Happy Thursday! Just dropping in to say good morning. No time to chat.

I’m on my way to bed. The storms are over so we headed for the hills for a great walk this morning then at home I finally made the apple chutney after peeling a dozen of the fruit and adding sultanas, brown sugar, red onions and spices plus the secret ingredient, brandy! My afternoon with Les wasn’t quite what I hoped because his son and daughter in law were visiting and she spent the whole time complaining about everything in her life! Poor Les sat with his eyes shut because he had probably heard it all before.
I’m looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow and hope to get out into my garden although letting George out just now I see it’s raining!
Nite, nite

Hello, I signed up for a card makers summit. The opening meeting was today. Sessions, live Q&As with the instructors, luncheon sessions and an online crop over the next 3 days. Nine technique sessions each day. I am tired just thinking about it. 👀 I hope something is interesting. The opening session was tiring to watch as questions came in rapid fire.
The darn Covid shot has me dragging around although I did get out for a little while late this afternoon to pull weeds. Need to spend more time outdoors.
We have had two days of extremely heavy morning fog. This morning there were numerous accidents on the Interstates. I am glad I could stay home. I did go to the library a bit later when the fog had dissipated quite a bit. After I returned home, the power went out. In less than an hour, we had the power again. Apparently a contractor cut through an underground utility line and just under 6,000 homes lost power. Ooops!
Jackie, I hope you have some nice weather over the next several days. Temperatures are set to increase here to an unseasonable 90+ degrees F. Argh. Sorry your visit did not go well. The whiner probably saw you as a new sounding board for her grudges.
Sandy, hi🙋🏼♀️ hope you’ve had a good day.
Hello everyone else. If you do not see me much until Monday, the card making sessions were very interesting. 🤞🏻doubtful
Be safe.

Good morning everyone. So far I’ve enjoyed a relaxed start to my Friday walking across the moors with George and Betty and now sipping coffee while making plans in my head for the rest of my day. The young cabbage plants I bought a couple of weeks ago are in the greenhouse, still in their tray but something is eating the leaves. Every leaf has been turned over for inspection, and the tray, but no sign of the culprit! It is warm and sunny although nowhere near Lin’s 90F, thank goodness! We appear to be getting some misty skies in some parts of the country, caused by smoke from North American wildfires. A few weeks ago it was sand from the Sahara dropping red dust on our cars and. I doubt it will soon be our “friends” in the east blowing Arctic winds to freeze us!
Wow Lin, that’s quite a summit you’ve joined but how interesting! I can never keep up with live streams that show every comment flying up the screen so don’t try anymore. Hopefully you will come upon interesting topics that will give you fresh ideas, not that you seem to be running out, from what you tell us. Yes, Les’s DIL was exhausting as she didn’t seem to pause for breath and on the way home, when I stopped for a bag of corn for the hens, I came close to buying myself a sticky bun as comfort food but managed to talk myself out of it since I am once again trying to lose a few pounds!
Coffee finished and little Storm shouting in the chicken run so my first port of call will be the hen house.
Happy Friday. Stay safe.

Good morning (or whatever) everyone. Yesterday was interesting. I’ve hurt my foot, swollen enough so I can’t get my shoe on, which means no walkies for the Bean. So I hauled her into the lovely lounge instead where she could keep an eye on everyone. Well, the craft room is off the lounge and quite a lot of people were gluing and colouring around a long table. Each had a wooden cutout of a human figure about 10 inches long. These were being laboriously painted or having things like eyes stuck on. I guess you could use them as a bookmark. Some were quite inventive and clever, whilst one elderly gent showed me his which he labelled a scarecrow. Well yes! I mentioned to Joan, the craft teacher, I was into painting and drawing and she opened up a wonderland cupboard to show me. Stacked high with canvasses and paints and markers. Canvasses cost the earth but I can use for free because she gets them at discount! Jilly was so good she can “do” crafts as well, so you can imagine where we will be in the near future. Other than that a quiet day because my tum was wobbly from lack of greens I suspect. Mentioned it to the manager because I had to cancel dinner. She said a new fall menu comes into effect in October so she will see what she can do! So apart from a red throbbing foot, alls well here in the fast lane!
Anne.

