Sandy, 😱😱😂🤣😅😆

I'll give it another go, (dear old MFP), but not so long this time. Mike came over on Saturday because he has a weeks vacation which started yesterday and somehow I expect to see quite a bit of him this coming week because he will be bored with all his pals at work.
Anyway, he decided to treat me to lunch as a belated birthday treat. The treat turned out to be a Mexican burrito. Boy was it hot. I felt like my insides where on fire just like after that bottle of something he bought that was like Vesuvius exploding. The burrito didn't affect him at all and when he left here it was to meet up with his friend and 19 other people at a Chinese restaurant. I can only think the years he spent in the army have made his insides like corrugated iron. The Chinese restaurant was to meet 19 friends of Robs who are all going to the Caribbean next month for Robs wedding.
Seeing my guts where somewhat unhappy I decided to make a vegetarian cabbage and potato pie with an onion white sauce for lunch. Very bland! Insides and I have settled down now you will be pleased to know! Plenty left over, but not exactly to Michaels taste who's threatening to come and see us tomorrow.
And tomorrow is Election Day here in Canada. By all the polls it would appear we are in for a minority government. Most people seem, like me, completely clueless who to vote for. I think Justin will just scrape in. Of course all 5 parties are promising us all sorts of goodies, promises which won't be kept of course.
JACKIE, I, along with George and Betty I'm sure, will be pleased when this trekking to London is over for you. I just hope you don't meet up with the Brexit opposition blocking the streets. I gather millions turned up in the capital to protest on Saturday but I guess they will have gone home by now to wash their undies until the next demo.
SANDY, I never would have guessed you would be afraid of the odd skeleton or a thing that goes bump in the night. BOO, lol.
BUZZ, I'm so sorry your legs are playing you up, and
PATSY, LIN and DIANE I simply daren't go back to see what you wrote because this will disappear into thin air if I do.
Enjoy the rest of Sunday,
Anne.
PS. I'm afraid this post is nothing like the scintillating post I wrote this morning. You will have to take my word for THAT! Lol.0 -
Hello again, church went quite long today, I cleaned up communion and stayed to chat with a couple of people so got home quite late. I have been working on card fronts all afternoon. Hope to finish 3 more before the evening is over so I can put these supplies away. I have to see the PBS show that is on at 7pm here. Love the scenery. Is it really Corfu?
Today was quite lovely but rain is on the way once again. I was going to try a morning/early afternoon in the art room at the newly remodeled Senior Center but I think I *could* get more accomplished if I stay home. Big maybe.
Sandy, I am with you, I do not like scary stuff. Not scary movies or Halloween haunted houses or any of that. I would hold Robby’s hand too!
Anne, apparently you don’t use much hot sauce on your food on a regular basis? I get in a mode when I throw a bit on my food, other times, all I want is a baked potato. 😂 Glad you survived.
Jackie, hopefully the last trip to London will be successfully concluded and you can go on with your life. I also hope no demonstrations are on tap for that day.
Patsy, still celebrating? I hope it has been marvelous.
Buzz. I also hope your legs are behaving now. Hugs.
Hello to everyone I have missed. Wish we heard from Marie once in a while. Happy to have Diane here. Jeri, are you okay?
Well many hugs. ❤️❤️

Hello sneakers, yes our son is headed back to,Portland. We had a grand vist. Heard all about another girlfriend who was constantly texting him. Hummmmmmm! His life is very interesting. His two old doggies really seem old and creaky. I know he is going to be devastated when then they take a turn for the worse.
Katie is so tired she hasn’t moved in an hour. All the time Damon and the little doggies were here, she was intent on controlling them. To no avail, however. Poor little girl is so territorial and jealous.
John and I are thinking of changing our exercise routine to morning instead of evening. We are too tired in the evening to do justice to the effort. Sounds rather self evident, doesn’t it? I admit it is hard for me to rearrange my life.
Anne: my love of spicy food would put you in the hospital. I always have a really hot pepper in the veggie drawer of my refrigerator.
Sandy and everyone: I love scary movies and books. Steven King is a favorite. But I love detective books, romance and self help. My taste runs wild, as you can plainly see.
Tomorrow is sheet changing, bath room cleaning and vacuuming lots of dog hair.

