I'd drink less tea with that teapot lurking in my kitchen LIN.!!!!!!!!!!
Just to say I had two lovely beets with my lunch. Eaten all the broccoli but broccolini are forming now JACKIE. Mark and Mary Jo did a bit more work on the basement and its starting to take shape now. I'll soon have my pantry back to hoard the winter canned goods. Then we all went in the back to water grass and veggies and plant radish seeds in the spot vacated by the eaten beets in the actual garden and Jilly got a short walk. Its really strange, M and M who only live 10 minutes away are deluged with showers but nothing at all here nearer the lake.
All still very quiet in Harrys old abode, but obviously no one living there yet.
Good to know John isn't too badly hurt.
Teatime for me and the Bean.

Meeting went well and had to drop something off at Cheryl's house but that was it for today. I did get the Sims card for the new service for Babe's phone but I am still waiting for it to be unlocked. Supposedly it takes 24 to 48 hours so hopefully it should be here tomorrow.
Lisa sent pictures of the roller coasters Robby is going on and I would have died from a heart attack. 0-78miles an hour in two seconds and upside down. Many others but the one that he was a little scared of was one where your feet dangle. After doing it once he wanted to do it again. Brave boy that grandson of mine.
Nothin exciting so will be back after my 10:30am therapy in the morning. Have a good night.

Liberty of London is a high end luxury store Lin that also has its own designer lines so way out of my league! The fabric designs are iconic and anything with their brand name costs twice as much so there is what we would call a snob value! A beautiful Tudor style building though and worth a visit as a tourist, same as Harrods where we used to pick up a carrier bag to put our shopping in from ordinary shops! 😆
I love that crazy teapot!
Oh dear Patsy, I’m sorry John took a tumble but thank goodness nothing was broken.
Anne, you are way ahead of me with your broccoli. Mine is leafy but more like lettuce at the moment. This evening I discovered a jar of tomato and apple chutney my neighbour made in 2015 and never one to like waste, I’m going to check if it’s edible with tomorrow’s salad!
Bedtime for me and the furries so nite, nite.

Hey girls, here’s a bit of useless information… today is National Lipstick day. I’ll have to rummage deep into my makeup bag to find mine! 💄💋
It’s a beautiful day, clear skies so sun all the way but not too hot and having walked the pooches and sipped coffee on the deck, I’m now going to clear and prune the area at the side of my cottage where a rambling rose is entwined with blackberry brambles. The blackbirds feed on the fruit so I leave those areas but cut back the long trailing thorny branches otherwise they do their best to grab my face!
This morning I’ve phoned my friend whose service I went to and he sounds more in control which is good. Laundry hanging out to dry and hopefully uninterrupted pottering in store for me. Linda’s flower pots have been watered and I’m delighted that a lily I thought wouldn’t survive the upheaval is flowering. I’ve sent her a photo so she doesn’t miss out.
My tomatoes are beginning to turn toward being red and I’ve 2 more large cucumbers to pick. Selfishly, I feel I’ve waited a long time to have a day to myself but I’m aware the jobs are beginning to pile up. 🤨😎
Happy Friday ladies and don’t forget that lipstick! 👄
Jackie 🥰0 -
Morning. Lipstick day?. Mm I've got a stick somewhere. I guess because of lockdown people haven't been wearing it, well I haven't, and so sales need promoting. HAPPY LIPSTICK DAY, EVERYONE.
Isn't it a wonderful thing that we are eating our own veggies which haven't a trace of a chemical on them. With all this sun my beefsteak toms are big and beautiful but no red as of yet and the beets are growing at an alarming rate. You can almost see them growing. I must thin them yet again.
No Michael on the horizon because he is working the next two days. His much younger partner got promoted, he's the bosses son. Mikes almost 61 and he's getting richer and older, and more overworked daily. Its all feast or famine isn't it. I might go over to M and Ms place because Hobbes the giant puss is staying with them as his parents, my grandson and wife go gadding off to a friends summer cottage. Jilly LOVES Hobbes. She's not keen on dogs but loves giant pussycats.
Well time to get moving. No new folks with us as of yet. I guess move-in day will be August 1st our bank holiday.
Enjoy the day,
Anne.

