Not the best start this morning because my neighbour came to ask if she could check my garden as their poorly cat had disappeared but after some searching he was found under their shed and had passed away. Yesterday I went with my neighbour to the vet just to give her some support and it was obvious he wasn't at all well but the vet suggested he be given a chance to recover but that wasn't to be. My neighbour then came with me to the moors for a walk and we saw 3 dead sheep within a short distance on the side of the road and can only imagine idiots had been racing late at night and because it was cool and the sheep tend to sit on the warm tarmac rather than damp grass they didn't stand a chance. To finish off my morning I've been trying to contact the local hospital to see if they will remove my dressing but have been cut off and then ignored so have decided I will drop in tomorrow and sit there until someone sees me!! This afternoon I will potter in my garden in the sunshine, not doing anything too strenuous but just chilling.

Happy Tuesday!!
Robby is here and he is just darn cute he makes me smile all day long. He keeps himself busy with all my toys and is really a good boy. Babe is still sick, his son is in the hospital with Pancreatitis but Babe said he will probably check himself out since he didn't get a private room. Typical Philip.
Anne, Italy is on my bucket list so I am sure I would love the perfume.
Phoebe, I have to admit I love being retired, although with getting up at 6 to watch Robby it is not as good as I am used too. I love watching him though, I feel so much more useful.
Lin, so sorry about your internet, like Phoebe, I would be angry.
Buzz, hope you get your computer problems worked out as well, are you that attached to IE?

Oh JACKIE, what an awful start to your day, and especially as you love all the creatures. I'm still missing Tabitha, who would have thought a once unwanted and difficult little cat would have turned out to be such a loving companion. The house is unnaturally quiet, she was a talker, and it's unbelievable how much less work I have to do. I would rather have the work and her back with me! However, all things pass in time, and I sincerely hope your day now progresses more happily.

Sorry I posted twice. I was not trying to be conceited.
Sometimes when I get on here I have such little time and forget
what and who I posted too. I am getting old.
Today I got a bike ride in before the temps got too hot. The humidity is high right now so I started out at 9AM. I still have to
do some things around the house and start packing for the week. I will be gone from Wednesday to Monday and will post on the Newsfeed. This will be our last sailing cruise for the season. Now we will do just day trips from our club.
I will try and keep up with your posts while I am gone if I can. After this trip I will be back to business on getting the scale
to go down. I have gained this summer with all the BBQ's and such.
JACKIE - Sorry about your troubles to get your dressing off. That is what we put with here too with our Socialized health care.

Today, my Dear Husband and I wet out at 9:00 to get our drivers licenses renewed. Finally got the job done and was home by 3:30!! no kidding. What a day. Made me really wish I was back home in the states and could take care of that in less than an hour!!! WE rode all over Cairo from one office to the next getting a stamp here, and a proof of no traffic violations there and who knows what else... It was CRAZY and all I can say is Thank goodness it lasts for 10 years. Cost was only about $9.00 though so I guess I can't complain about everything.0

I did see the doctor yesterday and o back in next Tues for 3 more test. So maybe he have some answer for m then
he will be given me a chemical stress test.. scan my stints to see if they are Ok and another test. I did get my old doctor back the one that did my stints 5 years ago. I sure hope he don't have to redo them. As far as my leaky legs he said he could send me to a skin doctor and he could drain all the water out of my legs But that it may show up again. They are not leaking now so think I will by passed that.
I do go see my primary Doctor afternoon and we are off to walmart in a few miuites

