Thursday.......already !!
Well, I've just woken up to snow and 19 degrees F or MINUS 7 centigrade! What! I wish someone could have taken a photo of us this morning. Both of us in bed flat on our backs with two faces peering over the duvet. Me with hair stuck up and out all over the place, Bean with tongue out attempting to lick my eyelids - this is trying to get me to ungum the eyelids and wake up. Ugh! What's worse, minus 7 or wet eyelids.
We had a super surprise yesterday, Mike went very early to the barbers here and called in on his way home. Jilly Bean was beside herself with joy. She got to go out with her favourite human but not for long because Michael came in looking like a red frozen lollipop especially around the ears now shorn of hair. He brought me a suction bath mat to prevent further bath entrapment on my part. Mmmm, I'm sure I'll find a further adventure.
Marks still repairing, but....it's my grandsons birthday!! He was a lovely Christmas present for us all 28 years ago.
So what have you all been up to?
I know it was a sad day for LIN.
I think JACKIE, you should have piled into the car with two wet doggy smelling doggies and said, "how kind of you to give us a lift home" but then you are a much nicer person than me! What did Brady bring home this time?
PATSY, wonderful news about Andrea being on the mend. Hey we all can have a pity party now and again. It makes the sun all the brighter when it comes out again. Isn't it wonderful though that if we can't touch (and my lads aren't great kissy types at the best of times) we have communication. Must have been awful for family back home when the kids toddled off to find their fortune in the new worlds! Months of waiting for a sailing ship to carry back a letter, that's IF the kids remembered to write and if they COULD write in the first place!
SANDY, I can't get the images alas, but I can imagine the Grands in their Christmas garb! Robby I remember, has grown like a weed. I remember us all waiting for his birth. Seems like yesterday.
I think that's about all for Wednesday.
A Happy day for all you Sneakers is wished for today,
Anne, the ice queen.0 -
My day has gone pear shaped since an early call from Robbie who will reline my chimney to suggest the scaffolding might go up in the next few days. I phoned a friend I was going to join in a round trip to deliver Christmas cards to local friends to say that although I'm convinced I have no more than a mild cold, I've been asked to take the Covid test so it would be crazy to share a car ride for an hour even if a chance in a million I've caught it. We cancelled until I get a result and I then walked the dogs for a couple of miles to come home to find Robbie and scaffolders wanting to construct the poles and boards today. I'm hoping they will be finished in the next half hour so I can take the test I did earlier to the post office. Apart from gagging when the tip touched the back of my throat the rest of the procedure was easy with barcodes to scan on my phone and little bags and a box to return the test in.
I love the photos Sandy but my goodness, haven't the children grown. It really does seem like only yesterday they were each being born!
I'm so pleased to read your daughter is improving Patsy. What a relief and hopefully she will be able to receive the vaccine soon as a double whammy!
Your plant sounds perfect Anne. My poinsettia is dead and I do think it was overwatered in the store before I bought it. I didn't buy another when I shopped yesterday but am stocked up with a few goodies that might just survive until Christmas.... mince pie has just been consumed with a cup of tea! Now is the time for Mark to really take care and not be tempted to lift the slightest weight.
Time to get myself into town to catch the post. Will pop back later to check with everyone.
Stay warm everyone (not so easy for Bob in freezing temps!)

Hellos, dragging in to say hello. Yesterday was the graveside service for the lovely gent from my church. Complete with military honors. There’s really no way to make it through such a thing without some sadness and some wet eyes. Several of the grandchildren were sobbing and wailing as well. Oh my.
That was my third online funeral/graveside service in the last few weeks.
I got up this morning and said, okay, clear decks now for a while. I called my Thursday morning lady to chat as usual. But her son told me she fell last Friday, was hauled off by ambulance to the hospital for surgery due to a broken femur and now resides in a rehab facility which is also a long term care facility. No telephone in her room and he hasn’t spoken to her since she left the hospital. This is not a good place to be. I just informed the rest of our coffee group. Now everyone can worry, not just me.
I have read your posts but will just say I wish everyone well. I am happy to hear your daughter is recovering Patsy. Jackie, I will also be concerned for you until you get your test results because that’s what I do but probably just a cold. Sandy, I adore those pictures. Anne, glad Michael stopped by and is still employed, hope Mark continues to heal and happy birthday to your grandson. Bob, I am sure you are staying busy. Barbie, hope you are well.
Lots of online meetings today including several farm related issues that interest me. I don’t want to miss those. They are not putting them up for later viewing. I am not sure why.
Let’s see. Is it time to give up on teapots? Maybe?
And a Christmas puzzle from the other day.
Best wishes.

