Happy Monday! Another beautiful day but I think I will run some errands instead of the pool. We need some groceries, I need gas and a return to Kohl's for Amazon. Might try a pick up grocery order but buying meat that way is not as good as actually looking at the meat counter.
Lisa's mom is sitting for volleyball tonight for which I am grateful. I am not getting too many days of doing nothing but at least it keeps me active.
Anne, I am glad Michaels case is mild, is he sure it is shingles and not just a rash? What's the point of getting two shingles shots if you can still get shingles? Jilly will be in heaven with all her walks and what a good mom making a fancy lunch for her son. Can't wait to know about your new neighbors.
Lin, interesting picture of the cocoon soon to be butterfly, very pretty. I guess you are keeping ahead of the season with making Thanksgiving cards, so efficient.
Jackie, I thought I remembered you got rid of your bees so I was confused as usual. You are so kind to those little creatures and I don't want them any where near me. lol I still worry about your bite if that dog is not vaccinated, it really should be reported to check. You know we don't want anything to happen to you.
Patsy, my eye doctor swears by those pills and they have kept my macular degeneration the same for years so I am very happy. Please be careful with those fires and first sign of danger get out. As you always say you are family and we worry about you, John and Katie.
Barbie, hope you got in to see the eye doctor for some good news.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning. I made a trip to the library this morning as soon as I could because they are talking heat advisory. Not sure if it this afternoon or tomorrow but it seemed early to receive it this morning if it is not until tomorrow. I would really like some iced coffee and I have quite a bit of $$ on my Starbuck’s card but they are sooooooo busy in the morning. Hope it works out one of these days. Maybe when I need to get gas for the car.
Sandy, hope your errands go well today. I got a parking place close to the library entrance this morning. Whoppee! I returned the gifted baseball game ticket so someone could use it. I knew I wouldn’t go alone. The lady looked kind of shocked and said it was very kind of me to return it. Apparently that doesn’t occur often.
As far as cards are concerned, I try to work very far in advance when I am making 30 - 50 cards for a holiday. The 1 or 2 at a time are much easier. I checked a little bit more, a number of people making cards for that charity just make cards, set them aside and only send them in one or two times a year in large packages. Something to think about.
The caterpillar has disappeared overnight so it may be off looking for a place to make its cocoon. I read that they search for a place that seems relatively safe from predators. I will miss the caterpillar!
Anne, company again today. How nice that you cooked something special for today’s meal. I like a mix of hot and cold meals. I just dug a few more potatoes and pulled an onion. No more green beans are ready right now. 😔 Hello to Mike. I hope he is feeling better.
Jackie, how did the stir fry turn out? Is your leg sore and did you leave a sharpish message for that woman? Did you get around to painting that wall? By the way, I hope you are doing what you prefer and have taken no heed to any criticism. It is your home. ❤️
Patsy, I haven’t heard any weather updates for your area. How is Damon and your daughter? Hope you had a good weekend.
Barbie, busy trying to schedule an appointment? Or maybe you have one already.
Back to my tasks. Be safe.

Hello dear sneakers! You remember that “It is an ill wind that blows no good…..” I of course can’t quote or remember exactly but the truth is in that. We have a weird golden haze and the weather is quite mild. That is because the smoke from the Oregon-California wildfires is blocking the intense sun. The mild weather is welcome but I hate to think of the real reason and that “Ill wind.”
Today I am beginning a new exercise program aimed at arthritis and flexibility. Hope it works because I have really been feeling creeky.
Anne: that is alarming about dear Mike getting shingles after getting two shingle shots. I wonder how common that is? I hear that you and Mike feel certain it was somehow related to getting a Covid booster? This is new info. I wish there was a clearing house of real information aimed at offering real data. Not just opinion or fear. Anyway, I am so glad Mike has a mild case.
Lin: I also love that caterpillar. So colorful. But you know you are sharing your veggies with her. I know I would just look the other way after I wished her a good morning and telling her to enjoy her breakfast but don’t be too greedy.
Sandy: I often think it takes all our strength to keep things going. We try to do some housework everyday. Then on a regular basis we get supplies and meds. Do our personal bookkeeping and
banking, I try to sneak in some time in my dungeon and BOOM, the day is over and we getting ready for bed. So I guess we are all pretty busy. It is like someone stole a few hours of our day when we were not looking.
In getting our emergency bag together to set at the back door is a hoot! I keep adding stuff and John keeps putting stuff back where it belongs. Last night John laughed that my emergency bag would take a forklift to move! It appears I have missed the point of a small bag to grab as we dash out the door. I pray none of us would need an emergency bag!