Well, a call came at 8:45 AM that maintenance was on the way up to move our refrigerator out in preparation for the floor covering crew expected at 9! Huh? The refrigerator's size caused all the dents in the first place and I said so to the 2 fellows who arrived. DON'T MOVE THAT BOX!!! One of them was unpleasant and asked me to show him the dents, which got me annoyed and it was downhill from there! I called the boss, he agreed there must be another answer, we figured it out and the refrigerator was simply raised (it is huge for the small galley space and the freezer drawer still doesn't open completely unless I open the opposing cabinet dooer!) Anyway, the new floor is almost finished, 4 hours later, and I love it, and the color is slightly brighter than my original and all will be well! The workers are as nice as can be, too.
Mike brought my attention to a Mayo Clinic article about water and heart attacks, and I'm so impressed I have made copies for everyone, including the fellow who exploded at me, since he is too young to have suffered a heart attack already! There is a correct time to drink:
...2 glasses after waking up to activate internal organs
...1 glass 30 minutes before each meal to help digestion
...1 glass before bathing to help lower blood pressure
...1 glass before bed to avoid stroke or heart attack! Also helps avoid nighttime leg cramps!
JACKIE, so sorry about all the unfortunate animals; sorrier you were involved in seeing them! Hope you get those dressings taken care of, and I don't think it's just the medical system, I think it's happening everywhere today with doctors lives changing in ways we never might have imagined! There are now "Elite" practices, where patients actually pay an extra yearly fee to be treated as was once customary by our "family" doctor (with interest, care and respect). Does that family doctor still exist? The specialists today are the only ones (including "internists) we ever see!. And I haven't a "private" office in years; they are all groups and I can never get one on the phone as I could years ago! And here in the USA, we don't have socialized medicine, and a number of practitioners are retiring rather than accept Medicare patients here in Florida! I think the Hippocratic Oath has taken on a touch of Hippocritic in too many of that old and well respected profession! Remember when your doctor mad home visits?
SANDY, Phil's pancreatitis is not surprising considering his abuse of his body! I hope Babe will be OK, but be careful of getting yourself involved again! I'm slowly weaning myself off Internet Express. It keeps freezing on me, or is my cursor not well?
PHOEBE, I think home sounds better and better as we get more mature! You've taken a lot of hard use and maybe it's time to rethink the future? I have a feeling you have a lot of unexplored talent! Along with a big heart!

ANNE, the Italian Rose perfume sounds heavenly. I also loved the lavender perfume although it is quite different than the English Lavender, which I adore! But I find not everyone appreciates it as much as I do, so I really cut back on wearing scents since moving here. I still have my House of Windsor Lavender perfume bottles sitting idly on my shelf until I go elsewhere for the day!
PHYLLIS, a trip to our MVB also takes 4 to 6 hours! I can't figure it out either!!! But it ends up costing us an arm and 1/2 a leg! Florida has no income tax, but other "fees" make up for it! I love that my picture on my 10 year license fools people about my real appearance!
LIN, maybe lack of internet access is a good reason that in my eyes, at least, you seem to accomplish so much!

Good day friends. Hope to post!! I'm on my other laptop now. I think my favorite is ready to bite the dust so I worked to try to get things updated on this one and got a number of my files moved to the hard drive of this laptop so we'll see how things go. It's eaten a lot of my day since the Internet connection kept going off and I had to restart the downloads.
Anyway, I vacuumed under my refrigerator today. Wow---lots of dust bunnies. Did a trip to the library, a Walmart run for some drain cleaner, and stopped to pick up a couple of lottery tickets (hoping for the type of good luck that Sandy gets at casinos and bingo!).
I have a gentleman coming out early this evening to give me a bid on radon mitigation. I got an estimate yesterday and I will just get the two bids and then select someone and get on the waiting list. In Iowa it seems to be about a 3 week wait and I would like this finished before the fall rainy season.
My garage cabinet as arrived at Home Depot and of course, ha, I'll have to take the wheelchair and walker out of my vehicle to go over and pick up the cabinet. They say they'll help me load it but I'll need help to get it unloaded. So I hope I can get the handyman to help before the weekend so I can load up the wheelchair and walker again to take them to church. I just knew this would happen!!
Trying to confirm the delivery of my sofa but I've called twice. Got voice mail once and no call back. The second time they disconnected on me. Isn't service just wonderful these days??

