A Harvest moon has just appeared above the horizon that's apparently a rare one although it looks typical to me! The automatic door on the hen house is playing up again so I had to close it manually just as it got dark. It's turned into a chilly night so when I came back into tbe cottage I threw a blanket over my knees and Betty immediately jumped on my lap so we're nice and cosy as I watch a gardening programme.

A quiet Sneakers day so far with Sandy travelling home and Lin off for some Reflexology. Then I expect Patsy's day has barely got started! Buzz, I hope you got a good night's rest.

Anne, I'm not sure things have got worse when it comes to violence against women. It's always existed, just didn't get particularly talked about. So many accepted it as the norm. Unfortunately nothing much has changed except we hear more about it.

On that cheery note I'll eat my pot of yogurt, avoid any news as I continue to live in my bubble and take another look at the Harvest moon lighting up my garden.

Good afternoon. After reflexology I ended up spending the afternoon with a friend. Just got home. It stayed quite cool today and windy. Oh yes, fall is on the way.

Not much to say, just enjoyed the day.

PATSY, if I write a long post I "post reply" half way through. Then I tap Done and come out of MFP. Then I come back in via the right hand black EDIT button. I'll do it now.
There, it sure saves a lot of frustration if one manages to save at least half.

Apparently JACKIE the safest place in Europe to be female in a BBC chart on domestic violence is........Greece ! The least safe, Rumania and Ireland equally followed by Finland. England is fourth from the bottom.

Must watch for the harvest moon tonight. It says on our weather it's special because the next on this date won't occur until 2175 !!!!!

Legs jumping; can't sit! Otherwise everything is OK or normal, whatever that is.
PATSY sounds as if she and I are having similar MFP problems. I usually think it' something I 've done ......like fall asleep before posting???
My new Keurig arrived today and I love it! Cardinal red, a strong button and it makes really hot coffee! And stores pods or has a container for me to make my own from what I still have. And is about 4.5" wide! I'll go have some coffee and try to ignore TV!

Hello yet again. I am too tired to begin another task. So I will privilege you with my debate analysis. First of all, with a couple of exceptions, I think that any of that group of dedicated individuals would make a fine president. They have to be, to take on the slings and arrows of of today’s challenges. Good people! I like some of their ideas better than others. I have my favorite however!

I think Biden was the most presidential. I feel he did a great job. Sanders looked and sounded ill and tired. Warren looked a bit tired as well and leaned on Bernie’s platform rather heavily. Yang? Why is he there? I like him but he needs some legislative experience. The thing is this...we need to see and hear these people in action and under fire. Three hours of high pressure questions before national TV could be defined as under fire! That’s just my opinion.

I had a sleepless night. I have stumbled around all day. Sandwiches, hummus, and fruit for dinner. That is about the best I can do under the circumstances.

Good morning. Chilly morning so a hot cup of coffee is good to both hold onto and to sip. β˜•οΈ

Bridal shower this afternoon. The bride still hasn’t said what she would like. The details were updated to say Visa prepaid cards or any unique item. I don’t feel like hunting for anything today so will be enclosing cash. My least favorite gift. The money is just whipped from the card and added to the stack, card tossed aside. I don’t give much and am so embarrassed. Oh well. Short bit of pain.

Will see folks I haven’t seen for a while and there will be silly games and lots of toddlers that come with their moms. I will be tired from the hubbub! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I mentioned I spent the afternoon with my friend working on another nearly impossible jigsaw puzzle but also waaay too much conversation about politics and the general conditions in the world today. That is just plain depressing and distressing.

Buzz, wow, your new coffee machine sounds beautiful. Enjoy it my friend. I am still in the Stone Age. I still love my ceramic pour over cup at a time brewing. It is delicious and a very important thing, no countertop space is needed. πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

Patsy, I hope today is a better and happier day. Hugs. ❀️

    Sandy, welcome home. πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Anne, you have the best grocery delivery service I have heard of with the friendly person bring your order inside your home. Maybe someday I will find a similar service. We primarily have aisles online and they will shop various stores for you. The people who deliver are similar to Uber drivers, they are not store employees or even employees of aisles online as I understand it. Just freelancing people taking a gig. Makes me uncomfortable. You don’t know who is coming to your door. So, your service seems marvelous to me.

