    Good afternoon Sneakers...

Good to hear from you Marie and glad that you are getting all of the outside help that you need. I too think Meals on Wheels would be a great idea for you; its worth a phone call anyway. Glad you have lost 5 lbs and are elevating your legs. It seems to be a slow process, but take it a day at a time. Concerned about you.

Buzz...very glad that you have also been able to get down 7 lbs. You have got to be feeling a bit better especially since you can use your compression socks now. We know Mike is a constant worry right now, but try to get some rest when you can. My thoughts are with both of you.

Marcela....So you are off to the RV for a short break away. Hope the weather cooperates with you so that you both can really have a relaxing trip. Its the packing and unpacking, but once there you will have some good times. We are off with our RV to Reno soon for about 3 nights. Haven't been there for probably 5 yrs, so it will be nice to get up into the mtns. They say in the 70s....look forward to that and it is a nice change from our 90s.

Phoebe.... Riding in the truck with a sore bum is not my idea of much fun and I feel for you. Hopefully you will only have a short trip out this time. You mentioned some family member doing campground hosting in Felton, Ca. Love Felton....it is so pretty there. Remember staying in a cabin there as a child with a friend...redwoods, ferns and trails to hike on. The perfect vacation place. Heal quickly !!

Shirley....Back home again and getting into a routine. You are so consistent with that and I admire you pushing forward with yoga no matter where you are at the time. Riding in a boat with rough seas....NOT my idea of fun, but then I get seasick/carsick. Diet time again until you are off for your next adventure.

Sandy....lucky you. You seem to be on a roll getting something back. Shall try my luck next week up in the Reno area. Definitely am hoping my luck will change when I am up there. Hope to see an old friend while there too so it should be a fun trip.

Jackie....Busy in your household with 3 kitties and 2 dogs. I remember when we had a kitty that got neutered and he had been a inside/outside cat. He about drove us crazy until we finally opened the door for him. He was one to spend more time outside than inside. Miss him now.... As for your bees my friends son is selling hives that have the sprout on the front now making it easier to retrieve the honey. Not knowing much about it they look pretty phenomenal to me. If interested let me know.

Anne.....Little dogs and big dogs don't mix in my experiences. Jacque, my toy poodle, thinks everyone is his friend. Currently I am crossing the street trying to avoid a huge german shepard that his master is holding on to tight. Not good feelings about that one. Avoidance with the rott seems like a great idea to me.

Lin....thinking of you also. Haven't seen any puzzles like the ones you are working on. Shall have to check Amazon for them. Have a couple of challenging Thomas Kinkade ones waiting for me to tackle. My winter entertainment...

As for news around here....Our garage freezer/refrigerator died and it was only 5 yrs old. That was not to our liking. Our last freezer ran for 32 + yrs never with a problem and when we gave it away it was still running.

And Patsy, so you are into replacing draperies. I don't envy you on that one. Right now I have samples and more samples of laminate, engineered hardwood, premium floor tiles and vinyl flooring all around our house trying to come to a conclusion on what we are going to do with ALL of the flooring issues in this house. The original is still here and it was put in in 1998. I have never been so confused; we have been at it for about 6 wks now taking a couple of breaks to unscramble the brains LOL Think I have the hardwood decision made, but now am working on the bathrooms, laundry and kitchen choices. Finally it will be the carpeting for the bedrooms. I am only doing this once.....hopefully. Not my idea of fun. I prefer all of those decisions having been done for me before I move. We will be living in sections of the house here and there for about a wk when the installation happens. Glad when it is done.

Well time to get thinking about what for dinner. Thinking of all of you ....Jeri too and hopefully I didn't miss any one else. Until next time...