Oh Lin, let’s please keep the teapots. I’ve missed them the last couple of days but this snowman makes up for it! Love your latest jigsaw too. I can see Betty and a very tidy George in there. 😄
I’m sorry you’ve had a couple of awful days with funerals and sadness. It really is that sort of year, or have we all just had enough of everything from Covid to politics. Don’t t worry about me sweetheart, it’s the snuffles, I’m convinced.
Horrible wet and of course dark evening but package posted and a couple of extra items bought including long matches that had disappeared off the face of the planet... purchased 2 boxes in case they disappear again!
About to toast a chicken breast for evening meal.
Jackie1 -
As I looked out the 6am bedroom window, it looked pretty cold and covered in a blanket of snow. Drove to Blink and then post office to mail a return package. At Blink, I thought of you guys and all the safety precautions they take… what else? Took a pic.
Yesterday, I had a couple friends ask specifics re: my shrimp lunch so I showed them a few pics, as well. SHRIMP LUNCH (189 cal.) Zucchini / Yellow Squash (Summer), Eggplant, mixed peppers, garlic & herbs riced cauliflower, Red Onion, Organic Raw Shrimp Jumbo, Broccoli, Soy Sauce (splash) and Pompeian - 100% pure Avacado oil spray.
Anne – We got hit with snow too…but not remotely as bad as some areas in the Northeast. Normally we get hit much harder. It was enough for some schools to close – no that they aren’t on alternate schedules anyways with half doing virtual classes. Love the poinsettia…just enough to add to the holiday spirit. You have a point on the hibernation! Thanks for a peak at your reading “likes” LOL
Patsy – I’ll take an emotional / empathetic person any day of the week over the emotionless/refrigerator type. Even regular holidays can be draining as we reminisce about those that have left us (often at comparative young ages) – Covid has only added to the pain. We have not been remotely as confined as some – but still contact has been dramatically reduced. I can count on one hand the number of times we have seen the grandkids this year and they have been growing like crazy. So many annual family events cancelled…from cookouts to holiday parties to birthdays and Sunday dinners. Sending HUGE sympathies your way for your understandable “cabin fever” feelings.
Sandy – Nothing worse than problems in returning items and then credit card disputes. It always seems to take two seconds for a charge to appear, but weeks to get a credit. LOL Fortunately, the item I exchanged today went smoothly – so far. As for the snow storm – it was dangerous driving this morning, but not near the 3 feet Binghamton received.
Nope no Covid exposure. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for next week at it is required. Would prefer the rapid test – but that isn’t to be. Not thrilled it is the 23rd, I just worry about any complications and ending up in the hospital over Christmas (as noted – last time it was on the 4th of July with complications). Argh, what a pain in the…... LOL!!
Those pictures of the kids are AMAZING!!! Love them… they will bring back so many memories down the road. I actually went back to the pictures a 2nd time, just to enjoy !
Lin – I agree with Jackie – keep the teapots (and puzzles). Sorry for the “third online funeral/graveside service in the last few weeks.” While there is never a good time for a funeral…this is a time like no other (for most of us) – I have known several since March and it is SO hard on the families. Under normal circumstances it’s hard to know what to say.
Jackie – You hit it on the head…so many have reached the end of their rope. It’s amazing the psychological changes in some people since Covid kicked-in. Jean and I have held it together for the most part, but it would be a lie to say there aren’t those days when you tell yourself “enough” or ask “why did I say, text or write that?” Oh well, most of the time I am able to compartmentalize and think positive thoughts (I do slip once in a while).
Time to check on Jean etc. Have an awesome afternoon everyone. Bob

