Oh yes PATSY, I've noticed the spelling "correcting". In my case it can be quite funny if I don't check before posting. I see John thinks Mardi Gras is a bazaar, whilst I think YOU meant he thinks it bizarre! It all adds to life's rich tapestry. Wonders, this time MFP isn't changing anything here!
    Have fun everyone, Anne.

Giving my MFP opinion, I can't see anyone's pictures on my Samsung Tablet 4 on the Newfeed. They
are over the left hidden somewhere. But....I have noticed some of my food that I have put in previously
seems to disappear now. At least everything is in normal size on my tablet. When I use our Windows
10 everything is huge and the posts are off the page and you can find the Post reply at all. Very frustrating.

Happy Mardi Gras to all that celebrate Fat Tuesday.

Anne- No snow here, sunny but the temperatures will be plummeting by the weekend. Down to 2F and probably some snow.

Today was chiropractor this morning and I bought some compression socks for the plane ride over
to our destination which she sells. Made my next apt. and an extra apt. for a full hour massage which
was a Christmas gift from my DH.

Making some sauerkraut, sausage and carrots in the crockpot for our dinner tonight. Choir practice tonight and no snow to contend with on the roads. :)

Happy Tuesday!! :) Got some sleep last night so was able to ride my bike when Robby took his nap. I always feel good once I get my exercise done early so I don't have to do it tonight.
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and a day of fast, so no meat tomorrow and nothing in between meals. I am over the age of fasting but I do it anyway and I don't eat meat of Fridays during lent. I am not big on giving anything up although I tell myself I should give up wine. Probably won't happen though although I would certainly lose weight if I did.

I don't seem to be having any problems with MFP and I am using Windows 10. It is more difficult on my IPad but I do most of my posting on my desktop computer.

Even with it being Fat Tuesday I don't eat any of the pastries that a lot of people eat. I try to watch my sugar in take as much as I can so desserts are not usually in my diet. I do like sugar free ice cream cups and sugar free Popsicles but that is about the only sweets I eat. There are occasions where I might have a dessert but those are far between. My biggest downfall is salty treats even those low in calories but we all know what salt does.

Tomorrow as soon as Lisa gets here I will go to Mass for my ashes and then go straight to bingo. I asked Lisa if she and Robby wanted to go but she will let me know tomorrow.
So I probably won't be checking in tomorrow other than to check posts.

    Have a great evening.

Beautiful day here today. I was able to go on a nice walk on the hill. Lovely and warm for a CalgRy winter n

Had the most delicious lunch - steamed mussels with quinoa salad. Wow so good. Now back to the real world for supper.

    Hugs to all

Fun California lording session today and I won a prize. For the folks who attended the first two get together she drew a name and it wa mine. I received a lovely coloring book of mandalas, a set of colored pencils and a sharpener. The book is very nice. It was so cold and windy when I left the library I couldn't believe it. The windy blew me off course and I thought I would fall but I didn't thank heavens.

On another topic I was surprised today. I was transferring some money from one local bank to another. Neither will allow electronic funds transfers. You can have monthly income deposited but you cannot move money from institution to institution. (I have other accounts where this is permitted.). Anyway, I deposited the local check and they saw it came from my own account but they a TEN DAY hold on the funds. They told me they have no discretion, when the deposit is made some algorithm decides if a hold will be placed and for how long depending on things like current balance, how often I conduct transactions with them etc. Well thank goodness I was not planning on paying any large bills from this account for a while. But I will have to plan further in the future!!

Okay, not solicited advice but a lady at coloring this afternoon said she was feeling so much better. She had been suffering from horrendous nerve pain in her hands and her legs and doctors didn't know what was going on. Anyway Barbie, they put her on that same medication you have been taking gabapentin (?). It was not helping much. She went to a naturopath in an nearby state who put her on these two supplements (which she has to send for I think). 1) alpha-lipoid acid 500 mg twice daily, 2) co-enzymatied (? Her writing is not clear) mylated B-complex no strength specified twice daily. So she says this has totally alleviated her pain. Thought I would share just in case.

