Lucky me...the sun melted away most of the snow on the driveway and sidewalk(even though it's freezing out there), so I don't even have to go out at all. It's a nice warm sunshine. :)
Roger, yes, I'm sure I could use pumpkin or some other squash or even sweet potatoes in that soup. I love soup in cold weather. :)
I'm starting to get back to normal...it'll probably take a few days. I really don't handle medicines well. I think it sort of shocks my system, and causes strange reactions. It will be better as the achiness eases up.
Puttering around the house. Scheduled a purple heart pickup for Thursday, so getting things ready to give away.
    Happy Sunday. :)

    Hi Vix
It does sound as if You lucked out that way. Our sidewalks are cleaned and dry where we shoveled them.
When I was walking I could see where they had been cleaned vs the untouched which had 2 or 3 inches of snow on them. The footing was OK today and was better than yesterday.

I am glad to hear that You are feeling better now that You are off of the medicines. How nice of You to be donating to that organization.

    Have a Great Monday

    Good morning;
It is currently 14 degrees and I am contemplating going out. I need to pick up some more frozen veggies. I am doing well staying on track, but have been a little hungry between feedings. I am glad this is only for one week and then I can add in the extra proteins.
I am only going to weigh on Saturdays, as that is the day I started back 100%.
We still have a covering of snow on the driveways and streets. It has been too cold to melt.
By Wednesday it will be in he 40's and raining, so that should get rid of some of the snow.
Vix-I am glad you are starting to feel back to normal.

    Good morning.
It was 12 here when we left for the gym. I went swimming. It was nice, the water relatively warm. :) It's supposed to be back in the 30s tomorrow and gradually up to 60 by Thursday, then cooling off again. Really not too bad for winter. Nothing else planned for today. So either puttering or I may find a reason to go out later. I can always run some errands.
    Enjoy your day. :)

hi everyone well we got about a half a foot of snow poor George had to shovel both houses so he sure got his exercise. Well we really are moving along with the painting and hanging pictures it is amazing what a difference a couple of pictures make. I am really happy how everything is coming along both bathrooms are totally finished and the laundry room. Roger I don't plan on getting a front loader washing or drying machine I read that they have a lot of problems I just want one that washes and dryes my clothes nothing fancy. Jo I never cared for the shakes I liked the strawberry but then they went and changed it I don't like the new ones I tried I add ice and still didn't like them don't know about the bars I haven't tryed them Vix now that you are off all the meds maybe you will start to feel better. I skipped our walk today I was just to tired I will probably go tomorrow.i

    Good morning!
Irene, cleaning out is a lot of work, good for you. and running up and down the stairs is a lot of exercise! Moving is a great opportunity to give away a lot of unused but useful items. Amvets is one of several that I used when I cleaned out my old house. (We had accumulated a lot, we had been there 30 years).
It's 19 degrees at the moment, but expected to go up to 34 today....a heat wave! :smirk:
Clay group today for me. Going to put up a crock pot this morning with some beef stew and turn it on low.
Have a great day, everyone. :)

    Hi
I went out my walking Today for 8,432 steps + 1 cent. Yesterday I did some more walking indoors and I am ended up with almost 11 K of steps. The temperature was showing 9 degrees this morning and that was on the closed in porch that gets some warmth through the wall of the house and runs warmer than outdoors. The footing was OK until the last block approaching the house where I had a foot slip on the Packed snow twice, No fall luckily.

I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some Large Curd Cottage Cheese. That gave me a chance to warm up before heading for home.

    Have a Great Tuesday

    Hi Joanne
It was still cold out this morning too.
I am hoping that the Roads are OK in the morning as I need to get out for the exact same thing, Frozen vegetables from CostCo in may case, However I may wait until Thursday. I still weigh everyday, OTOH day to day fluctuations do not worry me, I do it to get quicker feedback with weight trends vs what I am eating as I experiment with non NS foods. I am always looking for items that will work and not cost me more to add variety. I delayed my next delivery the 3 months maximum since I can always shorten the interval as needed and Between the foods I add and the A La Carte NS items I need more time. For Example in the hot foods the Blueberry Waffles and Pancakes from the dollar store work for me and at $0.33 a serving the price is right. Then the Cold Cereals I alternate with the Frozen Breakfast Entrees also require me to extend the next delivery as do the Frozen Lean Cuisine Dinner Entrees.