Meant to also state -- all those gym items in photo are TOUCHLESS...0

Hello dear sneakers! Partly cloudy after a cold morning rain. But the tiny Christmas tree is doing its best to lighten the mood and bring a cheery afternoon. Must tell you about two wild creatures that seem to be part of our regular crew, so to speak. We have a small barred owl that regularly sits on our deck railing while watching for mice and or moles. She (?) has this wonderful warbling musical hoot that is just a huge treat to hear. Then the crow that sits on the back fence gate is back. This guy raids bird feeders and in general makes a big mess. But he watches us intently and bobs his head up and down as if in greeting. I know a lot of people don’t like crows and owls but....I sort of think they are mysterious and beautiful.
Our son, Damon, is finishing up a lot of work for a couple of new movies. Yea! We might actually see some new movies soon. He still misses his little pal, Runtie. He went to check on his sailboat and button it down for the winter storms. His other doggie, Misky, is trying her best to fill some pretty big shoes. She has never liked the sailboat and refused to go onboard. Strangely now, she gamely tries to accompany Damon even though she finds a safe sheltered spot on deck and waits patiently. Dogs are so much smarter and understanding than we give them credit for.
Lin: the teapots are so much fun. I love all mine and I don’t drink much tea. I often use them as small flower vases. I know that is probably against the tea drinkers rules.
Anne: the bath mat is such a good idea. I have one and the suckers really work. Pulling it up for cleaning will test your strength and agility. I didn’t fall while showering but almost toppled over while pulling up the mat to clean the shower.
Jackie: do take care, my friend. Our daughter says COVID, even the mild case, is not to be taken lightly.
Making baked apples with lots of cinnamon, the fragrance makes me happy!

Happy Thursday!! My meeting seemed to creep up on me before I had time to post. Lisa had texted me to say we are celebrating Christmas with Bryanna tomorrow and I got so excited. Rob was going to make pancakes but I offered to get Outback again as it is our Christmas with his daughter. She will probably be masked and I assume we will also but of course not for eating. I think Lisa is making gingerbread men for all of us to decorate before opening presents. I of course will be going back Saturday for movie night. Busy week ahead so at least it keeps me busy.
Bob, someone sent me that commercial and I of course got all teary eyed. Love of a grandfather is wonderful. When I saw all the snow on the news you were the first person I thought of. Good luck on the test, I don't mind the test itself but I hate the prep. I am not due for another two years thank goodness. Love the touchless bathroom.
Patsy, I would love to have an owl sitting on my balcony, I think they are so beautiful. Crows are another matter but as long as you like them, I am glad they make you happy. Do let us know what movies he is working on when completed so we can see his name in the credits.
Jackie, our weather is dark and gloomy as well. I am glad I didn't have to go anywhere. You could invest in a long lighter instead of matches, that is what use when having to light candles and such. I love that you are being cautious until you get your results. And yes the kiddos are growing much too fast.
Lin, I am sorry you had such a sad week and hope things get better. I love the snowman so maybe post both. lol
Another great puzzle which reminds me I ordered a tall food bowl feeder in wrought iron for Ewok for his birthday and Christmas. I had ordered a plastic one but when I told Rob and Lisa they said he would chew it, so I cancelled and ordered the wrought iron.
Anne, too bad you don't take selfies of you and Jilly, I would have loved to see you both under the covers. Poor Michael with his ears lowered out in the cold. As you know I sent the photos to you in an email. I think I deleted all photos by mistake, sorry.
Barbie, hope all is well.
Almost time for the bike. Have a good evening.

Nothing on the telly so.....
Here we are again. Another quiet day up here. The only excitement being me managing to keep over end as I slithered and slid down the drive to put out the trash can and the blue box. I did cling to the sides of the house on the way back up the long drive. One must look on the bright side, not a mosquito to be seen. Talked to quite a few folk though, especially Mark. He's not sure what to do about Christmas because we are supposed to only have the members of the household giving the Christmas turkey and one other family member. Of course with Michael being in his own household he can go to Marks or I can go to Marks but not both of us. So the logical solution is Marks lot have their own dinner and me and Michael have our own dinner, but maybe have a drive past one of our houses and chuck pressies at each other. It does have its weird side this virus. There is talk of a looming lockdown coming up again.
LIN what a horrible day for you! I've only had Roy's visual funeral to watch and funnily they seem harder to bear than the old social kind. Please don't give up on the teapots unless of course there aren't any more designs. I did manage to see the snowman which I guess was all due to
SANDYs impressive skill. She sent me the photos of her lovely grands.
JACKIE, yes your poor poinsettia was drowned long before she met you. Mines quite dry today so I wonder how much I should water now. Great that Robbie showed up and does that mean Santa won't have any problems in a weeks time?
BOB, I do sympathize with the colonoscopy appointment. I personally would be terrified. As far as I'm concerned anybody who has one is very brave indeed.
And that's it. Sao the Aussie cat is home after his bladder blockage and my cousin is having a terrible time trying to shove pills down his throat and keeping him indoors. He sounds like Brady Jackie. A crocodile Dundee of a cat who's not above tackling the odd snake! I think we all agree this has been the worst year ever. One damn thing after another for EVERYONE, us, pets, politicians, poinsettias, etc.
Keep smiling Sneakers,

