Happy Monday! :) Chilly but sunny day but again will be staying inside. I have an appointment for a blood test tomorrow, a recheck of my cholesterol to see if medicine is doing it's job. I put in an order to Walmart for Wednesday so I can bring a few things for Thanksgiving such as rolls, sugar cookies, blueberries, cool whip, an angel food cake and wine. Most are for me as Sue is having pumpkin pie for dessert and I am not a fan and my instinct tells me the kids won't be either. I put three cards in the mail (the mailman takes them for us) in hopes my son's birthday card arrives by next Sunday. I have many birthdays in my family for November must be cold in February. lol I am also waiting for a call from an eHealth to see about changing my supplement since my current one is raising me $25 in the new year. I did change my prescription insurance to Silver Script but have to wait to see how much the monthly premium will be with my penalty for not taking prescription when I signed up for medicare.
Also have bills to pay so still a busy day.

Lin, cute puzzle. You are a good friend to be there for your friend with dementia, which must be hard on you.
Were you at the Church helping with the turkey dinner? If so I would recommend getting tested even with no symptoms. I have to admit even within our bubble I am still worried about all these new infections. We do not wear masks when together but maybe we should. We have been safe so far but who knows for sure. I have not seen Joe in over a week and if the weather keeps getting colder I would guess our visiting days are over until spring. We do talk on the phone but I will not visit him in his home for both of our protection. Love the tea set but love the puppy more.

Bob, like Lin, I too am shivering from that photo. That is the first time since I have been separated that I ordered from Omaha and I managed to fit it all into my freezer boxes and all. I am glad you will be with your kids for Thanksgiving, will everyone be wearing masks or just social distancing??

Jackie, love that picture, the clouds look amazing. I did read the Boris is going to open up on December 2, even though he was once again in quarantine. I am still watching the Crown and I did not know an intruder got into the palace and into the Queen's bedroom. I wonder if she handled it as well as the movie suggests.

Anne, interesting and funny because Robby tells us that we should all live beyond 100 years old. Sorry about your snow but please keep it in Canada. I do hope it clears up enough for Mark to fix your window pole. Does this change your Thanksgiving plans?? Love to see a picture of Jilly under her blanket.

Patsy, no news is good news??? Please let us know how your daughter is doing.

Barbie, hope all is well with you and Jake.

Have a great day everyone and please stay safe.

    Sandy

P.S. I sent a card to Buzz and told her you all said hello and miss her.

Sandy, I sent Buzz a thanksgiving card. I call periodically but never connect with her. And no,
I only attend church online so did not volunteer to help although they asked. I just stay home. I think I should be the safest person around😉

:) After reading more about the spread of the virus, Jake has decided to cancel his appointment with the chiropractor and the hair stylist next week. He is also researching ordering groceries online for curbside pickup. We already see almost no one. The woman who walks with the dogs and me comes into the house for a few minutes each morning as she has for years and I have one friend that I meet for a walk on Sundays in my neighborhood. Each of these friends goes almost nowhere and always with mask and gloves. From time to time I speak to a few neighbors at a distance outside. We do drive through pharmacy and banking and curbside pickup at the library.

:)Bob, Where we live in NW Washington state, it is not usual to see men in shorts and heavy winter jackets.

Men in Shorts in November! May God help their poor knees when they reach my age.

Our Canadian Thanksgiving was way back in October and just me and Michael celebrated SANDY. We had the free turkey left by mistake if you remember, and told to keep when I phoned about the mistake because the lady at the distribution centre said they couldn't take back mistakes because of the virus. Pumpkin pie for dessert. I love pumpkin pie with cream or maple ice cream.

What troubles me about this virus is that governors/mayors/politicians don't seem to understand that if you cordoned/quarantined off the hot spot areas where people either can't follow the guidelines or won't we might get some control over it. There's hardly any infection in my hometown where we mostly follow the rules but after last Saturday's shopping frenzy in Toronto and Brampton we will probably have a lousy Christmas the same as the shoppers and party goers.
I believe the Chinese did this with one of their towns and just about eliminated it in that area.
I gather a town in Kent is the hot spot now JACKIE. Like our problem areas, quarantine it off for two weeks, no one in or out, but of course then there would be an outcry of "police state".