Good evening. Day 1 of the summit is over. Tomorrow is a longer day although I don’t know if I have the stamina to stick with it for several hours more than today. I picked out a few speakers technique lessons and a few live Q&A sessions. Have found several things I plan to try, later.
Anne, my goodness, I am sorry to hear that you have hurt your foot. Can you wear a slipper? Or are you sliding about on a sock? I hope it gets better very soon. ❤️❤️ Wow, art supplies! Get in there and try some! That part is wonderful. They need to get more greens for you. 🥺
Jackie, a mystery pest attacking your cabbage plants. That is sad. We’re you able to work in the hen house today? What was Storm upset about?
Sandy, happy weekend trip!
Barbie, do you think this time your shots will not be cancelled? I am sure you would like to met that out of the way.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend.

I ate the last of the cherry tomatoes from our garden and Jake pulled up the pumpkin vines which certainly marks the end of the summer growing season. He has the three pumpkins in the kitchen with plans to bake them and freeze the cooked pumpkin to eat this winter. We planted 21 elephant garlic bulbs so we are starting the next season of growing. It's getting colder and we're spending more time inside. I love the changing seasons and have no favorites. Each day is a new adventure.
Lin, I spoke to our pharmacy and they said they have the vaccine so I feel good about our chances of getting it on Monday. My dog walking friend got her vaccine at another pharmacy yesterday so that adds to my positive feelings.

Pooped once again! Didn’t make it all the way through the last 2 hour crop but came relatively close. I couldn’t stand the continual chatter, my ears hurt!

Happy Sunday everyone. I was busy walking then working in my garden yesterday until rain arrived. Today’s mist and drizzle is keeping me in so time to clean and tidy. Nothing else going on which isn’t a bad thing!
Persevere Lin! 😁. Second from right teapot looks familiar so perhaps we had one when I was small.
Stay safe.

Happy Sunday! Back from out long weekend and just trying to catch up on computer plus washing clothes since I leave again Tuesday. We had a great time even though the ride to and from is six long hours. We ate, drank, played games and even went on a Pontoon ride even though it was a little chilly.
I did not sleep well there so I am exhausted but hope to make up some sleep tonight and tomorrow night before heading to the casino for three days.
I hope all are well and staying healthy.

Good evening. Well, 3 days of summit are complete but surprises emerged today. There are additional presentations and classes over the next few weeks. Wow, a bonus!
Glad you are home Sandy. I thought you were taking a short trip to the casino this weekend with your family. It looked like a nice place.
Jackie, no craziness sounds quite nice my friend.
Anne, this photo was taken near Oakville according to the photographer. I thought it was lovely.
Be safe everyone.

Good afternoon. We are surrounded by low cloud and drizzle again but I managed a busy morning with walking George and Betty before picking Sheila up and driving to a coffee shop on the highest point of the moors. No views there!! After dropping her back home I drove to town for more pet food and also a selection of cleaning items and spray paint for outdoor jobs. It’s extremely mild so doors and windows are open but the damp air is making joints ache so I’ll keep moving. Lunch has been skipped after my delicious spiced apple cake at the coffee shop and chicken salad is planned for this evening so hopefully I’ll soon see a couple of pounds disappear.
Happy Monday everyone. Cinderella must get on with her housework!

Happy Monday! Got some sleep and feel good. I have a dermatologist appointment this afternoon and then a few errands before sitting for a couple of hours and then coming coming home to pack for tomorrows trip. Busy times but keeping active.
Have a great day.

Well, life sure ain’t dull here. Sunday evening, dinner over, everyone back in their rooms at around 8pm and the overhead lights started flickering. Then whoosh, gone. Everything electrical gone. No air conditioner, no fridge, no microwave, no internet, no nothing. Actually it was rather scary in an unfamiliar place because the cedars outside my window blocked any remaining light. I hauled Jilly Bean into bed with me because it was pitch black and I couldn’t see my black little dog. Then I opened the blinds and we watched LINS moon across from us with some moonlight creeping into the room. Rather pretty I must say and I’d never have noticed normally. We couldn’t sleep because other residents kept opening and shutting doors. Finally the lights came on at 3:45am and we fell asleep. However, no internet for residents and office staff until todays lunchtime. So here I am writing to you just now. Jill’s catching up on sleep and I feel like joining her. Life in the fast lane,

