That's it Anne although I only discovered today that it's called a wolf moon when I asked my neighbour if she had seen it. Today has been sunpshine and showers so our usual walk was cut short when I gazed across the moors at a rainbow then realised those clouds were heading in our direction!
    f4umyac6rf89.jpg

Back home the same neighbour dropped round with a chainsaw and helped to cut down one rather dead tree. The branches have been cut ready for a bonfire and main trunk layed out against the fencing for little bugs to use as their home. Since it's raining again I've come in to put the kettle on. Both dogs snoozing after a busy day helping! 😁

Anne, Charles apparently wants to drop the hangers on and dead wood once king so I'm guessing that's the way forward in order to remain popular and as choices go I'd prefer our system, however archaic, to a presidency! As ever I'm taking all rumours with the proverbial pinch of salt!

Marcella, I missed your post from yesterday that I'm guessing arrived as I typed. What a great group your fly fishing ladies sound and I'm sure you will have a ball joining in their escapades. 😉

I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday. What a topsy turvy start to the year it has been but I'm maintaining positive thoughts for 2020.

Well JACKIE the Chinese New Year when the rat chases away the little pig hasn't started yet, so hope springs eternal. Like you, I prefer the British system deep down as well. There's such a LOT of them now so it will be great if Charles can cull the tribe. Little Archie is 7th in line I believe so if Harry and Meghan are here chopping trees down he can grow up a happy little boy with only the mosquitos bugging him. I'm sitting back observing now but must say there's interesting other news out of the dear old country! Hint, Ben Wallace. Very wise if you ask me! Which of course you haven't, lol.
    There's always a rainbow somewhere!

Happy Sunday! :) We didn't get the big snowstorm predicted which is fine with me. I did go to mass alone yesterday as Joe agreed he didn't want to take the chance. After a video call with my kids it will be a lazy day for me.

The big meeting with the Queen is Monday although Meghan is in Canada and will join in by phone. She is doing a voice over for Disney but that was arranged before their announcement. She and Harry agreed that her salary would go to Elephants without Borders, one of their favorite charities. I am sure it will all work out and they will always be welcomed home.

Anne, I can't wait for the rat to chase the pig because so far this year things have not been going well. Any visitors today??

Jackie, you do manage to get some beautiful pictures on your walks. Does cutting that tree have anything to do with the fox???

Hello to everyone else but we are on a new page and it hard to remember what I read. lol

    Have a great day.

Good morning dear sneakers. We have at least a week of awful weather. Very cold, rainy, some ice and snow later in the week. I will let Katie out and about out in the back, then maybe a fast game of ball inside. It is hailing right now. I must dream up an interesting project and keep making soup.

I have never quite understood the British government structure or what part royalty placed. As a group and family, they seem like a cross of our movie stars and diplomats. Sort of...they are an interesting group. Not sure it will be possible for Prince Harry, Meghan etc to just opt out for awhile. They are a very glamorous little family that always draws attention. I understand everyone’s opinion of American presidency and our brand of democracy. It doesn’t seem to be working currently as originally planned. When everyone follows the rules and operates under a very well thought out constitution, well! It is a wonderful way of governing. Partly based on British example, I am sure you remember. We will all persevere and get back on track.

Things are getting back to normal here. The plumbing is working. John has a replacement for the broken yard light. Although I want him to wait until better weather. Being up on a ladder in icy rainy weather is foolhardy. However it is the sort of thing John would be inclined to try!

Today will be pea soup and cornbread and fruit for dessert. A call to our son and maybe our daughter as well.

If we had a moon, it was well hidden under a dark rainy sky. I suggest wearing a warm sweater, listen to cool jazz, make cinnamon toast with breakfast or for afternoon coffee break.

Had a quiet pleasant day, pretty comfortable for a change, until I tried to order from Harry & David with a generous gift certificate, and it took 2 seperate staff and 2.5 hours to order seperate items to my liking! They want to sell grouped items, and the add-ons were not whatI like or eat! Finally worked it out, but got none of their discounts by buying only what I would eat!
I didn't mean to cast aspersions, ANNe dear, but I guess I missed the bride's mother being shown to her seat at the wedding. As an American, I can be very sensitive to racism, and this is a truly racist country! But there are the PATSYs and JOHNs to balance out the others!
MARCELLA, where will you be camping? Florida is a huge state, but I enjoyed meeting several of our dear friends passing through! Of course, I no longer drive so that is more difficult since Boca Raton has no camp grounds lol!
RLS making siting impossible , so I waited too late to go online! Our wolf moon was announced but I haven't seen it,,, or ever heard of it before! Could we send JACKIE"S fox up to it? Loved the rainbow!