Well, Ash Wednesday coming up soon and I would like to do something but cannot get a conviction as to what. I had a friend who tried to fast through Lent and got very sick so that wouldn't be my choice.

Hoping to get another couple of errands done tomorrow, another cold one predicted.

Jeri, glad you got a nice day and a lovely walk. Ticking down to your trip to Florida.

Sandy, enjoy bingo tomorrow!! Send me any suggestions for lent that you might want to share with me.

Shirley, hope choir practice goes well. You mentioned Bright Line Eating at one point. I listened to all of her presentations and walked away for two reasons, first, I didn't believe in the method and second it was uber expensive!! I have followed the blogs of a number of people who did go ahead with the program and only one person is still hanging in there with it. The rest quit as they found it unmanageable for the long term.

Anne and Buzz, my iPad has a sense of humor I guess as it always puts together the most ridiculous wording. I usually don't catch it. I count on you to interpret.

Jackie, happy antique hunting. Finding the right thing can take a while.

Marie, happy day to you. What does Jerry think of how well you are doing??

    Hugs everyone.

:) three weeks ago the neurologist sent me for diagnostic blood tests that turned out to be a fasting test and they took six large and four small vials of blood. Finally last night I got a notification that my test results were available online for me to see. I didn't look at them because I wouldn't have understood them and I would most likely have jumped to conclusions about them. So at 9:30 this morning I called the doctor's office and said that I'd gotten notification about the test results but would look at them only in the presence of the doctor with my husband there so he could explain the results to me and tell me what comes next. I was kind and clear but very insistent that I needed to see a professional. I got a call back an hour later and will be seeing the doctor at 2 PM on Thursday. I have lived with this nerve pain for more than four months and have been able to walk the dogs, dance, and ride the exercise bike with the help of Gabapentin and occasional ibuprofen, but it would be nice to know what the pain is from and if there is a way to get rid of it.

Good morning everyone, I woke up to another snowy morning the same as yesterday. It melted as the day went on. Maybe it will today.

This morning I received a text from the friend I walk dogs with before 8 am saying since it was raining yet again she wouldn't be walking on the moors so after waiting a couple of hours out came the sun and George and I had a lovely stroll alone even though as another dog walker I saw said, it was more of a squelch!! Perfect timing as hail crashed down just as I popped dog poo bag into bin on returning to car park! Since then I've made what smells like a delicious 6 bean (note not 16 Anne!!) that I'll enjoy this evening and am now about to get on with never ending housework. No luck at the auction viewing although I did see one antique oak dining table but the top needed lots of restoration and I have too many other projects on at the moment. Another auction to view on Sunday so the search continues and at least I do love rummaging through all the collectibles and antiques!

Anne ~ Hopefully your snow is melting but please don't send it this way!! We've been promised a change to "bitter" cold weather on Sunday but hopefully now we're into February it won't last long.

Barbie ~ Many of our GP practices are now using Skype to diagnose illnesses and I do wonder where health care is heading. Well done you for insisting on an appointment to discuss your results and have the opportunity to question and hopefully you'll finally get answers that will help ease the pain.

Lin ~ Money laundering by crooks and terrorists now means nothing much moves without proof of ID and copious copies of utility bills to prove we are who we say we are so perhaps that's why you couldn't make a straightforward transfer. Sounds like the perfect prize for you to have won now that you are enjoying colouring books so I'm sure you'll have fun with it. Since losing weight I find I struggle more in a high wind and my walking friend who has now lost close to 40 lbs is feeling the difference too. Yesterday we had a good laugh when she stepped into a puddle that turned out to be thick mud that came close to sucking her boot off so I had to drag her out!!

