    Happy Birthday Dave!

Sorry, yes I am home. She told me I looked worse than the first time she saw me but she finally gave me a ZPack and a prescription nasal spray. I do not have a sinus infection but she did hear the wheezing that I have been hearing. She told me to stop taking sudafed because my blood pressure was high. So I will just take the ZPack, the nasal spray once a day and if I want I can take Day and Night quill. I can also take the cough medicine with codeine if my cough gets bad, which is pretty good now. Hopefully, in the five days of the ZPack I will be better. I will still watch Robby but I did bring home a mask if Lisa wants me to wear one. I think it will scare him but we will see.

Thanks for your concern, love you girls!

Well I guess I will add my medical frustration to all the rest. Mine is with the drug store...a large box pharmacy. Every time I refill my prescriptions it is an exercise in extreme frustration. They haven't contacted the DR. Office or there are questions about insurance. Nothing has changed for years so this is quite annoying. The DR. Office says they have sent the fax. The pharmacy says they haven't received any fax. The DR. Office needs 72 hours lead time. The pharmacy has a policy of only 24 hours lead time. On and on it goes. At some point, I seriously wonder, can I just wing it and do without this drug? Okay! I know I should be very glad I have these benefits. I am really. But there are times...

After my weekly swim, an hour later than usual because local schools are holding galas, I've not managed to do much more than some paperwork and order a delivery of coal because our winter seems to be dragging on. My annual notification of my tax code from the government arrived in the post and seems to have got more complicated when we were told the system is being simplified but is all codes and notes.... I've read through it a couple of times and still don't know how much tax I'll be paying in the forthcoming tax year!! This afternoon I must pop to the bank to pay a small bill and then pick up a few small items of shopping. It's cold and bleak outside with drizzle and very low cloud so I've no intentions of gardening today.

Lin ~ That ditty about planting potatoes is new to me but that's probably because we have few Elm trees in the UK after a disease struck the majority down in the 1970's. Here's a short cutting from an article:

1975: Dutch elm disease 'such a tragedy'
It was a disease that changed the face of the English countryside.
Dutch elm disease is a fungal illness spread by a bark beetle and first made its appearance in the UK in the 1920s in a mild form.
A more virulent strain emerged in the late 1960s, brought to Britain with a shipment of logs from North America. By the mid 1970s millions of elm trees had died.
Now very few mature elms remain in Northern Europe.

I wouldn't recognise an Elm tree I'm afraid and I'm guessing that's how many of the old sayings die out over time. Perhaps I could try the theory with an Oak tree instead although yesterday I popped some seed potatoes into an empty egg carton to chit them just because we're into March and hope to grow them in a tub at home rather than the allotment so I can pull salad potatoes whenever I fancy. I'll let you know how I get on.

Sandy ~ I'm relieved to read you've seen a doctor and it seems you just have a rather nasty long running bug but must still take care of yourself. I expect Robby would have caught it from you by now if he was going to so don't go scaring him with a mask!!

Anne ~ Chatting to the chairperson of the allotment association yesterday we talked about the joys of having a garden and watching as well as listening to the birds and other creatures. When I walked George this morning I heard a squirrel shouting in the distance so I suppose they're getting ready to breed but being greys that are killing off our own red squirrels I'm not too keen on them!! We found a dead fox on the side of the road as we walked, no doubt hit by a car which although they've eaten my hens in the past, I'm always sorry to see.

Patsy ~ How frustrating to go through such a trauma to pick up your medication..... you could almost be living in the UK dealing with our pharmacy companies!! You're right though, it's important to be thankful for small mercies!!

My feet and legs are feeling cold as I sit here too long so change of plan; I'm going to make a large pot of leek and sweet potato soup and save the trip into town for the morning. Hopefully it won't be snowing!!

I've missed lots of you I know but if I try to get back to the previous page I'll lose this post.
    Hugs to you all.

    Jackie

Dave thanks you all for the Birthday wishes. :)

We went to the movies last night to see Eddie the Eagle. A snow jumper in the Calgary Olympics
in 88'. It was better than I thought and Hugh Jackman was in it too.

You all were talking about birds and squirrels. I saw two squirrels in my neighbors yard, one black and
one gray eating seeds on the ground next to each other. Yesterday I took down my bird feeder and checked it, it was broken for one and the seed was all moldy. No wonder there weren't any birds
there when I checked out the window. Smart birds don't touch moldy seeds. ;) So...up went a new
bird feeder and new seed, now I will see if they come back. My neighbor has all kinds under their
tree in the winter, and in summer they come to my feeders because it is open and the feeders are
    on the fence.

