Well I can't get onto my home page or the food and exercise diaries. I have no idea why this is so.
But I'm here and we had quite a busy morning. My groceries came and then Mark. He brought the old bathroom faucet tap back to reinsert after de liming it overnight. It was dribbling before and I couldn't use the shower at all. There is some talk of my ancient bath being ripped out and just a stand up shower put in. A new stall. I do hope I get this because it means I'll be able to sit on a stool and wash the feet more easily. A lot of adaptation going on here for elderly living! Because whilst he was here I went online and ordered a magnifying makeup mirror and oven mitts to replace really old ones, and bless him, he went to the store for curb side pickup. Not sure I like what I see in the mirror though!
They came over last evening as well to pick up the dribbling faucet and we did a little gardening. Mainly cutting back dead flower stems. Much hilarity next door from the new folks in their garden but we had no idea what was being said of course. Only the appearance of one of the late and unlamented Harry's mosquitos had us scuttling back inside, but the garden looks a little tidier. So you see I am being looked after like a prize bovine in a cattle show. Ive almost forgotten what its like to go to a store to simply pick up oven mitts for instance.
I think we are all adapting to this new lifestyle pretty well.
Hate to say this PATSY but I am off to make myself a nice cup of coffee and get back to reading a new book Mary Jo brought over. American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. Its rather horrifying what the heroine and her small son go through in Mexico with the drug lords. I will never complain again! Not a book to read if you are in a morose state of mind. Otherwise a compelling read.
Love to all, Anne and Jilly who is in seventh heaven with her next favourite people coming over frequently.

Hello friends. Wind and rain against my bedroom window woke me this morning and it’s been cold all day. Last night when I went to bed I did my best to organise George and Betty…. George, you lie bottom right by my feet, Betty up by the pillow top right. That left me a whole one side of my bed but just as I turned the light out, up jumped Brady to my left against my legs so trapped again! I managed to sleep well, mostly because I had researched allotments online and found a government act from 1922 that stipulates no one on a local council can be a member of an allotment association committee. It’s the law to avoid conflict of interest so my adversary will have to resign! Just have to decide on the best way to impart this information!
I wasn’t in any hurry to walk in pouring rain so watched some Olympics events then phoned the lady I’ve been supporting to give her the good news. Soon after I received a phone call from the lady that wants me to adopt her hens and I’ve agreed to collect them tomorrow. By then the weather had brightened up so we walked to the field surrounding the old Quoit and soon after we got home another call, this time FaceTime from my friend that lives in Tewkesbury. I gave her a virtual tour of my decorated snug and also the spare room I struggle to enter because of extra stored furniture, boxes and linen. We’ve made a plan for her to visit for a week in September so hopefully I’ll be straight by then. A short shopping trip for dog treats, paint and vet supplies then home for a cuppa!
Our numbers have depleted but I still love to check in every day to check what you’ve all been doing and know we remain safe.
Patsy, my friend and I compared notes on our lethargy and came to the conclusion 18 months of lockdowns and negative news has taken its toll on both of us so even planning meals has become a chore. I did make a delicious soya mince chilli a couple of days ago and have a couple of what you know as zucchini the size of torpedoes waiting to be turned into vegetable korma curry but feel I have lost my mojo in my kitchen. Smokey air would finish me too, especially if I had to go without strong black coffee.
Lin, so many teapots from Stoke on Trent potteries just proves what an amazing industry has been lost to cheap Chinese alternatives. The cobalt blue and gold is stunning.
Sandy, yes you did mention your son was moving closer to you when talk of you maybe going to Florida popped up. I think we do quieten down during summer months but of course we’ve lost Marie and Buzz which is so sad and they both contributed so much. They will never be forgotten will they. ❤️
You’re right about the cuddling pets because they push against me for warmth as I don’t sleep in a heated bedroom!
I’ve been watching skateboarding at the Olympics this evening and think the commentators talk a foreign language about nose grinders, backside flips and epic hippy jumps…. I’m getting old and starting to sound like my grandmother! 🙄
Take care and keep safe. The damn virus isn’t leaving us just yet!

