For an hour this afternoon Jim the handyman worked in a t-shirt but by 4pm a cold wind had picked up. Nice while the warmth lasted! Of course with an open door flies and bugs were soon in my conservatory but luckily I had purchased a new net bug screen last Autumn so I fiddled with Velcro strips and in no time was blocking them out.
Poor Brady was still sleeping 12 hours after I discovered him on the sofa this morning but I decided to leave him to rest and hopefully recover rather than drive him to the vet this evening. He's still there and occasionally slowly, stiffly moves into a different position but I can't see any broken skin although the fur on his head and neck is caked in what feels like dry saliva which means a large mouth had a hold of him.
Buzz, oh goodness, isn't it awful how memories of past loved ones good or bad disturb our thoughts so much the older we get. I'm so sorry you have to contend with sad memories.
Sandy, amazing how much the kiddos have grown up, especially when I remember we were with you as each was born. Seems like only yesterday!! Another gorgeous photo. 😊
Lin, I'm finding so much talk of isolation and quarantine unreal but am slowly coming to terms with the idea our lives will be disrupted for a while so would say do what you feel comfortable with rather than under pressure to continue to meet up with groups. Horror stories coming out of Italy right now and that could be here and there in a week or two so risks arent worth it. Looking forward to a poultry auction Saturday morning but the last one I attended was jammed packed full of psople so I'm thinking "NO!"
Anne, I don't see anyone when I walk either and find it hard to believe dogs aren't getting their exercise in such a quiet area. Hmm, a freezer full of farm shop sausages could get boring after a week or so but at least I won't starve!

So now we are in a pandemic situation! About time the WHO acknowledged it!
My freezer is starting to get a bit full as well JACKIE. It's looking like a grave yard for chickens! Can't have the Bean starving!
Mark says the family is sticking around the hotel in Miami which is very quiet with all the conferences cancelled.
Our latest Canadian victim is a Dr at the local cancer hospital. Not good!
I guess poor Brady is in quarantine for a while as well.
It looks as if we are in for a few boring weeks but at least we can do a bit of isolated weeding as the weather warms.
It's funny BUZZ but however long ago there is still a little place in our hearts for folks we once loved very much.

Good grief! Can things get any less complicated and strange? I was under the impression we were in a pandemic several weeks ago...appearently I was mistaken. Things were not quite bad enough. Now they are!
We are trying to get things straightened up and as clean. We are lucky that our port commission and the coast guard are keeping the large tourboats away from our tiny mooring basins. That is to say, we do have a small hospital with 25 beds and very few doctors. A tourboat with more than one or two emergencies would overwhelm us.
Everyone is very nervous and wondering what comes next. Lots of people are fearing for their jobs. Does this feel like the depression our parents used to talk about? Pray for the planet.
Setting aside my hysteria for the moment, we had a sunny day and I think we are to have more. However spring is a fickle lady. She flirts with us and then runs and hides. Our son-in-law has a birthday soon, I am being rather tacky and giving a check instead of a gift. Shopping is a mystery these days.
Jackie: if dear little Brady is traumatized maybe your vet can offer a soothing pill or tablet to calm his fears. I know you are crazy with worry about your little guy. Could he have some internal injury?
Anne: I have wondered about wearing a scarf around my nose as well. They say it only helps if you are trying to keep your germs from infecting others. But then they say this virus is spread by small body fluid droplets from coughing or sneezing. Wouldn’t that mean a mask would keep these droplets from being ingested by us if wearing a mask? I am totally confused.

Just a quickie from me. I am very relieved that Mark and family have rebooked their flight and will hopefully be home Saturday evening. Mikes picking them up at the airport.
Must fly and eat my porridge before the groceries arrive and hopefully a flying visit from Dorio. No playing with "chase me" Jillys.

