    Hi Jan
Today I’ve been semi-productive. Mowed and weedwacked the backyard. Plus naps and more Columbo.
    Hi Val
I thought You had mowed and Wacked the other day ?

How are the record temperatures in Texas affecting You, Or are You lucky ?

    Have a Nice Restful Day

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. It was vegan, so probably won’t sound good to you, but i had a new type of veggie burger (hemp, sweet potato, coconut curry) in between two slabs of lettuce with humus on one side of the “burger” and guacamole on the other. Decadent and filling with zero guilt.

I posted more humor a few minutes ago

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The Temperature out the door was 75 degrees and It was uncomfortable walking due to high humidity. The Rain forecast for overnight happened and the rain had ended before I left the house. As I was approaching the store to pick up my coffee I saw a Deer heading across the street I was on and heading down the street behind the store. I could see that we already hit 100% for rain when I left the house, It is drying outside currently. OTOH if the weather today is like Monday's then we will be having bands of rain going through all afternoon.

When I am walking I sometimes see Instant Lottery Tickets so I pick them up, Scratch off bar code and check them occasionally, In last weeks batch I found a Instant winner that someone had discarded worth $5 so You could say I found $5 :)

    Hi Val
I see rats scurrying around in NYC on the TV News broadcasts. If New York City is a distant second to Chicago, how bad is Chicago ? Yuck !
I though Hemp was what they used to make rope in the past ? I was looking at a Local Place and they mention that their low carb Burger uses a lettuce wrap and are available with a veggie burger, Then they blow it since the burgers come with french fries

I think I would want to taste it before committing to spending my money, I would try it on that basis however.

    Have a Nice Day

Congrats on the $5.00 find! You’re correct that hemp is used to make ropes...I should have specified hemp seeds. I know that is not for everyone. But I especially liked the moisture from tge hummus and guacamole rather than the typical mayo. This morning I feel like eating...but im not hungry! So, patiently waiting for 10:30 to break my fast. I’m still really liking this...I guess I’ve had lots of experience fasting with all my medical tests, so ny brain is just accepting the fasting rule as uf it is for a medical purpose and therefore I need to comply.

    Good Morning!

I was so dead tired from Friday, Sat. and Sunday that Monday was tricky. I cleaned up in the morning and was supposed to do some things in the afternoon, but could not get them done. I realized as I climbed into bed I forgot to write but was so tired I could not getup, lol...

I woke early at 5 am and was getting up at six anyway. I made it to Panera for our ladies little group where a raspberry almond cookie called my name. :) I was a little over my calories last nite as I used some left over rice to make some really good fried rice, veggie but good stock, too. Ate more servings than I should have. OOPs... :#

Roger, I was going to say finding that ticket was like winning the lottery...But you did...I can not believe someone just threw it away! But good for you!! :)

Val, I like some veggie burgers and some I don't. Depends on the brand and ingredients. But I do not mind trying them either. The guacamole and humus sound yummy! I love both! Congrats on your loss! <3

That French town is ridiculous if they can not fund teachers and education. Not surprising they became rich by being selfish...Sad about the duck boat. It does not surprise me they moved to avoid the unions and I am sure the safety issues are a real issue, even without the lastest incident.... :/ The beginnings of unions, they are always needed, it seems... then they become too powerful or corrupt usually..often?

Sorry the humidity is so high your way, Roger. We are just hit and miss, oddly for all the rain we have had..

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The Temperature out the door was 77 degrees and It was uncomfortable walking due to high humidity as I headed out the door. Then it started drizzling after a block of walking. 1 block further on the rain became heavier and was still falling heavily as I returned home.

Been there done that as far as energy goes, Sometimes You Get up and Go, gets up and goes.

One of my brothers suggestions for left over rice is to use Chicken Stock and if available Chicken to be the base for Chicken Soup.

The Winning ticket when I looked at it had never been scratched off, I suspect someone oops-ed it. It is also not the first winning lottery ticket I have found so I keep an eye out for them.

The Veggie Burgers I tried were all terrible, one of the few foods that were so bad neither my Brother or I could eat them so they got thrown out. I was likely not lucky in my choice ?

I was wondering how house prices were in that french town with a eye to moving there until I read the rest of the article.

I was a Union Member for 14 years, originally that union was needed. By the time I was a member they were corrupt, when the head of the local retired his son inherited the position. Union meetings, if anyone tried to complain about the wrong thing, they were given the bums rush.

Humid for several days more. Overnights in the 70s.

    Have a Good Day

    Good morning!

I had a hectic morning! My yard guy came as I was planning to shower and wash my hair, so I had to wait till he was done. I skipped the hair due to time but it did better than I thought, We went to the tea house and had a great time. The place seems a little neglected, but the tea room and gift shop were really nice. The yard needs to be taken care of and it would be really cute. The tea was fabulous and pristine however. We had salad with tea sandwiches of chicken, pimento cheese, and cucumber. We also had a wonderful sandwich with cinnamon and butter and something else. It was yummy and I scarfed that down so I can not remember what all was in it, lol... I also has two little dessert scones. We had a pot of tea with hibiscus, papaya, rose and other fruits. It all was really good served on old china that was really pretty. Great lunch, but I wish the lady running it could fix up some of the house and previously mentioned yard. It seemed like just her and her daughter, so it made me wonder. The room advertised as a rental room for bed and breakfast was filled with clutter and linens, an ironing board and a few boxes. You would think they would close the door though so customers would not see it. It seemed like they were tired and could only keep up the few rooms, and not have to climb the steps and used the B&B room for convenience. I am guessing they are not renting it out much. Sorry to make this long, but such a weird mix of happy and kind of sad....