Hello, I think I mentioned it is my busy season gathering information for renewing the farm lease. I have to call back on the 12th so am listening to landowner zoom meetings and researching rental rates. So I will not be doing anything interesting enough to share.
I did make my Thursday morning call to my friend today. We talked for a long time as she will have her grandson visiting next week and we will be skipping our call.
This afternoon I had a long conversation with another friend. We hadn’t spoken for quite a while. I called her to ask some questions about the party her son is hosting later this month. He is a friend of mine but I am uncomfortable in attending. She said he doesn’t want any gifts. The party is a combo celebration of his bachelor’s degree which he has completed one class at a time as he worked and a monumental birthday ending in a ‘0’! So I guess I will be making a card. Must put on my thinking cap.
I have lots of projects in the works and I hope to check all of my deposit accounts to see if text Alerts can be added for any withdrawals. Once upon a time I added some alerts but I am not sure if I hit all accounts. Better safe than sorry.
Jackie, thanks for the additional info about the choice of user name. Makes more sense now! What a busy day you’ve had. My gosh. But what wonderful news that the gent must go. Now, how to swiftly and efficiently notify him and toss him out. Ha-ha! Good news. We had a little rain but the temperatures are increasing again with 90’s F. Sweaty weather. When you said your friend would visit in September, I thought, well, that’s a long time, but it isn’t really is it?
Anne, well you are not left on your own. Wonderful. And Jilly gets company if not lots of long walks. A new shower stall would be just the ticket. I have a built-in shower with a seat in the corner. The seat is molded right into it. Nice but I don’t actually sit on it. I put one foot at a time up on it and scrub legs and tootsies. It is great. I hope you do get the shower. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Patsy, when does Katie have this annual physical you mentioned? Yes, we must try to be careful. I did 3 errands yesterday and all three establishments had a sign on the door to wear a mask when entering. I was out early so there were no crowds. This is certainly an endurance event and not a sprint. Covid continues to bedevil us. I quite regularly speak to friends on the phone but actually seeing friends, well, that doesn’t happen. I have had 2 people stop by my house to drop off something for me. Yes, 2 in the last what, a year and a half. I speak to any neighbor who is out getting mail at the same time I am but overall, I have been in solitary confinement. Luckily it usually doesn’t bother me but sometimes it does. I did ask a friend to go for a walk but she said no, she didn’t want to walk inside the mall. Oh well, someday things will change.
Sandy, another bouncing around busy day! Yes, I am busy but really nothing fun. So your son and girlfriend are moving. Wow. Lots of moving news. I heard from a friend yesterday and she is packing up lock, stock, and barrel leaving this Midwest state where she was born to live in Florida. She is retired now and decided to make a leap to an area where I believe she has vacationed several times. But this is it, moving everything and not looking back. She will be in Sarasota County and recently vacationed there. I think she purchased a house or condo. She is out of here in one short month. Her adult daughter is also moving on but hasn’t made a final decision on exactly where but in North Carolina. People are just leaping all over the country. Anyway, I hope your son will love the new location.
As far as not many posts, Bob has been gone for a while but we haven’t seen Barbie for a long time, Connie either and Jeri not often and Diane just once in a while. I still miss hearing from Phoebe, Shirley and Judy (her birthday today). That was a long time ago though wasn’t it.
Well, need to move along. I have another Zoom call tomorrow morning, earlier than usual.
Be well everyone.

Oh no! We seem to be having some internet hiccups everywhere. We are fine here. We had a small shower last night. So welcome! Our big wildfire is getting under control. Now we will watch and wait for things to come back to life. In an appropriate amount of time, replanting of trees will happen.
I do have a big affection for the sneakers. I hope we can get Anne back online. There is always a draggy period. For me it is usually august and March. These are “shoulder” months. I am usually yearning for either cooler weather inAugust and warmer-sunnier weather in March. I am a true wimp.
Stay safe, wear your mask, drink lots of water, social distance, stay away from crowds. With all that sage advice, know that you mean the world to me!

The only reason I’m currently tending to post later in the day is because early morning in England is evening in Tokyo so I become immersed in Equestrian, Diving, Athletics and the bicycle race velodrome. Before I know it I’m walking late morning just before lunch. Normal service will resume when the flame is extinguished.
Heavy rain showers on and off today so of course our walk was misjudged and although we set off in sunshine, I became aware of dark clouds heading in our direction and frog marched the pooches back home…. Too late!
More time has been spent responding to yet another email from our officious friend at the allotments and I must admit mine are becoming more pointed although I’m guessing it’s water off a Duck’s back. Rather than tell him he should resign I have pointed him towards that piece of government legislation.
The long process of sticking masking tape everywhere in the dining room has begun and I’ve hung the first picture in the snug. I bought it in Toronto in the mid 70’s from a young man called Neilson who was taking his art round the offices in the high rise I worked in.
The lady I was to collect hens from today phoned late afternoon to tell me she had only now finished her over the phone interview so since it’s a cool and wet evening we agreed I will collect them tomorrow after walking. That way they will have more time to introduce themselves through the net fence I will hang down the middle.
Things do tend to be quieter this time of year on the forum. Just wait until we are all sitting in our cosy homes commenting on cold temperatures, rain and snow outdoors because we aren’t inclined to go out!
A crinoline lady in her cottage garden Lin! Can you imagine tending to your tomatoes wearing a huge bustle. My fruit would be knocked to the ground in no time! 😄
Let’s hope Anne can work her way back to us minus all the Ads and invitations.
Time to prepare an evening meal… smoked mackerel with allotment new potatoes and green salad.
Sandy, I will try to be brave enough to weigh in the morning! 😬
Happy Friday.

Hello. Hour after hour of Zoom meetings today. I am worn out from taking notes.
After the last meeting I went outside and I found some digging around my front step. I called my handyman and he hopes to stop by later. He thinks it is a chipmunk/ground squirrel making the mess. He doesn’t think it is more wasps. Ugh.
So far the information I have heard doesn’t give a clear indication of what type of offer to make regarding rent next year. Onward to next weeks meetings.
Looks like I will have to water a bit this evening as the veggies are wilting.
I wrote a very long post yesterday and have little to add so, be safe everyone.
Jackie, this guy is not going to be easy to oust from power! I hope the new hens settle in quickly.
Patsy, I hope the fires are more under control each day.
Sandy, I have forgotten what you are doing this weekend.
Anne, I hope you are back soon.
Best wishes to all.

Happy Saturday! It is going to be hot and muggy here so I am going to pool for a couple of hours before getting ready for movie night at Lisa and Rob's with her parents. It will be indoors so shouldn't be a late night. Ran errands yesterday since weather was iffy for pool. I had my car washed to get rid of bugs but ended up having to get them off myself since the car wash didn't do the job. The only problem with a road trip.
Met my goal today so had to post it before I gain again. Who knows what we will be eating today or tomorrow at my brother's birthday celebration. Not really comfortable going there with them being unvaccinated but hopefully it will be outside and I will remember to bring my mask this time. I don't think I will stay long because of these reasons.
Jackie, your allotment guy sounds like a real jerk. He may not be easy to get removed but if anyone can you can so good luck. I hope your new chickens get along with the other chickens in a short amount of time. You are kind to take them in. I do hope once you are done you will be posting pictures of your finished home.
Lin, it must be difficult renting out a farm for planting, I wouldn't even know where to begin. How long are their leases, mine seems to increase each time I renew. How many acres are you talking about?? Good luck I am sure you will figure this all out by the time the lease is renewed.
Patsy, I will send Anne emails of our postings like I have done in the past so she doesn't miss out on anything.
Time to eat and get ready for pool. Have a great day and stay safe.

