Slower Weight loss at 50?

Good morning;
Roger-That is interesting about the skittles. I know at work we have recycle bins that we put all out of code products, spoiled fruit and veggies, bakery items in. A farmer comes 3 times a week and picks up the bins. I was told it was used to feed the pigs and cows.
I thought SS checks came on the 3rd of the month? Does it differ from state to state? I remember my mother getting hers on the 3rd of the month.
I am glad you are feeling better and were able to get out for a walk.
We are going out to lunch at Cheesecake factory with an old childhood friend of my husbands.
I looked up the menu on line and didn't see much that was diet friendly. I will probably stick with a garden salad, no dressing and see if they will grill me a plain chicken breast. I do not want to start down the slippery slope of getting off track. Wish me luck.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Good morning.
Roger, glad you're feeling better.
A little food soapbox statement you don't have to read (I'm just venting):sounds like cruelty to cows....what a lousy diet....they should be able to eat grass and hay as they were meant to do. No wonder they need antibiotics.Jo, have fun and good luck at the Cheesecake factory...that's a tough one for diets.
Anyway, another gray/foggy/rainy day here.
Have a good Sunday, everyone.

I get my Social Security on the second Wednesday & my brother gets his on the third Wednesday of the month. When You get your check these days depends on when You started collecting. I believe that at one time it was always the first of the month.
From Here
https://socialsecurityinfo.areavoices.com/2016/12/05/social-security-payment-schedule-for-2017/
Social Security checks used to arrive on the same day each month. That isn’t true anymore. Now, they arrive on one of four days in the month. Checks now come on the third of the month and on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month.
With several exceptions, now Social Security payment dates are based on the number holder’s (NH) date of birth.
Yours is not the only store that does that. I also know that some commercial bakeries do that too.
I also saw a Italian bread bakery where the day old bread was picked up to be turned into bread crumbs.

Do we even know who owns many of the companies behind the products we buy?
TBH I would not expect them to be diet friendly
Good Luck avoiding the slippery slope

I always read them
As I understand it the Antibiotics are to increase weight quicker rather than being tied to diet. I could also be wrong.
From herehttp://www.sdstate.edu/beef-procedures-antibiotic-use
Why are antibiotics given to cattle? Antibiotics are given to animals that are sick, in order to help relieve the pain and distress due to the illness, help the animal feel better, and recover. Antibiotics may also be given to animals that are in danger of becoming sick in order to prevent the illness or infection from happening in the first place. Just like in people, however, antibiotics do not have any effect on diseases of animals that are caused by viruses or parasites, or other germs besides bacteria. Some antibiotics, for reasons that aren't totally understood, help cattle grow faster and get more out of the feed they eat. These medicines are used at lower concentrations than when they are used to treat illness, and typically are included in the food that cattle eat. The decision whether to use such products for this use (or any other reason) rests with the individual cattle raiser. Not all of them choose to use antibiotics in this manner.
Sound like a familiar side effect in people too?
Not good weather headed our way
Roger0 -
Roger, that's a more rounded/complete answer than what I had read. I read that the better raised cattle were only given antibiotics when ill, but other farmers were using the antibiotics in a preventive capacity because their diets are not what they need to keep healthy. (Also included in what you found as prevention.)
Many of the doctors and researchers are now saying that the overuse of antibiotics (in animals and people) is causing many of the superbugs that are resistant to the antibiotics that we currently have. Germs evolve...they have actually tracked the changes in some germs photographically (for anyone who does not believe in evolution in general).0 -
Good morning, Roger I am glad you are feeling better I am the same way it takes me a while to recover from colds and stuff. I did get out for our walk only did a short one the wind was up but I did get 5 k steps in I will get the rest in today. Jo I found the vanilla cup cake protein shake yesterday it was pretty good.0
-
Good morning;
Irene-I am glad you liked the vanilla cupcake shake. I just bought the cookies and cream one.
It is a little too sweet for me. I think I will stick to the vanilla.
I don't think I did too much damage yesterday at the Cheesecake factory. I had 1/2 turkey sandwich and a mixed green salad. I forgot to say no mayo on the sandwich though, and I resisted temptation and didn't have any cheesecake.
My daughter came over last night to watch the football game and brought teriyaki salmon and brown rice and veggies. I am up a few lbs this morning, so today I am drinking lots of water to flush out all the extra sodium.

Hi
I walked today for 6.5K Steps, I am feeling somewhat better. The temperature was 43 degrees. It is a gloomy looking day and the forecast for a Nor'easter appears to be starting to happen
It started misting while I was out and slowly getting heavier, Not too bad yet. There is a breeze with increasing gusts of wind.
I think I've lost my Marbles just like that trucker I posted about, Going out into the start of a Nor'easter. Fortunately It has slowed down and the brunt of it will be arriving later than originally forecast.
Have a Great Monday
Roger

A Truck Driver Has Lost His Marbles --
All 38,000 Pounds Of Them
Oh no.

Rebecca Shapiro Senior Editor, The Huffington Post
Clean up on I-465.
A truck carrying 38,000 pounds of marbles lost its trailer in Indianapolis on Saturday morning, causing the contents to spill onto the highway and shoulder near Pendleton Pike.
No injuries were reported, and the lost marbles brought a pop of color to an otherwise bleak winter’s day.
Indiana State Police public information officer Sgt. John Perrine tweeted a photo of the accident:
#Breaking A truck driver has lost his marbles...
Literally, 38,000 pounds of them on I-465 SB at the 41mm

One lane of the highway remained closed for hours as crews cleaned up the mess.