And I thought I had read everyone's posts and suddenly I find a whole bunch more!
PATSY, I love owls and crows as well. In fact the latest story I've been working on has both in it. I've had so much fun with the crow character. Oh and when Bill my big white cat died, Miss Becky my rescued from the river puss became very loving. So I'm not a bit surprised by Damons little dogs reaction.
Sorry Sandy for the add on.

It is very peaceful inside my head because I have fewer and fewer opinions about anything but that doesn't give me much to write about. Life here is smooth and peaceful and we are all healthy.
Barbie2 -
Good morning. I have been doing little chores around the house and so many more to work on. I also found some attractive little projects including water coloring, colored pencils and India ink markers. Must not forget to make several birthday cards that need to me mailed just after Christmas.
Back to a morning teapot. No information about it but it looks like a Nativity teapot with the Wise Men.
Our state is opened up again, bars and restaurants back to regular hours and as far as I know, no draconian restrictions on capacity. Just in time for the holidays. Doesn’t matter to me, I have not gone out for years. Just for coffee and not even that in a very long time.
The online meetings were quite interesting. Especially the one by the farm economist describing and summarizing the results from the most recent land survey as well as one on succession planning. I believe the survey revealed 15% of the farmland in this state is owned by women aged 85+. I would have to go back to make certain, but that is close. Not that they are farming it but they control it. Also land values in the area of the state that I have the most interest saw an increase of about 1.8% in the past year. Better than I expected.
The next most interesting was also related to agricultural. Two experts talked about the near-term future of various commodities and the livestock sector. Not much of a surprising when it comes to the expected trend of interest rates which directly influences carry costs.
The meeting on the 1929 fire at the White House was a bit interesting but pretty short on information. The presenter did point out that if he was able to enter the Hoover library that he might have found more details for the presentation but it remains closed. He is missing it.
Another online get together was nothing but interesting talk and lots of Christmas carols. I enjoyed them since I am missing all the Christmas hymns at church.
I also picked up a huge bag load of library books. And had a grocery delivery.
Well, I have nothing interesting so I will stop droning on.
Best wishes everyone.

You never drone on Lin.... your posts are always interesting even when I know nothing of the subject. Gives me something new to contemplate or look into. Mentioning fires, on the way to my hairdresser on Wednesday I drove past a lovely old coach house that I’ve always admired and thought if it wasn’t now located on a busy road I would love to live there. Oh dear, it’s suffered a major fire since the last time I passed and it looks totally destroyed although I did spot scaffolding around it so perhaps it can be saved. That’s a grand teapot with the 3 kings... love it!
A ghastly day of high winds, torrential rain and gloom so I held off walking the dogs for a couple of hours but then, having to get a heavy rubbish bag to the top of the track for collection, together with recycling bags, I took the dogs in the car. The state of the flooded roads should have been a warning but I kept going until we reached our usual car park. Not another car in sight and no wonder. We set off splashing through many inches of surface water and with me getting knocked sideways by the wind until I realised all our usual routes had flood water gushing across from higher ground and although I wore wellies George and Betty were practically swimming in places so I turned back. My 100% waterproof gear gave up as the rain forced itself into seams and I was reminded of something explorer Ranulph Fiennes once said about there being no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. Haha, I don’t think appropriate clothing exists for today’s storm!
I particularly love owls and am lucky to have 2 local tawny owls that fly through our trees at night so I often hear them cooing to each other as I stand outside for the dogs last garden is it. My understanding is Crows are highly intelligent so am sure Patsy’s would have something very interesting to say.
Paused to investigate a loud bang that shook the cottage walls and set the dogs barking but can’t see much if anything outside as it’s now dark. Hopefully nothing untoward going on.
Oops, only 6% power left so need to plug in and recharge.... that’s my iPad, not me!
I’ll be back.