Hazy and cloudy this morning. It is cool however…nice! I wonder if we are to get an early autumn? It sort of feels like it might but I have not read any predictions on that. So much fear and apocalyptic rants. I can’t help but feel we will be attending to Mother Earth with more care.
Since we still need to curtail our activities, I am going into deep cleaning. Washing curtains, shampooing the carpet. I couldn’t find a rug cleaning service that didn’t use pretty strong chemicals. I think Katie, John and I need to use mild cleansing products. We all love our allergies! Anyway, I will go at it with an easy but constant pace. It will feel nice to have things refreshed for the coming fall and autumn. Not sure about a lockdown. Our bank just closed 2 of their branches and they now only offer drive up again. They state staff illness and reduced employee numbers. Eeeek! We are lucky our banking is pretty simple.
I had a very perplexing wedding invitation. My great nephew is finally getting officially married. He has lived with this lady for 2 years and they have a little 2 year old girl. They bought a house a year ago. Now about the wedding. The invitation included information on where and how to add to their honeymoon fund! Something about this feels strange. Is this a new thing? Is it kind of like in that movie, My Big, Fat Greek Wedding? I am out of touch and totally clueless.
Lin: your tea pot photos are a treat. I love them all. Especially the ones with funny animals. As far as the forum goes…yes I do miss those people who have moved on. I also love the small forums because I get to know everyone so well. It feels and is like family to me. I always feel happy to include a new family member. There are times when I wonder about their lives now. Wish them all well and I think the welcome mat is still out on the doorstep.
Sandy: with all your activities, I am so glad you are being careful. This variant is mean! I will be getting a booster shot when it is available for me. Might be months from now however.
Hello to all sneakers out there….be safe and stay healthy.

Torrential rain this morning so because I was up just after 7am I made coffee and curled up to watch more Olympics. A short walk with the pooches later then I drove to the lady with the hens and after a long chat collected the hens, popped them in a cat carrier and brought them home. Plastic netting across the middle of the run worked to keep them apart from my 2 and Storm and most of the time they ignored each other so I won’t wait too long before letting them mix. They are the same breed but new girls Lupin and Bluebell are larger but very sweet and gentle, so far! They wouldn’t let me catch them tonight to put them in the hen house with the others so I created a shelter with a tarpaulin sheet over a small area in the run and left them alone to hopefully go in when it got dark.
One of my new hips has become painful and I’m hoping it’s no more than the wet weather because I need to get back to decorating.
My neighbours Debs and Louise are back from their canal boat holiday tomorrow so I assume their home sitting friends will leave. I’ve heard them a couple of times in the garden but only seen them once through the kitchen window when we waved to each other. Unsettled weather usually means I don’t see so many neighbours or dog walkers and life becomes even more quiet. A good time to get on with decorating if I can motivate myself.
I fell asleep in the middle of typing so had better get to sleep.

Hello, a busy day! I think I now have all my online banking alerts set and verified. In some cases the options weren’t exactly what I had in mind but I did my best.
I enjoyed the Facebook Live get together this morning and I have 2 of the needed August birthday cards partially completed. Just need to find what sentiment I want to add inside. I also finished stamping the first step on a Christmas card design. I will be moving on to stenciling next. I tried one idea and ruined one of my starts. Ooops. I had best not do that again.
Patsy, that wedding invitation is a bit odd but as far as a gift is concerned, I say do what you are comfortable doing. It is accommodating to give people what they want which is why wedding registries have been around for so long but people do not limit their giving to just a list or a demand from the couple. If they aren’t happy, too bad. Right?
Sandy, it was supposed to be very hot and muggy here as well but it clouded over early and the hot temperature did not arrive. It is only around 80 degrees F now, not 90. I hope you enjoyed your time at the pool. I will just say the lease is annual, at their request, I was hoping we could just do 2 or even 3 years at a time. They are not willing to lock in a rental rate for longer than one crop season. I will just say the income is important to me so I try to do my best in working out the rate. I have been relatively unhappy the last several years with the result. I hope this year is better. Enjoy movie night. Best wishes on getting together with people who are not vaccinated.

Happy Sunday! Although I am not thrilled with going to my brother's celebration I am going because you never know if it will be his last. I will remember my mask today just in case we are indoors but hoping we will be outside.
He loved his shirt and will be wearing it, so that makes me happy. I also got him some mega million tickets, who knows maybe he will be lucky.
I have a video call with family at 12:30 and will leave here around 1:00 or so. I am not planning on staying too long mostly because of them being unvaccinated. I will be careful and keep my distance.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning dears! Sunday morning and the sun is shinning. I think our showers cleaned the air but the heat is returning this week? Yesterday and Friday we had off and on rain. It was cool and cloudy all day…both days. Not sure what this day will bring. I know the town is still full of tourists so I guess my thoughts of getting out and about should be set aside.
This is a sailing day for our Damon. We will have our chat tomorrow instead our usual Sunday chat. Regular visits with our kids keep me sane. I must drive John nuts with my constant chatter and constant music. About that strange wedding invitation, I think Lin has the most sensible idea. I will ignore the honeymoon fund and do my usual thing. A card, note and a check with my good wishes. DONE!
I hope we are all being safe and careful. The news is scary and confusing. One headline contradicts the next. The experts have no idea! We are all just guessing. So only clear choice is to be careful and avoid risky social gatherings whenever possible. Masks!
Toward that end, I am ordering a few new novels to keep me quiet and entertained. My projects and refreshing of our home is slow going but i do need a break from time to time. I love chatting with you sneakers. I hope we all will have a spare moment to drop in to chat. We are an interesting diverse little group. One new project is to learn how copy and send our chats to Anne. I don’t do Facebook, even though it sounds like it would be fun.
Katie needs a good brushing. A rather constant condition for her. I will try to dream up a Sunday dinner that interests John but has a lower calorie option for me. You can see meals are a challenge for us. Also an exercise session in my dungeon at my ballet bar. Sunday baroque and a phone chat with our daughter, Andrea are on for today as well.
A hug, and a virtual cheek kiss to all you sweet sneakers!