Jackie, I am hoping the paperwork will be settled soon. Very nerve wracking process to get through. I met a lady at the coloring afternoon at the library this past week. Her father passed earlier this year. She and her brother are fighting through masses of estate related paperwork and confusions. Apparently he had many accounts and investments and things in addition to his condo and she says her head is in a whirl. I don’t know if any estates with assets go quickly and smoothly. So, again I pray things will settle soon.

Hello out there to Jeri, Marie, and other Sneakers we’ve not seen for a while.

    Hugs.

I'm on a roll sort of day, it's 10 am and I've washed, dressed, fed the pup, made my oatmeal, talked on the phone to both sons and Roy in England, made and baked a Yorkshire bacon and egg pie for lunch, taken the Bean for a long walk, cleaned the kitchen and now having my mid morning coffee before doing more chores,

Oh and I've been reading that the British gvt is giving various British towns oodles of cash to revitalize their downtown shopping areas to make them attractive and so get folks off online shopping. I think that is marvellous but can't see the Canadian gvt following suit. And LIN unless it deteriorates I can't see me giving up Gateway any time soon either and wish I'd found them earlier. The Brussels sprouts yesterday were so big and fresh you could almost see them being picked! I rarely if ever drink, but apparently they also deliver wine and spirits etc which will be great closer to Christmas.

I think there's a glimmer of hope of everything settling down soon in the old country. We've just got to get over the canvassing lot here and all the debates over the border! Roll on 2020! Although I don't want to wish my life away as it gets shorter! I'm just in a top of the morning frame of mind this morning and feel rather optimistic.

    Have a wonderful day

Another beautiful day with clear skies and warm sunshine. After my shower I was quickly out the door with the pooches so we could enjoy our walk before it got too hot. George was in sniffing mode so it seemed every blade of grass gained his attention with Betty following close behind so as not to miss anything. A couple of times I left them far behind as I strolled in my own little world. The last few Swifts and House Martins were dipping and diving over the moors doing practice flights for their imminent trip to Africa then a low flying private jet zipped along. I thought how wonderful to be up there with their views but then it occurred to me they could be looking down saying look at that lucky lady with her 2 dogs walking across the open countryside in the sunshine!

I've hopefully reset the chickens door so it will close without assistance tonight but will check when it's dark just in case. George has just had a shower and is drying off nicely so time for my afternoon cuppa then maybe continue where I left off gardening yesterday.

HA! Anne. Greek men? Well the only time I ever experienced a nasty man treating his wife like a subservient piece of dirt was in Toronto when a Greek friend took me to meet a friend of his. I will never forget that dear lady's fear of her husband as he demanded she serve us food then held a cigarette to his mouth waiting for her to light it before a threatening glare sent her from the room. That sort of scene was new to me so I didn't know how to react but had plenty to say to my friend once we left!!

Lin, I think we are getting to where we need to be with paperwork, questions and answers. One more document winging its way to me from my brother in Spain should be us done so over to the buyer's solicitor... I hope!

Must get on so I'll say hi to Buzz, Patsy and Sandy and wish everyone a peaceful Saturday. πŸ’“

Happy Saturday! :) I am home and laundry is started. It was a great vacation spent with people I love. Always great to get home to my regular routine, along with exercise and diet.
I did gain almost 2 pounds but thought for sure it was more. I will give a TMI story so forgive me. We went to a famous restaurant and I had a giant root beer float. You can see how big in the picture although the angle she took the picture is not too flattering.
    goxo00wajrfu.jpg
It was delicious but I rarely eat dairy and sugar. We left to walk around and my tummy started acting up. Then we went to a museum and while the rest of them saw the different things I spent most of my time in the ladies room. Lesson learned, no more dairy or sugar for me, my body told me so. lol I was fine by the time we got home so we were able to play our usual night games.

I kept up with all your posts and as far as politics and debates, they were discussed enough at my son's with all of us in agreement Mr. Orange man has to go.

Have a great day everyone, good to be home.

I must admit I was a bit surprised at the Greeks smelling of roses in the European abuse of women report JACKIE. However, the statistics were about women ending up in hospitals with broken limbs and/or women's shelters. Maybe the Greeks don't have such facilities. I thought Britain did really well coming fourth after greeces number one best place and mainly Eastern Europeans listed way, way down at the bottom of worst offenders. If you can find the report it actually listed the worst at the top and then dwindling down to Greece.