The intruder in the queens bedroom - at the time it was reported that she calmly chattered to the man until the security arrived. Quite a remarkable lady, Queen Elizabeth.

Well there is some good news in this epistle. The snow is melting and almost gone. I'm not as cranky and frustrated as I sound with the two legged "I won't get it/it's a hoax" lot. No point, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Just pray none of them breathe on me, mine, and you friends.
Stay well clear and healthy, please,
    Anne.

    https://www.insider.com/the-crown-michael-fagan-broke-into-queens-room-buckingham-palace-2020-11

Sandy, I don't watch The Crown so was interested to read how they portrayed Michael Fagan breaking into Buckingham Palace. At the time a PR job was done on how the queen reacted but this article sorts fact from fiction!!

Funny coincidence, a few weeks ago during half term when we had lots of visitors in the area, I noticed quite a few young people wandering on the moors staring at the ground looking for what I know to be Magic mushrooms and smiled to myself because back in the 80's someone I worked with chewed some and apparently weeks later was still dealing with the effects of being high. Never again was his promise so I understand Michael Fagan's story of weeks of living in a fog!!

Cornish pasty hot and ready to eat so back later (again!)

It was a very short gym visit… foot pain said “stop” – then decided to try the Sandy “recumbent bike” but the way my foot was in stirrup – decided a 2nd day of resting foot was best. Jean met her friend for lunch and I set up Christmas tree as planned (won’t decorate for a few days).

Cooked a lunch of - Buffalo Chicken Burger, 0.5 patty, Grilled Vegetables, Flora Roasted Red Peppers, Spaghetti Squash, and Riced Cauliflower… (Still not out of the squash kick that I started as a replacement for a pasta/potato side dish with low carb/calories)

    9bnof8f57c1i.jpg

Lin – Good going on finishing that card for your friend! As for shorts, since losing so much weight I am often “freezing” and now lounge around most the time wearing a sweatshirt. Love the window open for sleeping (as long as I am under the down comforter) – but definitely a change for me… Jean and I have switched temperature roles. :D

Sandy – You came to mind today, as outlined in my opening. Might try that recumbent bike again in the near future. No sun here today… so a bit jealous. Good luck with cholesterol numbers…my next re-check is in January. Never cared for statins given all the opinions, but then cardiologist said it was also because of my near 800 calcium score and other issues…and that also has differing opinions. Oh well – for now I take it. All that food you mention sounds delicious!

As for Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family, it will be a different celebration for sure. Andrew turns 13, but total number is being kept to 10 – her family, my x and husband and us. We will be wearing masks except for eating at table. This is what my daughter suggested etc. and no matter the situation, we abide by whatever makes any host (or other guests) comfortable is alright. We never make a contradictory statement or suggestion. The way we see it – the #1 thing is that we are together, #2 it’s only a couple hours – so just do it. Life is easier that way. :)

Barbie – Until recently that was me…. Shorts, heavy jacket and hat…. Now I am a “layer-up” kind of guy that likes about 30 days of winter… too bad mother nature gives us 4-5 months depending upon the year. As for the virus – the color coding changed per Cuomo today for certain sections of the city. Fortunately our area wasn’t impacted and Blink gym will remain open… I again can state without a doubt that gym is cleaner than most homes with never ending wipe downs by members/staff, temperature monitor, masks, equipment distancing etc. On the flip side – liquor stores are always open – crazy from a health perspective IMHO…

Have a great afternoon everyone… time to finish my John Adams mini-series dvd’s. Bob

The hen house was mucked out just in time as drizzle drifted across my garden and before that I shopped for George’s raw meat as well as mixed corn for the hens and peanuts for a bird feeder that hangs in a cherry tree. It’s interesting just how many stores have remained open during this lockdown so must consider themselves essential because I see little difference from before. We’ll learn later in the week which areas will remain locked down and I’m hoping I’ll be in a tier that allows my hairdresser to reopen! The good news is British scientists have also developed a vaccine which will hopefully be cleared for use next month so we’re going in the right direction.