Wowzy! Another hit humid day here. We are to start cooling off on Sunday. What a year of extreme weather. I guess you could say that things aren’t boring!
I am going around in the worst unattractive outfit imaginable. But it is cool and no amount of.lipstick will help. Maybe later I will put on another top. I have many tubes of lipstick. Most I need to toss in the garbage. I will never wear those silly colors. What was I thinking? It is cauliflower pizza night. So dinner is planned.
Yes Anne! It is wonderful to eat organic homegrown veggies and fruits. I remember how special that was when my dad shared his bountiful harvests with us. It is an exercise in utter frustration to think of any garden with where we live. Deer, elk, squirrels, rats, raccoons, owls, mice, slugs, snails, and various plant conditions are a constant threat. It is possible to grow many wonderful things here. But we must be far more knowledgeable to see any harvest. So we visit local farmers markets and enjoy the fruits of their remarkable labor. I am so impressed with all the sneakers gardeners. I am the only non-gardening sneakers. Alas! I have no skills!
Jackie: I love those star gazer lilies. The perfume is heavenly. John often buys me a bouquet of them when he is shopping and sees some. We also love snow peas. I use them in Chinese stir fry. Even fussy John likes them. And he views most veggies very suspiciously. And we also love fried green tomatoes. A southern treat. I try not to use much oil and I always wonder about those new kitchen appliances, the air frier. I have resisted because I don’t want another appliance unused and taking up space.
Lin: how is your garden doing? Christmas cards are such a lovely tradition. I fear they are disappearing. Only wonderful handmade cards from dear friends! We use email for everything
now. Damon says even email is considered old fashioned now. Every communication is texted.
What have we done?

Happy Friday! I swear these days are all running together. Had therapy this morning, then proceeded to make appointments for a colonoscopy and with a gynie. The colonoscopy is in November and I am waiting for a response from the other. I take pills for the prep instead of drinking that god awful stuff but have a call into the office for a question. They said to take12 pills followed by 16 ounces of water every half hour for one hour. The second doze of 12 pills is supposed to be 7 hours before the procedure and then follow up with 16 ounces water every half hour for one hour. She just called and explained to start the pills the day before between 4 and 5 and then again at 12:45am so it looks like I will be up all night. Oh well at least I will be too tired to care about the procedure.
Anne, have fun a the M's and Jilly with Hobbes. Poor Michael, does he enjoy his work or is a burden to him. My son works from home and makes good money but is always putting feelers out for a better job.
I think we will worry about our kids forever no matter how old they are. I have no room to plant veggies but am impressed with all you ladies.
Jackie, National lipstick day? I am so silly I wear lipstick under my mask and don't know why, just a habit I guess. That lily is beautiful but I love lilies.
Patsy, I hope John is on the mend and out of pain. That is my one fear, falling at my age.
You are such a good caretaker. I try but sometimes get frustrated.
Lin, weird looking teapot, but cute at the same time. Meeting went well and next week I speak.
Barbie, just keep up the good work, I think we might all be envious. lol
Have a good evening.

