I spy with my little eye PATSY! Lovely to meet the real you Patsy, and a very nice lady you look. I can't wait to meet the granny slippers as well. Will they have bells on them? I feel you are sure to decorate them in your own unique style. This is fun. Do our slippers reflect our characters I wonder. Must decorate mine. Mmm. I fancy a sunflower on each cos' I love flowers. Must watch out for artificial sunflowers or daisies on my next outing!
Should be a pleasant boring day because we have to wait in for groceries and my usual early spot was fully booked. Ordered a few advance things for thanksgiving which is on the 14th October here. Not that I buy it or vary rarely, but checked the stores booze list. Usual wines, beers, liqueurs, whiskies etc, but the delivery man checks how old you are before handing over. No problem there on that score, lol. They also deliver greeting cards and I picked out a couple. Pictured, they look good quality.
Well, that's my ramble over,
See you all later,
Anne 🙃🐶♥️

Lost my post 😏😣😥
In the middle of cooking George's lamb nosh so will return later but Patsy, as warm and welcoming a smile as I ever imagined so no surprises! 😊☺
Anne, does Mary Jo make marmalade? If not maybe set her a mission for Christmas. My mouth is watering at the thought especially if she can source quince! 😋
Back later
Jackie0 -
The problem with Mary Jo who is a fantastic cook is she also works full time JACKIE. However she does start making our totally British Christmas puds about now so I'll give her a hint about marmalade because I wouldn't say no to a jar in my Christmas stocking. I wonder if the romans pinched the idea when they were running amok in Europe? After all they pinched our tin, blue eyed kids for slaves and coracles which they thought wonderful because a soldier could carry one on his back whilst pinching people's marmalade. Which of course reminds me of that little poem if my memory isn't wonky.
Before the romans came to Britain,
And the British dressed in woad,
The rolling British drunkard,
Made the rolling British road.........(much hated by motorists today).
Which brings me back to my grocery delivery van which has a jar of MARMALADE in it!
Love and peace to all marmalade lovers out there dodging roman generals in the form of presidents, prime ministers and especially opposition self called leaders.

Mary jo says good luck finding quince over here. Another brilliant idea down the drain, lol.0
-
Anne, no doubt why quince marmalade died out with the Romans and citrus fruit took over! 😄
About to paint the kitchen ceiling.... No ladders or steps required, just long arms!

Good morning, I am meeting a friend for coffee this morning at the book store. I think that is the extent of my friends. I have seen everyone over the last few weeks! 😁😁
I updated my software on my iPhone and my iPad. Wow, dark mode! Speaking of electronic things, I received an email last night saying this entity has my email address and my password and they will cause me no end of harm unless I pay them $800 within 48 hours. They actually do have one of my passwords. I am now scouring all of my accounts to make sure I have changed any account with that password. I have deleted browser history. That hurt. Anything else suggested. Even if this is just a scam, I know this type of thing can happen. Thanks.
Patsy, you are gorgeous. Thanks for providing us a glimpse at your beauty. 🙋🏼♀️
Buzz, sorry about the lost posts.
Anne and Jackie, I have only had a few tastes of orange marmalade and I did not care for it. But I was also unaware of any other options.
Sandy, good morning to you. We are having a chilly morning. Mid-40’s now!
Hugs to my friends. ❤️❤️

Oops, slippers.
Those are for winter but these are my favorites
Lin❤️🙋🏼♀️❤️2 -
Nice slip slops LIN.
Horrified to read of your scam. Very frightening. I've cancelled my credit card. It's inconvenient without it but I was so fed up of endless phone calls and endless emails saying I should contact such and such a number as there was suspicious activity on my account. I can live without it and the emails and phone calls have ceased now it's gone. I was also getting very official looking emails from "Canada Post" asking for cash before they delivered a parcel in their Ottawa depot. Highly unlikely I would have a parcel and those emails also seem to have stopped since being ignored. Our mailman said it was just another scam.
Anyway, cancelling the credit card means goodbye to M&S etc, but that's okay as I'm well stocked up for now, and I can always reinstate the card in the future.

Happy Friday! Laundry is going, weather is chilly. I might have to put the heat on to get the chill out of the house. I might be going out to eat with Lisa, her mom and the kids later depending on whether Lisa's mom can go. They leave for Florida next week so it would be nice to see her before they leave.
Anne, I don't think I could live without a credit card and/or debit card. I hardly ever carry cash and charge a lot but of course pay off balances in full each month. I guess I am the trustworthy kind of person until something horrible happens.
Lin, I do think your pink slipper look like my black slippers although I am only wearing one for now. lol I think I am with you on marmalade but maybe because I only like grape jelly which I never eat anymore since I don't eat bread. (toast)
Jackie and Buzz, sorry you both lost your posts, this site is so touchy.
Patsy, love your new profile picture and so happy to finally put a face to your posts. You are indeed a very pretty lady.
Here is the slipper I am wearing trying to balance with the big shoe.
Have a great day and stay warm.