And here we are the Bean and I. We met no dogs on our walk this morning which was sad for the Bean because like your little Jacque she too loves all she meets. Its a funny thing but have you noticed an awful lot of young women are hanging on for dear lives on leashes attached to German shepherds? Why? For protection? It seems they can't properly control such strong dogs. Anyway, Jilly and I are keeping well clear of the Rottweiler and avoiding any chance meets.
Mike is coming over to help me set up my 20 year old, perfectly good Dell computer in the more winter friendly living room. I can't get the Internet on it, but it's very good for rapid typing and printing, and maybe I'll get to making my own greeting cards again. He will be far too busy to play with pint size, but she's such an inquisitive little dog she'll be happy anyway.
He'll be here soon, so enjoy your day and may it be pain free.
    Anne.

    Morning,

An early start for me, my chiropratic apt. this morning with a follow up visit and she peaked at my bruise too. My lower back is getting better but just above that was hitching this morning so good day to get an adjustment.

We are going to the boat to get the head (toilet) pumped out so Dave will need some help with that.
I still have to get my exercise in today as yet. Other than that, a slow day for me. Nice!

Happy Friday! :) I had such a good time with Robby and Lisa yesterday. While she got her touch up Robby and I went on balcony to blow bubbles. Unfortunately, he thought it was fun to drop the bubble blower off the balcony so we had to go downstairs two times to retrieve it.
I made some chicken breasts on the grill along with asparagus and a salad. It turned out great and Lisa really did appreciate my efforts. Robby had little hot dogs wrapped in a bun along with some corn. It was a nice day except for when my sound system went out and today I have to attempt to fix it. I am going to take my cable box to Comcast and replace it with a new one to see if that helps so wish me luck.

Shirley, hope the chiropractor fixes your back and you can be pain free. The "head" job doesn't sound like fun but you are a good wife to help Dave.

Anne, I never thought about using a computer for just typing and printing but what a good idea if it still works. Rapid typing? Made me laugh, reminded me of the time I took a typing test for a job interview and failed. Got the job however since the boss and I started dating after he hired me. lol Will add it didn't last long since Babe came back into my life after a breakup and we got back together. Hmm, I wonder what would have happened if Babe never called. Truthfully, I think all things happen for a reason.

Diane, great to hear from you as usual. Good luck at the casino, I am going with friends in October for two days and can hardly wait. Redecorating is a terrible job but once it is done it will be all worth the trouble.

Phoebe, bet your bottom dollar things will get better tomorrow. Are you singing it now?

Jackie, you are indeed a good friend to take Scruff, but I bet George is a little jealous. It is so hard to be around people who are downers, I really try to stay away from them because life is too short to not love every minute of it. Lisa is rescheduling the family pictures, so my handsome son's face will be seen.

Buzz, I hope Dell was able to fix your computer. When my sons works on my remotely from Portland it always amazes me but so glad he is in the business, saves me money. Glad you were able to get your compression stockings on and feel better.

Marie, I am really sorry you have to go through all of this but patience is a virtue so try to hang in there. At least you are getting the attention needed to help you heal and having Alice and Kathy visit must be nice. Just know we all think of you and love you.

Lin, are you busy this morning? Hope all is well.

Have a wonderful day, weather here is going to get cooler so summer is coming to an end.

Marie, I am glad you check in with us when ever you can. It has been quite a while since you went to the hospital but you are more on track now and are getting some help. I hope someone can figure out some type of meal delivery for you. Any service that would come and cook for you? Then there would be enough for a few days.

Shirley, you are such a trooper. No matter what is going on you always pitch in and help with the projects. I hope the chiropractor continues to help you.

Phoebe, safe (and comfortable) travels. I still do not understand how Quell works. Do you wear it for a certain number of hours a day?? How do you know how to best utilize it?

Diane, glad to hear that you have a bit of traveling coming up. As far as all that flooring replacement. OMG!!! What a project. It is difficult to make choices you have to live with for a long time!

Anne, glad you have your 'typewriter' on the move. Excellent idea. Now you can write up all sorts of things and share them with us once you get them transferred onto a device with Internet access.

Sandy, I love that picture. Robby is just sprouting up into a darling little boy.

Buzz, I too hope your computer is mended and that you are feeling okay. So good that you were able to out on your compression socks.