I hope you don't need an emergency bag Patsy!
Mike came for lunch and it was a huge success. The shepherds pie turned out really good and Mike said it was the best meal he's eaten all week. His shingles are very mild. Thats because of the shingle shots he had. If you are unfortunate enough to get shingles after the shots the shingle vaccine does reduce the symptoms. We are both convinced the last Corvid vaccine shots triggered shingles in us. He was dubious at first but now he's a believer.
Other than that black clouds are drifting over us but no rain as of yet. I'm also nervously wondering what my electricity bill will be after almost constant running of the window air conditioner. Not to mention the water bill with so much watering.
Its only money and money is really only numbers!
Anne and the sleeping black furry one.

It’s evening and I’m sipping a cup of tea after pan fried wild salmon and garden salad. It was a pleasant temperature when we walked on the moors this morning because some hefty clouds were hanging around but after we got home and I cleaned out the planter ready to take to Linda, the sun popped out and ouch, very hot! Two cups of coffee and lots of chat about yesterday’s women’s football win I collected another 2 bags of wood to keep me warm in the winter months and headed home. The neighbour that is supplying the wood is a retired policeman and I’m going to give him a couple of bottles of wine as a thank you. I might need him one day! 😜
I should water everything tonight but low clouds have drifted in off the coast so I think I might get eaten by midges if I go out now. I’ll get up early instead and carry out the watering before we walk. I picked my first 3 tomatoes today but think they need a couple of days on a window sill.
My note with photo of my bruised leg has been delivered so that will hopefully be taken seriously. Linda witnessed the bite mark and was horrified so agreed something needed to be said but Sandy, please don’t worry, we don’t have Rabies in Britain because all animals arriving from abroad have to be quarantined or be vaccinated weeks before they travel. Being an island helps sometimes! The dog bit through a pair of jeans I was wearing so didn’t break the skin so no risk of any infection, just a big bruise!
Lin, yes my wall was painted apart from one alcove where I have to empty and move a large display cabinet. Painting the walls in the one colour rather than a feature wall was my idea, something I should have done in the first place, and I’m really happy with the result. That caterpillar is amazing but imagine you wouldn’t find many leftovers once it munched its way through a lettuce! They are rare in England and live on the Norfolk Broads which are in the east so far from Cornwall and I’ve never seen one although I remember last year someone in the parish took a photo of one in her garden.
Patsy, I seem to remember that ill wind either brings or blows no good, either one will do at the moment. I hadn’t realised just how close the current fires are to Oregon until a map was shown on the news earlier. I’m in awe of such brave firemen risking their lives fighting those massive infernos and of course also fear for the wildlife but especially you and John knowing you are surrounded by woodland.
I believe any vaccine is a lottery, whatever it’s supposed to protect me from, so I look at each individually and contemplate what could be worse, a reaction or the illness itself. I didn’t catch Chickenpox as a child so hopefully no Shingles in my future and I’m still considering the offer of yet another Covid booster. I know quite a few people who tested positive recently and either had no symptoms or very mild.
For some reason I didn’t get much sleep last night so might get an early night for once. George went up to the spare bedroom straight after his dinner and Betty is snoozing in the snug. Brady of course, is prowling outside as it gets dark!
Jackie 🥰

Good day! Nearly 8 hours sleep must be a record for me and I’m certainly feeling rested. A rather grey, dismal day but at least the veggies are receiving a fine watering from drizzle. We took a very short, slow walk round the block because neither pooch wanted to go far and I’m now sipping coffee, catching up with the BBC app news and contemplating emptying that display cabinet so it can be moved and the wall behind painted. I can then say the snug is finally decorated and move on to either the kitchen or my bedroom.
Good news Barbie and not too long to wait.
Four more yummy tomatoes!
Happy Tuesday.

Soon be the 31st BARBIE.
Next door folk were supposed to be gone by the 1st August but trailer and old car still on the drive. Here's the intriguing thing. Jilly woke me up at 5 am by barking her head off and peering out the window, I see "Joes" car parked under my tree. So the keys haven't been handed over as he is presumably inside the house. So, has the house been sold to family, friends or fellow afghans? Time will tell, but I'm beginning to feel like Agatha Christie.
Loads to catch up on today after a fairly active and enjoyable long weekend.
See you, Anne.