Lin, regarding that email, you have done the right thing changing your password but what I also do is copy a sentence or paragraph off such emails for a Google search. It's amazing how much advice is out there and frightening how many people receive the bloomin' things!
Apparently the people who spread malware on to computers sell on passwords that these crooks get hold of.

Manana. Busy day!1

Thank you dear sneakers, for the undeserved compliments. I feel like the lonely little onion in the petunia patch. Oh dear....I may have that quoted wrong.

Hello!
You MUST read "Michael Morpurgo, keep right on to the end of the road" on the Internet BBC channel today. Utterly inspiring. Something to turn to and read when we feel a little down.
Anne. Xxxxxx0 -
Hello, I am packing for my day of card making and chatter at the library. It is also a day of rain so must pack everything so it is not ruined by the wet conditions.
Anne, I will try to find that reading material later. BBC app on iPad?
Patsy, I love both onions and petunias. So my friend, you are never alone. ❤️
Buzz, losing posts is such a frustration. 🥺
Sandy, happy weekend to you. I heard this morning that our first frost may be later next week. No frost but leaves are falling like crazy here. Maybe not a season for leaf peeping here.
Must get back to packing.
Hugs to all Sneakers. Hope we hear from Diane as well as Jeri soon.

Aha yes, found the article Anne. Wonderful.❤️❤️1
-
Correct LIN. Honestly, well worth reading, and as he says the older years suddenly creep up on you.
I found it a very inspiring read, even if I AM turning in the bath like a turtle just like him to stand up, lol. As he says, nobody's looking! Well maybe The Bean.

Whoops, you beat me to it. LIN. Wasnt Judith Kerr a lovely lady! Well into her nineties and still writing children's books after quite a tragic start to life in nazi Germany. She wrote The tiger who came to tea PATSY and Mogg the forgetful cat.

Happy Saturday! Our dinner was a little hectic with the three kids but still fun. It was a nice way to send Lisa's parents off to Florida in another week. Then my kiddo sitting will really start so I am glad I read Anne's article which said kids keep us young.
Church with Joe today and then some food to follow.
Anne, here is the link for others to read:

Thank you for sharing.
Lin, enjoy your library day and keep warm. The sun is shining today but the heat is still on.
Hello to Jackie, Patsy and anyone else who reads our posts. Have a great day.

Anne, did you also read the story at the bottom of the page that article is on "Why my 93 year old gran is learning to fly"? An equally inspiring story. There are some amazing oldies out there including us sneakers! 😉
Saw a documentary today about British apples that get shipped to the Middle East where they love our sweet flavoured fruit while we import millions from other countries based on looks rather than flavour! I find that hard to believe. The tomato story is even worse!
My morning walk with the dogs was a short trip round the local roads because George had an early appointment with the vet to remove his dressing. All done without fuss then home to watch rugby and England beat Argentina. Knowing rain was on the way I drove on to the moors with the dogs for another walk but when we got home George started to lick his wound and stitches so I've had to put the blow up collar on which he hates of course but the last thing I want is for it to become infected.
My neighbour just delivered a basket of veggies from the allotment so I'm going to prepare my evening meal and plan some flying lessons!! 😂

A very cross George.... get this thing off my neck!!

Hello Saturday! The day is interestingly diverse. Sunny/rainy/cloudy it is a funny kind of day. Wear your sweater, carry your raincoat, tuck your sun hat in your handbag.
Katie is having a little morning nap in front of the heater. She loves the heater.???
I read the article you recommended, Anne. It was very inspiring. We here in the US, we do not value our older citizens. It seems to be the highest kind of insult to call someone OLD. We have also noticed a few clerks in stores being somewhat attentive. A village described in the article sounds wonderful to me. There are retirement villages here but we hear a lot of discontent among the residents. I am so glad Buzz enjoys her community and the facility staff. We have decided we must be our own support group.
My slippers came but I think they must be returned. They have memory foam in the insoles and they feel wobbly and squishy and I feel like I might trip if I wore them. They are warm and comfy if I am sitting.
I was commenting to John that my posts are filled with the minutia of life. His response is “that’s what makes up most of our life. Even military and first responders spend most of their time doing the little maintenance tasks.” And so it goes......