I went to the chiropractor to see about my hip that wasn't healing and he found something out of alignment and did his magic on it. It's still not well but I go back to see him again tomorrow for another adjustment. I have been taking it easy and Jake has been walking the dogs a lot. I've also been lying on the ice pack which the pets love because they come and get in bed with me. The last time my drivers' license had to be renewed, I got to do it by mail---just send in a check and get the new license back by mail....what a treat. Barbie 0 -

Happy Wednesday!! Wanted to sleep in today but couldn't, so I am tired. I see a nap in my future. I have this guy from Prudential Insurance coming at noon, why I don't know. I bought a life insurance policy when I married Babe so my kids would have enough to bury me and a little for themselves. (very little) I have managed this policy online for over 20 years and now all of a sudden they want to talk to me. A very annoying lady called me daily until finally one day I picked up the phone and she talked me into this appointment. He probably wants to sell me more insurance but that is not happening. It does work off the stock market so if he has a better way to do the investment part I will listen but no money is going to be given.
Tonight is bingo night so I am hoping for a big win.
Barbie, I am so sorry about your hip but if the chiropractor can't help, please see an ortho doctor so they can do an xray or MRI.
Lin, I do hope you had someone to help you take the cabinet out of your car and put it where it belongs. You are very generous in donating the wheel chair and walker to your Church. You are always kind and will be rewarded.

Buzz, I am trying to stay away from all the negativity in Babe's family, I just can't handle it anymore. Phil is home with the promise of getting two tests asap, we will see if he follows through. Does your mouse work with Chrome?
Am I correct in assuming that your fridge is now on some kind of block to keep it off the tile? What a nightmare.
Marie, I didn't know you had stents, when did you have those done? Leaky legs leaves quite an interesting visual in my mind, I picture your legs just leaking water like a broken balloon. What did your primary doctor have to say?
Phyllis, now that I am a senior it moves much quicker at the DMV. They have a special line for us and put us ahead of others who have been waiting for hours. Not fair to them but so nice for us. I have not had to have a driving test since I got my license at 18, but I think I will once I reach 75. Other than changing my address I am like Barbie and just renew through the mail.
Shirley, enjoy your last weekend on the boat, relax and just take it all in. I can hardly believe summer is almost done, where does the time go???

Hello sneakers. I've a feeling Autumn is just round the corner because the wind has spun to a northerly and there's a definite nip in the air. This morning's walk with George and my friend and her Scruff was enjoyable and we managed to stay dry in spite of some marbled clouds scudding across the sky. (There's a poem about them but I forget who wrote it!) No more death and destruction on the roads either thank goodness. After that I bit the bullet and headed for the local hospital's minor injuries unit and explained my situation and couldn't have been welcomed more warmly although it was obvious they weren't impressed with my lack of support from my GP practice. The nurse was horrified that she was the first professional medical person I'd seen since the operation so I think letters will fly but the important thing is the old dressing is off and I can rub in an unscented (or smelly as the nurse referred to it) moisturizer.
Buzz ~ Internet Explorer has stopped working for me too so I have to think they have problems. So far so good with Google!! I do so agree with your views on the medical profession these days... it seems to be all about budgets and numbers and as today's nurse said to me when I mentioned how emotional I'd felt when told I couldn't have an appointment this week, GP's seem to be more interested in saving money than recognising they are dealing with human beings and churning us through as if on a supermarket conveyor belt and I got the impression she would be asking why a replacement wasn't hired in if they are short staffed. In the UK all we ever hear is our government's mantra of "austerity, austerity" as we continue to suffer in order to bail out the banks so our NHS has to cope with financial cutbacks with no thought to the effects it's having on ordinary folk.
Barbie ~It's good to read you have found treatment that will help your poorly hip because I know how debilitating pain in that area can be. When I was discharged from the hospital last week I was given a pack of ibuprofen to deal with any swelling but they are so strong they knock me sideways if I'm not careful so I only took a couple but discovering they relieved long term hip and back aches I've now squirreled them away for emergencies! Hopefully your ice packs will work and meanwhile those beautiful dogs of yours can enjoy a snuggle up!
Lin ~ Yesterday I went on to our Euromillions website with a view to purchasing a lottery ticket and got sidetracked by their instant lottery games so because I had about £4 in my account had a go and for every £1 play won £1 back but never more so after 5 minutes decided I'm not a winner or loser and gave up.... didn't buy a ticket for a £10 million win either but probably saved myself some money there!! I've not got Sandy's luck that's for sure!!
Anne ~ Losing our pets is such a painful experience and I know you will still be missing Tabitha Daisy so much. They do seem to leave their spirit wandering in favourite places... when I came home from a late walk with George last night I was struck first by the absence of Rufus from next door who always hung around our communal gate greeting everyone but also I could have sworn I heard his little meow. Boris my black fluffy cat is very clingy at the moment, I think because they were best mates and could have been twins, in fact we used to say they must have been separated at birth! They are all special but Rufus was a joy and real character so we're all sad.
It's dry and quite sunny this afternoon but my energy levels are still rock bottom and after feeling the strain around the incision area when lifting up some cuttings in the garden yesterday have decided to sip tea and relax today. The local auction house has a sale next Monday so I'm now going to continue my search for a bookcase and look through their online catalogue. What am I going to do with my time after I finally find one I like??
Time to put the kettle on for another cuppa!