Hello. The last day of nice weather today as the temperatures will skyrocket again. No rain in the forecast in the next week. So it will be me and the hose out there trying to keep the plants alive. So my containers are doing okay but the newly planted pots will likely struggle more than the others. We will see I guess. 🤞🏻
I hunted for some brown paper this morning with a bit of a reddish undertone. I don’t have any and trying to order paper online when looking for a specific color is quite difficult. I hunted through some online stores but finally gave up the quest.
My deck has turned into wasp city during the heat of the day. I wouldn’t go out there on a bet at that time. 🙃 really, I would not!
Sandy, more appointments! Waiting a while may be okay. Well, I guess there’s no choice is there. In talking to a friend today, there was a lot of discussion about access to care. Long waits for care, not as many available doctors, more confusion and conflicting advice. Anyway, that’s what is up around here.
And I hope you get Babe’s phone functional soon without additional calls! Yipes, scary rides!?! No thank you. I am sure you wished you had gone along. 😁
Jackie, thanks for the information about Liberty. I thought it was upscale and I thought I had heard they had some involvement with fabric but wow, they are so much more! Another place that will never be on my imaginary bucket list. 😉 Oh my gosh, those lilies are marvelous!! Linda is so fortunate that you are looking after the flowers. You have a long list of things to do. I hope the pooches are cheering you on.
Anne, have you decided on a visit with the gigantic cat? 😁 I am sorry but I didn’t dig out any lipstick today. Not even chapstick! Having homegrown veggies is terrific! Even there are many cherry tomatoes and fewer green beans. Did you get groceries today?
Barbie, are your zucchini growing by leaps and bounds? Still moving your mulch bit by bit?
Well, moving along now.
Be safe everyone.

Hot weather not too bad today. Mulch is almost all spread. My job now is cleaning up the rocks around the perimeter of the house. I put the rocks there one at a time in 2011 when we moved in, now I'm moving them out one at a time and cleaning up all the debris that has accumulated. It is very satisfying and time consuming work.
Zucchini plant has several blossoms and one zucchini starting to grow. The first tomato is starting to turn red.
Eye doctor appointment tomorrow for both Jake and me. It has been a long time since I've seen him.
Lin, I've ordered yarn online and understand your concern about getting the right color of the paper you want.
I don't think I've owned any lipstick since the 1980's.

Good morning. I woke to a completely different climate… thick fog, drizzle and cool but decided I would still take George and Betty on the moors in the hope we would climb above the murkiness. It worked because we were soon seeing a lot further in spite of continuing drizzle which, in the usual moors wind, soaked us! When we reached the top I could see Heather with Bella walking along a lower path but didn’t catch up until we were back in the car park.
Before coming into my cottage I took secateurs and gloves to the beehive and gently cleared their entrance of foxglove stalks that had shot up. These bees are either tiny or I’d forgotten how small honey bees are compared with the bumble variety that buzz around my flowers. A box of flat packed frames were delivered yesterday afternoon so I must get my suit on and check if they need me to make them up now. While I was talking to the courier a neighbour’s untrained dog ran at me barking and showing his teeth then nipped me on the back of my leg but when I told the neighbour she shouted at me what a horrible person I am and her dog has never bitten anyone so it must hate me! The courier looked startled because he’s got to know me over the years so I gave him a smile, glared at the neighbour and walked away but I could hear her calling the dog and prepared myself for another nip but nothing happened. And there was me thinking I would enjoy a peaceful day on my own without hassle! 🙃🤪. There are many stories I could tell you about this neighbour but since there is a noticeable mental issue, I won’t bother. Needless to say, I do my best to ignore her.
The scented lilies fill the air with their fabulous aroma in the evening and I step over the other potted flowers to put my nose into their centre. How wonderful that John brings bunches home to you Patsy. This one stands over 3’ tall so I’ve had to support it with canes as it’s become top heavy. A stir fry sounds a perfect meal tonight with so many peas and varieties of beans, maybe with ginger I’m growing in a pot.
Anne, your garden is doing well considering the late start. I’ve scattered beetroot seeds in a tray to split with Linda because she had to leave a row behind on her plot and hopefully they will come to something before our cold weather returns. Did Jilly get to see her friend Hobbes? It’s lovely to see when cats and dogs get on.
That’s a cute teapot Lin and classic Art Deco. Even I wouldn’t go near those wasps as it’s the one species I find unpredictable, especially in late summer. A final story about the allotments and this one funny; when Linda was clearing her plot last week she walked past the communal shed which Mr Nasty now locks because he wants control over who has use of the lawnmower, and noticed a wasp flying out of a tiny hole in the back of the shed. You can guess, we are hoping a nest is being built in there because it’s not getting the usual human activity!
Sandy, I think lipstick can act as a pick-me-up at times and at least you know you are wearing some under your mask. 😆. Today is National Cheesecake day but since we are on a healthy lifestyle website perhaps it’s best to move on!
I’ve lost a couple more pounds that I’ll log on our pound a week page and that’s after a glass of wine and pork pie last night!
Busy as ever Barbie. I seem to remember when you first placed those rocks round your property soon after I joined the Sneakers group. I was impressed then and am still today! Linda delivered paving slabs off her plot last week that are so heavy I might just manage moving one a day to the path around my veggie raised beds!
Happy Saturday everyone.
Jackie 🥰0 -
Jackie, those rocks have been a big project. I don't have nearly the opportunities for adventures on the land that you do. I used to spend more time outside but now that Jake is more sedentary and indoors, I spend more time with him. We bought this place specifically to have less yard to care for. I have created projects for myself but even so, it can be cared for with only a bit of work. Your adventures with your dogs sound great but I am satisfied with my walks around my neighborhood. I am never more than a ten minute walk from home.