Yes I read about the flying grandma JACKIE. I've been connected to or worked in aircraft offices most of my life, been to numerous air shows and it's something I've always wanted secretly to do, fly a glider in particular. Well, never say never! LOL.

Here I am in 1990 in my fifties. No I didn't get to fly the plane! Anne.

I can’t believe that very glamorous red-haired beauty was 50 years old. Anne! Then as now, you are lovely. It reminds me of the gorgeous photos of that mysterious American female pilot.
Sun is breaking through the clouds, John is hard at work outside, I have to clean up the kitchen and plan dinner. Music is Tony Bennett with KD Lang.
Back to work,

Once again, I lose much time waking up as I'm struggling to type my HELLO! I was hoping for early bed tonight as I think 3 hours a night is affecting me. Here it is 2:00 AM! So a quicki to say how much I enjoyed your pictures, from gorgeous GEORGE, to PRETTY PATSY's new avatar, through all the comfy slipper comparisons, and on to that REDHEAD ANNE, looking very glamorous next to someone's aeroplane!
And I have some encouraging news for those lucky people (like me!) receiving too many unidentifiable phone calls . After the 3rd call in a row from "Comcast Bus" which I recognized as phony, I called Comcast to ask how come none of these calls are stopped since I have DO NOT CALL, NOMOROBO, blocked calls etc..everything that exists, yet I counted over 30 calls with no proper ID yesterday! I learned that Comcast now is checking these calls out for peopl0e who are going crazy from so many interruptions! Pick up phone after 10 seconds of ringing, 0and click *57 (Star 57)! Comcast will then have a record of the calls you receive and will work with the FCC to get those calls stopped. Incidentally, I only got 2 calls today!
LIN, I hope you reported that call! Might be a RANSOME CALL! Immediately!
I'm off to sleep ...........................

A busy day as I make the most of dry weather but had to say to Anne what a stunning photo as you posed sprawled across that plane. Wishful thinking or not, it's never too late! Reading those articles pulled me up by my boot laces so I'm determined to see opportunities round every corner to brighten up and challenge my life starting with mucking out the hen house... I know, these ideas can take a bit of planning! 😁😂🤣
Must get on so wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday just like this pair!
Jackie

Morning dear Sneakers. Up late because last evening I decided to assemble veggies, meat and herbs etc to simmer away ready for today's pastry topping and bake. I think I'll make enough pastry for a few mince pies as well, it being a very gloomy day and just right for a beef and onion pie. If Mike shows up it will be great but I don't expect him because he was here yesterday. On my own, dinner for four days! So it's no hardship taking time baking because one is then free as a bird for the next few days.
He caught poor Tony yelling at his reflection in the van window on one of his saunters with The Bean. Very sad situation.
Oh dear, I must have been scrubbed up for that photo of me sitting on that plane! It belonged to a friend of a friend. There is no one less glamorous than me! The trousers look very baggy around the tum but pleats were the fashion then. I was 55 I guess. In the middle of the "change". Quite a few of the engineers at work either had planes, were assembling planes, or belonged to heritage restoring projects. I even got to go to one of these in Buffalo. 3 friends, husband and wife and a crusty old bachelor took me along for the ride because they were taking these elderly American engineers old blueprints. I've been enormously lucky in my life all told.
And I see JACKIE is coming through so let's see what she has to say.........
Here I am back after viewing a lovely, lovely photo! Thanks JACKIE! Friends!
Yes, I thought that article very inspiring as well! It also pulled ME up by the bootstraps! I'm getting Mike to print it for me and every time I fall by the wayside I'll read again. There's life in this old gal still!
Off to don my bakers "hat".
Annsie baby (old nickname!) or Anne, the inspired one. Xxxxxx0 -
If anyone's interested, here's my 18 year old Mark about to have a gliding lesson. He gave up when he met MJ! Maybe I should have paid for myself instead, I was rather broke at the time!
I admire people who go down potholes but shudder personally at the thought of entombment. Give me a bird soaring feeling any day in an engineless plane!
Anne.

Happy Sunday! Sunny day today after raining once we got to church yesterday. I am so glad I keep an umbrella in my car or Joe and I would have been soaked.
A video call with my kids today and then I will probably watch the Bears play from London at noon unless I get an invite somewhere.
Anne, such a good looking son and that pin-up girl on the plane is beautiful. (you still are by the way) Enjoy all your baking, I am making chicken wings for dinner.
Jackie, what a great picture of the furry kids, isn't it wonderful how Betty loves her home and siblings??
Buzz, thanks for the tip on the robo calls. I have comcast phone so hopefully it will work for me although I never pick up the phone if I don't know the number.
Patsy, love you choice in music.
Lin, busy church day??
Have a wonderful day.