    Good Luck Saturday

    Hi Irene
The reported problems with front loaders is one of the reasons My Brother & I did not want them either. It is easier to leave the lid up on a top loader and not intrude on the floor space than it would be with a front loader. A front loader Dryer does not bother me however as we have had a Top loader Washer and Front loader dryer for many, many years.

You have more snow than I did. Fortunately the snow was a nice light weight snow.

I liked the old no discontinued NS Protein shakes and the price was good, The new shakes are neither tasty or inexpensive :(

I did find that the Insulated Boots help and that the Heated Mittens work much better at keeping my hands warm compared to last years with out the heat. Last Year I was using the one time open and shake to heat packets. These have a higher up front cost, OTOH I am pretty sure that they cost to charge is low and since I am using them every day...

Our sidewalks and the streets are hit or miss for condition.

    Have a Nice Day

Hi, It warmed up to 31 this afternoon, and supposed to get even warmer overnight, which is good because we're expecting some precipitation.
I braised the meat before putting it in the crock pot, but the pot heats it up fine...I leave it cook for at least 6 hours (when I use low). Today, I added some frozen broccoli when I got home, so I'm leaving it on about an extra hour. It's actually healthier to cook your meat at lower temperatures. If you put meat with bones in the crock pot and let it cook all day, it usually gets so soft it falls off the bone. Great for stews.

    Hi all,
We still have quite a bit of snow.
Irene-good luck cleaning out the attic. Do you have stairs up to the attic? When we moved into this house we only had access through an opening in a closet. My husband put pull down stairs in the upstairs hallway. It is so much easier to get things up and down now.
Roger-I saw an advertisement for a heated jacket. I will try and find the link and post it for you.
Vix-I love beef stew. I make it both ways, the crock pot and on top of the stove.
    Have a good evening. :)

good morning, I got a lot done yesterday but I still have a lot to do in the attic . I have 2 large bags to donate I will drop them off this morning . I think if I do it one day a week it won't be so hard I have boxes that I haven't gone threw since we moved 14 years ago so I have a lot of work ahead of me. We do have stairs so that does make it easier,I did get in all my steps yesterday.I actually slept in this morning till 5am George took Annie by hiself I am sure I will get my steps in . The weather here is like 44 but it is raining but at least it isn't turning into ice.My plans for today is get my hair colored and cut I always fill better after I get it done. Vix the stew sounds good I love having soup or stew when it is cold outside.

    Good morning!
It's 37 here this a.m. Looks like it may have rained a little overnight, else the little bit of snow left melted.
Irene, you're doing good. I was giving things away for a year while we were getting ready to sell our old house...it's easier to do it a little bit at a time. I'm trying not to accumulate so much here.
Jo, we have an opening to our attic through the garage...no stairs, we'd need a ladder. However, we will probably never use it for storage because it's filled with all sorts of beams and supports. It's good to have a handy husband. :)
Roger, hope your ice is gone so you can have a safer and hopefully warmer walk.
Off to body flow class this morning.
    Have a great day. :)

    Hi
I went out for my walk today for 8,516 steps, yesterdays 1 cent was the first money I found this year while walking.

Later on The bank so I have the $ to go to CostCo for frozen vegetables, Apples, and a case(s) of protein shakes depending on flavors :)

    Have a Great Wednesday

It was a comparatively balmy compared to the last two days 45 degrees this morning.
The walk was more comfortable, no money I I did hit a few slippery spots where the snow had been packed down into ice and not melted away by the overnight rain and warming.

Have a Good day and enjoy the Body Flow class

    Hi Joanne
The pull down stairs is what my Brother had in his old house. I never liked them FWIW. That is one reason I am happy that the house has real stairs to the attic. In Your case the pull down is a lot better than a opening in the closet. I have seen those in home improvement type shows and they are not handy in any way.

A heated jacket, hmmm... OTOH on a cold day where I put on a thermal over the t-shirt followed by two sweatshirts and a then a hoodie does help burn more calories due to the extra weight ?

    Cheers

    Hi Irene
By the time I was up and looking out the window at 6AM the rain had moved out. However with the wind I did need to put the hoodie up despite the temperature. I woke up around 2AM and I could hear the rain hitting the Window AC so they must have been fair sized drops.

My brother has a simple system these days. If he hasn't used it in years out it goes. Garbage or charity bins depending on what it is. We had to spend money on 1-800-Got-Junk last week to get rid of a Dead TV, Old monitor and broken printers as the county currently has no system for recycling electronics :( OTOH it did give us a excuse to also clean out a bunch of junk from the Shed out back and a bunch of old VHS tapes. There seems to be no demand for VHS tapes anymore. Oh well.