Happy Friday! Doing laundry, then I have to wrap some presents as we are celebrating Christmas with Bryanna later. I am going to order food from Outback once again as she deserves a nice dinner for Christmas. I don't know where the time goes each day but it certainly does fly. I still want to try and ride my bike so I will just say enjoy our day and stay safe.
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
Quick morning – had my pre-colonoscopy Covid test at 7am… no big deal. It did throw off my gym and by the looks of things Blink won’t happen today. It is so late, I am just not in the mood.
Jean has a holiday sleep-over with a few close “girls only” family members. It is an annual thing at Christmas time and will be a VERY scaled down version with protocols in effect. A few cannot attend simply because of co-morbidity issues etc.
So I am planning my evening… I pretty much didn’t eat anything today – but know exactly what I am having. Brought Jean some flowers when I was out gathering my dinner needs. She laughed and said it looked like I was going to have a good time. I told her just a nice romantic dinner for one. LOL – If I get a chance will post a photo. Not sure what room I will eat in. The dining room table is covered end-to-end with wrapped presents for the kids etc.
Anne – You’re too cute. Colonoscopy doesn’t really enter my mind… I only worry about the anesthesia with old memories of Strong Memorial stopping an ablation attempt because they couldn’t control my blood pressure. But actually that is also in one of my “compartments” I keep on the shelf.
Glad you were able to keep over-end while sliding down the drive. We saw a video of a person this week slip-sliding and falling down a dozen times and while I laugh, it can be so dangerous. A few years back it happened to me in a parking lot. It wasn’t until I got home I noticed my leg was bleeding. Be careful!!!
Sounds like your solution for Marks to have their own dinner and you/Michael have your own dinner is indeed logical. So much to take into all these various situations.
Lin – What a great Nativity teapot – never saw anything like it. Congrats on your state with regards to bars/restaurants being back to reg. hrs without draconian restrictions… In the suburbs where I live restaurants are opened, but all rules apply re: numbers etc. It’s far worse a few miles away in the city where restaurants were again closed down.
I chuckled a bit when reading “survey revealed 15% of the farmland in this state is owned by women aged 85+” – that’s because all us guys are dead. LOL. Jean will sometimes see two very mature ladies walking down the street and say “there goes me and Fran (her 50 yr BFF) – I usually comment on my accommodations at the local cemetery but tell her I hope she has fun and to “party-on.”
Jackie – “High winds, torrential rain and gloom” sounds like a good opening for a movie, but not enjoying the day. You never seem to stop working and taking care of the dogs. Now you have me looking up Ranulph Fiennes (my education continues)… I have probably come across his exploits or writings but it just doesn’t ring a bell right now.
Just as I read “only 6% power left so need to plug in and recharge” I started to think of my attempt at humor reply and then you explained… “that’s my iPad, not me!”
Sandy – Every time you mention doing laundry, I am reminded how lucky I am to be married to someone that loves doing it. I am not averse to doing laundry – but that is Jean’s domain and I know for a fact my help is not what she wants… similar to when I grocery shop or cook LOL. Whoa – Outback dinner sounds awesome! Enjoy the evening!
Hope everyone stays healthy and safe! Bob

Hello. Glub, glub, heavy rain! Cold heavy rain! Today is a small grooming session for Katie and we will plan a Christmas photo of John, Katie and me—2020! In a way, I will always remember this year with huge mixed feelings. Grateful that we all survived. I do miss our adorable Buzz. She used to email me the most outrageous political cartoons. She had a wicked sense of humor. She loved all the sneakers as her internet family. She will always be with us, expecting something wonderful is about to happen.
Anne: I know how you feel about Christmas but please , above all do the safe thing. We understand your dilemma. John and I will be alone this year. Like thanksgiving but we will have constant phone calls with our son and maybe our daughter. With Andrea, you never know. She is recovering nicely! She is getting cranky again. She is returning to normal. Ahahaha! John and I will have a Christmas dinner, maybe play a card or board game. We plan on watching the original Christmas Carol with George C. Scott. Then we will end the night with dessert and wine. There will be intermittent phone calls. We will remember Christmas 2020 as the year we realize once again how important family and friends are.
Sandy: what a lovely thing to have a special Christmas with Bryanna. I remember her from some photos you shared. She is gorgeous. You are a delightful gram and I know your grandchildren adore you. Your thoughtfulness is an object lesson to me....I need to watch how Sandy takes care of her family.
Lin: I was shocked to hear everything is opening back up where you live! Why? Aren’t things still spiking there? Glad to hear you plan on remaining as isolated as necessary. Please stay safe, my friend. I admit internet meetings are easier to tolerate than in person meetings. I usually get a wiggly and need to fiddle with something. I must make a cup of tea or let Katie in or out. My concentration skills are limited to short periods of time.