Hello friends. We had an overcast morning after a bit of rain overnight. Just a bit of rain as I see I will have to water the wilting plant containers this evening. I did attend online church this morning. It was a short message and truthfully I did not come away with a memorable scripture or lesson. I wonder if it is my brain or if there really was not much content? I will need to pay attention next week and evaluate me!
I cooked green beans and ate them with fresh tomatoes. I am not keeping up with the tomatoes I have picked. But I am enjoying them. I don’t think I will have any watermelons or winter squash. The ground squirrels are after them! Eeeck.
I watched the Val Kilmer documentary film as I worked slowly on stenciling. It looks like it will take about 3 additional days to work through the stack. This bright red is just deadly. One little mistake and I am less than happy. Red where I do not want it on white is not really fixable. The little points where the leaves of the poinsettia come together are very troublesome points for ink leakage. I am using stencil spray and removable tape to try to hold everything in place but a lot of pressure is needed to try to hold the small parts of the stencil in place. Any amount of shifting is bad!
So if I ever finish this step, I should figure out how many more processes are involved to finish the front of a card. Or maybe I shouldn’t. I could become quite morose about the amount of work yet to come.
Sandy, I hope you have had a good but safe day.
Patsy, I don’t know if everyone is being safe out there. I am safe right now. A friend and her husband have two grandchildren coming soon for a visit. Their father is driving them down from Wisconsin. The children are too young to be vaccinated but everyone is going to take a Covid test to assure that no one is ill. Very good idea. Another friend just went to a high school class reunion. She is vaccinated but the classmates she was around all of this weekend, not likely. So I don’t think she was very safe sitting in a bar with a bunch of people she hasn’t seen in years. Everyone is making their own decisions.
Well, I just twisted my shoulder. Has anyone done something wonky to a joint and you end up nauseated with the pain? That is me this afternoon. Ack.
Well, off I go. Please take care.

The hens are doing just fine so I removed the partition fence to allow them to mingle. A couple of squabbles but nothing serious and tonight I managed to get them all into the hen house without getting pecked.
It seems I’m always posting at bedtime. A full day, including a long walk, when dressed in waterproofs and even a hat, we managed to climb trails and not get too wet. Along the way I stopped to chat to a dog walker I hadn’t seen since before Covid whose little pug was having problems with her back legs so fell over a couple of times. He said he had the best vet who was doing his best to try everything available to solve the issue. It also turns out he has endured a similar renovation nightmare as me because nothing had been done to his property that he bought just before Covid, in 70 years. I now feel I was not alone!
It turned into a sunny afternoon so of course, rather than stay in with the masking tape I managed some more gardening. The recent rain has everything growing at a rapid rate including a few brambles where they don’t belong.
When I had made my afternoon cup of tea I phoned my old school friend Anne and we talked for over 2 hours. Afterwards I sent her a photo of the snug that has the plum velvet wall that I’m not too sure about but she replied she loves it.
I have to say I am getting to slowly like it too.
Not just Covid to be dealing with but dire warnings about climate change. Several British firefighters have been sent to Greece to help to clear the wild fires.
Just woke up having nodded off so must get to bed!

Happy Monday! My brother's 88th birthday was a success. Most were vaccinated and I stayed downstairs with my brother away from those who weren't. He looks good but sleeps a lot, I was grateful to have been with him on his birthday. Lot's of rain here so I am just staying in and doing nothing. Going to try to figure out how to add my cable wire to my living room TV which will be a chore if I can figure it out. If not I am going to try to hire someone to do it since it consists of putting the cable under the rug. Wish me luck.
Jackie, I like the plum, it looks very cozy. Can you explain what a snug is to me? Is it the living room? I am glad the hens are getting along and hopefully will become pals, they sure are cute.
Lin, I did feel safe and was cautious even though we were indoors because of the heat. Did you like the Val Kilmer documentary? If I remember right I think he has a voice box from cancer, correct? No, not everyone is being safe out there and their logic is just mind blowing. Relatives that I thought would never be vaccinated are indeed to my surprise and happiness. I continue to wear a mask in stores and probably will for a long time. I do worry about my grandchildren going to school but at least I know they will wear their masks even though it will be a long day.
Patsy, my DIL is confused like you since she has asthma and allergies. She is vaccinated but doesn't know if she should shelter in place again because she lives next to St. Louis Missouri where they do not care about Covid.
I wouldn't even put my foot there and I am so glad I am out of Florida because that Governor is crazy.
Have a good day everyone and will send an email to Anne just to say hello. Keep staying safe.