When I lived in Quebec my neighbours were also British. The wife was absolutely stunning in looks. Anyway one day we went to the hairdressers together. I ended up looking pretty much the same but the hairdresser took one look at my friends beautiful face and persuaded her to get rid of the old fashioned hairstyle for a short pixie look. She looked like a model. The new look sculpted her cheekbones. The next day she knocked on my door. She had two swollen black eyes and even worse she said, so did the hairdresser. That was my first experience of domestic abuse. We still keep in touch but he's long gone. He came to a sticky end by his own hand.

When I've time I'll research this a bit more, particularly Canada and the States. Indigenous women seem to suffer the worst.

SANDY, good for you! We only live once and life would be so dull without our occasional treats, said she stuffing a homemade muffin in her mouth. This after consuming bacon and egg pie and giant sprouts.

    Anne.

I've just remembered, the husband drove her to the stores and forced his wife to wear a wig until her hair grew again. Unbelievable.

Sunny day here. β€œOh playmate! Come out and play with me...and we’ll be jolly friends forever more!” However, I must do a few more chores before I can play ball with Katie.

There are a few leaves drifting down. The ground under the Apple tree is full of fallen apples. Where are the critters that usually dine on these delightful fruits? I wish they tasted better, I would gather them for a few treats. Unfortunately they have no taste at all. Their texture is awful. So they are deer and raccoon and bear food.

Abuse is such a complicated mental thing. Women who live in abusive relationships will often chose to return, even when given positive choices. Men are carrying around some mental demon that requires them toward violent action on their friends and family. I had a friend who worked as a therapist for the police dept. indescribable horror on a daily basis. I could hardly stand to be with her for a short visit because she couldn’t set the case load aside. Like so many things in life, there is more to this story.

I am baking Katie some pumpkin cookies. I am baking John some pumpkin muffins with walnuts. We are having mushroom and artichoke pasta and salad for dinner. The kitchen is a mess. I will need to mop the floor and wipe down the appliances.

My big goal in life is to be understanding. Most things have a why and how!

Just when I thought the weather couldn't get any better we have the perfect day. I walked the dogs to my favourite area on top of the moors, sat on a big rock with them either side of me, looked at the view with ponies and cattle then strolled back to the car. I'm not sure how long this Tropical blast will last but will make the most of each day.
Currently washing down kitchen cupboards while towels from George's shower yesterday go through a cycle, then I'll have crackers with cheddar cheese and a Granny Smith for lunch before some gardening. I've hopefully cracked the hen house door problem as it was already shut when I checked last night and the chooks were pottering in the run before I got up... hooray!

Happy Sunday everyone and may the sun also shine on you.

We are having perfect weather as well. I so love September and early October.
I'm not so sure women go back to abusive partners out of love PATSY, I think a future of coping alone, poverty, minimum wage jobs and children in tow is a very daunting prospect. Plus they've left their homes and possessions, friends, family, clothes and the children's toys. In some cases even their country of origin. Eternal hope is every woman's downfall, maybe he will change, it was a one off situation, maybe I'm to blame, etc etc. It takes quite a bit of courage to go it alone after years of marriage and no money in the bank. Very hard on children especially teens. Personally, I would choose life and never go back. Hope springs eternal and the women who carry on alone, in time, find much joy in what they can actually accomplish but for the ones who trembling go back for their children's sake, I do understand their dilemma.
Today we get to see family and Michael. Oh joy for one small dog. She's fast asleep right now with no idea it's a day of long walks and a romp in either the local park or Mary Jos big garden.
Just like my beginning, I do so love September and early October,
I echo JACKIE, may the sun shine on you, (but not too hotly!)

Happy Sunday! :) The sun is peeking in and out but the forecast calls for heavy rain. I am taking Joe to mass this morning and then breakfast. I will eat sensibly as I am determined to lose these unwanted pounds. No other plans as of yet although if friends text for the football game I may join them. I go to the dermatologist tomorrow to have some little white spots taken off, although none are precancerous. I also am going to make an appointment with my knee doctor because my right knee has been bothering me and because it is bionic I am thinking it could be my hip. Did you have pain down the right side of your leg Jackie? It does not stop me from riding my bike as I did yesterday but worth checking out.

    Have a good day everyone.

WIshing you all a good Sunday. Late start today as I had to check with the bank why my Visa is being replace AGAIN! It doesn't pay to memorize numbers anymore! Unexplained charge may be the reason, but at least they are watching security!
Saw an Iranian movie yesterday...talk about women abuse! If a woman is attacked, she is shunned and blamed.
Signed up for lobster restaurant so must shower and get ready for the bus. Joints still swollen and I do think it's affected by storms in the Atlantic. Sunny here, though!