Happy Tuesday! Therapy this morning, then sitting this afternoon. A few more errands after therapy and then another call to T Mobile.
Have a great day everyone,
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
Good morning. It will be a slow day for me. I couldn’t sleep last night and was up to greet the new day. Pooped now. My plans to do a couple of errands before it got very hot have also evaporated. I guess we will hit an actual temperature of 99 degrees F. Poor plants. Peak power alert for 4 to 7 pm. At least one local utility is asking people to not use dryers, dishwashers, stoves, and ovens during that time. A cold evening meal for everyone?
Sandy, another busy day!
Jackie, oh goodness, lovely tomatoes! Yummy. And I am glad to hear you are doing what you want to do with the paint color. I watered last evening and it washed really too hot but tonight, I am expecting a sweating fest.
Patsy, I did giggle a bit about the emergency pack because I have the same problem. Always too much and too heavy. And I am not 24/7 prepared. I tend to pack up when conditions seem to be threatening and then I put things away again. 🤦🏼♀️
Anne, for goodness sakes, I wonder what is going on next door. A hold up in the sale for some reason? Well, all will be revealed in time. Take care and a pat for Jilly please.
All best wishes.

The china cabinet was emptied and alcove painted so now I just have to put everything back! When I emptied it before the renovations took place I managed to box up several items to take to a charity shop but this time, although I’m looking at old sherry and cocktail glasses that I will never use, I can’t bring myself to give them away. I must stop being sentimental because I’ve also researched Kodak cameras, still boxed, that belonged to my dad and it seems they are not usable anymore! Perhaps I’ll sleep on it.
Anne, perhaps something got in the way of the property exchange at the last minute. It happens a lot here. Keep the investigation going Agatha!!
Phew, a busy day Sandy but enjoy what you can. Good luck with the phone!
Lin, I’m going to steam peas and mange tout this evening to mix with pasta and Parmesan so must get off the sofa and pick a few. Unbearable heat for you but does it mean you can’t run a/c during that peak time or just what might be considered non essential? It is muggy here but only about 22C. My friend Pat lives not far from Stow-on-the-Wold and I’m sure we had lunch at that pub a few years ago. The whole village is beautiful.
I checked the postcode on the tin of tea in your teapot picture and it’s a famous London market.
Time to pick, cook and eat!
Jackie 🥰
0 -
Oh Jackie! Thanks for all the information. How grand that you have been to that pub. And I will have to look up the Borough Market. It looks potentially expensive! 🙃🙃
Pick, cook, and eat. A very good combination. Yummmm. I have my grandfather’s camera and was in the midst of selling it on Facebook marketplace when the buyer wouldn’t work out a good time for us to get together. I wouldn’t meet a stranger in the parking lot of a bar at 10:30pm in December. Nope, not happening. Said he wanted it for a Christmas gift for his girlfriend. Well, I still have the camera and still cherish it. I don’t think there’s any old style film available these days. I did get rid of all of my dad’s cameras. But not all of mine!
As to the power to the air conditioner, the supplier I am with has a special box installed so that whenever the load on the system gets high in the summer between the hours of 2pm and 7 pm, they cut out the power to the cooling portion of the air conditioner but the fan is suppose to continue running. I don’t think that’s true. We had a short power outage just before noon today. We will see what else happens. 😉
Hope you are having a good evening.
Lin🙋🏼♀️0 -
Good grief Lin, that man who wanted to meet you in a car park late at night was either totally insensitive to womens’ safety concerns or a stalker!! Much better that you still have the camera. One of my dad’s is something called a Kodak Tele Disc camera rather than roll of film and I think was an invention that was a cause of the company going bust. They invested so much in it but it was a disaster and only lasted a few years so I expect dad couldn’t buy the discs even if he wanted! It’s probably not worth listing on eBay.
The Borough market isn’t expensive and I think you would love to have a mooch about and look at the different stalls.
That’s interesting about your a/c extra box. Sounds good in theory! 😄
Pick, cook and eat went well and I’ve finished with a choc ice!
Stay cool.
Jackie0 -
Sunny and muggy uncomfortable! Which means a chicken salad for dinner and a lazy day…I should try to be more productive. I do better in the evening when I should be getting ready for bed. It is cooler and I chug around in my nightie doing little chores. I know! Scandalous!
Last night I was in our bedroom with furniture polish, dust cloth, and one of those long dusting things with the fuzzy attachment. This at 10:00 until 10:45 pm. Then wash face and hands, lotion and brushing teeth, etc. etc. Crawled into bed at 11:30 pm. What is wrong with this picture?
Anne: if you lived with someone like John this mystery would have been solved days ago. John would simply March up the neighbors front door and knock. He would have some cover story about wondering if he could help in some small way. So will they be staying? Selling? Family moving in? He would then help carry some boxes or bring over cookies and sandwiches? When I call him nosy, he grins and tells me it is important to be supportive for a safe neighborhood.
Jackie: your painting project sounds like my kind of adventures. Also the collection of glassware that is not used and will never be used and was not ever used very much. But I can’t seem to let go it. Great looking tomatoes. We use a lot of tomatoes, I hope we are never forced to give them up. I also really like that pretty dish the tomatoes are in.
Lin: so few people have a/c here in our area, we don’t have the electricity emergency at the moment. Our wind storms often take out a line or transformer in the winter. Then everything goes dark for sometimes a couple of days. But we have wood stoves for heat and we can cook on them if needed. I am so glad you are very cautious about meeting strangers to sell things. That is way too scary and dangerous. I know lots of people do that but also there are times things go terribly wrong.
Checking up on our grown up kids! Will call them to see what mischief they are getting into!