PS. PATSY, I'm trying the old fashioned trick of smearing a little Vaseline inside my nostrils. It works for me with flu and colds, so maybe it will work on the monster virus. Anyway, no harm in giving it a try before we venture forth.0 -
I was up and out early this morning to do grocery shopping but first off gave Brady a thorough check because he still hadn’t moved and that made it over 24 hours in the one spot. A gentle feel round his neck and shoulders before tickling his chin brought gentle purring then a stretch. He carefully jumped off the sofa and followed me into the kitchen where I gave him some breakfast but when I opened the door to check if he wanted to go out he peered in a rather scared way in spite of hearing the tweeting birds then headed upstairs to lie on my bed. The worst is over I’m sure as he did the right thing letting his body recover.
The supermarket was back to normal and by that I mean no more panic buying and people behaving in a civilised manner! I felt about to sneeze halfway round so did as recommended and put my face into the arm of my jacket... that stopped the sneeze!! 🤧
After yesterday’s pleasant weather we are back to a cold wind, hail, wet snow and heavy rain showers but I managed to dodge all that long enough to walk George and Betty on the moors. Then it was a drive to the vet to weigh Betty and hooray, she’s lost 35g or the equivalent of my bowl of porridge before I add water... She’s following mummy with her yo-yo weight!
Anne, it might be worth asking Dorio if he sanitises his hands between customers for his own safe keeping as well as his customers. His employer should be thinking about his welfare and supply a bottle. Even the vet had a dispenser on the counter for us all to use. Great news, Mark and family heading home. Any other time wouldn’t we all love to get stuck in Florida!!
Oh dear Patsy, I do so feel for you all as conflicting advice and information comes your way. A health official commented today, after your administration stopped all flights from Europe, such a step will make no difference and America is already woefully unprepared due to lack of testing. Probably a political move to deflect blame!
A day for decorating and staying away from cold winds.

Happy Thursday!
Robby has a low grade fever and headache so I won't be spending the night there. If he is better by morning I will go to sit, if not then no. I was with him Tuesday for my birthday so am deciding if I should go to meeting or not. I did go to bingo and my two friends and I won what is called the fish bowl. You write your name on pull tab tickets and if your name is drawn you win. We split the winnings and last night there was a ticket with $250 in there along with another $9 so we won $88 each. Doesn't happen often that a big ticket is in the bowl so we were very lucky. 
It really is hard to decide what to do with this virus. I refuse to stay home in a bubble although at times that sounds great. How do you know if you have been exposed, it could come from anyone, people who don't even know they are sick. The couple from bingo who came home from Japan are in self quarantine for 14 days. I was glad to hear that. However, there were over 50 people in the bingo hall, we have plans for St. Patrick dinner and our casino trip. Do we cancel everything and put our lives on hold? I would not go on a cruise but I also have travel plans in April. Other than losing my shirt in the stock market I will just go on with my life, when it is my time it is my time. I will update you if that changes. lol
Time to eat, I think I will go to meeting it brings me back to sanity.

Midday news here, our prime minister and his wife are self isolating as they await results of tests. His wife had just flown back from London so it's maybe flu. The leader of the opposition is also isolating awaiting results. 17 new cases here overnight with one being a little child in a day care.
Dorio didn't show for the second week running.
I live a very dull life, it really can't get much duller so I don't have to make huge decisions concerning vacations etc. The big St Patrick's parade is cancelled. Most things are cancelled.
I hope it's not my time! SANDY! I'm far too nosy and want to know what happens next!

Hello, bubble girl here. I am cutting way back on events and going out. And granted, if it is my time, then nothing will prevent that. But I am cautious about being around people all during flu season and leave when anyone seems ill. So this is just a bit more of the same type of behavior. Haaaa.
I finally got my property tax checks written and drove them down to the post office to mail. I am starting to hunt for a new bank. One that I use is being sold to another banking institution that I really do not like at all so I will see what I can find over the next few months.
Also am starting work to die cut some pieces for upcoming cards.
Have also read a good portion of the book “Becoming Mrs. Lewis.”
Anne, no Dorio again? And I have a very uneventful life but it is fine with me.
Jackie, oh thank heavens your darling Brady finally moved. Wow, he must really have been in a brawl to lay low that long. Our weather is quite windy today and we go from partly sunny to back to just overcast. Apparently this will continue we we may even see a bit of snow again by Sunday. Really? Our stores are not back to normal as far as I could tell yesterday with nary a bit of hand sanitizer, but a there were several packages of toilet paper. My friends tried to do a couple of errands after work last night and at a huge Walmart there was nothing but empty shelves in the toilet paper section. They were frantic with 4 people in the house, 2 bathrooms and down to the last 3 rolls. Spot shortages on alcohol, aloe vera, disinfecting wipes, shelf stable foods, oat milk etc. Those are just some things I happened to notice after hearing about the shopping frenzy.
Sandy, congrats on the win at bingo last night. That is great. Very sorry to hear Robby is unwell. I hope he feels better soon. Good idea to go to your meeting.

Patsy, I am glad they did not use your port. Your medical community would have been overwhelmed. And although many people were saying the virus was spreading like a pandemic, there was no official call. I believe Dr. Sanjay Gupta went ahead and started to call it a pandemic before the WHO used the term. Anyway, so here we are. Our President has been exposed once, maybe more than once. He sounds horrible and I have been wondering if he has been fighting a cold or sinus problem. We will see I guess.