Another meal has brought me in from the garden, this time evening dinner/supper. Prawn stir fry with rice noodles should be light enough although I had a piece of cake with afternoon tea so already been naughty!

Patsy, I have a friend who had a similar problem working in the Child Protection unit of our local authority. She is the most level headed, calm person I know but it got to her so she had nightmares and had to talk about what she heard, without mentioning names of course. So distressing but I felt I had to listen to allow her to unburden. Thank goodness she retired a couple of years ago, went to Australia for a holiday with her long term partner where they got married and is now back to my dear cheerful friend of old.

Sandy, my understanding is that worn hips can give pain anywhere. Mine happened to be in the lower back, thighs and groin area although I did sometimes ache on the outside of my knees apparently due to bad posture. All gone now I'm delighted to say. Just as well you check things out so you can nip any problem in the bud.

Buzz, it's just as bad in Japan where the word rape didn't exist until very recently and even now it's assumed the victim was to blame. Saw a documentary about it and apparently their Prime Minister is introducing laws but that doesn't alter society's attitudes. An appalling number of female college students get raped by male fellow students and have to accept it as the Japanese way of life!! I'll think of you with your lobster while I enjoy tiny prawns!!

Good morning and happy Monday. A thick mist greeted me first thing but it's lifted while I've been walking so hopefully a pleasant day in store. I bumped into another dog walker I hadn't seen in a while so we had a catch up with lots of laughter thrown in.
One of my new hens is looking a bit peaky so I'll have to keep an eye on her in case she's being bullied. Several bowls of their feed have today been placed around their run so she has more of a chance to feed in peace. Not much else I can do for now except hope she grows to her full size quickly then she will be 4 times bigger than the others!

Buzz, When I've finished my coffee I'm going to drive to the place I hope is pleasant enough to meet Judy and Gerald at next week. Of course I'll have to sample a cake or two! I see terrible storms in Spain have caused flooding so I do hope they're not caught up in any of that.

Coffee finished so I'll get going. Hugs to all.

Good news, for Ontario and Quebec anyway, Fall is expected to be mild and pleasant and extended BUT followed by a colder than normal winter. Time now to stock up on crafts and knitting yarn for the long haul.
Meanwhile really enjoy your cakes JACKIE! No after guilt! I've decided to give up on dieting. While not going to go overboard I think my winter years should be enjoyed with all the things I've always enjoyed. The odd custard tart, the now and again trifle, but only to be indulged in maybe on a Sunday with a roast, a roasted potato, Yorkshire pud and lots of veggies. My scales are old and useless anyway, into the garbage with them, and I've other things to buy rather than new scales. No more "pound a week post", time to enjoy my winter of content.
And it's time to take Jillo for a stroll. The skies look a little ominous so must trot.

Happy Monday! :) I have a dermatologist Appointment later this morning. Now that my sunning days are done he will remove unwanted little white bumps and what ever else is needed. Problem is they will scab so I won't be a pretty site for a few days.

Anne, I would love to stop watching what I eat but I know how fast I gain and then I would be a crabby old lady. I do cheat more than I should so I guess it all works out. I think exercise is more important than food for obvious reasons.

Lin, busy lady, your weather is different than ours today. Dreary right now with temps reaching the 80's.

Jackie, chick bullies, I hope she gets to eat and grows fast and then they will leave her alone.

Patsy, I can't remember how long your house guest was staying, did you grab a picture?

Buzz, hope all is well with you.

Back from a pleasant drive to the garden centre where I was delighted with their restaurant and display of cakes. Bad timing though as it was 1pm by the time I got there so very busy serving lunches which meant I felt it best to forego tasting a cake or 2! Anne you will see from the pack of tulip bulbs I bought I couldn't resist their name! Also saw a patio plum tree called Ontario I would have liked but had by then run out of hands to hold it what with my other purchases as I didn't think to wheel one of their trolleys in (Just as well).πŸ˜„

Skipped lunch so will see what's in the cupboard to accompany my afternoon cuppa.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the tulip bulbs JACKIE. They grow like weeds here in the spring and pop up unexpectedly in the weirdest places, carried by the squirrels I guess. Don't forget a photo for us next spring. I find daffodils much harder to grow in this region, the bulbs only last 2 or 3 years. Oh, and I guess you know the Dutch gave Canada tulip bulbs after WW11 ?