Jean is off to her sleep-over leaving me alone to fend for myself. LOL. I was able to scrape some food together for dinner. Here is a pic as prev promised – sending it to Jean as a joke that I am “ok” and hope she is having fun…. Time to finish dinner and pick a movie! Nite to all! Bob

About to go to bed and sounds quiet outside so the storm must have passed. So much Covid talk on our news I find after 5 minutes I need to switch off. Our Boris doesn’t want to be called The Grinch who stole Christmas so instead it seems everyone can have a jolly, social time for 5 days then we will probably have to go back to national lockdown as more folk die (Sigh!).
A friend suggested we meet at a local restaurant for brunch next week along with another friend and her two young daughters. I felt bad to turn down the idea but reminded her we aren’t supposed to mix generations and bubbles and after all these months being careful why take risks now, especially since the highest percentage of infections is among 5 to 29 year olds. Point taken and we’ll wait to see how things pan out in the New Year.
Just finished watching a sad movie about Oscar Wilde’s last few years in exile after he got out of prison. How times and attitudes have changed but it took until 2017 for him to receive a posthumous pardon.
Seeing Bob’s delicious meal this evening I meant to ask a silly question the other day. The frozen shrimps.... do you make your own sauce or are they Bought cooked and frozen in a sauce? I buy packs of raw and am always looking for different recipes.
I had several far more interesting subjects to write about but whoosh, gone from my head so bed it is.

Church bells ringing in the parish, the sun is shining and ground beginning to dry out.
We’ve walked locally and I’ve finished my mid morning coffee so time to muck out the hens... it’s Saturday!
I hope everyone enjoys the weekend but just read social media “nutters” predict the end of the world on Monday, the Winter Solstice so make the most! 🤪😅😂🤣

The postie just delivered 2 packages, a Christmas gift I know will contain doggie treats but the other, oh joy, my biannual bowel cancer screening test. Saves undergoing a colonoscopy if results negative. Don’t read instructions on pack while eating breakfast! 🥴
Only posting because the subject was discussed yesterday!

From Anne
Sunday morning early
Hello Sneakers this is going to be blessedly short and sweet because on a dark and gloomy morning we crawled out of bed later than normal and I have to assemble a meat pie in case the wandering boy drops by.
But two things. I had a wonderful girlfriend way back when we were sweet 16. Actually, the most beautiful girl I have ever met. We had so much fun and got into all sorts of mischief both at work where we met and outside of work. Amazed we didn't get the old heave o. Anyway at 21 she got married and took off for the south of England and I got married and took off for the midlands. We never totally lost touch but this year she sent me an almost ineligible email address and I replied without much hope BUT I got an email last night, and now at 86 and 85 we are reunited! Isn't that great. Her big moan BARBIE she's had to give up her dance class because of the virus. Which brings me to the second subject.
All the Ontario bigwigs are meeting today. With locking down the hot virus spots in Toronto everyone living there flocked to the rest of our stores to buy their Christmas turkeys etc. So rumour has it we are ALL to be in lockdown from Boxing Day on! Which means my eldest will be out of work again I guess. Oh joy! This goes for Quebec as well.
Lastly, Hobbes the giant cat has stopped trying to jump on Mark and lick his stitches when in bed. He's being a good boy for Santa I think. All Bean wants for Christmas is walkies and I wouldn't say no to two replacement molars in my recent gap.
Cheers everyone, off to cook we go,
Anne.0 -
Happy Saturday! Our Christmas celebration with Bryanna was wonderful, I really miss that young lady, soon to be 26. The kiddos opened presents from Bryanna and the happy nappers I gave them. The nappers were a hit as well as the gifts Bryanna bought except Robby had a meltdown because he loved what Max got from her so she went back to Target and got him one as well. His meltdowns are hard to watch but hopefully they will get them under control with the help of his doctors. We did watch the Grinch which I had never seen and tonight is another movie night. The napper I got Robby was a little small so I checked with Amazon and they had a large that should be delivered Tuesday. Then I will return the one I gave him to Target. Aren't the holidays fun???
Anne, our numbers are going down but still no indoor dining and I personally think the dining outdoors is just like being indoors since it is all enclosed. The only one I saw that I liked was a little hut for four people. Congratulations on your reunion with your friend. I try googling old friends but still can't find them. Can't Mike work from home during the shutdown?? And thanks for the laugh about your molars.
Lin, I agree, Jackie should get the hens a wreath for their hen house, your picture is great. I also like the M&M teapot, so cute.
Jackie, I actually would like one of those tests but because of my mom having colon cancer they insist on the colonoscopy. I think if the at home test were negative that should be enough, but I am no doctor. Sounds like it would be a pleasant walk with the church bells ringing and maybe a sign the end of the world is not coming on Monday.
Bob, you are so funny, making a romantic dinner for one while Jean is playing with her friends. Beautiful place setting with the candle and wine as a bonus. So the test wasn't as bad as expected, that is good news.
Patsy, you don't need to watch me when you are perfect with your family. These are hard times and we all manage the best we can. As I told Bryanna I can't wait for the day we can get together more often and hug, hug, hug.
Barbie, I love your serenity.
Have a great day my friends.