Good morning! Storm Brendan on its way and already the wind is howling down my chimney. Definitely a day to stay off the moors and out of the woods since gales apparently likely to bring trees down. Wallpaper stripping seems a better option!

I know where I’d love to send Mr Fox 🦊 Buzz although I love to see them in their natural habitat! 😄😄

Oh JACKIE has our rain storm blown over to Cornwall already. I gather our east coast got "the works".

My dear BUZZ, I KNOW you are the LAST one to cast aspersions, I just wanted to point out that the royals seem to have tried to make this mature couple, no longer young at 35 and 38 everything to make them happy. Lavish wedding, a wonderful home after a 5 million dollar renovation. Just a suggestion, but could the problem be a conceived racism from a mixed race person sensitive to such matters from their past? In other words a racism in reverse to the usual?
So pleased you had a more comfortable day yesterday.

Meanwhile, back here in the house which I hope isn't soon renovated, or I should say demolished, we are forecast freezing rain for today and then it warms up a little on Tuesday. In a way snow is better. At least you can grip the ridges with your daisy crushers whereas with ice one is in danger of landing on ones back like a beetle. The good news, yes there's good news, not a sniff or sighting of a mosquito. I think the coyotes and foxes are on the prowl at night though because it's rather heart stopping at 2 in the morning with Jilly howling at something in the garden.

I shall now shut up for the day and I think keep off the iPad as I tackle the washing etc.
    Hugs to all, Anne, ❤️

Good morning. I did the usual church duties yesterday. The parking lot was a skating rink while a bit of ice melt had been spread on the bit of sidewalk leading to the door. I think the ice kept more of our older people from attending. I drove quite moderately on my way over and back. Home safely. Then I shoveled snow so that the full width of the driveway was uncovered. Lunch following and then started a bit of work on valentines once again. Felt tired so I soaked my tootsies and fell asleep.

My two cents worth is that no matter where Harry and his family live, they will need 24/7 tight security at a major continuing cost. No matter what he does, he is an international celebrity, just as his mom, I don’t see how you can run away from that. That is all.

Jackie, wooo, bad storm. Indoors seems the best option.

Anne, we have a week of cold weather coupled with chances of more precipitation. Perhaps Friday will bring a storm. Definitely January. And I agree, snow is better. Ice is just not manageable.

Buzz, well done. You stuck with it and ordered what you wanted. I admire that. I am more likely to just take what I can get. And then grumble a bit later.

Patsy, back to normal, wahoo! Love that. Fingers crossed that John stays safe if he tackles that light. I am drinking a lot of hot tea, delicious and warming. Cozy.

Sandy, did you get the coating of ice? We only got a few inches of snow, wish the ice had missed us.

Marcella, were you in the path of any storms? Hoping all is well.

Hello to Judy, Shirley, Diane, Jeri, Alice, and everyone else I have missed.

Hugs and wishes for health and happiness. ❤️❤️

    Happy Monday Morning!
Yesterday ended up being a wonderfully lazy day. I guess it’s nice to have one of those from time to time. Today, I will be returning a couple of wallpaper sample books to the store. I was at least able to decide on wallpaper for one of the 2 rooms that needs re-wallpapering. The rest of the day will be spent on laundry and painting the upstairs hallway area. Fun times!

Buzz - The relative’s river lot where I will camp is in Hatchbend, FL right on the Suwannee River. (Close to Brandford, FL and if that little town is still too small to know about, it’s just a little southwest of Lake City, FL.) I will also camp at a Campground in Tallahassee, FL. Most of my relatives and long-time friends live in or near the Tallahassee area (my original home town.)

So Harry and Meghan are to spend part time in Canada and part time in the UK. The Queen understands their desire for independence although she would have preferred them remaining full time working royals.
So it appears alls well that ends well.
    A solution that makes sense.

Happy Monday! :) Here is my hint of the day. Never use a bluing tablet in your toilet. You would not believe the day I had yesterday but just for laughs I will try to explain. While wiping out my toilet with a small rag I accidently flushed the toilet and my rag went down. I was a nervous wreck and the kids were waiting for me for a video call. I explained what happened and my son in law told me to go back and flush but bring towels with me. They waited until I came back and all was well. After ending the call I checked the other toilet in my guest room and took the top off the tank. Oh my gosh, you wouldn't believe the sludge that was floating in there. I didn't think to wear gloves and started to pull all the sludge out into the garbage can. I must have flushed that toilet 20 times and tried to get the stuck bluing tablet off the bottom of the tank. It took forever and then I checked the toilet that I flushed the rag down.
No sludge but i decided to get rid of the tablet which again was stuck. It was quite an adventure and my hands were blue. Finally everything is working and no backup from the rag.
I just hope it made it to the sewer and not my neighbors pipes. And how was your Sunday??