Jackie, oh gosh, domestic chores! Any hint of a glass slipper hiding on your property? Spiced apple cake sounds quite good. We are headed to cooler weather but temps in the low 90s are just too high for October. Kerry was trying to walk the pooches this morning but couldn’t breathe. He went home and tested. Yes, Covid which he said doesn’t come as a surprise as it is running rampant in the Keswick area. I hope you aren’t seeing much of the darn bug.
Anne, wow, not a dull life my friend. Glad you saw the pretty moon but heck of a way to find the pretty view. Rest up. Is your foot feeling better?
Sandy, happy travels. Hope to hear from you later in the week.
Be safe everyone.

Santa!

Finally some sunshine so I was encouraged to drive into town early for a grocery shop before taking the pooches on to the moors. It was blowing a hooley up there which made walking quite difficult for me but George and Betty both loved it! September was apparently the warmest on record which I find difficult to believe after all that rain but I’m guessing they take a countrywide average and we do have our unique Atlantic climate!
It’s already midday and I have a long list of things I want to do. Quite a few domestic chores completed Lin but the elusive glass slipper is well hidden! A Santa teapot is almost as bad as the amount of Christmas stock already loaded up in the stores! I could have spent a fortune on festive cakes and chocolates but for some reason there wasn’t any crispbread for the 2nd week in a row! Covid is everywhere and apparently yet another strain! Recently, friends Christine and Richard, Linda and Les have all contracted it after a booster shot so I’ll plod on regardless! Last winter I took a daily Vitamin D3 tablet with my breakfast and will do the same this year whether we get sunshine or not.
Oh goodness Anne, please do ask Mark or Mike to buy you a small torch and pack of batteries. I keep one in my bedroom and another downstairs just in case because I think candles can be dangerous for us seniors! In fact it might be better for them to get you to battery operated table lamp with a bright LED bulb. Scary enough in familiar surroundings never mind your new home so take care in that fast lane!
Busy, busy Sandy so take care.
Coffee finished so my first job will be to check how much potting compost I’ve got because the Red Russian kale seedlings need to move into individual pots. Hello Barbie, Diane, Joy and Patsy.
Happy Tuesday.

Hearing about Anne's adventures in her new residence makes me think of some wonderful books I've read. They are written by Richard Osman and are about a group of pensioners living in a luxury retirement village called Coopers Chase. These four people formed a group called the Thursday Murder Club and have some amazing adventures. I highly recommend the books.

Barbie, I like those books too!0

Hello Tuesday. Just stopping in to say hello. Monday was the Medicare Wellness Exam and that includes the long questionnaire. I passed the memory test but only because it was so short and easy. My real life short memory is not too good. Today we had a new sleeper bed delivered, ready for our end of the year company. Tomorrow we have a new gardener coming over to work on the Palms and bougainvillia. We are excited about that. Thursday is my follow-up appt for my hearing aids. My first time to have the controls on an app on my phone. I thought I was pretty tech savy, but we cannot figure things out. Looking forward to that. Friday, eye exam….its been two years. I just get the medical because I dont get the sight exam since my cataract surgery and I got my implants. My son made airline reservations for the holidays. Most of the family will be able to make it. We are not certain about the San Diego clan.
I read a few of your posts to try and catch up. You are all busy!!
Hello Lin, Jackie, Sandy, Anne, and all you other Sneakers. Did anybody watch the Golden Bachelor?🤪
I am currently reading a new detective series that takes place in Scarborough.

Happy Wednesday. Another week flying by! Our morning walk was enjoyable and a long one so plentry of steps! Linda and I were going to meet up but she has had a bad reaction to her Covid jab to the extent she might as well have caught the virus! It does mean I can get on with more jobs outside because it’s mild and the sun is doing its best to shine. More seedlings to be potted on then maybe some pruning, although the shrubs are so confused by our weather they don’t know whether to stop growing and flowering or not. It’s having a similar affect on me!
Take care everyone.

Happy Wednesday!❤️ Won some money last night. Hope the same happens today! Have a great day!