Hello….
Jackie, I love the colors you used. And the deeper color is my favorite. Lovely indeed. Glad the hens are settled in. Ha, I too made a long call. This afternoon I talked to a friend for more than 2 hours. I kept saying I had to go as I did not want to ruin her afternoon but gosh, I did ruin it totally! It seems we could talk forever. I guess some friends are just that comfortable. Right?
Sandy, I am glad you enjoyed the party. No rain here and it is sorely needed. I spent the morning in another Zoom meeting. Some good information and I took notes once again. Wednesday, a half day meeting. Yipes!
Must wrangle all the trash and take it out and again, the containers need water.
I am taking a day off from stencils!
Be safe everyone.

Hello everyone. I’m sorry I didn’t catch up with you yesterday but the day became full of chores, emailing and phone calls. Some gardening was added to the list once I noticed a gate at the bottom of my garden was disappearing behind a prickly hawthorn bush. My neighbours and I got together to form a plan of action to deal with the officious man at the allotment and they managed to persuade me to back off, ignore his emails and wait for the right opportunity to have him removed. I do admit I’m someone who bends and bends when pushed and poked by such a person but then, if it continues, I snap and then watch out! I’m happy to try their approach and ignore him but we will also approach the council to transfer the tenancy to my name.
On our walk across the moors this morning I bumped into a lovely lady who walks her dog so stopped for a chat. Her husband mentioned when I saw him yesterday that her mother had passed away just a couple of weeks away from her 100th birthday so I passed on my condolences and we talked for some time about all sorts of things.
This afternoon I will prune my crab apple tree and roses then face the masking tape job I keep putting off!
Sandy, I was so moved at the idea you were finally able to spend time with your brother because such moments are really precious. To my mind these people who refuse to get vaccinated are creating problems for the rest of us because the virus will never be controlled while it has selfish humans that are happy to spread it about.
My interpretation of a snug is a reception room used to relax, read books and listen to music in, away from day to day hubbub. It’s normally an extra room besides a sitting room but since my cottage is small I’ve chosen it over a sitting room. Of course friends are welcome to use it too when they visit so I’m not really a recluse!
Lin, I might have been too quick to put the hens together because this morning I discovered mine hiding in their house while Lupin and Bluebell hovered outside the door waiting to peck and chase them if they tried to come out. I immediately became a mother hen and separated them so the new girls are once again on their own away from the hen house door!
I have known the friend I had the long chat to on Sunday since we were 11 years of age and starting at our senior school. We are complete opposites in every way as is my other friend I talk to on Facebook for hours with but as you say, we’re comfortable to talk about anything and everything.
Well I hope our numbers don’t get any less. I’ll keep in touch with Anne via email but hopefully she will get back to us because I haven’t managed to grasp how to copy and paste on this iPad yet!
Hello Patsy, wherever you are. Safe from wild fires I hope.
The hens are shouting so I had better investigate the prune that tree.

Happy Tuesday! After a night of tornado sirens the sun is out today. Luckily there was no tornado that I know of in my area but other areas were hit hard. I don't think there was any injuries but lots of damage. Where my son lives it was worse than here, he and Ewok were in the basement while Lisa was visiting her parents with the kids. Sirens went off there as well but we are all safe. More storms are expected tonight but I hope they wait until I get home from sitting. Never a dull moment.
Jackie, those little bully hens are not nice, they better learn to get along with the residents who were there before them. I was more than grateful to be with my brother because in my heart I am not sure he will be here for his next.
He is a fighter though so I hope I am wrong. I do hope that guy resigns without any incident and did I read correctly that you would like to take his place???
Lin, we had plenty of rain with more to come which is good but I just don't like driving in it and it looks like they are predicting it when I drive home tonight. Regular rain is okay but these are bad storms. Wow, 2 hours on the phone, not sure I could do that since I really don't like talking on the phone. Half day of a zoom call? Wow! We will hear from you later tonight.
Patsy, hope all is well with you.
Have a great day everyone.

Hello, the long Zoom meeting is tomorrow Sandy.
Today is the one year anniversary of the Derrecho that hit our state causing so much damage. And it is very hot today with storms expected later in the day. 🤦🏼♀️ Hoping we make it through the day!
I have been fixing things this morning and I think I am caught up for now. 🤞🏻
Are more scammers on the loose? I recently received a text in the middle of the night with a code for resetting my Tinder password. Whaaat? All I could think was someone made a mistake when entering their phone number. Eeeck.
Last night I received a code from Target, a legit email, with a code to reset my password. It wasn’t me, so I went to my app and reset my password.
Then I received a text with a refund from Amazon Prime video. What? Didn’t buy anything so I went to my credit card account and there was the refund, followed by an offsetting charge. How the heck? When you buy something on Prime video you normally use your stored credit card but no charge came to me. If the purchaser cancelled the purchase, it should have credited to the original charge method. Well, I guess I will need to check things more often. I hate it that Amazon is now a processor for lots of companies. You know, those tiny charges that are sent through after a purchase but before shipment to assure the credit card is valid. You never know what company has asked them to do that. And of course, the charge stays in pending charges until it drops off. It never is sent through. But I seem to get one of those every couple of weeks.
Well, enough on how I spend my time!
Sandy, I am glad you are safe and made it through the night. Storms. 🙆🏼♀️ Eeck!
Jackie, good to hear from you. I am sorry the hens did not settle in as well as anticipated. Bad girls! I continue to hope you are shed of that horrid man. When I get in a snit, it is difficult for me to back off. Luckily, I do not get overwrought often. Best wishes.
I sent Anne an email this morning. I was losing touch!
Hello to Patsy, Bob, Barbie, Jeri and everyone who is MIA.
Hugs.