Jackie, I hope your appointment went well. Hugs.

    More later.

    Hugs.

This is where I was this morning. It is the Jordan House and was part of not only the early history of this area but a part of the underground railroad with John Brown bringing slaves to stay in the house on many trips.

Very interesting tour. Loved everything! Too many pictures to post but included just a few including a view of an old grand made them in that shape so that the legs could be detached and the main portion of the piano could be transported in a wagon.

Sorry to tell you the results from Mike's X-Ray came back with pneumonia and he is on an IV 4 times a day for 10 days! It's not infectious but I don't quite understand the whole thing although I'm not surprised because of his gasping every few steps he takes! How could it not have been detected sooner, like when he went on oxygen because of the same symptoms? Well, we shall see what happens with the new doctor, who was the one who investigated a couple of days ago. His comment was Mike's condition is very compromised (whatever that means) and he is concerned Humana will not allow a primary care doctor more than one visit a month! Looks like another fight ahead! Sorry I cannot concentrate to add comments, as I enjoyed reading all about you all. I was relieved that the rifle in LIN's Jordan House was not a photo of her own home! Too sleepy, but love you all!

What happened to my post? I saw it posted but now it's gone and I'm too tired to redo. quick reprise, Mike's X-Ray (I even had to add an X after it posted!) showed he has severe pneumonia, and will be on an IV 4 times a day for 10 days! Ouch. How come they never checked for that before since his symptoms have been here for a long time! I'm going to bed!

Up to my eyes in STUFF! I too am firing up my old apple computer. It is so old...I think it uses something almost as old as the floppy disks from the dark ages. I have just lost a lot of work that I had been doing for at least 3 days! I can't tell you upset I am. But what I did once, I can do again...but it will not be exactly the same.

I have been thinking of the 9-11 attacks fifteen years ago. I do remember what I was doing and how I felt. I also knew things would never be the same and they haven't.

Buzz: can you take Mike to the ER if he needs emergency care? This just seems unreasonable that he can't get the care he needs. What is wrong with people? If it were me, I would be screaming for help from our son. Actually make that DEMAND help from our son. I am not as independent as I would like to be. When I get into a fix, I do scream pretty loud.

Lin: that is just the kind of house I would like to live in. That is just the kind of house John grew up in. He couldn't wait to move into more modern quarters. Antiques aren't his favorite things but I love them. He says the plumbing never works and there are always drafts. The floors creak and something is always broken or will not work and replacements are not available. So I guess we can say that they are great places to visit but..."you wouldn't want to live there."

Sandy: beautiful little boy! I hope you have a nice large copy for your own home. It is such a wonderful memory piece. This is the baby you helped to raise.

Anne: I'll bet your son cannot resist spending a few minutes with Jilly. Enjoy your computer. I have my old apple fired up and going strong. These old work horses are great.

I sorta grew up in a house like that. Well we all did back in the dark ages. Loved the photos, wish I lived there. However, I have a theory. The Romans ran around conquering the known world, then they installed plumbing and Roman bath houses. Goodbye Roman Empire as they all splashed in their hot tubs ignoring the barbarians wanting the same.
The British ran around creating an empire. Was it more comfortable in warmer climes, than say living in a mining village, sitting in a lukewarm tin tub in front of an inadequate spitting fire, shivering in the draughts and scrubbing the coal dust off with carbolic soap? Of course! In came social reform, better housing, central heating, so why go abroad to warm up and keep an eye on things any more, goodbye British empire.
    Just saying!
The above doesn't mean I am about to give up my steaming water, or Crabtree and Evelyn soap and body lotion in the next few years. Does this mean the end of Canada as we know it! By the way, Is that how head veils evolved in hot countries with little water and bad hair days in actual fact rather than religious rule. Oh dear I ponder too much, back to peeling the spuds for lunch the old fashioned way!
Yours, still in the dark ages, Anne.