Marcella, you and Jackie have a lot in common as far as energy. I could never wall paper or paint, just don't have the talent.

Lin, I didn't leave the house yesterday but I don't think we had the ice predicted. I am also staying in today so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for our birthday lunch for another friend.

Anne, 35 and 38 mature couple???? I don't know any 30 year olds who are mature but of course Prince Harry and Meghan are royalty and have been raised much different than the average person. Anyone under the age of 75 is young in my book. lol I read an interesting article that said Meghan's mother was seated in the second row at the Church just as Queen Elizabeth and that she was in view of the cameras as the couple took their vows. Harry and Meghan were in charge of seating so they planned it well.

Jackie, stay safe and keep warm.

Buzz, I am glad you got what you wanted without being bullied into buying something you didn't want. Too bad no discount for all your time and effort.

Have a great day everyone, hope it is peaceful.

Storm Brendan has moved on after screaming like a speeding train all afternoon. Lots of trees down but nothing close by thank goodness. First thing, George and Betty were walked round the block then I drove into town for a few items, mostly shampoo that somehow I’d run out of. As it was so windy I decided I should wedge a couple of heavy blocks against the side and back of the hen house in case it blew about and scared the chooks. That in turn covered my raincoat in mud so next job was to get the washing machine on. Lunch was salad with a small shop bought mushroom, ham hock and cheddar quiche so my first tiny piece of meat for over a week. My GP practice nurse phoned to ask if I would like to make an appointment for a “complimentary” flu jab but as I hesitated, thinking to myself there’s more risk catching flu in their waiting room, she told me they wouldn’t give me a bad mark on my records if I said no. Having asked Is there much of it about and been told no more than usual I declined her offer!

Sounds like it was the weekend of the toilet blockages what with Patsy’s septic tank then Sandy’s blue block and cloth! 🤢 A funny coincidence Sandy, last week I wanted to use a bucket to wash a floor and found it still had soapy water and a large sponge in it from a previous job so removed the sponge then tipped the water down the loo. Splash! 💦 Something slid out from the bottom and disappeared down the flushing toilet so I was convinced things would back up later as it could only have been a cloth but so far so good!

Another storm on the way tomorrow, unnamed this time so maybe not so fierce but I’ll try to get our walk in early before it gets too windy.

Still lots of rumours and “fake news” being reported about Meghan and Harry, mostly by the tabloids who continue their nasty ways but I’m with the majority that say give them the privacy they crave. Hope I’m wrong but I doubt, wherever they live, the paparazzi will leave them alone.

Late morning ...lots of chores and feeling decidedly tired and a bit grumpy. I don’t think I got enough good rest.

Just another odd thought here. I always wondered how on earth internet romances could ever really happen. Chatting with our son about much of his design work and special effects for movies are all internet based. Our son said that many of his friends have even had internet romances and even marriages resulting. I have belonged to a writers group for a few years and an artists cooperative, all internet. We really know each other’s personality and preferences. There is always that person in the group that you just enjoy immediately and someone who you can feel the hostility across the miles...even though you have never met. How does that happen? Simple words on a computer can eventually detect personality! Anyway, I was just musing as I drank my second cup of coffee before tackling changing the sheets etc etc etc. I am selling several paintings to a new restaurant opening down the coast. Yea! They have been hanging around way too long. They are huge and graphically need a large space to hang. Packing up these paintings for shipping is an expensive nightmare.

It is cold, raining and dark! Not my favorite kind of day but spring promises more sunlight and warmer weather. I will try not to complain. My heart breaks for Australia. If I could only send them some of our rain,

Your posts are better reading than any book and challenge my thinking, as well. Have time to respond only to ANNE, though and a big YES! There is definitely reverse racism and if I put myself in the shoes of those whose history was victimized, it is more than understandable. ....Nevertheless, it colors (whoops) relationships. So sad! I will just about make dinner now. The weight loss requires more cover up makeup! I think it's called sagging!

