Going backwards on the elliptical
Anyone every do this? I tried it today and wow...it hurts LOL! From what I'm gathering you're supposed to do the same amount backward that you did forward. I'm not sure I could do that :noway:

Is it possible to have 4+ lbs of water weight?
Seriously...I have lost 4lbs in as many days...and it's weirding me out...A LOT! I knew I was eating a lot of sodium so I increased my water intake. I'm hoping that's what's going on. I've totally been eating 1300+ cals a day...and havent even been on my regular exercise routine this week because of the hubs schedule. I'm…

What's your most embarrassing "food moment"?
Have you ever sat down and ate a box of Oreos...ALONE. How about an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting? Birthday cake for breakfast? Those things you eat and then you look down and it's GONE...and you think to yourself..."Oh my God...I just ate that." Then you swear to never admit it....maybe even hide the evidence.…

Spotting after working out? (Men of MFP - I'm sorry)
So today I did 35 minutes on the elliptical on intervals (resistance 4, incline 2 for 2 min, resistance 6, incline 8 for 2 min) 5min cool down...then I came home, ate lunch and did my strength training with ChaLean Extreme while my husband was out doing PT. When he came home, we went to take a shower (:blushing: ) and I…

I need some food help...bad!
Ok...you're gonna need some background to understand this. My husband and I have 2 children. It's always the 4 of us and it's easy to stay within my grocery budget and still feed everyone healthy, whole foods. For 3 weeks every summer, his 3 children from his first marriage stay with us. (They are coming in tonight…

Target HR zone and working out at max
Ok, so I find that on the treadmill or low incline hiking...my HR stays in the "training zone"....130ish to 150ish. When doing the elliptical (which I LOVE)...I'm maxed out...170-175 average...MAX 192..but I burn more cals. From what I've been reading...working out at that HR is either counterproductive or dangerous. I…

Subtract BMR from exercise - within the margin of error?
So yesterday I did some pretty intense elliptical work...my HRM estimated a 530ish calorie burn. Now, where we would debate that we should subtract our BMR from that number to get the actual calorie burn....MFP estimated the same burn...and the BMR allowance is supposed to already be calculated. So if MFP and my HRM are…

Protein Powders - I don't like chalk!
I'm thinking I need to start using some protein powder. I need the supplement. I've never tried ANY before. I know some are going to push Shakeology. I don't want it. It's just not in my budget. I've looked into Body Factory Bodyfuel.. I eyeballed Trader Joe's whey protein but I'm scared to spend the money to end up…

Ok tell me the truth...
I work out every day. Literally...I do SOMETHING...every day. Of course, some days are heavier than others. Some days I do both strength and cardio...some days just strength, some just cardio. This week I did 3 strength and 3 cardio....is it bad if I do nothing today but rest? I feel guilty! I should do something light at…

Those who claim to be "full" off less than 1200 cals per day
At the risk of sounding insensitive...why is it so difficult for some people to understand that eating less than 1200 cals a day is STARVING YOURSELF! The claims to be "full" at the end of the day on -800 cals is insane! (Unless you're sick or have some other issues). Do you not realize that the weight lost will be…

Trouble getting enough potassium
I'm always super low... Like for the most part not even close to goal. Any ideas aside from supplements?

Watching "Addicted to Food" on Discovery Health
...and I gotta say... I feel SO SORRY for those people. The guy on is 700lbs and completely overwhelmed. It puts things in perspective, ya know. While we're doing 30 day shreds and p90x and running and hiking and walking and elliptical...etc etc.. The most this guy can do for exercise is to lay on his back and throw a ball…

Measuring rice?
Ok, there is probably a way to do this that I'm just not thinking of...and I'm sure I will feel insanely stupid once someone explains it to me...but here goes: I like to use Imperial Dragon Jasmine Rice as the rice accompaniment in chinese stir fry dishes I make for dinners sometimes...but the label only labels cals for…

Unhealthiest Juices in America
http://health.yahoo.com/experts/eatthis/53268/unhealthiest-juices-in-america/ Think of your all-time favorite rock song: Hey Jude, London Calling, Smells Like Teen Spirit, whatever. Now imagine that the next time you crank it up, all the guitar riffs will be replaced by violins. Kinda weak, right? Well that’s akin to what…

It's not my scale either....I just recently had Satan calibrated. Just goes to show you the DRASTIC changes…

Keep it movin, movin. Keep it movin'
How many calories do you aim to burn in a day with exercise? Do you go by your MFP goals? Personal goals? Or whatever you have the energy to do? Do you ever have to stop yourself from exercising even though you have the energy so you won't burn too many in one day?