Good morning. We are back from another soaking doggy walk but it does seem to be brightening up now. I’ve a hair appointment at midday and will do a bit of grocery shopping on the way home. Car fuel is a lot cheaper in that town so if the queues aren’t too long I will top up.
Patsy, perhaps one day a tipple of sherry or fancy cocktail will become fashionable again and wouldn’t we both kick ourselves if we had removed those glasses from their home in our cabinets!
The dish for my tomatoes is from my maternal grandparents set given to them as a wedding present in 1917. They spent over 60 years sitting in a dark cupboard until I inherited them and decided they were made to be used. Getting rid of the cheap, plain white, made in China set that I replaced was definitely not a difficult decision!
Coffee finished so I will get myself organised to go out.
Jackie 🥰0 -
Happy Wednesday! It's going to be a hot day but storms maybe coming later. I have no plans to go out unless I decide to go to pool for an hour later. I have to prepare my talk for tomorrow so will see how long that takes me. Sitting was okay yesterday, Max was not listening as well as he should have so he got in a little trouble with his dad and I of course felt bad for him. I hate to see the kids cry but they do need discipline.
Jackie, sorry you got soaked again, that can't feel good at all. Good luck with your hair appointment, any new color???
Patsy, I am a night person and do strange things as well so don't feel scandalous. Most of the time I am in my jammies until noon before I take a shower unless I have to be some place earlier.
Lin, I guess we are fortunate here because my A/C runs all day long and we have no restrictions. In the house they used to restrict water to certain days of the week depending on whether you had an even or odd number on your house. In this community I rarely see anyone watering grass even though the water to do so it part of the association where the water in the condos are a separate bill.
Anne oh Anne where art thou??
Have a good day and keep cool.
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
Hello everyone. We are in the 90’s again today but so far not so high as yesterday. We did get to 99 on Tuesday but are only expecting 93 degrees F today. They said we might get some rain but not really rain. I was picking a few cherry tomatoes this morning and got plunked with about 6 drops of rain. That was it. That is not rain so I will be out with the hose later this evening. I believe several of the suburbs have restrictions on running the built-in lawn irrigation systems. Only certain days and certain times. People in my neighborhood just get out their hoses and water whenever they want to. Seems a waste of water to try to keep a lawn green but some people cannot stand it. My lawn crunches when I walk on it now.
I spoke with my farm renters yesterday. We settled on $$ rent for next year. Glad to have that over I guess I didn’t fight or argue or even disagree. I went with the flow. That was totally unexpected, it is so early.
A friend called this morning and we had an extended conversation about her husband’s health problems and hers as well. They want to visit their son on the West Coast but they cannot figure out how they can travel that far with all their health problems and special needs. Her husband just wants to ignore all the practical issues and pack a bag and just drive. This from a guy who is current wearing a heart monitor, has low blood pressure issues, a-fib, has to use a c-pap machine, and also has chronically low blood sugar which causes him to shake and nearly pass out. Well, they cannot come to terms so we will see what they do.
Yes, I am working on cards again today. But I am assembling Thanksgiving cards now. About 15 left. Then they all need a sentiment inside. Got to move it, need birthday cards soon! 😄😁😄
Sandy, hope you are having a good day. I think I heard your pool calling to you.
Jackie, how did the hair turnout? Like it? Get some supplies? I did look up Borough Market. Oh my, interesting food stalls and vendors. The price of gas has gone down here which is lovely as I need to get some in the next week or so.
Hello Anne, Patsy, and Barbie.
Take care everyone.