Bless you BUZZ for understanding what I was trying to say.
I'm giving up on makeup. I remember my mom saying she got richer on the old age pension than she ever did with Dad's wages, and I now understand what SHE meant! My wants like her get less and less.
Thanks for the smile SANDY! I believe the human brain reaches maturity at 25 so anyone who isn't mature at 38 is a lost cause! When we emigrated we were told that at the grand old age of 37 we were far TOO mature to emigrate by the official who interviewed us, and his guess was we would return home in two years at most. Well official, I'm still here 47 years later. Can't say I've matured that much though in all honesty. Well except for joining Buzz in the sagging.
I'm starting to rather like Justin's moustache and greying beard. Definitely makes him look more mature.
JACKIE, with all the rain have you examined George and Betty's feet for webbed toes? I know you'll be okay because you will be wearing your wellies.
Oh boy PATSY, shades of the future with personality detecting computers! I know what you mean though, our personalities do come through as time goes by.
Well, the Bean and I wish everybody a lovely long sleep with pleasant dreams,

    Night night, Anne.

    Feeling blessed this morning. o:)
Around 2:00 this morning, my eldest son called to tell me that his car had hydroplaned on the interstate and had been hit from behind by a large truck. The car was totaled, but he and his passenger had gotten out without a single scratch. In fact, no one in either vehicle was injured. He also told me the officer that had been called to the accident was particularly nice. This is our 27 year old son who does not live with us. He lives about 45 minutes away (depending on the time of day) in downtown Atlanta. Anyway, I told him to call me this afternoon so that we can figure out next steps. He had already been looking for a new job and now he doesn't even have a car. Hopefully, his insurance will take care of a rental can for at least a little time. Maybe this means I'll have an extra person at home for a while that can help me with the painting and stuff that needs to be done to get our house ready to sell!

Jackie, what really wet weather. A photo does really tell the story. Woooo. Gorgeous , albeit soaked lady!

Marcella, thank heavens everyone is unharmed. That is just amazing. I hope your son’s insurance will help him. Meanwhile, a bit of help would be nice if he has free time.

I have been doing errands and just arrived to play Mah Jongg in a bit. To the library this afternoon to color. I hope the librarian, who has been ill, is recovered now.

    Best wishes all. ❤️❤️

Happy Tuesday! :) Cleaning girl is coming at 11:30 and I am meeting friends for another birthday lunch. Of course there will be some gambling after, that goes without saying.

Marcella, thank God no one was hurt, cars can be fixed or replaced, people not so much.
I do hope he comes to help you and can get a fresh start with a new car and a new job.

Lin, enjoy your day, I know you love the game. Prayers for your friends return.

Jackie, that is a lot of rain, you are a brave soul to go out in such awful weather. (love the picture)

I better eat some breakfast as I will probably have a cocktail with lunch.
    Have a great day.

Pleasantly surprised to read the Queen is accepting the couples separation from Royalty's duties, and will encourage them to earn their way through life! The rest of us have figured out how to do it, and they are far from stupid! Que sera sera! JACKIE, your complexion is what I've always read about British creamy skin! My cleaning friend came today and I feel lke a new person. My paper piles are neatly stacked and ready to be placed in the bin and in 2 hours we have a monthly "Birthday cocktail party followed by dinner (Osso Bucco) and entertainment. I hope my Restless legs cannot continue to screwg up my movements! Overall, though, my physical being has become more comfortable, I just need to get up and MOVE around!
Thank Heavens I get occasional respite from twitching...

Holy cow! We have snow! Not much maybe a half inch and there is more precipitation moving in. Rain on top of the snow...interesting travel challenge. Most of our little town is built on steep hills, very much like San Francisco. Scary to think about driving anywhere. Ooooops! It is snowing again!

The debates are tonight, should be interesting. Things are really getting hot now. Also, watched a pbs program on crafts from the Japanese internment camps. It was amazing and at the same time heartbreaking. Beautiful things made from nature because that is all they had. It was inspiring.

I have little knowledge about the royals. That whole aspect of English life is a mystery to me. The young couple seem very glamorous and rather like movie stars. Harry is cute and I love his red hair. Do we have equivalent to royals here? John laughingly suggested that Marilyn Monroe was surely a princess...maybe even a queen. Well, now I think Paul Newman was a prince of a guy!

Eeeeek! Cleaning bathrooms and mopping wet muddy/snowy kitchen floor.

I've just seen on an American news channel that a huge proportion of single American retirees are living with single retiree room mates to make ends meet. If I end up with Mike I will be following the trend!

Can America have the equivalent of the British royal family? I think you have to trace a line of your ancestry back to at least William the conqueror in 1066 and it helps if in the past you were good at winning battles and chopping the odd head off PATSY. So alas, the beautiful Marilyn wouldn't be a contender unless she had married into the European aristocracy. English history is fascinating and if you can find a copy of Winston Churchills "History of the English Speaking People's" it should keep you absorbed for hours. It comes in four volumes and starts around 55 BC and ends in 1914. Of course the USA is in there which helps us Brits understand your parliamentary system. Not sure if it's in print these days though.