Yes....well I also turned the page and remember very few specifics and do not dare turn back for fear of losing my reply! Went to the auditorium today after my pancake brunch and saw Red Joan with wonderful Judy Dench. Could tat have been makeup or total lack of makeup making her appear anything less than my beautiful favorite? I thought it an excellent movie.
The clock is creeping and I find I feel better with a couple of hours more sleep. Busy busy busy day tomorrow with some pleasant meetings, and others not. Will our renovations ever finish?
I personally preferred the bright happy colors an patterns of the old decor to the new bland designs chosen by our "committee" for the next several years.

Sandy....you gave me a good laugh, but I totally understand. I have never gone to a haunted house. I am a big chicken ! Once watched the movie Wait Until Dark yrs ago in a theatre and that too has made me very apprehensive to watch horror movies. As for amusement parks with scary rides. Thanks but no thanks. The few I did do I got sick, so not my cup of tea (other than Mickey Mouses Wild Ride in the childrens part of Disneyland). That one is ok. I know not much fun am I ? Thinking a corn maze might be fun, but a bit knowing me I would get lost in the big ones.
Enjoyed the luncheon with 8 of my neighbors last week. It is the only way I can get caught up with the neighborhood gossip as well as find out who is moving etc. I live at the far end of the street. The active people are down towards the other end. My end has mainly people too ill to get out of the house much. Slowly our senior community of 3500 people is changing. It is nice to see the new faces around here.
Has anyone experienced problems with their knees ? So tired it them holding me back from getting some exercise. One is feeling better now, but the other still is giving me some pain. No swelling, so am trying to stay off of it and keep it elevated using a heating pad occasionally. Yrs ago it meant I needed some new shoes. That was an easy fix, but as I am getting older I am thinking these aches come with the territory. Per my dr no NAIDS, so I am trying to avoid taking anything. More recently I was put on a DASH Diet (low salt). When you start reading labels on everything it is in everything. Sure limits what I can eat, but healthy whole food generally. Yes it is a challenge.
Does anyone own an Instant Pot Pressure Cooker ? I am trying to use it a bit more often. I made some Butternut Soup in it yesterday using a basic recipe and added to it. I also cooked the squash cut in half first and then it was easy to remove the other part. It made 6 servings, so that is ok with us.
The one plus for the week. My hubbie and I went to the local casino the other night for dinner and to play the slots a bit. First time in 10 yrs I have won any kind of money. Last time I bought our poodle with the winnings. Trying to decide what I want to do this time. My old flip phone could stand to be replaced, but then my tablet is also probably 6 yrs old. Better to buy something with my winnings than to try to make a million with my winnings. Our casino is about 10 minutes away. Really a bit too close, but we are pretty good at staying away.
Trying to find something to knit or maybe crochet. Two of my granddaughters last year mentioned they wanted an Afghan for their rooms. They read a lot laying on their beds. Not much of a crocheter, but I do enjoy the little that I know how to do. Time to check out some websites for some ideas.
Nice to see you are all getting involved in your projects again. I admire all of you artsy people. There is so much talent in this group.
Well that is it for now. Time to pick up a bit before bed. I tend to stay up too late, head to bed and then can't sleep. Tonight should be a good night for sleeping. Sure glad the evenings are cooler again !!

Happy Monday! 😃 It is only 9:15 and I am already exhausted. Between the dog and kids this is not easy and I am too old. Put dog in crate and came downstairs where most of the toys are so should be fine for a while. Have a good day and wish me luck. Lisa should be home by 4:00.

