I didn't lose any pounds this week but I didn't gain any either I am still at 246 and my inches stayed the same as well. I know my week was pretty calorie dense. I ate more protein on the days I worked with the dumbbells and had a couple of major meals (guests over). I think I need to make some adjustments. I have not been weighing my food and ordered a scale on Thur. it should be here tomorrow or Wed. That should help as well. My baby step for this week is learning to use the scale and weigh everything I am eating0

I admire how you logged in each day and took stock of what you achieved good or bad barlovo. It's a great baby step.
Cindy, with all that snow did you manage to find a dietician?
A week goes by so fast and we are already at the beginning of February.
My baby steps this week are- eat nutritionally balanced each day - 50 carbs, 20 fat, 30 protein
- 10 000 steps 4 times this week
- Park Run on Saturday

Hi all
My baby step for this week is to resume tracking my food. I really had trouble tracking while travelling do I gave up. but even if it is not very accurate I need to resume tracking so I am more conscious of what I'm eating. I'm going to change my privacy settings so my diary is visible so I feel more accountable to post as I eat. Thx everyone! Let's all have a great week!!
I have my diary public, I hate it, but it definitely makes me think twice before I put something in my mouth. I don't want anyone thinking I eat nothing but fast food & candy bars.0 -

Barlovo; I have to track every thing and weight everything. Happy Tracking!0 -
Liz; that's the only way that keeps me accountable is tracking and weighing. Sorry you didn't lose. One thing Stace and I have been doing is drinking 8 ounces or 14 ounces of green tea daily and I swear it works. I've read that it burns and addtl 80 calories a day from speeding up your metabolism.
Alice; wow that's such low carbs. I have trouble staying under 150 but this site says I can have more however I know the less carbs the higher weight loss. Learned that one a long time ago so I understand why you do it but dang how do you do that lol0 -
aaliceinw~I did not even have a chance to look yet. Not so much because of the snow...more because my work partner is still in OK at training. So I am still working 7 days a week. I work overnights and have insomnia and my sleeping has been terrible lately. Between that and the snow I've been pretty exhausted!
Noodle~I did the same thing! Holds me completely accountable!
I have gotten good with my water and my step this week. I will continue to try for more veggies and looking into a dietician or nutritionist!0 -
We are awesome baby steppers! Our lives are changing for the good with every step!
My baby steps this week are to continue on my current path of healthy choices, water intake, and add the big E, exercise. I want to add at least two, twenty minute workouts this week.0 -
Hi Karen, I hate water so I make green tea ice tea and drink about 3/4 of a gallon a day I brew it like sun tea on the counter. I do need to weigh my food though, I am not getting it accurate measuring it in cups and spoons. It will be a new experience. The girls will be fine with it (they each cook twice a week). It is going to be hard on my husband Mark when he comes in off the road (he is an OTR driver). He loves to cook. I'll weigh and he can cook
Barlovo - Welcome home!
Cindy and Noodle - When you make it public, can only people on MFP see it or can others?0 -
Lol Karen! Sorry I should have added the % sign. And I got it the wrong way around, it's 50% carbs, 30% fat, 20% protein.0
-
MdwstQT~ We sure are!!! Every positive change is a small victory towards winning this war against fat and poor health!
Liz~ I have my settings set so only my friends here on MFP can see it. If you go to the food tab and go into settings you can set it to what you would like. Some people put theirs out there for everyone but I only want my friends to have mine available for them to see.
aaliceinw~ How do you change your settings for your percentages?0 -
I changed my diary to friends and sent friend request to those of you I have not friended yet0
-
Go to Goals and look for you Nutrition Goals Cindy. You can change them and your macro nutrients there.0
-
Thanks I found them! I upped my protein and decreased my carbs by 10% each...hope that helps! Trying to stay sustained a little longer...0

Hi everyone
We are such an inspiring group! I'm reading all these baby steps this morning and I'm going to go take a walk!0 -
Awesome barlovo!
My scale came yesterday afternoon. Mark came in before supper. We made stir fry and I weighed everything out. He was really good about it, he even donated one of his on the road containers to leave on the scale as the tare bowl. It will take some practice, but I feel more confident in my logging0 -
Sounds like everyone is doing great. I've been a very bad girl the past few days so I'm getting back on track today. I even changed my background screen on my computer with a weight loss quote so every time I log on I have to read it LOL.

Oops, he cussed not me!0

Let me know how it goes Cindy. That's how I finally started losing a little bit of weight initially after stagnating for 5 weeks and I also upped my total calorie intake from starvation to merely hungry
Barlovo well done! Exercise was my very first baby step. 6 weeks later, from couch potato, I actually ran 4.4km today for the first time in my life! I have actually not ran since I was a kid in school!
I hope you enjoy learning about nutritional values Mysticlizard. I'm finding out a lot of fascinating things about food since being on MFP and I haven't even got around to weighing yet. Good luck with it.

I like weighing my food versus using cups & spoons. I feel like I get a more accurate caloric count of what I'm consuming and I have less dishes to wash, which is a real plus.0
-
Barlovo~ Love knowing that we are helping motivate you! That was the point of this group!
Liz~ What scale did you go with? I haven't gotten to the point where I am weighing things yet...but I will eventually. I always lie to do research before choosing something new. Dd you do an research to choose a brand?
Karen~ Great idea...we actually had the same thought...I started a motivation thread here last night...periodically I will post new ones!
Aaliceinw~I haven't stalled but I already know my body enough to know higher protein, lower carbs works better for me! I'm hoping to avoid a stall!
Have a FAB_U_LOSS day my friend!!0 -
Cindy,
I often do research before buying a product. This time I saw one on eBay for 9.95 and free shipping. For ten dollars I figured I would learn to use it then decide what features I might want when I need to replace it. The one thing I did know is I wanted one with a solid surface so it would withstand spills, we are messy in the kitchen. I just know that for me, I needed to get measuring my food because that is one area I could tighten up and not have to wonder if that is making a difference in my weight loss. I had been trying to over estimate calories so I was safe. This is the one I bought

I am pleased with it. It does several different measurements but I am leaving it on grams.
I feel much more confident in the amount of food I am eating and logging. I also know if I can have that extra rice cake or not without worrying. Mark has been home and eating the same portions as I am and asking what the calorie count is. If he's not careful, I will get him a scale for the truck for Christmas lol.0 -
Liz~ LOL...he may just like that gift! My hubby rolled his eyes at me when I mentioned getting the scale. But I'm getting one any way!0
-
Cindy; I don't know what I'd do without my scale. It has really helped me with portion control. It also has helped me with knowing if I was eating too little of an item . Fruit was a shocking discovery. What is a medium size to some when weighed it weighs in as a large apple.

I love my food scale I have the mainstay brand that I bought at target for $10.00 ...I love the tare feature0
-
what is the tare feature for? I have it too but have no idea what to do with it lol0
-
The Tare zeros out the scale. You can also put a bowl or plate on it, hit tare and it will go to zero, add food, weight it, hit the tare button, it will zero the plate and food, then you can add another food and get its weight, and repeat as many times as you want. I have put a pot on the scale and mixed my spaghetti sauce weighing each addition. It really saves on doing dishes.0
-
OH yes, sorry brain fog. We use that feature. I put the bowl on then turn it on and it zero's out. Its a great feature. Thank you0
-
I ordered my scale tonight...it weighs up to 5lbs and has auto tare...as well as the button features. When I am on the computer and not my phone I will share a link...it was only $12...free shipping...had GREAT customer reviews!0
-
Awesome Cindy!0