Hello dear sneakers, all is well here on Mudd Lane (the real name of our road off the main road) and we are headed for another heat bubble. It is predicted to last about three days before it moves. We don’t have a/c, as I have mentioned. We do have a small portable room a/c that helps but doesn’t really cool a room. So we are preparing as best we can. Cool foods, ice for drinks etc, fans and closing out the heat with window shades etc. Katie will have ice cubes in her water dish.
Since there is a huge surge in Covid cases and the delta variant is sweeping through Oregon, I know we will be having some restrictions soon. We are also looking at a booster shot for people like John and me. Good idea! I would be first in line!
I have clicked on every spot on this iPad trying to copy and paste our forum to email Anne. But so far, I have been totally unsuccessful! I know it can be done but how…….?
Sandy: you are one brave soul to sit for the kids and then the commute is terrifying! Tornados cannot be dealt with, if they are in your path, they will win. The accompanying wind, rain and hail is also terrifying. Be careful, my friend. Celebrating a birthday with your brother is very special. It renews a connection and there are times it makes all the difference for everyone. I had that with my mom. We were not all that close when I was growing up. I lived with grandmother but later in life, mom and i connected. It was very special for both of us.
Jackie: I am very impressed by the great job your workman did on the plaster walls. Then your paint job is splendid. Also your chosen color scheme is very sophisticated and works great in that antique cottage. It is an unusual color, but creates a positive calming atmosphere. I remember about new hens in the hen house. They can be very territorial and vicious as I remember. Watch out for little Storm. She could become a target for their battle of domination.
Lin: I fear you are in for some weather as well. Be careful.
Anne: we are leaving little bread crumbs along the way back to us. You are still a sneaker, don’t ever forget, that!
Sending love as always,

Patsy, I have offered to send the posts to Anne but she said it is not necessary. An email from each of us will do and not necessarily daily. Just drop her a line or two to let her know you are thinking of her. If she wants the posts I will be happy to copy and send them to her. Must run to baby sit.

Up early to check the chooks! Not quite as disturbing as yesterday but I’ve fed and watered them and erected the fence between them while Bluebell and Lupin weren’t looking! A longish hair appointment and shopping taking up most of my day but will drop in once I’m home again and enjoying a cuppa.
Patsy, I searched how to copy and paste… after a few attempts I managed to forward my post to Anne yesterday.
Double tap first word of post with finger then keep it on the screen
Run finger down screen until blue haze covers what you want to copy
Pause and a black window appears at the top
Click on COPY
Go to new email, place finger on page and select PASTE in black box that should reappear!
Took me several attempts but then that’s me, I quickly become frustrated with most things IT!!
Happy Wednesday. Catch up later, hopefully with less hair falling in my face.

As Cab Calloway would say:
Hidee-hidee-hidee-hi
Hodee-hodee-hodee-ho
HOPE EVERONE IS WELL…
It’s been a whirlwind of activities the last 2 weeks. I actually have only checked my email twice in the last week. Various appointments, helping out a few relatives/friends and then the usual outdoor concerts, gym etc … For the next month or so I don’t think things will slow down and the NYS Fair is around the corner etc . I will probably only be checking-in once a week for a while.
My daughter and her family took a trip to the Outer Banks and had a blast. Our son-in-laws side of family (half-doz families) rented one of those large beach houses vs. hotels. The kids loved visiting the Wright Bros museum and NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island, zip lining etc. Someday I’d love to get there… more exciting times than I ever had or could provide – but thrilled for them.
Diet wise – somewhat holding my own – but with all the above have over indulged a bit too much. I mean Rebel Ice Cream may not have sugar BUT it isn’t low calorie and eating half a squash not the same as the 1 cup I would measure. Back on track as of Sunday and Cardiologist appointment next week (OK that got my butt in gear).
Jackie – a Happy Wednesday to you too! I knew what you meant when you said “chook” by the way you used it…but had never used it myself…I have a nephew in Az that has some “chooks” and always show pics of them and the eggs they reaped… I will use this term the next time. LOL
Sandy – So nice that you stay in touch with Anne and offer to do so much. Glad you escaped a tornado. It’s hot and humid here with a mix of sun and rain expected thru Friday. Best wishes with all your babysitting. Glad your brothers 88th birthday was a success! I am looking forward to connecting with the kids this weekend and hearing about their trip. Today “should” be less active than recent norm and trying to catch up on things.
Patsy – We are experiencing the same “hot” weather this week (upper 80’s-90) lots of humidity. You must be so tired by the end of the day without a/c – so draining. Sounds like you have everything under control. Sorry about the surge in cases and good luck re: booster.
Lin – Let’s pray you never get another Derrecho. I know that wind storm with thunderstorms etc can cause a lot of damage.
With regards, to scam emails – they never seem to stop and like you – I love the ones for places contacting me about a company I don’t do business with. I am super careful – whenever in doubt I initiate my own company with sender to verify.
Hope you have a great ZOOM! Nice tea pot.
Will be going back later to read some older posts. Have a great Wednesday. Bob

Happy Wednesday! More storms last night and again this morning. Hopefully they stop for our birthday dinner later this afternoon. We are finally celebrating a March birthday and will be caught up to current birthdays with my three friends. The next one is in October so things should get back to normal if they don't shut us down again.
Robby started 2nd grade in school learning today. It will be a long day since they have added an hour to the school day. I pray he does well, I am a little worried with his ADHD. He was nervous and excited to go so I hope he does well. Masks are required but I wish they could find a vaccine for kids. I think the socialization will do him good so I have high hopes.
Bob, good to hear from you and this summer seems incredibly busy for most of us. It sounds like the grandkids had a wonderful vacation and well deserved after a year and a half of isolation. Good luck at the cardiologist.
Jackie, a well deserved haircut to make you feel better. Hopefully the hens will get along soon and enjoy each other.
Hi Anne, will send my post to you but if you prefer I can send the daily posts. Hope all is well.
Patsy, our heat index makes the air feel over a hundred and I can imagine those with lung problems have a hard time breathing. I do not and still it was so humid it was horrible. I think tomorrow we finally cool down and hopefully the rain will stop or I am building an arc.
Have a great day everyone and keep staying safe, I know I am trying.

