Disney Full Marathon January 2013
Anyone on here planning on running the Full Marathon in Disney World January 2013?

too much fiber?
How much fiber is really too much? My automated goal is 19, which I usually exceed by at least 10-15 grams due to eating fiber rich beans, fruits & vegetables. Is that a "bad" thing? It hasn't hindered my weight loss in any at all! I just wondered since it posts "in the red" on my dairy almost every day!

Enjoying life along the way to that magical number...
"The trick is to enjoy life. Don't wish away your day waiting for better ones ahead." - Marjorie Pay Hinckley So often I read posts on the boards from people who are desperate to get to a certain weight. You can just read the pain and unhappiness in their posts. They are willing to try any fad, cleanse, or mail order diet…

My Marathon Journey
My Marathon Journey…26.2 miles to reclaim “ME” Yep that’s me in December of 2008. I feel like there should be a booming boxing ring announcer belting out: “And in this corner weighing in at 224 miserable pounds is Kelly!” Barely recognizable to myself anymore is that photo likeness of what I had become. Outside looking in…

Magic Bullet Love Affair....need some advice ;)
I admit it, i'm having a love afair with my magic bullet lil' blender! Loving my morning smoothies :) I know alot of people put protein powder in there but I've never tried any...got any good recommendations? I would really like to be able to use something I don't have to go to a specialty shop and spend a fortune on too.…

Putting one foot in front of the other = Success!
2 years ago I started my journey to become a runner. I was always involved in team sports throughout my school years. But as the years passed so did my involvement with the sports I used to identify myself with as an 'athlete'. Then came college, marriage, work, and then babies. With each new chapter came the addition of a…

Galloway running ratio for marathons? HELP!
To all my runner pals out there I need some advice! I'm training for my first full marathon in November. I speed train 2x a week doing 3-4 miles on the treadmill or outside. I have been adding a mile to every weekend long run. Yesterday I got up to 11 consecutive miles with no break at 10:30 pace. Very pleased with this &…

Getting "THERE"....where that is exactly I don't know!
So I was on the treadmill this morning doing my normal Tuesday ladder training. All proud of myself at the end of my 35 minutes that I had done 5 x's 1 min at 7.0 and even 2 x 30 seconds at 7.5...personal best for me, so wooohooo! Then during cool down it dawned on me that someone in our running club runs at that 7.5 or…

core training suggestions??
I really want to tighten up my core/ab area this year. My legs are strong from running and my arms are getting there with lots of work. So what's left my dreaded post c-section ab area. I'm learning to love it it did after all give me two healthy babies. I just wish I could love it because of how great it looked! I have…

definition of insanity
Journal entry from yesterday, I think worth sharing..... So another Monday morning after a weekend of ****ty eating, little activity and way to much alcohol last night. I sit here at my work desk, bloated, defeated, hung-over, and most importantly utterly disgusted with myself. This cycle must stop! I'm so disciplined…

never thought I'd GAIN weight training for a marathon!
Yep it's true, stepped on the scale this morning and I'm up <GASP> 4 pounds. I almost cried, then I calmed myself remembering I can vary ~2 pounds a day anyway but 4? I had my first long run of the new year Saturday, 8 nice steady miles. Ran 2 other days & did cardio + weights 2 other days = 5 days of exercise. Where the…

Dear motivation, where ohhh where have you gone???
I’m sitting here mentally checking in with myself half way through IMO the toughest foodie month of the year. December is a month full of pitfalls like holiday parties and fresh baked traditions of cookies & casseroles that add inches to your waist line. Food is associated with so many memories and traditions in our…

Exercise...much cheaper than therapy!
"Sweat cleanses from the inside. It comes from places a shower will never reach." - Dr. George Sheehan I found this quote today thumbing through my runners world magazine on the commute in to work (relax, I wasn't driving I was on the bus) and it really got me thinking. At my heaviest weight after my second child was one…

New clothes....new me!
So this past couple weeks I've been on a mission to revamp my frumpy outdated closet full of big boring dark clothes. Something finally hit me that I don't need to hang onto the last of my fat clothes like some security blankie. I guess there is still some little part of me that is afraid I won't be able to keep the weight…

ZUMBA dvd suggestions?
Anyone have any good suggestions for zumba dvd's? Can't ever seem to make it to the scheduled classes where I live they are like 30 minutes away. I love going and would like to more but it's just not happening! Hoping to add a Zumba DVD to my exercise library...selection is the spice of life right? ;)

Negla-ments
We've all been on the receiving end of a few negative compliments in our lives....I have been receiving them so often lately that I actually feel the need vent about what I call the "neglament". At least daily I run into somebody who says, "wow I didn't recognize you, you look so different". Normally it's followed by you…

1st half marathon completed...runners high is real I tell ya
I'm siting back to take a moment out of my busy day to reflect upon the monumental task I just completed........I JUST RAN 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes. Holy hell! I can't even begin to describe the amount of pride I feel that I ran that far, let alone that fast. I've been on cloud 9 since my husband and I finished…
