Challenge: Can you stop nighttime snacking for a whole month
A little over a year ago, my friend dewdrop put out a challenge to forgo snacking at night. It was a great challenge and helped me lose a little weight. For several months thereafter, I renewed her challenge. Unfortunately, I fell off the wagon. Now, after a hiatus of several months, I am back on mfp. I need the…

The New "No more late night snacks challenge"
Dewpearl originally started this great challenge, but it seems to have died off. Since we just started a new year, made new (or old) resolutions and have members who have just joined mfp, I thought I'd renew her challenge. First, determine what time works best for you as a cut-off time after which NO MORE SNACKS. Then,…

Tuesday morning Purples
Good morning Purple Team- I'm glued to my TV, watching the inauguration. I should be at the Y or doing chores, but here I am. I am so afraid that I'll over-indulge since I am watching TV. I am not a political person, but today is about so much more than politics. It is history in the making and I can't seem to drag myself…

Purple Team Challenge - Week 2
Hi- Our leader has a long day today and asked that someone start a challenge for the week, and keep it fairly easy. So, here goes. Each day through Tuesday, we will add 10 minutes of activity to our day. It can be 10 more minutes of exercise at home or the gym or a 10 minute walk or going up and down the stairs for 5…

Where's the Blue Team?
I realized I haven't seen a Blue Team thread yet and thought I'd start one. So, how is everyone and what have you been up to? I've been substitute teaching last week and this week so I haven't been on my computer as much. What I have been doing is running around school all day and not raiding my kitchen cupboards all day…

hungry, cranky and discouraged
I think the title says it all - hungry, cranky and discouraged. I don't mean to be a downer, but I'm hoping I'll feel better if I vent. This is at least the 2nd or 3rd time my ticker has gone in the wrong direction. It's my own fault. I guess I don't want to lose weight enough or be healthy enough to starve or spend every…

Do you trust treadmill calorie counts?
I log about 35 miles a week of treadmill walking. Bad knees and back prevent running. I usually have the treadmill at the highest incline - #15 and walk about 5 mph. The calorie count is usually about 1450 when I enter my current age and weight. Does this sound right or should I be discounting this count?

Avoiding temptation
Today is my 3rd day using mfp and I think it's great. I've already lost 3 pounds. My issue for today is how to avoid the temptation of snacks and desserts (my husband made the BEST bread pudding) with a houseful of guests coming this afternoon and for dinner. My husband plans on making Belgian waffles tomorrow morning for…