Wow JACKIE nothing but adventures in your part of the world! My neighbours haven't been THAT bad. The late collector of junk Harry wasn't a mean or bad man just a bit thick compared to his wife Joyce, and I really like the Afghans apart from 7 cars [all bearing a sticker saying "I love Afghanistan"] a motor bike and a flat bed trailer. After your tales of mean neighbours and dogs I wait with bated breath to see who will show up here on August 1st.
Gardens. Our season here is late starting but once it does its a jungle out there in no time as all the plants are shoving and jostling for space before our extremely hot humid summer takes off and blessed fall arrives.
No Jilly hasn't met up with Hobbes the giant pussycat yet. Either Sunday or Monday - our bank holiday.
I'm just making bread and its hopefully rising. This is because I'm trying out a recipe I found in a very old book. Cross fingers please every one. Today is our cool day before it heats up again. Only 27C before its back up at predicted 28, 29, 27 and then in the low 30s by the 3rd August.
Everyone seems happy enough from the above posts. Well apart from mean but ignored neighbours. rock moving, stuff taken before horrible procedures, paper hunting, and John on the mend. Oh and the dreaded wasps, but I've yet to see a mosquito. They must have gone north with Harry the Lad.
Enjoy Saturday!
Anne.

Happy Saturday! Zoom call with family, then picking Joe up to see the gang at the pool. Later I am sitting so parents can go to party. It is a beautiful day but with picking up Joe and taking him back home I will miss out on some sun. It will be worth it though to see Joe happy. Tomorrow is another day.
Spent too much time on phone with trying to get Babe's phone over to the new carrier to no avail. We may end up buying a new phone with a new number which kind of ticks me off. Since he bought the phone from T Mobile you think they would have the unlock code but they said they have to get it from manufacture and they might not send one at all. Ugh.
I better eat something and get ready for my day. Have a good one everyone.

Joe and Khalid are in the back garden clearing out the garden furniture. They came over to chat and say they will see me before they leave. I am feeling very weepy because I genuinely like them all and felt safe with them next door. Who would have thought I would ever meet, let alone like, people from Afghanistan! To think I gave Harry a bottle of sherry I was so happy to see him leave after 33 years and here I am feeling weepy about folks after only 1 year.
The bread turned out good even if I did slightly burn my arm when taking it out of the oven.