Good morning. After a night full of thunder, lightning and downpours, the sun is shining now. But I did wake up repeatedly so am not running on a full tank today. 🙃
One load of laundry finished and I have been sorting out some cards from my stash that were made in my very early days of trying to make cards. Yep, they are going bye bye but not through the USPS. I didn’t sort too ruthlessly which likely means I will repeat the exercise again some day.
I have a couple of errands to do so will leave soon as later on more rain is expected.
Sandy, I hope your day with the kids goes well. Now that frightens me!!! I could dog sit though. 😃
Patsy, a lovely celebration. Wahoo! And my, another lady was discussed. But then it would be difficult to avoid if the texting was fast and furious. 🙂 Dogs should have longer lives, they are such sweet souls. Now. Changing routines, that is very difficult. Adopting a new bad habit can always be slipped into my routine, something healthier, not so much.
Anne, I hope you and the dear Bean have a wonderful day.
Buzz, more sleep is a good thing. I am glad you are taking care of yourself. And I hope your legs are better with the additional rest.
Diane, my goodness, a winner at the casino. Well done. Purchase something that you’ve wanted or that needs replacing. An extra chunk of money doesn’t arrive often. Best wishes on finding projects to crochet for your granddaughters. Way back when, granny squares were all the rage. I kind of liked them as you could work on them bit by bit and didn’t have to worry about doing big chunks of work and then finding mistakes. I do not like to rip things out.
Jackie, your advice about the doggie seemed reasonable to me. I have a friend who dog sits and most people want her to stay at their house with the dog (s) so things are not too strange for them. She has regulars now. Apparently she knows many people who love to travel without their pets.
Well, must move on.
Wishing everyone health and happiness. Hugs. ❤️❤️

P.S. I see you posted Sandy. Oh my!!!!! Courage my friend.0 -
Our temperatures are definitely falling and although we had a lovely 2 mile walk across the moors first thing I was glad I had a hat on but was hiding my hands up my coat sleeves out of the wind! Afterwards I found myself dealing with one email after another to do with the house sale until I felt I was being badgered by the estate agent to speed things up so let's just say I was extremely firm in response and he quickly backed off!
That's another day almost gone!
Sandy, you are truly amazing but perhaps a few hints should be dropped! Looking after Bob on Saturday was tiring enough without any kiddies in the mix. 😲
Lin, I get the Impression escape artist Bob is suffocated with fuss and finds it impossible to be without his mum but certainly wouldn't be so unhappy in his own home. When my neighbour house and dog sat George and Betty recently they didn't care a jot!
Sorry you had to suffer a disturbed night. Impossible to sleep when thunder is crashing outside! I usually get up and put the kettle on. 😁
I can see more emails arriving so will post and return after I've dealt with them and eaten my evening meal.

It is so cold out there. Oh my! The sunshine did not last long and it did not warm up. I think we have wind chill today. I don’t think the temperature increased at all today.
Jackie, I am sorry the emails are unceasing! I always wonder how there can be so many details left when these professionals handle transactions every day. I would want everything tied up early rather than tearing my hair out n the last few days. I know, I live in a dream world.
Diane, I use an Instant Pot. I make soup almost every week in the winter. Also use it to cook quinoa and oatmeal. I have used it for many things but the ones I mentioned are my mainstays.
Sandy, still out there?
Hugs.

Greetings dear sneakers. My Monday tasks are still in the works. Taking a break before continuing on.
The laundry is mammoth this week. John helped by dumping a full load of his work clothes in the laundry room. Wow! This will take all day and part of tomorrow folding and putting things away. Part of the joy of having “company” visit.
Easy dinner tonight of soup and sandwiches. By the way, I use our instant pot for darned near everything. Chili, Irish oatmeal with apples, raisins, and cinnamon, boiled eggs at Easter, salmon chowder, veggie soup and pasta sauce, just to name a few things that I make in my hard working instant pot. I would be lost without it.
So good hear from you Diane. It is Lovely to see all the sneakers. You all make my day. I mentally chat with each of you as I go about my day.

I am home and as expected exhausted. Tomorrow is a new day.1

I woke at 6 AM so I might have a bite prior to heading for a dreaded "renovation mistake" meeting on our 5th floor. Seems the carpet baseboard does not match the blue in the new carpeting and the know-everythings wanted it changed to white wooden baseboards, which I suggested would be dirty and scratched within days! Eventually, our director was summoned and she informed us she had already ordered the proper color replacement color, deflating a few egos along the way! Next, I went for my flu shot, which I never felt and while in the waiting room , read an article describing vividly how several of MY habits are contributing to my worsening RLS and That means much shorter days for me! Regular bedtimes and early times and longer sleep hours are important (I messed up again today!).
After lunch, went to my appointment for a survey run by a research group on widowhood, between 3 and 12 years ago. The 26th will be exactly 3 years since Mike's demise, so I fitted right in and 2 hours later was amazed at how much I learned while helping the team understand how different people are affected! It should help me cope with this coming "anniversary" as well!
Following dinner tonight (with my dear Evanses , JACKIE), I attended a Meet the Candidates night for our Residents' Board. I hope my nap went unnoticed!
So here I am, late as usual, and sneezing my head off from an allergy to the dust invading my building while the renovations drag on! Drip drip, sneeze sneeze constantly but not a cold! UGH!
Finally seeing an orthopedist Wednesday re: knee and hip and eventually will include shoulder and upper arm. I think I'm falling apart! The thought of baby-sitting tiny great grandchildren would have me shuddering, SANDY dear.(P.S., I don't have even an inkling of ever having any!)
Hugs to all of you, and even though too late, I think of you all day, every day! !