It rained all day while gusts of wind bent trees one way then the other. By the time I dried the pooches and myself it was time to prepare lunch then I had a lazy afternoon doing little. My so-called waterproof leggings couldn't cope with the heavy rain we walked in so I've been searching for a pair that won't allow my legs to get soaked.

Scary story Marcella that thankfully turned out alright. Just goes to prove how our lives can be turned upside down in a second.

Yes Anne, the only bonus from walking in our rain is softer skin although if it goes on much longer my face will turn into a prune!!

Patsy, the Kennedy family set up was probably the closest to our Royals with generations born into privilege and an assumption of power. I suppose old man Joe got that started even though he hated us Brits!
    Snow!! Stay home and safe.

Time for my bed so I'll finish here. It might be a dry day tomorrow... whoopee!!

Britain and rain JACKIE. I've always maintained that whilst we might die of pneumonia and bronchitis we probably look pretty good doing it when it comes to lifelong living with the "gentle" rains of heaven. Of course alas, things change when we move to harsher climes. We hardly recognized my auntie when she came home from years in the Middle East. However, after a few years in Bridlington, rain and spray from the North Sea soon had her back with her peachy skin.

Good morning. Freezing drizzle overnight. Ack. I have book club this morning and the discount day at the grocery store. I am contemplating what to do. While I drove places yesterday, I never did make it the half block (on the ice) to retrieve the mail.

I agreed to go to a movie on Monday with my newly retired friend. I am rethinking that as well. Monday is a Holiday so the movies will likely be packed. Also I ended up talking to some friends yesterday outside the coloring room. A woman attended the event who kept coughing and coughing. I have no idea what her problem was but I was not interested in sitting in a small room for several hours in a spray of coughing. I know, I am a wimp.

Jackie, I agree, the Kennedy family was as close bas we have had but still not royalty. Now any celebrity is treated as something beyond special. And many such people may be lovely to look at but should not drive the morals and beliefs of a country.

Patsy, oh my, snow! My preference to freezing rain although now we are expecting 3 - 6 inches Friday night into Saturday. I wish the ice would disappear before then. Wishing will not make it so.

Buzz, hello dear friend. I hope you are feeling better today.

Sandy, you are a very productive and social lady. Wish I had the wherewithal to do the same. ❤️❤️

Marcella, did I tell you I love you new rig? I do, it is perfect. A relatively manageable size to pull but a great powerful truck. Well done in your choice.

Judy, are you still out here? Thinking of you today. ❤️❤️

And greetings to Jeri, Diane, Karen, Alice, Bob and all other Sneakers...

    Hugs.

Happy Wednesday! :) Our luncheon was perfect, we had a great time. Gambling not so much fun as I lost. :s Hopefully, I can recover some money at bingo tonight.
So Babe calls me this morning and said the internist finally called with the total results on Daisy. I am not sure I agree and I have a feeling Anne might not either. He said that Daisy has been on boiled chicken for too long and it has irritated her intestines. She also is on Rimadyl. in fact the regular vet put her on two pills a day. The internist wants her only on a special dog food with cottage cheese. He claims that is too long to be on chicken but again I disagree. He also wants her to stop the Rimadyl which I believe she was on for her hips.
Naturally Babe and his son are blaming the regular vet but because his son is the one explaining things to Babe I am not sure how much is fact. Daisy is fine now but Babe is such a drama queen he doesn't listen to reason. Aren't my calls interesting???

Lin, I had to check my phone to see if we are expecting snow as well and we are. We have no ice for which I am grateful but I am ready for summer.

Time to eat breakfast/lunch, have a great day.

Sounds more like the problems of an older dog I would think. How can tender boiled chicken hurt Daisy?
If it helps SANDY all of our pets have had home cooked meals with variety often thrown in, and all lived to the usual age from 13 years to Spot who we found as a stray and had for 18 years. We don't know how old he actually was because he was a mature dog when dad brought him home. Our very nice lady vet offered no advice or alternatives when told Jilly was eating home cooked meals with the majority being chicken. Maybe the internist couldn't think of anything else so why not push the commercial dog food.
It is hard though isn't it wondering what to do when we are wanting to do the very best for a much loved pet.

Thought, has anyone told JACKIES fox he/she shouldn't be eating chicken?
    Anne.