Sandy ~ In every other respect you take good care of yourself so I'm sure the occasional glass of wine won't do you much harm. I know the experts say it's empty calories but other adjustments can be made. When I first retired I enjoyed a glass of wine with my evening meal but noticed one glass became two and then a third was contemplated so I stopped altogether and feel better in myself without it and certainly sleep better!

Oh dear, I just glanced at George with my reading glasses on and he looks so shaggy I'm going to have to give him a good grooming session later today. That after my housework and it's already gone 2.30 so I'll get on.

    Hello to all I missed.

    Good morning friends.
This week was busy and will be the next few days. Tuesday we did our regular Tuesday lunch at the senior center. We go an hour early and visit with friends and stay after visiting too. We all like getting together once a week.
We had errands to run and got everything done.

    my day today
Breakfast, 2 boiled eggs, apple, and black coffee.
    Some toning exercises.
Finish making placemats to donate to a church raffle.
    lunch, not sure yet
    DVD exercise.
    Dinner, 16 bean soup
    Church Ash Wednesday today.

My son has lost 55 lbs and bought new jeans. He went from size 40 waist to 34 so far. He is so happy feeling good and less back pain. Love him for taking care Of himself.

Today is a good day for a good day.

Chris - Wonderful news about your son taking better care of himself.
I'm looking forward to a quiet day (hopefully) and to finally finishing up some much needed paperwork time in the office.

Hello friends - while you are having a soggy day Jackie, we are having snow again. Much more than they had expected. I made a trip to obtain fresh vegetables this morning and am all stocked up and ready to make soup again tomorrow. It was not pleasant out there though with lots of slow traffic, slick roads, and people unable to see out of their windows due to all the snow.

I found several other things at Walmart this morning. One thing I've always wanted is Hello Kitty fleece sleep pants and I found them in clearance today. Yippee! I am washing them up now and expect to wear them tonight.

Hope your day is productive Marcella.

Anne, happy snow day to you.

    Later.

    Lin

P.S. And by the way, I have to show my DL in order to make a deposit at my local banks now. No cash back, just a deposit. It is getting nuts out there.
  • Three weeks and still counting since I began to feel unwell. Today, Jim says to me, " I don't like it when you feel bad, you look awful! Somebody will think I'm beating on you."
Tomorrow, I'll be wearing my makeup.

    Anne, you are too quiet

PHOEBE, to heck with the makeup; WHY are you feeling poorly? Cover-ups don't make anything go away, so what's going on with you? I'm sure Jim is worried and expressed it in the way men tend to express their feelings! I recall you saw a doctor, but did you receive any solid answers? You know we all love you, dimples, so fill us in, please? <3
JACKIE, so if it's just you and your pet friends in your adorable cottage, you mean to say your housekeeping hasn't eased up either? Here I keep thinking Mike is my excuse!!! Also, was that mud possibly quicksand your friend needed to be pulled out of? Or am I watching too much horror TV? Oh well.
I'm running late due to all the paperwork and online transfers involved in my advisor's change of work base! It seems nothing ever goes easily and smoothly, and I could not use my own ID because years ago she was with the same firm and I used it then! Phooey!
CHRIS, did your son loose on WW, too? Incredible loss!
    Have a lovely evening, y'all...

Buzz, Headache, finally gone after 2 1/2 weeks. Dr. thinks it's stress. Nausea, low appetite, dizzy all still with me. Cough improving slowly. Chills and fever, better.

Oh MY, LIN, I LOVE your hello kitty sleep pants. I thought my butterfly pants were pretty exotic, but.....feel like doing a swap?