Happy Rainy Saturday! :D Bad day for our block party, looks like it might be moved to our clubhouse. I wish they would cancel it until tomorrow when the sun will be out. Babe brought me supplies and my checks and said he is going to the ear doctor on Monday. I do hope they can find something so they can help him with this dizziness, it has been too long.

Buzz, I am so sorry about Mike, but I do seem to be losing my faith in doctors. It takes so long to find the problem and then they can't seem to find the cure. These are trying days for you with Mike and I do hope you have the support of his family and help if needed.

Lin, I love touring old mansions and although they are interesting I couldn't live in one. I love comfort and the furniture from those days is just not comfortable. I love Downton Abby but it is all so prim and proper. lol

Anne, you make yourself sound like you lived in the dark ages.

Phoebe, enjoy the old West and be careful!!

Patsy, I am with John, give me modern and comfortable. I don't think any of sneakers will ever forget 9/11. I remember exactly what I was doing and was glued to the TV. I just read that they are putting 9/11 in history books now since the kids of today no nothing of what happened.

I did sort out my puzzle, now it is a matter of putting it together.
    Have a good day.

Back home from our camping outing. It was nice to visit with friends and I’m happy to say that I managed to order grilled/baked meats and green veggies and salads while eating out. I also managed to refrain from mindless munching and snitching bites of favorite fried stuff from my husband’s plate. He offered to order differently, but I told him that I needed to learn to be strong. I’ve decided to work hard to hit my goal weight by December 31st. That simply means that I must stick to the really good food and watch my choices until then.

    Phoebe - Safe travels.

Buzz - Hopefully, when you speak with someone at Humana, they will confirm that your husband can get the care that he needs for this and his other health problems. I told my husband a couple of days ago, that I though our best hope for aging was to eat and live as super healthy as possible and pray for the best because it probably wasn’t going to be in our favor to have to depend on the health system. Sad. Wishing you and Mike the best.

Patsy - Having to rework several days worth of work is frustrating. You have an amazing attitude about it. Hang in there.

Lin - Our son was asked to store a friend’s family heirloom piano when the friend’s parents moved out of town. It is in our basement in Jordan’s recording studio area. It is a 1908, Steinway, Series “O” Grand Piano. After a visit to a museum in Florida where I saw something similar, it was fun to come home and realize that I can sit down and play this with no “roped-off” areas.

Sandy - You and your grandson are both quite photogenic!

Anne - You and Jilly enjoy your walks and hopefully you won’t have to kick any big dogs buts.

Shirley - Hope your chiropractic appoint went well. Have fun with that toilet pumping thing!
    Wishing everyone a happy weekend!

Me again. Hey Canadian girls, did you hear the program on the radio about some of our American neighbours entering Canada with fake passports at $10,000 each through tunnels along the Montano border, and thus avoiding what they think will be an exodus with long hold ups the legal way after the US election? Was I hearing things? Was it a spoof? Didn't seem to be with a policewoman's (?) comments. Boy! Interviews as well with "dentists", "teachers" etc who remarked life was pretty much the same except for hockey obsession and double double order coffees to get used to.
SANDY Looking back it does seem like the dark ages growing up. I was bathed in front of the fire in a tin tub. We did have an upstairs bathroom, but with the Battle of Britain going on overhead and shrapnel flying around my mother thought 3 year old Anne was safer in the tin tub downstairs because of sirens going off and a quick dash to the Anderson shelter in the garden. However, my aunt in the next street didn't have a bathroom so we had a steady procession of teenage cousins coming over and using our bathroom. I'd forgotten all that! Thanks for the memory jog.

The only bathroom that wasn't modern was our outhouse up at the cottage and now it is dismantled for good and indoor plumping is now the way. :) I like the modern furniture too but I do have a few antiques in my house from my mother in law. :)

I am feeling much better today after my treatment and will do another one on Tuesday. My bruise is
turning yellow now so I am on the mend. I took a walk down by the water today and saw at least
6 flocks of Canadian geese and alot of poop on the walkway. At least a nice change from the neighborhood walking.

My nephew dapples in antiques and buys and sells them on line and his house is full of them he is a retired firemen now.