Lin, such a sweet Dachshund I hardly noticed the tea set and as closely as I searched I found no sign of Peter Rabbit in Mr McGregor’s garden. Perhaps he’s hiding in the cabbage patch! I too tried phoning Buzz at the weekend without luck but will keep trying.

Bob, lots of our posties wear shorts year round because they cover so many miles on foot but I’m guessing the one in your photo got caught in a sudden storm! Sorry to read you’re currently struggling to get your steps in when normally you start your day with a great total. Was it wrong shoes gave you the callus or plain bad luck? Night cramps aren’t great either. Could you be dehydrated for some reason? Thats usually the reason I find myself jumping out of bed and up and down! Your nutrition charts are very interesting and I can see why you opt for squash over pasta. Unfortunately I love pasta dishes!

Anne, I heard an official on the news this evening refer to “mixing households” as a reason for Leicester having to remain in lockdown for months so I expect there’s a similar problem in the town in Kent. Hundreds of illegal migrants arriving at beaches from France in rubber dinghies having to be housed in cramped conditions hasn’t helped.

It’s that time again.... bedtime! 😴

I received a note from Anne. She has lost access to our group. I am not certain if it is all of the MFP site but definitely cannot get to us since shortly after her last post.

She asked me to let you know.

    😕😕 so sad

Very modern teapot Lin and beautiful but I’m wondering how arthritic fingers would cope with its handle! Is that a sign I’m getting older? 😕

Oh dear, let’s hope Anne can work her way back to us even if it means registering again. Hopefully her snow has melted so the boys can get to her and help while hanging her curtain pole.

Another grey day and becoming colder but we managed a long walk so having finished soup and crackers lunch with a tasty apple, I’m heading back to the chicken run where the automatic door opener is playing up. It didn’t open this morning so they had to wait for me to turn up. Hopefully new set of batteries will do the trick.

    Happy Tuesday. Back later.

:) Jake has been understandably concerned about the huge spread of the virus last week and has decided that we should shelter even more than we already do. I showed him how we can order groceries for pick up using the QFC app on my phone and that seemed to be a good plan for him. Unfortunately meat and ice cream seem to be a problem so the plan is that we will go to Costco this morning and be poised to walk in the minute they open the doors for senior hours. He will get meat and ice cream and I'll get a few other things and we'll check out our carts separately. We probably have enough food and supplies to last us until long after Christmas but with life so uncertain, I am easily encouraged to buy more.

:)Bob, when I read your post about deciding the rules for Thanksgiving, it reminded me that at my house we follow the rule of "what's best for the relationship". It helps to have agreed upon guidelines for the family, that may or may not be the same as what others are doing. I have a recumbent bike in my living room. It's where I sit to watch TV and ride while I watch.

:) I will venture out at the end of the week to pick up some library books at curbside pick up.

:) I have a sign on my refrigerator that says, "We already have everything we need".

Hello again. Cold and very wet but at least we have shifted over from snow and sleet to rain. I shoveled my driveway last night which I think was a good idea. My deck still has a layer of slush and there are areas of slush on the roads and sidewalks.

Jackie, you are right. The teapot would be a devil of a thing to deal with when hands are less than cooperative. I did think it was an interesting teapot though. Not one I would want. And Anne is having all sorts of problems with receiving texts but not any with pictures attached, issue with Netflix, cannot access the Jacquie Lawson site, cannot receive texts from friends/relatives in other countries. She has changed her password for MPF but says she cannot get to Sneakers. She thinks something was messed up when her son was helping her last Saturday (I think) with settings on her iPad and with her Internet account. I hope it can be fixed without an in person visit.

And darn, another problem with the door opener for the girls. Gosh, it takes a lot of attention doesn’t it. And you are right, there was no bunny in that puzzle. 😉

Barbie, very good idea to get curbside pickup or deliveries. Hope you are safe as you endeavor to stock up. I have relied on Amazon for tiny purchases of things that break, etc. My Fitbit wristband went bad and I immediately ordered a replacement as they had overnight delivery for free with Prime. Of course, it went missing but it surfaced again this morning. I may get it by 10pm this evening. ☺️

Sandy, did you get all your Thanksgiving items from Walmart?