I went to the chiropractor and had her work on my left knee. I have been having trouble off and on
and after our bike ride in the Bahamas it really starting hurting. So she worked on the quad muscles
and side muscles and she said they are very tight which can cause knee problems. I will be back
    next week for another treatment.

Sandy - Glad you are on the mend now.
Marie - How is your back doing?

    Hi all.
Jackie, haven't a clue how your taxes work in the UK. I have only a little insight into the US!! I certainly don't know enough, we were stunned to owe about 3000 this year. We usually get refunds. Stay warm, the warmer it gets in Georgia, the more I dislike traveling to cold places. The cats love open windows on warm days(only).
Squirrels are here too,but not so close by with cats watching. I love to see the squirrels flying high, high thru the trees. You are absolutely right, no one likes old seeds, except maybe raccoons and possums. I'll empty the feeders in a few weeks and wash them, then refill them with season appropriate food. I left a hummingbird feeder up thru winter just in case. April will be time to put out fresh sugar water.
Sandy, I hope this does the trick for you. I've been giving Jim double doses of muc.DM. it is regular strength. That and a zyrtec tablet seem to be helping. He already takes Allegra and a small dose of mucinex without DM. I use generic Flonase nasal spray. Only as needed, which is now.
Shirley, tell me more about your chiro. I haven't been to mine since December. I didn't know they could help with knee problems. Kind of why I haven't been back, not really helpful. I also wanted to be able to tell if the back injection was the main reason for my improvement. It's hard to'dump' your chiro when you've known the whole family for a long time.
Glad you enjoyed the'man's choice' at the movies.
Patsy, it's a jungle out there! Prescription wise!
It used to be just get it filled at the hometown pharmacy, often Rexall, I think. Now it's preferred pharmacies, generics, brands, preferred or not and Mail Order! You know, the last place I had a transaction before my credit card number was stolen was the online mail order pharmacy.
Hi Marie, glad you're feeling better, but hope you will see your doctor with a list of past and present symptoms. They need to know.
Buzz, hope you can keep the swelling down but does it help with your pain? Here's to a quiet week for everyone. More laundry for me. Whee!!

    P. S. Chris, glad the massage helped but why were you sore? A quilt retreat sounds wonderful! Do they do that during winter months only?
Lin, are you working thru your tax paperwork? Good luck!

Happy Monday! :) We had a beautiful day today so Robby and I went to two parks and then spent a lot of time on my balcony. I still am not up to par but hoping the meds will kick in soon. I think I am going to try bingo tomorrow but I guess it depends how I feel tomorrow and if I am still blowing my nose every half hour but at least I am not coughing as much. Sorry if TMI.

Phoebe, I hope it works also, Flonase is what she prescribed for me as well but just once a day for ten days. I also take a zyrtec on my own which I hope will also help. This is just the longest type of cold that I have ever had, so it just seems like forever.

Marie, I did get a pretty good night's sleep, although my Fit bit says I was reckless for 45 minutes. Speaking of prescriptions I get mine at Walmart and since I don't have prescription insurance I have an Good RX prescription drug savings card that gives me great discounts at Walmart.

Shirley, I am glad that Dave had a great birthday with his bride. I really could use a good massage on my neck and back, my doctor told me I am very tight. Problem is time.

Jackie, I did not wear the mask because like you I figured it is too late, he was sick but got over his quick. I just hope he doesn't get it again but I really try hard to stay away from him and not kiss him all the time like I usually do.

Patsy, sorry you had such a bad time with your prescription and hope you finally got it resolved.

For those who know Connie, she has lost both of her Afghans within 60 days, the latest was yesterday from congestive heart failure.

    Have a great evening.

Good evening - no, I haven't been doing taxes today. I started this morning trying to order a couple of pair of socks, replacements for several pair that are wearing out and I spent a couple of hours trying to find a way to order them. I finally sent an email to the company telling them I want to order but haven't heard back from them. Then I contacted a friend who had sent along her contact information to me a while back and said, call me. Well, I did and we talked for a while and scheduled a get together and time to chat lunch for next week. I called and got a reservation for another get together with a small group a week from Saturday. Then I got a notion to make something my mom made every couple of weeks. That old Weight Watchers green bean chili. She just combined canned tomatoes and French cut green beans with a shake of chili powder and onion powder. I of course made it more difficult by chopping onion, celery and carrots and sauteing in the IP then added a couple of containers of tomatoes, a pound of French cut green beans and lots of spices. After lunch I went to the library for an afternoon of coloring then home to made supper. Dishes are done, I've sorted through the mail and plan to watch some TV and read a bit of "Murder in an Irish Village" by Carlene O'Connor. I brought home a raft of books and DVDs from the library so I'm well-stocked!