Val, sounds like you are doing well so far! Some days just come up and you struggle. Maybe add some protein? You have really done well!

I think the whole article about middle age being a myth seems a myth... :# Each paragraph seems to start to refute that, but the reasons actually seem to support the myth physically, not the dispersal of that myth...Might be me, though.. lol! ...I used to spend a lot of the day outside growing up. I am not surprised by the statistics however... :( Well, drive thru pot is good for the people who suffer from pain and have mobility issues. However, I sure do not hold the opinion it is harmless.. Interesting articles.... :)

I did indeed post more humor, The first one is because of the heat wave

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The Temperature out the door was 74 degrees and It was uncomfortable walking due to high humidity as I headed out the door. I could see that it rained overnight, however the streets and sidewalks were starting to dry up. I was just looking out the window and the sky looks like more rain could be on the way :(

I did Laundry Tuesday and as soon as I get some motivation back I need to take the clean sheets and put them on the bed so I can wash the old ones. First thing is the printer table as I also use it as my desk to write checks and I have two of them to write so I can mail them tomorrow :)

Yesterday I was rolling the Old Radio Shack Printer Table over in front of the TV I use a larger 42 inch Monitor when the Bar that the wheels are mounted to on one side came off. So now I need to take everything off of it so I can turn it upside down and reattach the wheels. It is sort of old since I bought it back when the home Printers were either Dot Matrix or For really nice looking is slow printing Daisy Wheel Printers. I did make something to block the opening where the pin feed paper came up so that the keyboard, Mouse etc. did not fall through. Call me cheap but I want to fix it rather than replace it if I can even find something that size with wheels.

    Hi Val
I found the Pain killer and Dementia link interesting that I just posted, Then Last night the TV news coverage was about a medication that has been developed that slows the effect significantly.

Boredom has that effect on me too, If it were not for the Sodium levels I would drink Bullion as I am not a big tea drinker.
This morning as I was feeling less than energetic I selected the Extreme Caffeine from the many selections at the local Quick Chek to drink while walking

Speaking of air ducts getting them cleaned is a good idea, We do not have them and that makes me wonder where all of the dust comes from. The front 1/2 of the house gets very dusty and the back 1/2 is more or less dust free. Anyway the other day my brother was going through papers and he found a manual for a Honeywell Hepa Filter stand alone device and said I think I saw that in the dining room corner. Sure enough it is amd it is now in a corner of the living room running.

I have posted more humor (??)

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The Temperature out the door was 72 degrees and It is still uncomfortable walking due to high humidity. As I headed out the door it felt OK for a couple of blocks then the humidity started making an impact :(

As far as getting my steps in, I am behind. OTOH I plan to head out to the Whole Foods, I like their Butter for example and then onto the ShopRite for the Low Calorie Bread as I have two slices left and they are starting to get dried out. So Two Parking Lots and two Grocery Stores at a minimum later on.

    Hi Jan
I'm with You, AC all the way, I turned it on before walking most of this week to cool off the house from the overnight interior rise in temperature. With the Temperatures overnight and the humidity I have been wondering what the heck am I doing heading out daily

The Main Floor is a in the wall 220VAC AC and it does a decent job. We could have had central air if all the hot air ducts had not been removed many years ago when the heating was changed to Hot Water baseboard heat.

Not My name, That is what they call it, Mornings they have what looks like approximately 15 types of coffee. Then on the alternating day I get coffee at the 7-Eleven and they have been featuring Nicaragua single-origin coffee.
This link gives the different ones that have been featuring. Since 2016, 7‑Eleven has introduced four Rainforest Alliance Certified coffees – Nicaragua, Mexico, Peruvian and Colombian, all responsibly grown. Single-origin 100 percent Colombian Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee is now a permanent offering and top-seller on the hot beverage bar.

I did not know dogs did that, I did think it was interesting OTOH

Nope the Hepa Filter device is something we inherited from Mom. She always referred to it as a fan, I'm not sure why ?

I doubt that You or I will be here unless medical research makes a giant breakthrough. Come on breakthrough

I try and find good stuff, Apparently I am succeeding, Thank You for the feedback.

Yuck, I hate the stuff that a person has to drink for that test.

    Good Luck with it.

Hi. Jan - the tea room tea and food sounded lovely. Roger- Yes—my doggos go out of their way when I’m not feeling well...that compassion is a big reason i love them so. My duct cleaning was a disaster...rude jerk...one guy had pood (yes, BM) in the van and dumped it on my driveway. The leader chastised him in arabic while hitting him. Minutes after starting work he wanted an additional $600. I saud no, just do what you think already clnes with the $525 package i had bought ($100 groupon). Originally they said it was a 3 to 4 hour cleaning. He called me a liar and mocked and mimicked me. I told them to secure my system and fet iff my property. It was horid. Initially they left the poo...but later it was gone. I got my money back but my ducts still need cleaning. Work had another reorganization...i have boxes in two departments...but the new guy who now supervises ehat i think is my primary job says thats a mistake and im in the other group. Nooo! Sign. Hurray for Friday!