Hi PHOEBE, I'm sorry you are still feeling unwell, no fun at all. My new year started with the tv going down, then the furnace stopping working and me tripping over the space heater in my socks with resulting bruises. Well at great expense I bought new slippers with grip soles to keep me anchored to the floor and then promptly tripped on discarded slippers in the bathroom. No injury this time, just a laugh at the irony of it. Last week I started on a huge box of shortbread I received for Christmas. Being born in the year of the pig and a glutton to boot, I couldn't resist cramming this normally forbidden "fruit" in my mouth so I ended up with a stomach allergy. (Preservatives in food are the downfall.) To add to this I started to use some rather dubious toiletries I again received for Christmas and 3 days later I was covered in red wheals which prickled like you wouldn't believe. The raccoons are now enjoying the shortbread, the garbage bin the toiletries.
So I guess the year of the monkey is going to be an interesting one if this continues. However all my woes are purely my own fault, so I sincerely hope YOU are on the mend soon. I must admit an application of lipstick lifts my spirits up!

I remember that "grip your boot mud" well JACKIE, especially when walking near the river bank and particularly near the lock gates behind my childhood home. The lock gates are now gone and the creek they controlled is now inside a tunnel apparently. How sad, I spent many a happy day sitting on those lock gates fishing for tiddlers as a child. One of the kids who lived on the street fell off the lock gates into the creek and was fished out by the guy who controlled the gates during high tides with a long pole. He took her home, where she promptly got a clip over the ear for falling in! A less gentle age I guess, but I'm glad I got to fish for tiddlers rather than sit at home playing video games!

Now how about some fun with our pyjama bottoms? I'll post a photo of my butterflies, even though I think LIN is the winner so far. Here goes and if it doesn't work, I'll say goodnight now, Anne.

The tops are not memorable Marie but they do exist (purchased separately). A long-sleeved brightish purple top for the monkeys and a red long-sleeved top with sparkly words like Joy on the front for the Kitties. I like to wear pink and red together.

My dearest Marie I stay well covered to keep warm. :D

    Phoebe - I echo Buzz - what's up?

    Lin - so nice

Buzz - I'm counting down the days to Florida.

I was able to get out and do another walk today. It is so much nicer to walk outside than the treadmill but I did fo 30 minutes on the treadmill too. Trying so hard to get in my 10,000 steps each day. My sore ankles aren't always up to it, but I try.

    Have a wonderful day tomorrow.

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.

    Strategy is stronger than willpower.

    1056287i3zmwzup2m.gifStats for today:
    16,000 steps
    151 minutes of dog walking
89 minutes riding the exercise bike
weight training---added 2 pounds to my lifts :)
    line dance class

:) I heard from the nurse at the neurologist's office that all my blood tests were negative which should sound like good news but doesn't answer the question of what's causing the pain, tingling, and numbness in my legs....I'll see the doctor tomorrow.

Really late but my eyes are open and my brain is still chugging along. I am going to be counting sheep and listening to that special non-musical music John calls numbing spa music.

Lin: I have a worn out pair of dog slippers just like those from LL Bean. I love them...too much really. They need to be retired with a new pair.

Jeri: I can tell your beautiful forest road is not in Oregon. No moss. No blackberries....

Phoebe: their are lots of people here with the CRUD. Please have your Dr. Check you for pneumonia. Almost half the folks around here end up with it. Of Course, it is cold and wet here.

My night wear is simply horrible looking. I need to up grade. I am most comfortable in a big old tee shirt and a disgusting pair pj bottoms. Okay sneakers, you have taught me a lesson. Ditch the ugly rags and get some butterfly/hello kitty pjs.

Barbi: I have to take gabapentin for diabetic neuropathy. It seems to have very few if any side effects. I have to really keep an eye on my blood sugar. But I know you have a healthy diet and exercise.

    Sleep well my friends,
    Patsy

The lovely thing about jammies is; you can go as outrageous as you like. Who's to see them? Just pets or a hubby if you possess them! Where did you find the dog slippers LIN! Do they do them in cats! Haven't seen them in Canada! My new ones are just your run-of-the-mill suede/fleece moccasins, and I'm SO envious.
Anne - sitting here in her butterflies and drinking her morning coffee. I did my usual half hour morning walk INSIDE I hasten to add!