Hi Vix
I had heard that about the overuse of Antibiotics in animals contributing, Parents insisting on them when their kids are sick is also contributing.
I see lots of weird or not commonly know facts as my brother keeps me updated on that type of thing.
Good Luck with the Nor'easter

Hi Irene
I have been sampling the Wonderslim Shake/Puddings. It was $12.95 for a 7 pack. It is a Protein shake or pudding depending on how much water You use. A Interesting concept.
WonderSlim Meal Replacement Diet 15g Protein Shake & Pudding Mix - Variety Pack (7 Servings/Box)
and
WonderSlim Meal Replacement Diet 15g Protein Smoothie Mix - Strawberry Yogurt (7 Servings/Box)
The good, they are better tasting and less expensive that the NS Turbo Shakes. The Bad, They are not as tasty IMO or as inexpensive as the Discontinued NS Protein Shakes were.
My Distance is still down as I was not walking for a while so I am easing back into walking and today the wind and light drizzle.
Have a Good Day

I would not be surprised if You were up due to water weight from two sodium bombs yesterday. IMO a lot of the Turkey served out there has salt added for taste and the Teriyaki Salmon
Good Luck with the flushing, It always takes me a couple of days to recover

We are having some crazy weather. First it started with a light rain, then it stopped. Next we had light snow flakes, then heavier ones, then the sun came out. It was sunny and snowing at the same time, now it is snowing again. It is not sticking, the ground is only wet.0
-
jo I will have to look for the other ones.Roger I don't care for the turbo shakes. Jo a couple of weeks ago I went to the cheesecake factory I found the food to be very good but not good for our diets0
-
Hi all....still raining here, and a little windy.
Went swimming this a.m. Had a wierd encounter with an ex-co-worker at the gym. She always was a little strange! haha.
Made some hummus. Took care of some appts for the week. Will probably putter around the house the rest of the day, maybe catch up with some friends.
Jo, sounds like you did pretty well at CF...it always takes me a few days to normalize after eating out too.
Roger, glad you're back on your feet! I tend to check the science news a lot. I find it interesting.
Hi Irene. When were you planning to move? Is it soon or are you waiting til summer?
Enjoy your day.0 -

Hi Irene
I bought them from Amazon and the assortment was to avoid having a box or more of a flavor I did not like.
Cheers

Hi Vix
If I said we have all worked with strange people on occasion. The worst ones I dealt with were actually retain customers and coworkers that were alcoholics.
Is the Wind increasing where You are too?
Have a nice Day

Hope everyone survived the storm jersey didn't get it as bad as some places. Hi
I was out walking for 8K Steps, It was a little funny too, when I got home and looked at the FitBit it was showing 8,000 steps on the nose The temperature was 37 degrees. It is a gloomy looking day and misting while I was out and slowly getting heavier, Not too bad. There is a Moderate breeze and it appears that except for a brief power outage the Nor'easter had little effect here. The Brooks are running strong and somewhat over their banks.
Have a Great Tuesday

Hi Irene
We had some rain and wind yesterday, It tapered off during the evening. The Power was out approximately 10 minutes here. Long enough to be a nuisance, The power was back in time for me to microwave my frozen portions of dinner. If it had stayed off I thinking Diner to avoid opening the freezer and refrigerator. I hope Your came back at a reasonable time.
Lots of small branches down in the area and the Brooks are running high.
Good Luck at the Doctors
Roger0 -
Good morning;
Irene and Roger-I am glad you survived the storm. We had high winds and rain most of the night. The wind has calmed down, but it is still raining pretty hard. It was trash pick up today and recyclables. We didn't put out our recyclables because of the high winds. We put the trash in an old barrel in case it blew away. I found it in the neighbor's yard and filled it half way with all the recyclables that blew into my yard. One of our trees out back lost a few branches.
Today was our department manager's last day. He is retiring. It looks like we won't have a replacement for a couple of weeks.
Stay dry and enjoy your day.0 -
Hi, went to play with clay this morning. Glad you all survived the storm. Our weather has been relatively mild. Still mostly cloudy, gray and overcast today, though the sun peeked out a couple of times.
Hope all went well at the Drs today, Irene.
Jo, it's very annoying when the trash blows around. Good luck at work.
Roger, glad you are feeling better and getting to go out on your walks again.
Enjoy the rest of the day.0 -
good morning, Vix all is good the Drs visit was a happy one all the breathing test were good I still will be using my inhaler and nose drops until the cough is totally gone. Roger did you like the shakes from amazon? Tomorrow I go to the dentist for teeth cleaning I need to take meds from now on so I don't get an infection never really knew this before.0

Hi
I was out walking for 8.1K Steps + 1cent, It was a little funny too, when I was a block from home on the inbound leg of the walk was when I found the Penny. The temperature is 36 degrees. The big round shiny thing in the sky has made one of its rare appearances
Have a Great Wednesday

Hi Joanne
I'm glad to hear that it was not worse.
I have been using the Foam NS containers to hold Things going to the curb when I have one to use.
I suspect that things will change at work, whether for the better or worse, Who knows.
Good Luck with work

Hi Vix
Some days when the wind is high on Garbage or Recycle day I see Cans blowing around. Those are the days I keep an ear peeled and am out the door to retrieve ours when they pick up to prevent that from happening
Not as happy as I am that I am feeling better
Have playing with the clay