Sorry about my last post, which followed a video chat with my son, whose furniture was packed and sent to Florida, and he just learned that they will not be allowed into our country for at least 60 days! I wonder what happens to his finances since his job in Germany is finished and will the job (both Federal) in Florida still be held for at least 2 months? My computer lost much of that post and I was running out of time to get to my PT so I didn't fix it
! In the meantime, before I could take the elevator up to therapy, I was sent to a desk where my temperature was taken, my throat examined, and several questions regarding recent whereabouts were asked. The buildings looked empty of people! And we are being asked to order room service (at no charge) for meals. I'm glad I voted by mail, as our building is not a voting center this year. I hope my accountant will be allowed in on Tuesday, and that he doesn't object to temperature checks!
I also learned that our granddaughter's wedding will be greatly impacted in 3 weeks, since her fiancee is Chinese and many of her guests were coming from China! I have been unable to travel so already sent regrets.
I have been reading all your posts and am sorry it is once more too late for individual comments, but have been concerned for all of you. My eyes are refusing to remain open! Buzz

Our prime ministers wife has the coronavirus so Justin remains in quarantine as well. I think she caught it in London with Justin's mother at some conference. Which just goes to show you shouldn't get too pally with your mother in law! Just joking, I loved mine!
Michael said he went grocery shopping yesterday and he said there's not a toilet roll to be seen.
As for me, I will just be glad to have all my little family home. The Ms hop on a plane hopefully tomorrow. I hope they enjoy the Florida sunshine today, 41 deg. here.
If my life is happily quiet there's plenty going on in the world to keep the brain occupied I must say!
That's awful bad luck for your son BUZZ! I thought the US was letting its citizens get home?
How's Brady doing JACKIE? A good sign if he's eating. Any sign of the car yet?

and SANDY just take a little extra care. I know! We can get this thing just by opening the front door. It's hard being confined when one is so active, but better a few days of avoiding crowds than having difficulty breathing! You want many more years with those delightful grand children and they want YOU!
PATSY no giant ships docking in your harbour, and no hotels being taken over with quarantined people, well that's good news! Hope sincerely you two remain safe. Back to the subject of scarves worn around noses, I guess a bright colourful scarf could have folk keeping their distance from us!!!

Back from a beautiful stroll across the moors in sunshine but cold wind. Not a soul to be seen anywhere other than passing a couple of cars so I'm thinking this isolation should be easy for me to control. I hadn't mentioned before but I've been sneezing and snuffling for a few days with aching limbs and headache but woke up this morning feeling a lot better so am guessing it's just a slight cold.
The good news Anne about my car is that it has finally arrived at the dealership and I'll collect it next Thursday... I'm busy with George's groomer and a pedicure early in the week but must also clean and vacuum dog hairs from my old car. Brady continues to sleep his aches and pains away but did shout for his breakfast first thing and I heard the catflap around 6am so he must have ventured out at some point in the night.
It seems my government is following scientific advice on how to deal with the virus in the coming months and normally that's expertise I would prefer to follow but there are a lot of unknowns involved so I'm being a bit superstitious and adding crossed fingers!
Buzz I too thought your citizens would be allowed to enter the US. Of course what's likely to happen is every European wanting to visit your shores will travel via Britain and drop off their bugs on the way!
Stay safe and healthy everyone. This tight knit group needs to get through this and out the other side together. 😍😘

Just a quick comment on how easy it could be to catch this coronavirus. I put Jillys old battered bed out seeing its "big pick up" for household items. Peering out the window I saw it careening down the street in the wind like a flying saucer. So out I trot to catch it before it hits someone's windscreen. On the way, Barry the snow remover is coming towards me with his big dog Shelby. He stops to tell me that Maria my neighbour has hired him to replace the battered fence that divides our properties. I tell him there is a chance I could be moving but there again, maybe not with the virus slowing life down. At this point I notice he is very raspy. Don't worry says Barry I'm always raspy in a morning.
I guess he was an arms length from me, and it's probably nothing, but five days I think is the given time before virus symptoms appear. Watch this space!