Sandy, I am sorry you are still not feeling well but I hope you do a bit better each day. Whatever this illness is, it is apparently rampant, I have 3 friends who are ill now and cannot get over it. Fever, upper respiratory problems, and a horrendous cough. It seems to just go on and on in adults while children improve much quicker. Odd.

Patsy, oh my yes, prescriptions. I have all of one Rx and I keep getting hammered by my carrier that I need to get it by mail order and I just ignore them as several of my friends have nothing but problems when getting stuck in that system. Never receive their prescriptions on time---they are always running out and have to call the doctor to call in an emergency Rx at a local pharmacy and then they have to pay for that and try to get a reimbursement from the insurance company. What a nightmare! I am so happy to have just the one Rx right now and knock on wood, haven't had any problems the past few months. It seems once I get past the annual renewal process it has been okay. But I will be switching to Medicare later this year and I am sure I will be in for a heck of a mess then.

Jackie, dear me, tax code always becomes more complex no matter how much politicians plead they are simplifying things. Yes, I remember the Dutch elm disease outbreak here. It was such a heart break to lose so many trees. Now there is a fight against the Emerald ash borer, with many people spending lots of $$ trying to save their trees. It is so sad. Sending along my best wishes on your potatoes in a tub experiment. I'll be looking forward to hearing the results.

Shirley, I am happy to hear you and Dave got to the movie he wanted to see. We only have squirrels that look kind of brown to me. They are great tight rope walkers. They walk around the top of my fence. I love to watch them. I hope the chiropractor gets your knee all mended.

Marie, how are you feeling now? Sorry about your prescription. Wow, 3 weeks? How do you go without it that long or did you have a lot left? Odd system we have right?

Phoebe, no refund for me either. I paid a lot of withholding from my pension and my IRA withdrawal but it won't cover what I owe from getting that rental income where there is no withholding. Oh and all my information is in the mail to my accountant and we'll try a phone appointment this year (later this month).

Connie, sorry for your losses. How incredibly sad. I have no words that are adequate.

Hello to Gayla, Chris, Jeri, Diane, Marcella and the rest of the dear Sneakers.

Our parking areas are being refinished so I had to park at a good distance near a different building and figure out how to crawl home! Mike finally met me at a far entrance with my electric wheelchair and I decided I just won't drive anywhere for the next 8 days while they repave! I really find the weather affects me when the pressure drops!
SANDY, sounds like things are under control, thank goodness! Thanks for the info! Feel better!
PATSY, did you just steal my thunder? Your post regarding mail order RX/Drs/faxes/nothing happening is the story of my life since signing up for mail order! Either they never get my Rxs, or I just saw where they are filling 2 Rx s for the same medication! I'd say forget it but I cannot exist without it and locally, there is a copay which is not on the mail order! Yes, there should be limits!
JACKIE, I haven't seen coal since I was a little kid! And sorry about your tax screw up. But I find that the norm! And we had leek and potato soup over the weekend. Yummy!
PHOEBE, we used to use old records (do they still exist?) to keep squirrels off our bird feeders. It was so entertaining to watch them try to get around those tilting baffles! My swollen legs? I don't know what the answer is yet. I hate to go through wrappings again. Monday is my vein appointment for the ultrasound. Maybe there's an answer? Sorry about your tax zooming. Might there be an error?
CONNIE, if you read this, Sandy just broke the awful news about your sweet Afghans. I'm so sorry for your heartbreak!
LIN, sorry about your tax bit too! Our returns are still arriving daily!
Feeling pretty sleepy so I'll make it up another time if I've missed you tonight!
Oh, our fantastic pianist tonight included Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue following a Rachmaninoff Concerto, and I was in seventh heaven!

Wild, wild weather this morning with high winds blowing around anything that's not nailed or screwed down outside! The dog walk around the village was interesting as we dodged flying tree branches and I did my best not to get blown over but in the end cut the exercise short before one of us got hurt! Now poor George is grumbling and growling at the noise outside doing his best to tell me we are being invaded or attacked!!

Phoebe ~ I've not got a clue how our tax system works either but know I don't trust them to get it right! Last year I had a letter from the tax office explaining that I had underpaid by a small amount which they would take off this year's allowance and I'm convinced it will have cost them more to make the arrangement than let it go so when I hear that large corporations do their best to avoid paying due taxes by setting up bogus offices in tax havens I get a little peeved about my tiny amount!! $3000 is a huge amount so I'd double check they have their sums right if I was you.