Good afternoon. I have chased down the two odd transactions in my credit card account. Meanwhile, I also sorted through everything in my Google account and my Gmail account as well. I finally talked to the credit card company and they told me just to keep an eye on charges over the next week. Many vendors are using payment systems from large vendors such as Amazon, Apple and Google. So, while you haven’t directly made a purchase with any of them, it will be more common to see these names on the charges. Making it more difficult to track if the actual store/vendor is not shown.
I did some online banking while I was circling around the Internet. 🤪
Last night I watched a special program presented by a scaled back symphony orchestra and it was lovely! Also started to watch a presentation of soul/jazz music but I did not like it a bit so left for the orchestra. Then chimed in late for the end of The Nutcracker ballet. Nice evening. Which I needed after two hours of chopping ice and throwing it off the driveway and sidewalks. Ouch! Heavy, heavy, too heavy! My shoulder howled all night.
This morning I watched, while working on the online issues, a PBS presentation online of Peter and the Wolf. It was a charming ballet.
And then my usual Saturday morning live stream show. And wow, she read my contribution to the Q&A! Woo-hoo. That meant I won a prize. I never win prizes. I was quite happy. I have already written to them with my choice of reward! ❤️
This morning a friend contacted me with the sad news that her young great granddaughter is having pre-eclampsia? Not certain I spelled that right. She may have to be induced this weekend. All sorts of things can go wrong for the mom. Praying for that family.
Jackie, is your sniffly nose all better now? How long before you receive a result? I agree with you, no need to break into different groups for the holiday. I gather there is a lot of blowback on Boris for trying to avoid being a Grinch. Does seem odd.
Same with this state, while I mentioned our governor removed the close early mandates for bars and restaurants I did not say I was in favor of it. She never did want to close things down and I understand we will not have any retail or entertainment left if this goes on. But she was threatened with a huge lawsuit from the bar/restaurant owners to prove they were responsible for the increased transmission. Show us the numbers, prove it. So State government backed off. Our state has cut way back on testing again, governor says we don’t have the money to continue with this and pay for the distribution of vaccine, etc. I smell higher taxes coming. Meanwhile, you can’t stop swimming mid-stream. The data reported by the state continues to be more and more disordered, contact tracing continues to be a joke. That is all for today.
So bah humbug.🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻 I need a Grinch emoji right?
Bob, well, so you made a special evening for yourself to what, make Jean jealous of what she missed? Love the placemat. I have been on my own for so long I don’t bother to even excavate out a special lovely glass and plate any longer. I would likely drop it when I washed the dishes. 🙃. How was the movie?
Sandy, what a great celebration last night. And movie night this evening. Sorry some things need to be exchanged/returned. What is on the menu tonight? Do you ever have just movie/snack food?
Anne, okay, you had me with reading Sunday, but honest, it is Saturday. How wonderful that you connected with an old friend. That is just astounding. I hope you are able to keep in touch now. Woo-hoo! I searched some years ago for a friend from junior high and found her on Facebook but she would not respond to a message I sent her. Well, I tried. Didn’t recognize the name or didn’t ever look at the folder with messages from non- friends.
Patsy, are you having better weather today? We were dreary, cold and overcast this morning but now the sun is out but the temperature is not increasing much at all. Do you have your menu planned and shopped for for your Christmas feast?
We had some people’s fighting on Facebook about mail delivery. Well, there are always people fighting on Facebook, at least this was not as political. Anyway, our local distribution hub was mentioned and my ears picked up. The USPS has brought in additional semi trailers to hold the excess mail they are unable to process as it won’t fit in the building. Okay, this is a mess! I have several invoices due before the end of the year. They don’t take credit card online payments and one invoice is still out there in the USPS system somewhere. I would hate to lose my LTC policy for non-payment! I put my check in the mail for my Med Supp quarterly payment. That only goes to the city (I am in the suburb) so that should arrive. Will do what I can I guess.
Barbie, hi, enjoy your day. Waving to Jeri and Diane as well.