Good day! Since the temperature is forecast to be astronomical the next week, I decided to do some laundry this morning as I won’t want to run my dryer and I have no outdoor clothes line as it is against zoning regulations to hang laundry outside. 🤦🏼♀️
My daily harvest today included cherry tomatoes and another lovely celery bunch. I love the scent of the newly cut stalks and leaves. It is washed and trimmed and in the refrigerator. Yes!
Among other thoughts of paper projects to try, I thought about what I might make for my local friends this year. Several years ago I made fancy layered paper poinsettias, last year I made a calendar with monthly tear off pages. I could send everyone a refill for the new year but I doubt they would want to tape on or glue the addition. Anyway, there’s an online group that is on fire for making little bundles of blank note cards as gifts. They are getting quite fancy with the packaging and enclosures such as a pen and stamps. So I thought maybe I could keep it simple and make little bundles of 4 cards to send to everyone but I did a small friend sample, and no one is sending that type of card now. No thank you notes, thinking of you, etc. Just a birthday card once in a while or a sympathy card. I spoke with one friend for a while and she says she still spends a lot of time at the card counter for the cards she does send to pick out exactly the right card and sentiment for the person and occasion.
Well, that was a HUGE letdown. But I am going to go ahead make a few dozen cards according to the parameters of an organization that collects handmade cards to deliver to hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, etc. I will look into this further so I understand the details. Apparently at first glance, no glitter, nothing on the inside, no personal notes, at least 10 cards in a package, there’s an enclosure form to be filled out and you just sort the cards by type. So far, that all sounds reasonable but I want to make certain I understand this totally. I don’t want the cards thrown away for violating their rules.
My friends will not receive anything this year. I think they will be fine. 😁
Sandy, sorry about the phone problem. Very frustrating. Enjoy the zoom call, your time with Joe, and the kiddy time! Take care. And was it you or your family with that winning Mega Million (Billions) ticket? If so, looking forward to a party, thank you very much.
Anne, how did the bread turn out? Let’s see, 1st of August is Monday. Perhaps the moving in will start then. Some friends are taking possession of a property that day but I do not think they are moving immediately as some work may need to be done.
Jackie, my goodness, haven’t heard a peep about your bees for a long time. I hope they are thriving. And stir fry does sound good. Do you add onion to yours? That’s one of my favorite parts of stir fry. I hope all went well with everything on your schedule. Good of you to try to provide some beets for Linda. As far as wasps are concerned, if those buggers build at the allotment, others may be stung as well but that’s a hazard of working outdoors I guess.
Barbie, aha, a new project. I do not have large rocks but smaller ones also collect old leaves and other debris that seems to pile up. Not that I am putting that on my list. My neighbors use those incredibly loud leaf blowers on anything that needs cleaning, sidewalks, driveways, stuff building up on landscape rock. That would be faster. 👍🏻😁👍🏻 Take care of your back my friend.
Patsy, I think I must have missed you again. I hope your weekend is going well, that John is feeling okay and Katie isn’t up to any mischief.
Take care everyone.
Lin🙋🏼♀️

And this is funny! I love it actually.

Hi LIN, I wrote just above you, but just to let you know the bread turned out good.
Your new projects sound most interesting. Please keep us up to date.
JACKIE, I think the small bees are "wild" bees that moved in. Am I right?
Mark says maybe the new neighbours will be just as nice if not nicer. But thats hard to imagine. When Harry lived next door he never used his snow blower on anyones property but his own or offered to cut the grass of anyone in the 30 odd years I knew him, and by contrast the present family always ran over my lawn if needed when they cut their own grass. A couple of weeks ago one of the sisters produced the dearest little baby. I wanted to get him something but they've already vanished and tomorrow everyone will be gone. Joe mentioned the new people will take their time moving in.

Another hot one today! It is rumored to be cooling off on sunday…slightly. Maybe a cooling trend heading for a glorious fall. You see what a romantic I am.
I am determined to get better insulating drapery for the living room. So far nothing that meets my fancy. So the research and hunt continues. All of the floods and heat waves are scaring me. Locally our county health dept. keeps warning us to make a plan and keep an emergency bag ready in case of wild fire or flood. That sounds pretty ominous! Katie is very smart about finding the coolest place to nap. It is in the closet of my dungeon. She even brought one of her stuffed animals in to keep her company. It is dark, cool and quiet.
I am fixing salmon stir fry tonight. The usual stir fry veggies plus purple onions and a small salmon fillet. I have fixed salad so often I am getting complaints from “you know who.” But I hate to turn on The stove when it is so hot.
I am taking a page from my tarot card friend and embellishing a couple of plain shirts that really do nothing for me. I have some leftover jewels that I used on a pair of jeans. The jewels fell off at first washing. I will sew these on. I see a small space in the metal backing to sew them on. A great activity while we are watching TV.
Saw this quote on the back of a book. “If things actually get better with age, I am approaching magnificent!” Don’t you love it? That’s why I thought I needed to wear a jeweled tee shirt.