Not much from me after a late night watching the polling results. Justin sneaked in again by the seat of his pants and will lead a minority government which I don't think Canada is familiar with. Everyone seemed to be like me, no idea who to vote for. The next four years should be interesting with the NDP ganging up against the conservatives and voting with the liberals on put forward policies.
Now for Brexit. Well life ain't dull!
Anne, yawn.0 -
A minority government Anne... well you know what that has done for us Brits!!
Nothing but phone calls and emails since our doggie walk so I'm heading for the garden for an hour leaving all forms of communication indoors!!
Interesting though, I received a security alert from Google telling me my password had been changed which I hadn't so I immediately changed it then received notification 2 emails blocked, 1 subject "Duty Free" the other "Ciggies" (cigarettes) so looks as if someone was using my account.
I shall return... 😊

Well, I just hit one key as I was typing and my lovely post disappeared. I will say good morning.
Wishing everyone well, disgusted with MFP problems.
Off to Mah Jongg. Hugs. ❤️❤️

Happy Tuesday! I got a good night's sleep but still tired. The good news is Lisa told me not to come today since I am going back Thursday after my meeting. However, my good friend who was in Reno celebrating her 85th birthday hurt her leg, especially her knee while in her room and using a cart to move around. She was going to the rest room and ran into the edge of the door. She still went to dinner but it became so painful they called 911 and the paramedics came and immediately gave her a shot to knock her out and brought her to ER.
She is home now and in her local hospital where they will be doing surgery to drain her knee.
It is oozing and looks horrible. (her daughter sent us pictures). We were to celebrate her birthday next week at lunch but I doubt that will happen. Also think our casino trip in November might be cancelled which would be okay with me. I could use that money for Christmas. Three of us are going to see her in the hospital this afternoon.
Jackie, I am just wondering if the person who hacked your email was sending emails to the Real Estate guy who is bombarding you with emails. Or maybe the hackers themselves.
That's all for now ladies, I must eat and get myself organized to leave for hospital.
Sandy
One Day at a Time1 -
It has been a rainy cold fall morning (probably the whole day as well) in truth, I have enough to keep me very busy here inside, I doubt I will even have a chance to look outside.
It is the birthday of my bestie old pal in Alaska. My big dilemma is....naturally I let this day sneak up on me with no card or gift. I am devestated! Oh well! I will call tonight and maybe she has enough time for one of those famous girly chin wags full of giggles and gossip. Remember those? Just can imagine the giggles if we could have a sneaker visit.
Read that Jimmy Carter fell twice and fractured his pelvis. He is 95 but still very active in Habitat for humanity. I was never very impressed with him as president but his volunteer efforts after retiring has been inspiring. Wishing him well!
I am decorated for Halloween and thanksgiving. My decor is mainly a collection of pumpkins and big silk fall leaves. Our son also knew the glass blower who made a couple of the glass pumpkins. When he came this past weekend, he said he has a collection of glass seashells he bought from this same artist. It is lovely to think about the legacy that artists leave behind.