Hello friends. We are under a storm alert warning and its ruddy hot. Jilly and I went out into the garden very early before the heat started up and I actually got one flower bed weeded. The weeds were out of this world. 12 inch high clover etc. I almost filled a large gardening bag before the heat drove me and Jilly the Bean inside.
So its been a sort of quiet day after that little back aching task. I've managed to keep the a/c off until just now.
Now Sneakers do any of you make sourdough bread from a starter kit? I've just been reading all about it on the internet and the starter is supposed to be easy but it looks complicated to me.
And talking of kits what do you put in an emergency kit? PATSY and LIN are the experts I gather. I suppose water is a must-have plus ones debit card etc. Maybe energy bars and a spare pair of underpants wouldn't come amiss. Dog tucked under the arm [in my case] and a flashlight? I mean do you get advice on what to assemble if you live close to fires and tornados?
Poor Max SANDY! Bean sympathizes because Mike tells her off [and me] for grinning [yes she really grins!] at me for treats and of course I can't resist the happy little face. Mike says she will get fat and I have to agree there is great danger in this happening to her [and me if it comes to that with biccys]. Us two single gals look after ourselves!
So JACKIE did you get a different hair colour job? Hope the not very nice neighbour and her biting pooch are keeping indoors as you tend to your plants, chickens, bees, and the pet family.
Well time for supper before the bang bangs [Bean knows them as bang bangs] drown out the telly.
Anne.
PS. Helen my Aussie cousin was upset when we talked earlier. She has beautiful wavy hair and she asked a new hairdresser to give her a very light trim. Her usual girls were on holiday and this was the owner. She said the owner had a good old moan about everything in sight as she wielded the scissors and Helen has finished up with a buzz cut. We agreed she will save money for several months.0 -
Anne, here you go.
There are loads of pre made kits but I have many more things I would want in case I cannot come back here (house in ruins) and I have no place to go (no family or friends to take me in). This is a good starter kit but I also want to grab my prescription drug, electronics, chargers, CASH (don’t count on ATMs working) extra jacket and a few clothing pieces, life straw, extra canned water, Solo stove, matches, lighter, etc. Since I have problems with regular food, some shelf stable food items that fit my criteria need to be included. I also take my checkbooks, a USB plug-in with essential files including one with logins for all of my accounts. Extra glasses and sunglasses as well. And face masks, antibacterial wipes and Kleenex or handkerchiefs.

Oh my! LIN. That's astounding! I wouldn't think of half those things! Can you buy the ready made back pack and from where? It would have to be a back pack for me with no car. I've never thought of an emergency kit before but one wonders today with earth warming.
Not to frighten anyone, but did anyone read the stark warnings on BBC the other day? It was about human extinction.
'Nuff said on that gloomy prediction, hope to return later with a happier post after grocery delivery.
Please look after yourselves,
Anne.

Goodness, no wonder Patsy keeps adding to her emergency bag! If it was ever me I would plan as if I was going on a camping trip with the pooches plus a bag of Brady’s kibble if he agreed to go with us (I have my doubts but then he is an able hunter!). Of course, I’m with Anne on the spare undies! Most important documents like property deeds and medical history in the UK are now stored on computers so my driving licence should be enough ID. On Tuesday night I misplaced my iPhone and after hunting high and low, including the garden room where Brady was snoozing on a chair and calling the number with my landline in the hope I would hear it, I went to bed. Up early I began another search and this time found it on the floor under the chair Brady had been sleeping on so he must have been lying on it, muffling its ringing tone! What I did discover was how many contacts are stored on it and nowhere else, plus I would have no idea how to retrieve it all on to another phone so understand Sandy’s frustration getting Babe’s sorted.
I’m pleased with my hair and as you can see, there’s still a few coloured stripes running through. The grey is becoming lighter and almost bearable so I may let the colour grow out… there again!
The dog owner has gone away so no confrontations yet but I’ve checked our Dangerous Dogs Act which confirms I should have reported the incident to the police so one angry word from her and that’s what I will do. I’m only hesitating because she is the sort of person who would never move on and be a constant angry bee in my ear when all I want is a peaceful and safe life!
I must get on because I have many plans in my garden and so far, all I’ve done is repot a spiky cactus and pick a few more tomatoes. I will check in this evening.
Jackie 🥰