Bob, go with the flow right? Not everyone has the ability to do that. There is moaning this morning from the Covid family in quarantine about how they won’t be able to go to our retired pastor’s funeral to gather with family and friends. Really? I bit my tongue. Lots of things people are going without, I think they are fortunate that they are not that ill from Covid and haven’t ended up in the hospital all alone. So good for you Bob.

    Patsy, are you out there?

Hello to Jeri, Diane, Buzz and the rest of our Sneakers.

I am working on a prototype of a paper ornament that I might make for my friends. It is mailable, if it works out. And each should only take a few hours. 🤣😂🤣

Also still working on multiples of a card. I made two for examples and now have pieces cut out for maybe 10 more.

And then there is this. Sort of a mix of time frames for the items included in this puzzle.

    Best wishes.

Another day off form the gym…but took a short walk. We both left the house at 7:15am per car dealership service campaign. Weather isn’t really horrible, just cold (no real icy roads or snow). Last night I came across a photo I took in New York City (1/2018) – who would think that was a great day in NYC compared with Nov. 2020. Not hungry yet, but already have planned in my head (baked asparagus tips, wrapped in bacon with cheddar cheese) – actually made it up in my head an hour ago.

    aj1ongnui6xh.jpg

More nonsense from Cuomo with parts of our county being changed from “orange” to “yellow” coronavirus zone. So much politics (and not to imply we don’t take Covid precautions seriously when valid reasoning is used). The mall (one of the largest in NYS) is in the “orange” zone – but no one knows exactly what that means… the mayor is trying to find details. Meantime – businesses are dying.

Hard to believe Cuomo actually had the you know what to accept a special Emmy Award for his televised briefings during the pandemic – as Janice Dean noted it’s "so insulting" to people given his disgustingly inept handling of nursing homes. As Janice also stated: "I have talked to so many families that are just, they are heartbroken that this governor does not accept any responsibility for, in some cases, his deadly leadership." OK – I’ll stop there…
Jackie – Your situation sounds much more severe than what we are going thru… again…Central NY is not like NYC and I am thankful for that. Wish you the best.

I am missing the 5am gym treadmill. The real problem is the callus is located at the joint connection to forefoot. Sooner or later it will resolve….time to soak this afternoon. As for cramps, I think it is just a circulatory problem… with some prominent veins etc. I hear you on pasta – NEVER thought I could break away like I have… I mean… Italian is my number one food and for decades never went a single week without pasta, FRESH Italian bread, meatballs and homemade sauce. YUM.

Lin – Nice modern Italian teapot – never saw one like that. You’re right about “going with the flow.” I do know, I probably sound annoying to some people at times because very little get me “over the top” and always can think of people worse off. It doesn’t mean I don’t care, I just tend to put things in perspective. I have known too many people that have died decades too young not to be grateful. (ps – nice puzzle!)

Barbie – Like your “what’s best for the relationship” philosophy. I intentionally did not interject any opinions/ideas re: Covid into the mix for the holidays. It has always been their house for this holiday get together and let them run the show. There is always a chance it could be cancelled. My daughter got a text from a friend that a teacher was quarantined because of their contact with another student etc. Doubt it would have any impact BUT… I know they take it all very seriously and my daughter would cancel in a heartbeat if notified of any possible connection. We are prepared to go with whatever happens. Good going with the bike – Jean likes exercising at home, but for decades I have been a gym guy – even when we had a treadmill at home – it is like the “Cheers” bar for me.

Bye for now – almost lunch time! Bob

Hello dear sneakers! Rainy and chilly here. But as I often say, this IS PNW, after all.

And now for my tale of woe. Our daughter is still in the hospital and has multiple issues. She will see a specialist or two this week. There are whisperings of cancer but no real diagnosis. As you can imagine, I am, as always, a hysteric, ready but not able to swoop in and try to help. It appears my superwoman cape is in tatters.
Can’t get into the hospital, my son-law is not handling the crisis well, but maybe that’s to be expected. We have been expecting an event like this for years. Our daughter has very Poor health habits but she is a very creative and dynamic personality. What to do? I will stand by, wringing my hands with anxiety.