It felt like Groundhog day when I found myself inundated as emails flew in yet again but finally mid afternoon contracts were exchanged so the house in London is sold. Sadly, an aunt of my school friend is receiving palliative care in a home some miles away following a rapid decline in her health so my staying with her Thursday night is not certain. At the same time my neighbour who will take care of George and Betty told me her father was rushed into hospital with a suspected stroke so she might have to rush away. Just when I thought news couldn't get worse a message arrived from my brother living in Spain. He was driving down a steep coastal road to his local town this afternoon after heavy rain when his car hit an oil patch and spun out of control through a crash barrier then rolled down 30' of a 100' cliff towards the sea. He told me he had seen nothing but sky and sea before rolling and was convinced he was going to die but luckily the car stopped upright on a ledge although he couldn't get out because the roof and one side were crushed. The next bit of luck was that a police car had been following him on the road so they called the emergency services to cut him out and amazingly he was able to stand and walk away but was taken to hospital with cuts from broken glass and a bang on his head. He was breathalized but had only been drinking tea... a family trait!! In a message earlier today he had told me about their torrential rain and my response had been not to go out if he didn't have to but apparently he decided to go to a Bible class. I'm sure he's going to have lots of aches and pains in the morning but things could have been a whole lot worse and I'm hoping that is the last bit of bad news I'll be hearing for a while!
Have to say to Patsy I thought of you this afternoon when I went to a local shop for a few items and came upon a collection of gorgeous scented candles! I'm sure your bestie friend will forgive the lack of a card but love a chat and gossip phone call.
Sandy, for sure a hacker was doing something weird to my computer but changing my password has stopped all that. At such times the finger touch security is a great invention as it makes changes so easy. I do hope your friend will be alright when you see her. Her knee sounds painful and messy!
I must get to bed as its nearly midnight. Hopefully few emails if any tomorrow.
Nite, nite 😴😴

Oh JACKIE, sympathy and best wishes sent.
I've said it earlier and I'll say it again, this year has been the devil of a year for such a lot of us.

JACKIE< I stopped breathing as I read your post and of course am so relieved for you all that'he "walked away,"...Now I must complete a survey for my communit0

Javkie, I am incredibly sorry my friend. What a day! Goodness. May life be calm from this point forward. ❤️❤️
Lin0 -
Lost my post!! 😬😬
Will pop back later but wanted to say thanks for the messages which really do help. Things do seem to be improving in all directions and the trip to London definitely on 🤞🤞.
Agree totally Anne, too much drama this year and I can't wait to slip back into to my bubble!
❤Jackie0 -
Jackie: holy moly! I was having internet problems and as I finally checked in with the sneakers, I read about your day and almost broke down in tears! This house sale has been such an ordeal and then your brother’s accident! Take extra care my friend. I know everything will eventually sort out but I know it has not been easy. I did the same thing with my mothers house. The house sale was with my two brothers and me as owners. My younger brother was in very poor health. So I had to drive the whole sale from 1100 miles away. Then there was the problem of our brothers health. I know it has been a real heartache for you and the added worry for your dear animals. My heart goes out to you. Sending you all my good thoughts and prayers.
Patsy☘️0 -
Wow, hardly seems right to say happy Wednesday with all the bad news. Jackie, I am so sorry about your brother but what a miracle that he walked away. Your description of the fall was horrifying. Did they keep him in the hospital?
My friend's news is also awful. She really hurt her knee and I would post a picture but it looks horrible. Since she was on a blood thinner all the blood is in her knee so they need to do surgery to remove all the blood and bad skin. It will be an open wound with a vacuum to heal it. She will have to go to rehab for a couple of weeks because it would just be too hard at home. She is very upset and very afraid.
I agree this has been a bad year for everyone, not that I want time to go any faster but let's hope next year brings us all some comfort.
Have a foot doctor appointment so have to run, try and have a good day.
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
Good morning. Just stopping by to say hello. MFP has crashed for me again today.
It was a cold drippy morning as I made a trip to the grocery store for the discount day. Now I am home and the sun has popped out. My marketplace sale fell through yesterday but at least I heard from the buyer and we will try again this afternoon.
Wishing everyone a very safe day. ❤️❤️
Hugs.

Trying to cut the lawn before I go away as rain forecast tomorrow and Friday. Just came in to use the loo, forgot my phone was in a back pocket and SPLASH, 💦💦💦 guess where it ended up? It's had a gentle blow dry and seems none the worse so back out to finish the lawn!
Never rains but it pours!!
Jackie0 -
Eeeeck!!!! Oh Jackie. Have you put the phone in a bag with some dry rice? I hear that helps to dry them out more quickly.0
-
I think JACKIE, the best place for you today is in bed and under the covers.
Please, please, please take care with that lawn mower!
Anne, ..........having a very quiet day drawing.0