Anne, that is a backpack kit. I would plan on having a car so I haven’t worried about the weight of the bag but I probably shouldn’t count on that. That kit is a backpack from REI.
Jackie, wow, looking great. Wonderful haircut as well. Happy gardening. 🙋🏼♀️ And thank goodness you found the phone.
And as far as future on this planet, I keep hearing very dire predictions but cannot say I saw the BBC article.
Must get moving.
Lin 🌻🌻0 -
Keep away from the article LIN. Mind you it won't affect you and even less me. Lets just say that the two Ms, Michael and the two grandsons will be okay as long as they don't produce children who would be my great grands. Selfish thoughts on my part but somewhat comforting to know!
Thanks for the very useful info. I think I shall just put aside a few items weekly like bandaid, a few paper notes etc just in case and buy a back pack. No tornadoes here last night, but I would guess further north in our tornado alley.
Your hair looks lovely JACKIE. I have a feeling you will look very pretty with light grey hair. Mine is still changing and I wonder if I ever will go completely grey or white. My mother kept her light
strawberry blonde all her life until 91. I leave mine alone because I read somewhere that our hair tone reflects our changing skin tone. Blends in as it were.
Other than that not much going on here. The groceries arrived with a free gift of a can of diced tomatoes - wouldn't you guess! Jilly made a new friend in the shape of an elderly grey bearded delivery man who was very nice. We are supposed to get more storms this afternoon.

Happy Thursday! Forget the doom and gloom, I am going to be a great grandmother in December and I am more than excited. There has always been doom and gloom from the beginning of time and generations came after that. I have to think positive because I want my grandchildren and great grandchildren to grow up and survive in a wonderful world. Maybe there will be space travel and they can find a new environment and live happily ever after. I can dream can't I?
Anne, don't worry, be happy ( hope you know that song). Free diced tomatoes, is that a good thing?
Jilly loves everyone doesn't she? She is a sweetheart.
Lin, nice backpack filled with supplies. Wonder what the cost is for all those supplies. Something I never thought about. I guess I live in my own rosy world even though the news tells me different. Taking one day at a time works for me, I can't worry about the future as I have no control.
Jackie, love the new do and the color looks great.
Patsy, hope things are improving in Portland and you and John are okay.
Time to eat and get ready for meeting. Have a good day.

Anne, did you see the horrendous tornado and tennis ball sized hail in Calgary a couple of days ago? Hundreds of damaged cars with dents and smashed windscreens. I haven’t had a chance to look at the BBC news app today. Perhaps best not to!
Jackie 🥰0 -
The tomatoes will be donated to the ever hungry Michael tomorrow seeing I'm not supposed to eat them. I've just baked a bacon and egg pie to have cold with a salad tomorrow if he rolls up.
Happy congratulations SANDY. Great grandma, wow! No, to be honest I don't overly worry either because as you say, what can we do. Just was curious if anyone else had read the article.
Yes, I saw the tennis ball sized hailstones JACKIE. Hope nobody got hit with one if they dented cars and smashed windscreens. Mother Nature appears to be getting her own back doesn't she. It was 50C in Iraq today. Mark and I agree, so far we live in a fairly secure spot on planet earth. Our next thunderstorm is at 6.

A hazy day today. The smoke from the Oregon-California wildfires is coming right up the coastline. We have a weird golden hue to the light and it is very hazy. It blocks the heat from the sun. However it plays havoc with my allergies and asthma. Today I will be going about rather slowly. I might have to pop an allergy pill. Not something I like to do. But in am emergency there is also the inhaler. Yuck!
I do read the news. I write my congressman and I donate $$$ to causes that support. I go to town hall meetings and let those we elect know about our concerns. I may not really make a difference but it feels like I do. Science has solved problems like those vaccines and meds and medical advances we depend on. The internet for example has made life bearable for us during pandemic. So yes! We are in trouble. Yes, there are scientists and environmentalists working feverishly to solve many of these issues. I support them and would support allocating my tax dollars to their efforts. I feel very uncomfortable not knowing what can be around the corner. I know that’s just me. I feel knowledge and competency really is power. We each cope in our own way. I do tend to run around with my hair on fire!
My emergency pack is a small laundry tub with handles. Easy to grab as we head out the back door. Stuff for John-Patsy-Katie to try to survive if we need to. Ours is related to the 5 separate wildfires burning right now in Oregon, not to mention in Washington right across the bridge. Like I said before, we all do what works for us.