went to the eye doctor today. I knew something was wrong. Next stop will be the retina specialist

Barbie: thoughts are with you! I have macular degenation and must have regular eye shots. Scary but extremely effective. Really not painful, just nerve, wracking. Good luck! There is good medicine these days, as you know. I feel confident you will be fine. Let us know how you are doing.
Patsy☘️0 -
Good morning. It’s overcast and we’ve had some welcome rain although not enough to make a big difference to the ground. A shorter walk but we still managed to get soaked so my earlier washed and blown hair is now sticking out and I look like a scarecrow! Just as well I’ve a hair appointment on Wednesday. On the way home I stopped off at the farm supply store for a bag of corn for the hens and also bought a summer hat with wide brim just in case we get another heatwave.
Barbie, I’m sorry you are experiencing problems with your eyes and also hope you can arrange an appointment with a specialist very soon. Our sight is precious and must be looked after. As for my dog walking, it’s certainly fun but I’m nowhere near your daily steps because I tend to amble these days, enjoy the scenery and often pause while the dogs investigate a blade of grass. According to my phone App I average 6,000 steps on a good day, so half yours!
Anne, believe me, your new neighbours won’t be anything like my disturbed one. Debs and Louise, who live in the cottage between me and her, think her dramatic mood swings might indicate she suffers with the Bipolar disorder but my observation is different!! A bite mark on the back of my leg is bruised and painful so I think I will put a note through her door with a photo of it explaining if her dog comes near me again I will report it to the police. A bit dramatic but I’m sure she will act on it.
You live in a lovely area and I can’t imagine inconsiderate, loud people would even be in a position to afford that property next to you.
The new bees are probably a swarm that’s left the comfort of someone’s hive because it became overcrowded. When bees sense they are running out of room they produce a new Queen to stay in the hive, then the original royal takes off with half the household to pastures new. That’s after a few scouts have been out and about looking for a new home. We could learn a lot from the humble bee! 🐝
Patsy, I did think of you and John recently when the horrendous wildfires in California were shown on our news and I remembered your worries last year, or was it the year before? After fires broke out in England a couple of weeks ago I realise it can happen anywhere. Then there’s the terrible floods occurring round the world!
A couple of years ago I bought insulated curtains for my bedroom to keep the cold out because I can’t sleep in a heated room. They aren’t particularly heavy but whatever they are lined with works. Luckily for me, grey with a silver thread running through works with the decor because it was the only colour available at the time.
I love that saying about perfection. Im sure we sneakers are all heading in that direction, if we’re not there already!😆🤣
Lin, the girl with a teapot on her head is wonderful and has an expression on her face I can relate to! Onions are a must in a stir fry for me. I don’t grow them because they are so cheap to buy and tonight I am going to borrow Patsy’s recipe for stir fry with salmon as I have an expensive bag of wild salmon steaks in the freezer to use up.
Sandy, I hope you had a great time with Joe at the pool as well as sitting later. Phones are a pain to set up and I wonder sometimes why in this modern, technically savvy world, companies can’t make improvements. I would hesitate to ever change my phone and go through the problems that arise.
Now, for the 3rd time in as many months, I’m going to paint that wall in my snug but this time in the same colour as the rest of the room. As my friend Linda commented the other day, feature walls are so passé! 😆
Everyone please give a shout out for 🏴 England playing 🇩🇪 Germany in this afternoon’s womens’ Euro football final. I’ll be on the edge of my seat!
Jackie 🥰