Sandy ~ Your post sounds brighter so I can tell you are feeling a bit better. Fresh air and a bit of sunshine has to be the best cure along with a few kisses for Robby because I bet he'll miss them if you stop!!

Lin ~ We also have something called Ash die-back that was imported in timber from Scandinavia so it seems lessons are never learned! At the weekend I popped into our local Aldi store where I found packs of 5 pairs of socks for a reasonable price and picked out a large polka dot pattern. When I got them home and took a closer look I noticed they are marked from Monday to Friday along the bottom so am thinking I'll have to go barefooted Saturday and Sunday... that or dig out a couple of old pairs!! LOL

Connie ~ So sorry to learn of your double bereavement which must be unbearably sad for you. You're in my thoughts.

The noise of the wind is getting louder but George has finally settled so I'm going to get on with a few chores and do my best to ignore it. When I came back from our walk I noticed one of my neighbour's trees leaning rather precariously towards the overhead power lines and am just hoping it doesn't fall down. He's not renowned for property maintenance at the best of times so I'm betting he's not even aware of the looming power cuts!!

    Have a good day everyone.

Wow, it's been a few days since I've been able to check in and I feel like I've missed so much. Last week, I decided the home office needed some serious cleaning/rearranging. So I pulled everything out of the room and rearranged ALL of the office furniture! Nothing went back into the office that was not suppose to be there. One of my sons helped me move one piece of furniture that was too cumbersome for me alone. My brain works so much better in there now! It's been a busy time and I have missed checking in here each day.

On the weight loss front, I have gained 4 pounds during the last 2 weeks while life has been a bit out of order. As I reviewed my progress from this time last year, I noticed a similar pattern. So, I'm trying to get it back under control more quickly this Spring. Must be the change in weather or something like that. But, as the weather is so much nicer, I think I need to quickly set a new routine that will keep me on the healthy path to my goals.

Wishing everyone a super blessed day,
    Marcella

Marcella, good for you for having help with your big project, rather than being extremely sore today!
Yes, our weather has improved, but we are being pollinated along with the greenery. Jim first, now me, with the return of the cough, nausea, etc. I've had my soup for lunch, took my meds, and will take the time for the meds to work. Then I'll make the batch of peanut butter cookies I promised Jim.
Buzz, that's a good idea, just stay at home unless you must go out. I'm glad Mike was able to get your chair.
Wow, Jackie, that wind could be dangerous! Tree limbs, whether flying in the air or snapping from the trees can kill. Poor George, does he imagine goblins in the wind?
Marie, what are you doing today? Naps in springtime feel great don't they? I'm going to force myself to get the mail today. I put off leaving home until I must!
Lin, you got a lot accomplished in one day! I think our library has limits, does yours? Only three at one time for digital audio books. With that and one Audible book per month, I have enough. I'll check out the Irish Village title.
A short lie down while waiting for my meds to settle.

Sounds like a quiet day for our gang, and I'm slowly getting back to business. Finally getting tax paperwork together and pulling from one brokerage to another ain't easy! However, I love my broker and will follow her anywhere she's happy, as she keeps me afloat above all odds!
Nice to read JACKIE (ouch to your weather!) MARCELLA (cleaning up? what's that?), and PHOEBE-oh dear, sorry you are feeling so awful! Now my dinner hour approaches and I've done none of the good things I'd planned, like my leg compression pumps, so I hope I'll get back early and take care of it! Where's everybody else?

Good afternoon. A colder day today with a bit of rain overnight. The sun is out, the sun is gone, it's been like that all day. I went to the store today and purchased a number of vegetables to roast. Instead of putting them on parchment paper I used one of those clay cooker that you soak before you put it filled into a cold oven and let the temperature increase slowly. Took a while but the vegetables were delicious, not blackened at all and the flavors blended nicely. I have lots of stuff to do tomorrow so I also cooked some carrots and some cauliflower.

Buzz, so glad you got home okay and I am sorry you had to park so far away. Seems you should have a service to park your car for you in those situations. I hope you can stay home until the repaving is complete. Oh my, I am so glad you love your broker but tracking investment paperwork in general is tough enough but changing from place to place---oh my. Take care of yourself please. (And thank you.)