    Have a Good Day

Walk of death? Florida is the most dangerous place for pedestrians

    BY ANA VECIANA-SUAREZ
    aveciana-suarez@miamiherald.com
    Walkers, it's dangerous out there.
With pedestrian fatalities at a 10-year high, Florida leads the way among the seven most dangerous metropolitan communities to walk around in the country. Though South Florida didn't crack the top 10, Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach came in at a not-so-respectable 11th, according to the Dangerous by Design report released by Smart Growth America, a Washington D.C.-based organization that advocates for walkable cities.

Cape Coral-Fort Myers claimed the top spot, followed by Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Jacksonville, Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach, Lakeland-Winter Haven, and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater. North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton placed 10th. An interactive map on Smart Growth’s website shows the most dangerous spots in those metro areas.

The report ranks the 104 largest metro areas in the country, as well as every state by a “Pedestrian Danger Index,” or PDI, which factors in the share of commuters who walk to work, along with the most recent data on pedestrian deaths. Rankings are based not on the total number of fatalities but on population size, the number of people who commute on foot and the number of fatalities.

In Florida, during the 10-year period ending in 2014, 5,142 people were killed by a car while walking. In South Florida, the toll was 1,508.

The rest of the country didn't do much better. The total number of pedestrians killed in the same 10 year period was 46,149. Between 2005 and 2014, Americans were 7.2 times more likely to die as a pedestrian than from a natural disaster. In 2014 alone, an average of 13 people were struck and killed by a car every day while walking.

    Good evening;
Roger-congrats on your first find of the year. :)
It reached the 50's here today and most of the snow has melted. We had rain overnight and will have rain again tonight, so I suspect the snow to be all gone.
My son sent me a box of chocolates from England. Of course I had to sample a few, so I skipped my afternoon nutricrush bar. I was doing so good, I have no will power. :(
    Have a good evening. :)

    Hi Joanne
Better Your Chocolates sampling than my Chinese Take Out lunch special that My brother brought home today. I expect a large weight gain from the sodium and the Carbs in the White Rice. Either one of those will cause me to retain water, together Yikes :(

When I left the house on my walk I did hit a few spots where the packed snow was still slippery, Later when I drove to post office, bank and CostCo in the car things were pretty dry, just that quick. I left the House at 9:30 and was checked out and heading for the for the door at CostCo at 10:02, They had just opened the doors when I got there at 9:50AM :)

That is the way to handle it the chocolates. I will be eating light tonight and skipping my Afternoon Snack and evening dessert to get started.

    Have a nice day

Thanks, I saved the link to the desktop for now. I just got a new toy in today I am playing with. It is a Marantz Professional PMD-300CP | Dual Cassette Player & Digital Recorder with USB Output
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EYKBNYS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have downloaded their capture software, "EZ Vinyl Tape Converter". Which I am familiar with as it appears to be the same software supplied by Ion for their Turntable with USB port as well as Right & Left audio outputs. Currently I am testing it with a capture from a audio cassette I made back in the 70s.

They cancelled class at the last minute again this morning...the weather was fine, but schools were closed, must have been bad in the northern part of the county. I'll have to just start checking school closings instead of the gym site. Anyway, got some errands done, and we went looking at chairs. Ours don't seem to be so comfortable any more. Also went for acupuncture, so am now nice and relaxed.
I will be going for a girls' night out tomorrow, so will hit the temptation and unsanctioned food issues. I'll try to keep as close to plan as possible. It's really hard.
The couple of times I've been to Florida lately we stayed in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Guess we're lucky we didn't get run over! haha.
Have a good night, everyone. :)

    Hi Vix
That sounds like a plan, I hate wasting time going somewhere that is closed.

I suspect that Padded chairs wear out just like mattresses do and I have also noticed that with less padding due to weight loss that wooden chairs are not as comfortable either :)

Good Luck with the Food Issues.

It is 60 degrees today. :) All the snow is gone. I didn't do any damage eating the chocolates yesterday. I got right back on track today.
We are getting a visit from the president of the company tomorrow. We have had specialists and a lot of other workers from other stores all this week in order to make sure everything is perfect. I will be glad when tomorrow is over.
    Enjoy your evening. :)