As for Anne’s MFP issue, you remember I had the same problem recently. I had to rejoin and devise a new password. Then, finding and connecting to my dear sneakers required what seemed like hours and trial and error. We can try to keep her in the loop with email. A sneaker group without our Anne is just plain WRONG!

Time to call the hospital again, get my cranberry relish made, load of laundry switched to dryer, if I can find them, paper napkins with thanksgiving design to put in our daughters thanksgiving dinner box. We are holding out hope that she might get out of the hospital on thanksgiving but really seems unlikely. As we do here every year, repeat with feeling and sincerity, I care deeply for each of you. Thanksgiving always brings about a need to state the obvious. Thank goodness you all are there!

Happy Tuesday! :) Time got away from me as I was on the phone trying to change my supplement. The application is done so now I just wait to see if they approve and what the rate will be. I got a $25 raise from Mutual of Omaha so now I see Aetna is offering plan F (the only one I will use) for $180.00 a month. Wish me luck.

Patsy, I am so sorry for your daughter, her family and all of you. Think positive thoughts and know we will be praying for all of you.

I really must run as it is almost time to leave for sitting. Have a good, safe day.

Happy Wednesday! :) Another dreary rainy day and I will be picking up my grocery order later. Thank goodness I don't have to go out in the rain. I am hoping all my items are in stock but so far I didn't get any notice about any changes. I at least hope the things I want for tomorrow arrive especially the bread croissant
Joe is on an antibiotic for his swollen gland so hopefully he is on the road to recovery. I think our communication will be on the phone until Spring unless we get an exceptional warm day. Ha Ha!!
I did get my balcony lights done before the nasty weather so I am grateful for that.

Will do the rest over the weekend if in the mood.

Lin, odd, but cute teapot. Thank you for the card, you are one of the most caring people I know. Any word from Anne? Can you just send her the link to the sneakers and see if she can find us that way?? I can't seem to find her email address or I would do it myself.

Sandy, I sent Anne the link. I haven’t heard from her today. She has more issues than just the Sneakers but I would be happy to have her here even though other things aren’t working.

She said yesterday she may really need a new iPad.

    Love your decoration! Blue💙💙

I hope you get the items for tomorrow. Sorry, I thought you had picked up your order.

Also hope Joe is on his way to recovery.

    Waving to everyone.

Patsy, thinking of you. Sending you hugs and love ❤️❤️❤️

Sunshine finally but with it cold temperatures. First thing I took Brady to the vet practice for his annual booster. It was the usual routine with me phoning them from the car park then the vet came out to collect him and ask if I thought he was healthy. She had a North American accent that I think was Canadian and seemed very pleasant so I was sure he’d be ok plus he’s always laid back! They always give him a thorough examination but at that point I was happy to sit in the passenger seat with the door open and legs outside. It wasn’t until I later took the dogs for their walk on the moors a biting wind hit us.
Yesterday I made contact with the eBay seller of the automatic hen house door that’s not working and have now posted it back to him for repair. I chose a small out of the way post office so it was nice and quiet then drove to my local builders supply store for timber to finish constructing the fox repellent fence. They are struggling to obtain supplies so I was lucky to find some I will have to jig about with but no wood screws to be had. I’ll have to rummage in my box of odds and s.ods!
This afternoon I’ve been hedge trimming with help from my neighbour and we worked until it was dark; then she pointed out the space station hovering above us, a tiny speck of light to the left of the bright moon!
I’m sipping a cuppa and trying to get my feet warm while a piece of chicken roasts in the oven.

Patsy, what a horrid situation to find yourselves in as I know you are feeling you need to be hustling medical people to get on and sort things, plus right now is not a time to be suggesting any hospital stay is for the best but it does seem from what you’ve told us she is receiving the attention required to discover what’s going on. I know none of that is going to stop you feeling as you do but hopefully you will also sense all the love and big hugs being sent in your direction. ❤️
A shame we live so far apart... I could have forced a jar of my cranberry and crab apple chutney on you and John!

Bob, we all have opinions about our politicians and how they handled the pandemic so far. I see right and wrong on all sides in England but of course will never know how the other side would have coped if they’d been in power. Let’s hope all this will soon be a long and distant dream (nightmare!)