Jackie, wild weather is not my favorite. Makes me nervous as can be. You are adventuresome to still go out for a dog walk around the village. Oh, and love the story about the socks. Yes indeed, barefoot weekends. Well, that would be a fashion statement too! I did more hunting today and found a company that is selling (or says at least) that they sell the socks I want. I did not hear from the company directly so I wonder if they are still in business? I originally got these socks to wear on Sundays, you know, like dress socks? But my feet love them so much that I find I like to wear them daily and they are wearing out. ANYWAY, the web site said to call them first to see what colors they had available but I didn't. I placed an order with a note of the colors I would like and we'll see what they say. I hope to get something.

Marcella, wow---a total clear out and rearrangement of your office. How wonderful! You accomplished so much. It must feel marvelous to be in your new space.

Phoebe, the library has limits on the # of DVDs you can check out and a limit on the number of items you can put on your "hold" list but I don't know about anything else. I only checkout physical books and I've not been denied even with a fairly tall stack and I've seen folks with even more books. I don't know if I recommend "Murder in an Irish Village"--it is okay but nothing I'd go out of my way to find. It was on a list of new mysteries so I put in my request to check it out. I did pick up a book that I am ready to start reading---"Time of Fog and Fire" by Rhys Bowen. I enjoy the Molly Murphy mysteries. I hope you and Jim get through the spring pollen season okay. Lucky Jim, finally getting the peanut butter cookies. Peanut butter is one of my many OMG-I-am-going-to-eat-it-all-right-now foods. I have so many of those!! I struggle to not purchase it. I have such an addict brain.

I have a stack of DVDs from the library including Season 6 of Downton and I think I want to watch the last episode again.

Tomorrow I am going to the library of our neighboring suburb I didn't get to last week due to the weather. I'll get my library card there and check out whatever activity they have going on (the schedule indicates some type of craft). I've signed up for a webinar early in the afternoon and then will be meeting the PlantPure pod organizer (or at least trying again). I have corresponded with her and she proposed same deal---Thursday night, same location as before. This time I will be there early!

    Hugs.

Happy Wednesday!! :) I am going to go to bingo and hope I don't annoy my friends with my nose blowing. It seems better today, I have taken Phoebe's advice and I am drinking orange juice for the vitamin C. I just started today but it does feel like it is helping. We had some rain today so we couldn't go outside, hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Have to change and get moving, have a great evening.

Sandy - So happy you are feeling better, now its time to build yourself up and your immunity. Such
nasty viruses going around this winter. Have fun at bingo.

Lin - I hope you get the socks you want, so frustrating ordering on line sometimes. I had to go to
Amazon after an on line website wouldn't let me finish the ordering process. I ordered a sailing book
for Dave for his birthday and had trouble with the link.

Marcella - I love organizing and changing things around. I wish I was there to help you but your son
was there to help and now you can enjoy your new space.

Buzz - I am sorry to hear you had to go so far to get back to your complex. Not a good situation
for the occupants there, just stay inside until they are done.

Phoebe - My chiropractor puts on the electrodes around my knee and she does a lot of deep
tissue massaging. So I was told to put heat on my quad and side of the knee because of
    tightness.

Sorry to hear about Connie's dogs passing. One is bad enough to deal with but two is heart breaking.

Marie - Good to hear your back is doing better. Are you getting hit with all that rain that the TV
is talking about. Texas, Louisiana and so on.

Today Dave and our friend Tom left this afternoon for our cottage and ice fishing. It's much colder up
there and they have lots of snow yet. He said it will get up to 45F Friday and Saturday and now its
28F. What a difference from our day today which was in the 60's. A beautiful Spring feeling day.

I am here until Friday, Isaac is still getting over his virus but he did have breakfast today so his
throat must be getting better. Poor little guy, you don't like to see the little ones sick when they
can't tell you what is the matter. So I was supposed to leave with them today but Kathy thought
it better to come on Friday, unfortunately I will be driving by myself but either I go or I stay home so I
    will go.

    Have a good evening.

my day was pretty ruff today. our TV went out yesterday in the bad storm we had And I was on the internet for 3 hours trying to get her to walk me Thu the reset process. Did not make it. Alice came out and to help and they were not very nice to each other So alice cancil our TV hook up with them She got our TV hook up to rabbit ears and work will nice no more hight price TV bills. Of course we don;t get many stations But I am not a big tv fan anyway. except my Cowboys and we can get them on the rabbit ears. gosh a saving of 100,oo a month. and no more losing of chanels. This is the second time this has happen this spring. We do get all the locals tv stations. So Jerry is happy with that.I got to go put my soup up see you all tomorrow.

That's too bad Marie. TV reception is supposed to be better now. So I hope you'll get some good stuff. We've been watching the news about the storms. I can't believe all that flooding. We probably won't leave home until Saturday, I hope we'll miss all the detours. Hugs, see you tomorrow!