Quiet day… gym and back home. Jean returned late morning tired from games and staying up with “the girls.” She had a great time and won a couple prizes. No real meals planned for today. Going to scarf as needed. LOL
Last night I found a photo from years ago on a flash drive I thought I intentionally deleted. I know I cut my Orca-size self out of the one that was printed. I so hated being that fat… could be worse… 4 of the people in the photo (red dot) have since passed.
Jackie – I have found myself doing the same thing with regards to Covid and too much negative news etc. I stay informed, but there is only so much before I tell myself I want in my brain before I say “enough.” As for Oscar Wilde… we say it just about every day how times & attitudes have changed…some for the better and some not.
When it comes to shrimp, I always buy raw – sometimes fresh and usually frozen. Always plain, never in any sauce…
I have eliminated almost all sugar from my diet since May 13, 2019. So even when I just do cocktail sauce I utilize Heinz Tomato Ketchup Reduced Sugar with fresh horseradish. When I have it as a meal I pretty much play around using small amounts of extra-virgin olive oil, lemon, butter, fresh ground salt and/or pepper… other ingredients I sometimes mix in are balsamic vinegar, spring onions, garlic and Parmesan cheese, fresh basil or cilantro….
I pretty much eat a low carb diet and weigh everything. It isn’t a chore for me as I love doing it and seeing how satiating I can make a meal and control portions. I never get hungry. I don’t avoid fats per se but try to stick with “healthy fats.” I don’t eat “diet” food and only eat what I like…otherwise it would be a diet and not lifestyle change. Hope this helps.
Love the pic and comment on “church bells.” I miss the old days when church bells rang out on Sundays… now it’s just an isolated occurrence around here. Seeing the Star of Bethlehem with its first alignment of Saturn and Jupiter in 800 YEARS does intrigue me. I have a feeling I won’t see much in the sky and will need to catch it on the TV. They won’t be this close again until 2080 and I am pretty sure I won’t be here. LOL.
Lin – I have a niece that would love a teapot like that… she has M&M everything!
Sandy – Glad you had a wonderful celebration with Bryanna and I think all of us would like to be 26 again. And now you have me singing to myself – “You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch. You really are a heel. You're as cuddly as a cactus, You're as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch…” Have fun with tonights movie!
So you liked the romantic dinner for 1… I do enjoy making Jean laugh. Normally, I would be at a different table…but there wasn’t room for me – see pic. LOL.
My sister had sent a pic of herself and Jean slouched on a couch in PJ’s – so I photo-shopped them into a nursing home for seniors with appropriate captions and posted it on social media… she responded “You’re dead.” She is the best you could ever ask for in a sister and I mean that…God didn’t make a more giving/caring/heart-filled sibling.
As for the Covid test, it was indeed a piece of cake. Can’t wait to get Wed over with. I picked up my Rx and the doctor ordered that “gallon” sized prep drink vs. the newer lower volume cleanse. Most likely an insurance thing. Oh well – ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Speaking of “gotta’s” Jean has come into the room twice to show me things that in husband language means she needs someone to play with… so heading downstairs now.
Enjoy the evening everyone. Bob
