Sleep function
I'm wondering if anyone has any insight. I've been using my Charge HR for a week. It seems to drastically underreport sleep--or at least thinks I'm awake when I think I'm asleep. For example, last night I went to bed around 11:30 and got up around 7:00 a.m. As far as I could tell I slept most of that time, but the FB…

Cooked salmon recipes
I have lovely broiled salmon. I usually break it up and put it in salad, but my sweetie would prefer something hot. Any ideas for interesting lo-cal entrees that use cooked salmon? Thanks.

Roasted Seaweed
I just tried "Roasted Seaweed Snack" from Trader Joe's. The whole package is 60 cals. It satisfies that salty/crunchy thing, and the sodium level isn't even that outrageous. They're better than I imagined, and once I adjusted to the new flavor, I am really liking them.

Heat and heart rate
I use a HRM (Polar FT 60) when I jog to monitor calories burned. I have noticed that in the heat my heart rate increases with less exertion. So, do I actually burn more calories in the heat for the same amount of exercise?

I did it!!
I ran my first 5K. I would never ever have believed it. C25K is a miracle for me. My finish time was 30 minutes 34 seconds. Don't know if that's good or what, but I DID IT! And, my local hospice, that took great care of my Mom in her final days, benefitted too.

VO2 questions
I need help from all you exercise physiology gurus. I got a Polar FT60 HRM. One of its features is a "fitness test" that is supposed to give you the VO2 #. It tested me at "25" which is "fair" for my age group. I recently went to my health care provider, and they did a test where I ran on a treadmill, with a mask and hrm,…

Running, what's next?
I completed C25K on 1/9/12. Since graduation I have been running 30 minutes, 3 times a week. On the alternate days I walk. So, M,W,F I run for 30 and walk for 30, T,T,S,S, I walk for 60. I still find the running quite a challenge. Someone told me that the running would be easier if I did it every day. Really? I wasn't…

First failure
So, I tried to do week 9 run 1 and failed :( . At 16 minutes I was toast. It was hotter than usual, I was running a different path and was running with a buddy instead of my I-pod. There was a lot more unrelenting uphill that I was used to. Would it be bad to try again today, under the conditions I'm more used to? It's…

NSV
Bought some size 10 jeans! I started out a size 18. Now, I think the pair I bought are vanity sizing, and I'm really more of a 14, but still . . . . And wearing them I got a lot of comments noticing my progress.

Couch25k
Well, I downloaded it to my phone almost 2 months ago--but today I went out and did day 1. Tell me it gets easier  Like banging my head against a wall--felt so good when I stopped.

Hills vs Flats
So I hope this isn't too dumb of a question. I do a 3.5 mile loop brisk walking and the route has hills. Since I start and end at the same elevation, is it the same calories burned as if I did a 3.5 mile loop on level ground? I don't have an HRM yet--if I'm lucky, Santa will bring one. In the meantime, I was wondering if…

nsv
May sound like a small thing, but for me it is HUGE. I noticed that I am now only interested in (obsessed with) eating when I'm actually hungry. Food as fuel--what a concept.

Confused about the magic 1200
So, I keep reading posts where folks are saying that 1200 is a bad idea, not sustainable, makes you prone to regain. MFP started me out at 1270, and recently dropped me to 1210. That's for losing 1 lb a week. I'm averaging about .5 a lb a week. I'm okay with that, as long as the direction is downward--but I would like to…

Me too please
Just saw a post where folks reviewed someone's diary and offered suggestions. What a great idea. I'd appreciate anyone who would do the same for me. So far the weight loss seems to be going okay, but I'm kinda hungrier than I'd like. Yesterday I kinda succumbed, but otherwise, I've been pretty vigilant. I don't track water…