Hello. A cooler day ahead. The start of a trend—we may have frost by Sunday morning. I have a number of things to accomplish but of course, I am waiting for a phone call from one of my bankers. I hope I am near the top of her list. 👀.
I also need to get a birthday card in the mail. I forgot next Monday is a holiday. Do we call it Columbus Day now or Indigenous People Day? Whatever no mail and I would hate for the lady to receive her card late.
I did some laundry yesterday and killed a nest of wasps. It was relatively new apparently as it wasn’t that large. Little wasps came raining down to the deck. Good old toxic spray.
The forecast called for rain last night. We did not receive any here. Darn.
I need to do some cooking. I am making some quinoa now and am looking to make some black bean burgers. I love the ones I get from a small company in San Diego but the cost is too high. Must cut back on ordering frequency.
Jackie, I am sorry Linda is unwell as a result of the Covid booster. We are all different in our responses to these things.
Sandy, you won money?! Wow.
Joy, you are also a busy bee. Everything you mention seems to purposeful and constructive. I feel like a flittery gal by comparison. 😎
Barbie, hope you and Jake are feeling well and your gardening is all complete for the year.
Anne, and I hope the power has stayed on. We had a very brief power flicker. Enough that I had to reset my microwave clock and reset a power strip. Everything else was okay. Is the grid becoming more unstable? Best wishes to you and the little one.
Waving hello 🙋🏼♀️ to the rest of the Sneakers. Be safe.

Good evening. It’s been a day of sorting through papers to find 3 bags full to take to the shred drop off on Saturday. I think I have finally gone through all of my father’s papers and I am only keeping those that pertain to the farm. All the rest is loaded up and ready to go. The stash was down to house construction papers and a few years of financial records and tax returns. I had already disposed of all business records and older tax returns. So something has been accomplished. 👍🏻👍🏻
It was quite chilly overnight but it warmed up to around 68 - 70 degrees. My friend is packing to go with family on an extended weekend vacation. They just plan to fish, rest and eat out. She really is hoping it won’t be too cold in their rental unit. That would be sad.
Welcome home Sandy.
I hope everyone is a-okay.
Time to make supper!

Another Friday! 😲. Yesterday was constructive in all sorts of ways and I managed to clear a list of small outdoor tasks that just needed me to concentrate on for a few hours. The deck was swept and hosed down for me to coat with preservative but I noticed the signs of algae and mould, no doubt caused by the wet summer, so I’ve just mixed up a cleaning agent and poured it over with my watering can. Hopefully we will continue to enjoy dry weather so it has a chance to kill off the green stain and I’ll paint next week. Of course George did his best to stand in the middle but a firm word he understands… AWAY, sent him into the garden room! We had a delightful stroll on the moors first thing, getting back to my car just in time as the cattle and calves were heading in our direction and I’ve noticed a new breed with long horns have been introduced! Both pooches are now snoozing so I’ll potter on and give my stone Buddha a clean and fresh spray of grey paint. The new trellises can’t be put up until a pack of wall plugs arrives in the post from Amazon. They seem to be using our postal system for smaller items in preference to couriers but it does take longer. A stock pot ordered on Tuesday arrived by courier yesterday so I’m all set for colder weather when I’ll make soups and casseroles. At the moment we are enjoying balmy temperatures so salads will do!
Gosh Lin, you have been busy but I hope clearing out those papers has you feeling relieved rather than sad. Lots of memories come with our parents’ things but I’m sure they wouldn’t want us storing them forever. That’s a pretty teapot although you have to wonder who would want to look at a half naked Centurion on his chariot every time a cup of tea was poured!! 😁
The sun has dried my deck and coffee is finished so back to work.
Stay safe.
Jackie 🥰

Happy Friday! I slept ten hours to make up for missed sleep and feel good. I am catching up on my computer and doing laundry. Later this afternoon I am going to an AA and Al Anon convention to work the hospitality room. Should be a fun event.
We had a great time on our little trip and look forward to another in March.
I still have a busy month ahead of me but it mostly all fun things and now my daughter is planning a Christmas cruise to celebrate her 60th birthday next year 2024. I am still thinking about it since I really don't know if I want to leave the little kids for Christmas but it is her special birthday. Hopefully, I am still alive next Christmas.
Have a good day and keep staying healthy.