Buzz- It seems one thing after another with the health care system. I hope you can get Mike on track again and hope he feels better soon. <3

Sandy - Beautiful picture of you and Robby. :)

Patsy - Nothing worse than losing computer information you need. I hope you can do a do over.

Anne - I have not heard about the tunnels but wouldn't be surprised. Now a days nothing surprises me lately. I have recorded the Trump and Clinton talk and still have to see it speaking of tunnels and walls. :#

Marcella - You are strong when it comes to eating out, so many temptations. I am starting Monday with 1200 calorie meals and getting on track. I have a lot to lose and have to get back to eating less. I got the meals from Pinterst and they are all planned out for you I just have to follow it. All the groceries are bought today.

    Enjoy your day!

What a great day for listening to all of you with your theories, memories and life stories! I didn't mean to repeat yesterday's post but the 1st one actually disappeared last night! So today there are two! Sorry. Never rains but it pours. Received my monthly maintenance bill yesterday but waited to open it til I could sit down, and sure enough, I'm being charged for using their oxygen tanks daily when we have our own, charged for insulin which I supply, charged 3.72 for 1 Vitamin D3 capsule which costs me $0.03 a piece retail! And of course now will be charged for his 10 days of IV drip because the nurse didn't go through my insurance company! Much as I love it here, I will not allow them to take advantage. And of course, the bill always comes on Friday afternoon when the staff has gone for the weekend!
Anne, does one need a ticket or proof of anything to get in line for the tunnels? Have we become divided here in these gorgeous states or what! I'm too old for this nonsense, because it really is nonsense. Although I must say I was happy to hear our president did not sneak in from some far off nation to take over the USA! And as a nation, why did we go along with that nonsense? We needed to attend to fixing our systems in every area instead of having leaders too stubborn to even vote in Congress! OK, got THAT off my ample chest. Just make sure you US citizens get out and vote for your beliefs (not for your fears!!!)

BUZZ, I don't know! I was pretty shocked to hear of folks leaving illegally or otherwise! All the Americans I have met both here, in the states and in the UK are lovely, generous, warm people, well we only have to look at our little group here to know that. So why leave? I hesitated writing because hopefully it is a set up about tunnels and illegal entries, and indeed I hoped someone would confirm that. It would be Canada's gain mind you if there is some truth in the radio program. Canada gained from the Vietnam war that's for sure in people not approving war or draft.
You are right, it is all nonsense. The world's going mad. I wonder what would happen if EVERYONE refused to vote. Or the turnout was so poor the process would have to be started all over again? I've followed this coming election just like Shirley who has dual citizenship I believe. At the end of the day, if I was an American citizen I wouldn't have a clue who to vote for! Maybe it might help if anybody over the age of 65 couldn't apply for such an important job! After all, the rest of us had to retire, why not the Donald's etc of the world.
    Anne, the clueless.

Good evening - I have several missing packages again today. Fie on the postal system. Okay, I will stop growling. I did some laundry, a bit of cooking, and a long session of bringing boxes out of the basement and breaking them down for the recycling bin. I ran out of space before I ran out of boxes. I sent along a card today to a girl who asked for nothing but birthday cards this year. She's a local girl with cancer. Unfortunately I didn't hear about it until yesterday. I drove down to the post office to mail it but it will be late. I would guess she will receive many cards late as it was just in the newspaper.

Buzz, straightening out medical billing issues seems like a full time job sometimes. I am so sorry. A friend of mine has been trying to sort out her medical insurance and that of her husband for almost two months now. Things are just so screwed up!!

Anne, I Had not heard that story but who knows!!

Sandy, Marcella, Phoebe, Diane, I am too tired to make much sense so I will stop now but am thinking of you all.

Barbie, you posted that you would be undergoing surgery to cure your leg pain. I have you in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Church tomorrow so I had best get things ready for morning. Time just runs away from me.

    Hugs.

A recent coloring bit. Luckily I still do not care if I stay in the lines. :D