My hair is pink again and after a tidy I can walk on the moors again without wild hair whipping my face! My hairdresser has suffered a bad case of Covid since my last appointment and been left with a lack of taste and general weariness. She is in her late 30’s so hadn’t received a 2nd vaccination but also has asthma and allergies which may have lowered her immune system. Interestingly she didn’t pass it to her husband and also interesting that before Covid she was always travelling to music festivals in the UK and Europe but is hesitant to go to one this coming weekend because it will be her first and she feels she may not enjoy it. That’s an aspect of being shut away from society for too long; it suddenly feels scary.
By the time I got some shopping at a grocery store and paint at the DIY shop I had been away from home for 6 hours and with no neighbours around to let the dogs into the garden, I was concerned since I’ve never left them alone for that amount of time before. All was fine though with an excited greeting when I walked in.
Lovely to see a post from you Bob and I have to show you a photo from the BBC news website from an article about a builders team uncovering an old classroom blackboard at a school they are demolishing. Note the diagrams showing an anagram watch with the separate long and short hands and what they show!
Seems like only yesterday!
Yes, chooks is the descriptive name we use, probably because we talk to them by calling ‘chook, chook, chook’ and of course they reply!
Sandy, I hope you’ve had good news about Robby’s first day at school. It’s a daunting day for any young student but new friends will be so good for him.
As for the allotment saga, I have no wish to be secretary of the association again as I think I did my fair stint over 5 years. The tenancy agreement we hope to change is on the plot my neighbour and I rent from the council. It’s in Debs’s name at the moment but she wants to step back from any disagreements and I’m happy to fight the good fight for both of us. It’s complicated if you don’t know how our legislation works and to be honest you would soon get bored if I tried to explain! 🥱
Patsy, my builder’s saving grace was his wonderful work that has created a comfortable feel with curved edges and a mix of plaster and sand and cement walls that ensure they don’t look modern.
Dear little storm is getting chased more by one of the new girls but her 2 mums are doing a brave job of protecting her by guiding her into a corner and blocking the bully. I decided to place the partition wall across the run while I was out so all was quiet when I came home.
Lin, I’m no longer looking for emails from the allotment man as they come through on a different address to my regular one but do still occasionally write one to him in my head because he annoyed me so much!
Scammers are coming out of the woodwork here too and we are constantly being updated by police and banks about the latest emails, letters and phone calls to ignore. I dread to think how many vulnerable people get stung.
Past my bedtime so I’ll get this pink head down on my pillow. Nothing planned for tomorrow apart from a call from my GP for a catch up… her words, not mine. It seems to be a new policy since our lockdowns so some good may have come from the past 18 months.
Nite, it’s

Happy Thursday! Cooler today but I got caught in torrential rain driving home last night. It was so bad I couldn't see the lines on the road, luckily it wasn't a long downpour and I made it home safe and sound. Today is my meeting but I am so tired I am not sure I am going to go. Will see how I feel closer to the meeting time.
We had fun at our birthday dinner and then went and played some slots, I did not win.
Jackie, Robby enjoyed his first day at school so hopefully it continues and he makes some new friends. I think I get it, you would be in charge of your plot only since Deb wants no part of it. Good luck in whatever you are trying to do, just get rid of that numbskull. Do we get to see your pink hair once again??
Hello to everyone else, this forum seems to be going away which I hope doesn't happen.
Have a good day.

Good morning, we have a haze again but this time I welcome some relief from the blazing hot sun. We are still under that heat bubble. It is relentlessly sizzling hot. Our little portable a/c just could not keep up with the heat yesterday. That and fans kept us alive…not comfortable by any means.
Yes Sandy, I too have worried that our sneakers forum is disappearing. I really blame this awful pandemic. It seems we are universally losing contact and it is hard to maintain energy and enthusiasm for things we used to love. I really speak for myself only. I can see people are so tired of this. And we have a big variant scare here. Statewide mask mandate. Something needs to happen in our medical research. Better and stronger vaccine would set us right again. In the meantime I prattle on, sharing my not so interesting life.
Our son’s a/c broke right at the start of this heat bubble. He was right in the middle of a project so he was working in his little studio in terrible heat. Computers do not like heat. Damon gets cranky and makes bad decisions when he is hot. I am on pins and needles worrying about him.
Our daughter seems to be on a upswing however. It is the nature of her life. Up and down and making herself sick along the way. Right now she is back to her charming self. Not too productive, messy and comfortable with clutter and an amazing state of disorder. But when she is feeling good she makes a small effort and her family contributes. I need to be supportive and non-judgmental. Why is it we mothers seem to have all the answers? Realize this woman has magic in her fingertips. No matter what medium she touches, she makes breathtakingly beautiful things.
Remember that silly TV programs from the 60s Lavern and Shirley? I found myself humming that crazy theme song…”positive incorporated.” It will become my new mantra. I know if we keep in contact and use the sneakers like we have always done, as a way to connect with dear invisable friends. We can enjoy the friendship we have nurtured for years now. I personally feel you are all like family to me.
Making a cold pasta salad for dinner. Watermelon for dessert. John is off to the eye doc for eye exam and new glasses. For me, I am gathering trash for trash day tomorrow, a load of towels to launder and keeping an eye on the phone for a text from Damon. I will water my poor suffering house plants. Another couple of days and we should start getting relief from this heat bubble.