A short note from me and I'll read everyones post later in the day when Mikes gone home.
Do you remember Mike getting the vaccine to prevent shingles? Well just three weeks after a booster he's now got shingles the same as I did after 3 weeks, but he says not as bad as mine. Thinks the vaccine has reduced the severity.
Must fly, I'm cooking soup to go with the home made bread I made yesterday. Oh. one can't pass shingles on to people who've already had chickenpox.
Saw the photo JACKIE, horrific. That dog should be reported. Hard to do, but postmen will be grateful

Happy Sunday! It's a beautiful day here so I will be hanging at the pool. Kiddos were so good yesterday sitting was easy except for Charlie who kind of had a tantrum when putting to bed. She settled down fast though, she is just a firecracker kind of girl. lol
Babe's granddaughter came to visit him while I was gone because I suggested to Cheryl that Babe would be alone while I sat and if Marisa could visit that would be nice. She brought him a Blizzard from Dairy Queen.
Anne, sorry to hear about Mike and hope it is a mild case. I thought the shingles vaccine prevented shingles so this must be rare. Home made soup, home made bread, you are just like Betty Crocker.
Jackie, I thought you were talking about your own bees, do you still have hives that you take care of?
That is a nasty bite, I do hope that dog is vaccinated for rabies, if not I would definitely report it.
Please be careful. Joe had a wonderful time at the pool. We sat him under an umbrella and everyone came to him to say hello. He only stayed about an hour, I could tell he was getting tired. I agree about modern technology the girl I talked to trying to help me made me laugh as she was googling looking for answers. I didn't have the heart to tell her I already did that and there were no answers.
Patsy, my buddy Joe who is 98 also has macular and gets shots every six weeks. I have a mild case so the PreserVision eye pills with Lutein really help keep mine at bay. How is John feeling?
Barbie, sorry about your eye and hope it is an easy fix. With so much modern medicine things are much better than years ago.
Lin, nope it wasn't me who won the mega million, I just donated $20. Des Plaines is not far from me but not a gas station that I would use. Babe and I fantasized over what we would do with that money but most of it was silly.
Time for Mass, have a good day everyone.

Hello dear sneakers! It is blessedly cool at this moment. However our sheltering marine layer will be gone very soon. Then we are in for a hot afternoon and early evening. The worst of the dry scary wildfire season is happening. A huge wildfire just exploded on the border of Oregon and California. 0% contained! And it grew to 18,000 acres in 24 hours. So now Damon is fussing. “Mom, get your emergency bag together. Your meds, a change of clothes, energy bars and water as well as a bag of kibble for Kate, any Important documents and I will meet you somewhere or you come here.” That is our standard plan for wildfires or other extreme events. So far we only smell the smoke. We are at the opposite end of Oregon from the current wildfire. However we are in a heavily forested area. The timber companies around here keep firefighting equipment and an experienced crew. The county is telling us to stay alert and be extraordinarily careful.
Jackie: We don’t get that game on our TV. John half listened-watches whatever sports are being offered…except golf. He says that was really like watching paint dry. He rarely sits and watches sports. He sort of cycles around doing his tasks of the moment while keeping an eye on the event. An odd concept but…..about the dog bite, you know that is a serious situation. Suppose that had happened to a small child or an older person? All that is possible with an untrained and unleashed doggie. A tragedy in the making.
Anne: it has to be very upsetting to try to be safe and get the vaccines, only to contract something else. It must be some kind of allergy to the vaccine. True! These things are not perfect and we’re
offered as a quick bandaids for Covid. So sorry to hear about Mike.
Sandy: I also take Those eye vitamins. They have been proven to help! Lovely that Babe is able to enjoy visiting with his family while you get to socialize as well.
Lin: was that Lady Gaga with the teapot? So funny! We occasionally watch some of the really old tv shows. Have you noticed how our culture has really changed? So many of the shows could not be made today. Many things were written into the scripts that today would be considered anti-scocial, offending many groups as well as animals. Yet they had a sort of innocence.
Making Sunday pasta. Olives, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, anchovies on angel hair pasta.