JACKIE, I loved your post and as always said beautifully everything I would like to say but haven't got your gift. The best thing you can do at the moment is listen to your body. You will know when it's time to get up and go. Don't get me started on my local GP who I sacked 5 years ago, I will never visit her again as I'm still recovering from the effects of pills I didn't want but which she insisted would prolong my life and in actual fact nearly finished me off. So very sorry about little Rufus and yes I am still in the throes of missing Tabitha Daisy. You mentioned lottery tickets and with me also not having SANDYS luck and:

I've been THINKING about lottery tickets, bingo, etc, games of hope and chance. I'm afraid I am a dreadful stick in the mud, and whilst I love playing cards with family and friends I know darn well my chances of hitting the commercial jackpot are virtually nil, plus I hate parting with my hard won pensions to some bingo hall or casino. It's a case of different strokes for different folks. I completely understand the excitement of "just maybe". Anyway, I have a family member in the UK who lives in eternal hope of striking it rich. Every week he spends the equivalent of $20+ on various tickets, whilst me over here, religiously transfers the same amount to my saving account. At the end of the year he is lucky if he even gets one or two numbers up weekly, never enough to win anyway, but he is quite convinced next week he will become a millionaire. He is now 84 so I suspect he will probably have a heart attack if he suddenly hits the jackpot thus defeating the purpose of winning! Meanwhile, old stick in the mud tortoise here has accumulated $1000 for her nearest and dearests Christmas gifts. Of course my method means I live a rather dull life, so I'm not sure WHICH is the correct attitude! The main thing is we should all do whatever we enjoy and are comfy with in the end. Dashing off full of hope or being, to quote from Scrooge, a grasping old sinner. Well not really, it IS spent on a "Christmas Carol" in my case. Lol.