That’s an hysterical teapot Lin although the poor turkey has an expression that says it knows what comes next on Thanksgiving day! 😢

Pretty Christmas decoration Sandy. As per usual, I will start to have Christmas thoughts a few days before the event! Fingers crossed your shopping order is present and correct.

Anne was making bread earlier so I’d say all is warm and cosy in her home! 👩🏻‍🍳

My chicken has cooked so I’ll head for my kitchen.

    Take care and stay safe.

Just finished lunch - Asparagus Tips, Haddock (Baked),Spaghetti Squash, splash soy sauce, lemon and coleslaw – BRING ON THE TURKEY!

    mvm9ndpqbwjl.jpg

Sandy – And a Happy Wednesday to you too! Looks like we will be getting your leftovers tomorrow – Temp expected to be almost 60, a bit of morning rain; otherwise, cloudy.

Like Lin said -- Love the balcony lights!

Jackie – Agree on the politicians…so much depends upon where you live and what the media reports. In the case of Cuomo it is a fact hundreds (if not thousands) of nursing home patients died because of his bad decision and he so far refuses to release full numbers. He probably could have avoided a lot of backlash, by admitting some mistakes were made and we were all dealing with a never-before experienced pandemic etc. But admitting mistakes is not in his nature. I am with you – can’t wait for this to be all over – and as noted before, we don’t have it remotely as bad as some.

Weather-wise that “biting wind” sounds less than appetizing. Enjoy that cuppa, keep those feet warm – and don’t let the chicken burn. LOL

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! Bob

:) While walking the dogs yesterday I listened to a podcast about depression and anxiety as the days get shorter and virus restrictions increase. Among the recommendations was continuing with familiar routines. We are the champs of familiar routines. We do the same things at the same times every day. Today is no exception. No fancy meal, no decorations, no Zoom chats with family members, just the same things we do every day.

:)Sandy, your balcony decorations are beautiful. If you were in my neighborhood, I'd want to walk past your house (apartment). There are some nice decorations here. Some are lighted in the mornings. I have walked after dark the last few days and enjoyed the lights that are on only in the evenings.

:'(Patsy, so sorry to hear about your daughter.

:) Jake is happy. We zipped into Costco as soon as it opened for senior hours on Tuesday and now he has candy and ice cream and salsa and lots of boneless chicken to make all the recipes for his Ninja Foodi. The fancy candy he ordered via Amazon came yesterday. Next week we'll figure out curbside pickup at QFC.

:)Bob, I worked out at a gym for years when I was in my 30's and loved it. I went faithfully three days a week. Now I prefer being at home but when you talk about the gym, I remember the days when it was a fixture in my life. I also used to go to Jazzercise classes, and now I dance in my spare room alone almost every morning.

Heading out to pick up birthday cake for grandson (turning the Big 13) and then off to have a small (under 10 people) but blessed meal with daughter and family.

A very HAPPY THANKSGIVING dearest sneakers! The day begins with showers and a bit chilly. I wish I could give you all a tight heartfelt hug to let you know we appreciate each and everyone of you. Take care until I can see and chat with you and hear all about your day.
    Grateful you are there,

Thanks for all the lovely greetings. I enjoyed the parade this morning followed, happy happy, by a dog show! Yes!

I have chomped down my mid-day feast but there are leftovers! The tofu was done early. 😂🤣😂

Wishing everyone a happy and safe day.

    Lin🙋🏼‍♀️

I typed a post this morning but no sign of it now! You’ll all be tucking into Turkey so I’ll wish you a peaceful and healthy Thanksgiving, Tofu Lin and leftovers for tomorrow! 😁

A beautiful sunny day for us, lots done in the garden and now it’s feet up time.
I looked up at the night sky and spotted the space station again! Amazing. 🧑‍🚀👨🏼‍🚀

:) Our day looked like every other day and was delightful. I've just come home from my evening walk which turned out to be 15 minutes with both dogs walking around the big field and 20 minutes of me walking by myself around the block where I saw neither any people nor any vehicles.

:) I hope your day was a pleasant as mine.