Weird happenings! Yesterday MFP asking me to start all over again with a login that didn't work and then later I got in as normal. Then, my phone rang at 5:30 am and then once again. I didn't answer because I was groggy and woken up but no message. About to fall asleep when the doorbell rang at 6:25. Peering out the still dark room I could see no one at the door or on the drive. So......I got up and made a cup of tea. All I can think of now, was it Tony from next door thinking he was on his drive rather than mine like he did with the grocery man? Maria puts him to bed awfully early. I hope not! Wouldn't like to think of him wandering about in his jim jams. I think he should be in a care facility, but.......
Anyway the downside of living alone! Fortunately, I have my trusty guard dog, the mighty Bean. Tony is scared of my huge mastiff, all 9 lbs of her!

Good morning, we are expecting another day of summer weather. Muggy, very hot, around 90 degrees F. It is Mah Jongg morning and jigsaw puzzle afternoon. So lots of chattering! Should be a pleasant day as long as the air conditioning is working. 🌞🌞🌞🌞

Anne, oh my, that is odd. The knock on the door could have been your neighbor. Good for you, do not open the door! I get oddball phone calls at any hour. Now I get texts in the middle of the night. Luckily your Jilly does not know she is small so she is a mighty barking deterrent to anyone coming around your house. MFP sometimes makes me login multiple times a week even though I’ve not logged out. Sometimes it tells me my user name is wrong, I am sorry you are having such an odd string of events.

Buzz, ick errors! Hate them. It seems here are more of those these days. Some are my fault, some are not. When I was younger I was lots sharper, hardly ever made errors with orders, etc. maybe it’s the proliferation of online orders and automated phone systems that is increasing the error rate. Hugs. Hope today is a good day.

Jackie, I love the photos. Aha, tulips! Since my dad’s family said they were Dutch, my mom always paid attention to planting tulips 🌷 even though there were problems with them. I think chipmunks or some other little critter liked to eat the bulbs. The plants in the other photo look very healthy. Do you purchase and then find a spot? Or did you have those in mind before you went shopping?

Sandy, I hope your appointment went well. If you were here you could still sit in the sun and bake. Wooo, hot, but no pool.

Patsy good morning to you. Is John still working on the deck? The neighbor across from me apparently is having work done on her deck. A contractor shows up each day and the stack of wood that was delivered in her driveway is diminishing. πŸ€—

A beautiful warm day but too hot for George who struggled on our walk first thing. We did a shorter version although ended up with me clambering through thick tractor tracks while George trotted in the middle trench! Betty stayed with George so at least I was able to keep more of an eye where my next step was. The groomer is booked next Monday by which time the hot weather will probably be long gone! Sue the gardener has visited with a variety of her 6 dogs popping in and out of the garden and cottage. Luckily neither of my pooches minds so no fisty cuffs! A letter arrived in the post from the hospital advising my tests last week show I'm clear of cancer so whoopee, another year to forget all about it!

Lin, the plants I purchased yesterday were sort of in my mind to get but I really wanted a white Japanese Anemone called Whirlwind that was shown on the tv gardening programme I watch each Friday. Perhaps everyone saw it and dashed to the garden centres to buy. Whatever, I do like the look of the strong pink flowers on the plant I bought and do have a place in my garden in mind for it once I've had some work carried out in that area, namely a hedge pushed back where it belongs and supported by fencing. It is currently covering at least half the flower bed on one side since falling in from my not so nice neighbours so the plan is to get a couple of burly men to dig a fence in for me then less chance of matty with the foul mouth shouting!! I definitely wanted an Astrantia too, any colour, and this one again looks striking and will be dug in that side too. The good news is one of the rose cuttings taken from my dad's garden is already sprouting so my chat to it and dad wherever he is, worked!!

Sandy, the very young chicks are so far looking more lively today so hopefully spreading their food bowls around has helped them.

Gosh, gone 2pm already so I must get on with my planned gardening. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Nice gardening post JACKIE! We had a lovely stroll in beautiful weather just now and we are told we will get LINS heat by the weekend which means of course you could still be in for an Indian summer.
I'll try and get into my plot today. I've done a bit of weeding already. Around where most of my tulips grow so they are not choked next spring. Had to smile this morning. Everyone down the street has very weedy lawns after the heat and humidity of last summer except Harry who never appears to do anything. His lawn is golf course perfect!