Hello everyone. Right now we have some sunshine and temperatures just tipping over 40 degrees F. Apparently the forecasters are still set on the notion that we will have snow sometime tomorrow.
Did I mention our Thursday morning group has disbanded for the duration? Probably the best thing to do. I am being careful but I will admit I am walking a kind of odd line here. I am not willing to go all in on this. Just limiting events and times out, more caution in getting too close to people and I am disinfecting surfaces more often. But, I have not turned turned my life into a contagion movie with a safe house. My friend has. She, like me, is also older and has auto-immune issues. So we are alike. Same age actually. But no one is allowed in her house now except her husband and as he works part time, he must change clothes in the garage when coming home after work, leave his shoes out there, wash his clothes and take a shower. Packages have to be opened outdoors and the wrappings put directly in the trash. I can’t even remember the rest of her rules. She posts continuously on Facebook with more and more virus information.
Meanwhile. I am also irked at people who are not willing to even to try to help stem transmission. From this group I see and hear nothing but scorn and ridicule for anyone taking precautions. So there you have it.
Living in the no-man’s land of the virus.
Anne, you were outdoors, apparently not much danger even if he had it, which I doubt. It was nice of you to catch that doggie bed before it hit something. ❤️❤️ yes, all plans are up in the air with all of this. I hope we can stop this thing in its tracks!

Buzz, I don’t understand that either. As an American citizen, I thought the worst that would happen at this point is that they might have to do that 14 day quarantine if they had been in contact with someone who has the virus. Very strange.

A cold rainy day here. As I said yesterday, spring is a big flirt! She shows up briefly and promises to stay but then off she goes to hide for at least another week or more.
John did the really awful thing yesterday. He went disaster shopping. He bought as much as he could stuff into our car. This was pure panic buying. Costco was teaming with panicking people buying everything in sight. Seriously, it will take years to eat all this stuff. I think all the talk about visiting tour boats etc panicked everyone. Now I just hope John didn’t pick up anything, as he shopped to avoid getting the virus, by staying home. Hummmmmm...you've got to laugh at the odd logic here. Sort of...
We are all tough ladies with no small amount of intelligence. Yes, we are in that age bracket that classifies us as vulnerable, but we are coping. We will share any information that is pertinent, share a smile when we can, we will care for our family including both fur and feathered.

Only large airports to remain open, smaller ones closed. Screening of arrivals. All cruise ships banned, Canadians advised not to take March break in Florida. People who lose their salary because of coronavirus will be reimbursed for rent, food etc.
Parliament suspended. All in effect until 1st July for now.
I think that's the gist of it. I'll be very glad when Mark and family are home tomorrow evening.
Actually I was back inside LIN when I came back to the house for money to pay Barry for the last snow removal in February. He and Shelby peered through the front door talking and I stood back at arms length. Actually Shelby who is very large and the Bean who is very small had a great time barking at each other. I'm pretty sure I will be safe, I was just pointing out how easy it could be to pick up the germs.
PATSY, I'm imagining John staggering in with the emergency supplies. My Michael had an appointment in Cambridge, Ontario today and popped into a grocery store. Not a toilet roll to be seen there either, lol.
I guess when this is all over people will have so much toilet paper they won't be buying and the manufacturers will go out of business (you could say).

Happy Friday! Lisa said Robby is better, no fever but a little cough and he slept until 9am.
We decided Lisa would cancel her class today and I would stay home. I did go to my meeting yesterday and stopped at Walmart for a few items. I was careful and used hand sanitizer and wiped down my cart. Finally my daughter said they will not go on the cruise although she thinks most of this is media frenzy. On our local news channel our governor and mayor talked for about 40 minutes and explained any event over 250 is cancelled and most sporting events are postponed. I agree watching the news makes this all so much more scary but it is not air born and if we are cautious and wash our hands and not touch people we should be fine. Just to be safe I am taking emergen-c and today took mucinex because I felt my sinus's were filling up. (I do think I have allergies). I am also mailing in my vote for our primary so following some of the guidelines. I believe we are still going for St. Patrick dinner on Tuesday and still considering our casino trip since they sent an email with all their precautions. My Florida trip is the end of April and even though Bryanna wants me to stay home I will see how things are at that time. My friends son and his wife got to Hawaii on Wednesday only to be told that all activities were cancelled and the next day told they had to go back home. Since they couldn't get a flight for two days they at least had that. Crazy stuff going on but if we are careful we will be fine. Some people don't even know they have it and others just take care of themselves at home. Praying you all stay safe but still enjoy your life and what makes you happy.
On a separate note; They did procedure on Babe. His heart was functioning at 75% when he went in and is now at 45%. He and his son went to the worse possible scenario but today his son called with an update and said the doctor said it is not that bad and they hope to get it up with medication if he can tolerate it. Praying the medication works because they don't know what they will do if it doesn't.