Hello friends. I did start a post about an hour ago but you can guess where it went… whoosh!!
I looked out fog and drizzle when I first got up but after breakfast decided I would take George and Betty to the moors anyway. I’m pleased I did because when I arrived out of the fog appeared my new friend David, the man having similar experiences with his builder as I did. His little pug was missing but he told me he left her in the car because she is still collapsing so his other dog, an adorable Cavalier King Charles, needs exercise because she is putting on weight. It’s obvious he is terribly worried about his pug but the vet says she is healthy in every other way so they must patiently work through options. I walked on and took the pooches up on to the next level of track and found we were above the fog and the sun was trying to shine. Nearly back to the car when I met another dog Walker Brian. We chatted about our veggies that we grow but then something he said reminded me he worked on the outside electricity supply to my cottage about 30 years ago. A group of tourists passed by and commented on his Westie’s clean white coat so Brian said oh he never gets dirty. When we parted company going in opposite directions I could hear him whistling for his dog quite some way along the track and then, where I stood waiting to see them meet up, his dog dropped from some bracken on a verge above us absolutely filthy. I can only imagine he had rolled in a pile of cow dung!! That made me smile.
I’ve been pottering doing odd jobs this afternoon including mucking out the hen house. The chooks are slightly more relaxed with each other so I let them share the run without the fence. Poor Storm seems to get the most attention but she’s much quicker and can also fly if necessary so should be ok.
Sandy, Robby saying he liked school is a great start and he’ll be even happier when he makes some friends.
Our little group does tend to go quiet in the summer months so I’m sure we won’t break up. I for one will be here however small it gets because I feel the same as Patsy, you are family so I need to know everyone is well plus my nosey side is curious about things! 🥰
Pink hair photo just for you! My hairdresser and I had lots of fun choosing colours and she did her best to guide me away from the bright pink but I was determined.
Patsy, I do wonder if at some point we all have to get on with our lives but being careful about social distancing and masks. Whoever or whatever set this thing amongst us has a lot to answer for but humanity has been through destructive pandemics before without the help of vaccines so I’m confident we will overcome. I’m more concerned about the fires and floods that will only get worse!! Bloomin’ heck, we need to be sat around a table with a large pot of coffee putting the world to rights! 😋
Wow, the sun has disappeared behind the neighbour’s roof so time to go in and get myself an evening meal.
Take care 😍

Hello all. I am waaay behind on posts. Sorry but today was my deadline for farm lease renewal. I gathered information, attended Zoom meetings and did calculations until I thought my eyes would fall out last night. I was going to wait for today’s WASDE August report but finally decided I would just make the call and have it over with. After discussing CBOT contracts, rain, input prices, ROI, land sales etc., we finally came to an agreeable rent per acre for next year. He will put an agreement in the mail me to sign and I can relax a bit. He did mention he has already received his property tax bills for this coming payment year. I haven’t so I looked online and they don’t indicate they have been mailed but I found out what I will need to pay.
Patsy, so your post brought up memories! I just sang the Laverne and Shirley theme song. Here’s an excerpt of the lyrics. Feel free to chime in. 🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶 if you haven’t already. 🙂
“ Doing it our way
There is nothing we won't try
Never heard the word impossible
This time there's no stopping us
We're gonna make it
On your mark, get set, and go now
Got a dream and we just know now
We're gonna make that dream come true
And we'll do it our way yes our way
Make all our dreams come true
And we'll do it our way yes our way
Make all our dreams come true for me and you”
Sandy, I am sorry you had to drive home in such a downpour. Glad you got home safely. We did not get any rain and are baking again in the heat. Tomorrow is supposed to be better but rain unlikely. Our State Fair just began today and they announced last night that the wagon type ride that was pulled by a tractor (and there were multiple ones driving around the fairgrounds) were all removed so if you go you must walk everywhere rather than catching a ride from one side of the grounds to another. It was very popular to get up an extremely steep hill to get to some popular activities. The reason was said to be safety of pedestrians. No one has been injured but they thought someone might be injured. Those have been running for decades. And they had interviews with people who said they would not go to the fair now because you would need to rent an electric scooter and that requires planning ahead as there aren’t enough for everyone. Or the said bring your own motorized chair. It was just a nice ride around the grounds. Everything changes and I find I am often not in agreement with the changes! Rest up my friend, you have been in high gear for a long time.
Jackie, cool! Love your hair color. You meet so many interesting people on your dog walks. You had me laughing at the ‘never gets dirty dog’ emerging covered by filth. Oh my. That’s what happens when you brag to someone about something. I am glad the girls are more quiet today. I hate that there always seems to be one animal in a group that gets picked on but then that includes human animals as well doesn’t it? I hope peace will break out with the chooks. I there are always things to do. Each day I have a struggle with my old television. I unplugged it every night for years but lately when I plugged it in and hit the remote control on, it powered on for a few seconds and turned off again. Then it would not switch on from the remote control or the power button on the set. Each day I play with the power cord, change where I plugin the set and eventually it will power on. Each time I think it is fine, the next morning it is not. Shopping? Yes, I did a bit but cannot find a set for my little space, well, not so far 🤓. I am sure you would have found something to order within my space constraints in no time!
Bob, what a nice long post. Busy of course! That was to be expected. Enjoy everything.
Must move along. It is the actual birthday of Max the Wonder Dog. I am going to see if I can see some of the little birthday party. He is 14 today. Astounding! There will be a huge event this weekend I believe.
