor what foods affect my body in what ways. This is something that I have noticed in the last 6 months. Just curious if anyone else has noticed it or if anyone has any information they can share.

Lunch Confessions
So for lunch today, I had a Campbell's tomato soup-at-hand and a packet of Lance grilled cheese crackers. I know I shouldn't have done the crackers, but for as much as I love tomato soup, I just can't eat it by itself. At least, I didn't go for the Cloverhill honey doughnuts in the vending machine. I have really been…

New shoes
It's time for me to get a new pair of shoes. I want to get a good pair. I have some issues with my feet and the lack of a good pair of shoes has caused the problem. I have high arches, plantar's fasciitis, arthritis in my knees, and I have nerve damage in my toes from wearing shoes too tight. Can anybody suggest a good…

I had this dream
I dreamt last night that I was completely emaciated. That I had lost so much weight that I had become sick. Of course, I have no intention of letting that happen. I have been eating very healthy and exercising. I am nowhere near emaciated or in danger of becoming sick. I haven't even made it to "overweight" status yet. Can…

I might just be a little cooky...
So, I realized this morning that I am truly doing this. By this time next year, I will have the healthy, beautiful body I have always dreamed of. Then, I suddenly felt a little anxious. For a brief moment, I questioned myself about whether or not I really wanted to continue to lose. It seemed very odd to me to feel that…

Buyer's Remorse (Body Media Fit)?
Okay. So I clicked on MFP's add for the Body Media Fit and I learned a little. I searched the message boards and learned a little more. But I still have some questions. 1. Is there anyone here that regrets buying it and why? 2. Is the subscription service necessary to use the device? 3. If you have one, what DON'T you like…

Jogging with arthritis
I tore two major ligaments in my knee in my late 20's and as a result I have early onset osteoarthritis. It's kept me from moving a lot and naturally I put on weight. I was already heavy at the time so my situation was further compounded. At one point, I avoided using that leg at all cost and the muscles atrophied to the…

Craving More Calories
I don't know if its because I quit smoking or because my calorie goal has dropped or if after 60 lbs my body is totally rebelling. Either way, I am craving higher calorie foods. Now that my goal has been lowered I've been eating back most of my exercise calories so I don't want to hear that I should go ahead and eat more.…

The Droid phone app
I've been using the Blackberry app, and I love it, though it is not very versatile. You can log food, track all nutrition categories, and weigh in. That is about the extent of the apps features. I've been thinking of getting a Droid and I was wondering what the MFP app on Droid is like.