Phew, a dramatic win for England had me on the edge of my seat. Wonderful celebrations and hopefully a boost for womens’ football in this country. Too late for a stir fry now because it went into extra time so another small salad!
As for the biting dog, my fear is also that a child could get seriously hurt so in my note to it’s owner I have said if I find it running about untended in our communal area again I will report it as a dangerous dog. Sadly it is the 3rd unsocialised dog this lady has kept over the years allowed to run free and be a nuisance.
Patsy, The same thing has happened to our tv shows, in fact some from the 70’s are now banned from being shown because they are considered non PC whereas I feel they are a part of social history so should be viewed in that context.
Thank heavens you have a plan should the fires spread in your direction and you must both follow Damon’s advice. No hesitation… GO!
Sandy, the bees in my hive are a new arrival as I hadn’t had any for about 3 years. They are very quiet so I need to inspect them to make sure they have what they need, a bit like offering extra furniture to help out a family that just moved in!
Time to rummage in the fridge.

Hello everyone. Attended online church today, and started working a bit more on Thanksgiving cards. And of course, I ruined more perfectly good paper cutting different shapes and trying ideas. Ooops. Guess I should have started with throwaway paper for the design and then switched to the colors I wanted to use. Oh well. Live and learn.
It is hot and windy so I will be out watering later this evening. Poor plants. There’s an upswing in vegetable damage. Something that I haven’t seen, has eaten up most of my runner bean foliage. I will have no beans from my experimental plant. No more parsley from what had been a very hardy plant. Here’s why.
Swallowtail butterfly on the way…….
Anne, the 2 dose Shingrix vaccine for shingles reduces the likelihood of getting shingles but doesn’t eliminate the risk 100%. I am sorry that Mike has a case. Very unpredictable rash and nerve pain. I trust it will not last long. These diseases are more insidious all the time. Enjoy your holiday and visit with Hobbes!
Jackie, congratulations to the team on the victory. When I checked it was second half 0 - 0. Then I saw this!
Some little bees seem to be trying to get in under the siding on my house. That doesn’t seem good at all. But then I worry about stinging things. Welcome to your new inhabitants. I will chime in and say that dog is dangerous. They need to keep it in an enclosed space and on a leash if they take it out. That bite/bruise looks bad.
Sandy, okay, you didn’t win. Shucks. I thought maybe I knew a star! 😁
Patsy, nope, that wasn’t Lady Gaga as far as I know. Just an unidentified model. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻that no events take place in your area requiring evacuation. Great that you have a plan in place. And as far as old TV shows, I love them and will continue to watch them until they jerk all of them off the air due to inappropriate content. Some of them do have a warning message at the beginning now. Actually this afternoon, as I have been working, I had “Leave It to Beaver” running. They had episodes on until 4pm Central time.
There was a fair amount of time where I had no Internet connection overnight and this morning. Wow, that always hurts!
Be safe everyone.

Mike who has a very mild case of shingles [I have leftover scars down the left side of my face] has decided he will be over for lunch. What to give him although he offered to bring take out. Fed up of cold meals I decided to get up early and make a shepherds pie and its almost ready in the oven. We'll just have to warm it up in the micro at noon.
Mark and Mary Jo came over after buying more wood and drywall for the downstairs. A field day for Bean who also got to drive over to the bank. She is going to be most surprised when Mike shows for two days in a row.
I'm praying no wild fires come anywhere near Patsy and John. How utterly frightening! We have fires here as well but much further north.
The car and trailer remained here overnight but I expect will be gone today.
I must water as well Lin because my poor plants are also wilting in the heat. I'm watering twice a day now with no rain in the forecast. Seems ages since we had rain.
Must go and take the pie out of the oven and cool us off.
Please stay safe everyone,