Good day ---- we had quite the surprise this morning with thunder and strong rain! Then it stopped, the sun came out and we’re heating up again. I guess it’s to stay hot until next Monday. But the rain was a complete surprise to everyone I think. There was a 20% chance of rain in the forecast for today.
I was lucky to call the church secretary and she said she would be at the church this morning so I drove over to take my items there before picking up my cabinet. Unfortunately she was running late and didn’t get there but again, luckily the next door neighbor was home as they were having a couple of windows replaced and she has a key to the church and I was able to unload and move on. Yes!
I got my cabinet picked up, not a quick and easy process, and I had to help load it as they only had one tiny guy available to help. It was sort of in but the back hatch wouldn’t close so at that point, I said I’d handle it myself. He was pleased to leave and I folded the backseats a bit and was able to shift the cabinet in far enough to close the door. My handyman sent me a text saying he would unload it either Thursday or Friday. He didn’t mention if he’d have time to install it (put the legs on and install the shelf and level it if needed).
About 9pm last night, the furniture store called and I got my sofa final payment sorted out and this morning they called to confirm the delivery on Friday morning. Yippee!
I have two bids for the radon problem and they are within $25 of each other so I guess I’ll loss a coin or something.
Barbie, I hope the treatments will have your hip in fine shape again soon. I have found that I cannot push too hard on anything because I always get pain or an injury or something. I admire how you push on. My feet have been feeling a bit better lately and I have no idea why but I stopped wearing the shoes with the orthotics and have moved back to very light weight athletic shoes and now am able to walk without as much pain and fatigue. Our bodies are unique aren’t they?
Buzz, I’m not certain I understand what they did in your kitchen but I trust everything is the way you want it now. Often we have to try to work with very difficult people. Hugs to you and DH.
Sandy, oh my gosh, when people call repeatedly I always sense a sales call in there somewhere. Good for you on deciding upfront that you’re not buying anything else. I don’t know if I would ever have let them come over at all! My gambling episode consisted of one lottery ticket that I purchased and one I got free. So far one ticket was a washout and the other is for this evening. I assume it will also end up in the trash. Good luck with Bingo tonight!
Marie, I hope to hear from you soon. I’m sorry you need tests but hopefully they will determine if anything needs adjusting. A pet for the kitties if they zoom by you!
Phyllis and Sandy, we now have kiosks for renewing our driver’s license as long as you are under the age of 70. I don’t know if we still have a mail-in option. There’s a kiosk now at my library so that may turn out to be convenient in the future.
Jackie, I am so happy to hear that you were able to get the stitches removed. It seems no one I know gets the level of care that we had many years ago. Seems an epidemic of strain on healthcare systems is worldwide. I only have one friend who told me she feels she received very good treatment and attention and her treatment wasn’t local it was at a specialized cancer center in Texas. That’s well out of the ordinary. Take care, rest, and glad you’ve squirreled away your pills for extraordinary occasions. I know you’re not to do that but everyone does!

well I lost my favorite and so not know how to bring it back Sso I am having to take a different route to get here. but I am here and doing fine.
I roasted me some frozen Okra and cauliflower for lunch and had cottage cheese and a peach
for dessert and protein. I had a real bad case of gas so laying low on beans and coleslaw for a while.
Jerry took the kitties out side this morning but they were begging to come back in. Poor babies. He had them out about an hour. When they came in they ate and took a long nap. on Jerry lap

Sandy, I saw the chiropractor again this morning for another adjustment and I'll go back again on Friday. I've had this before about 15 years ago. Jake did all the dog walking except for the early morning one. I skipped my line dance class. You are so right to stay far away from Babe's family's negativity. The older I get the more I treat myself by staying away from negativity and I feel better because of that. Marie, take care of yourself...you are super special to all of us. Do you have to take your kitties outside? Couldn't they just be indoor cats like Bernie? Jackie, I am glad you got the medical attention you needed. It feels like autumn here, too....leaves falling, rain, wind, and cooler temperature. I am happy to be wearing my warmer clothes. I have used ibuprofen along with ice packs. Anne, I don't buy lottery tickets, play Bingo, or participate in raffles or any game of chance...I gave them all up when I realized that my imagination took off with what it would be like to win, so since I am an "abstainer" in many other areas of my life, I gave it all up....it works for me Lin, glad to hear about your sofa and cabinet....you'll love having your new stuff.
I have just narrowly missed setting a record for my lowest step count since I got my pedometer five years ago. Before MFP I used to spend so much time sitting at the computer or sitting and knitting and watching TV....now it feels very foreign to do that. I am being very good and taking it easy.
