good morning, Roger we are looking at above ground with a deck in ground pools are really pricey I think if we were in an area where we could use it year round we might consider it . No work for me Amazon has closed for the day shift but night shift has work so far. I didn't use any of my time since they closed so I can use my time for another day.I slept in to 5 am but didn't want to sleep any longer or I won't sleep tonight . Our weather out side is freezing rain but we did get a lot of snow George was at it for 2 hours before he went to work. The city all has work because of the police if they shut down the city has to give an extra day to them so everyone still has work.My plans today is just to take it easy. Stay safe everyone

    Good morning.
Roger, it sounds like we are getting very similar to yours. It started as a mix of rain and snow last night, continued all night, every so often sounds like ice pellets hitting the house, now looks like very fine snow or sleet. I'm glad it's not as much as predicted...so far it looks like about 6 inches with some higher drifts, another 1-3 expected today. It's 28 here, expected high of 35. Of course all the schools, etc are closed. I was planning to stay in. :smirk:
Stay safe and warm, everyone and have a happy Tuesday. :)

    Good afternoon;
We have heavy wet snow and a lot of wind with very poor visibility. Snow started around 8am and will change to sleet later today.
I worked 4-10:30. There were not a lot of cars on the road. I did see a car pulled over to the side of the road. As I went past I noticed the left front of the car was all smashed in. I didn't see any other car or anything that the car could of hit. I wonder if it was a hit and run?
Roger-Congrats on finding 11 cents. I am sorry you didn't get to go for your walk.
I hope no one loses power.
    Stay safe and warm.

Take care and be safe. :)

Pretty tranquil here now. There is still mostly cloud cover, but there is sunshine at the western horizon. The wind has died down to a breeze with a few gusts, and all is well.
Jo, glad it is easing up for you too. The roads are cleared. Tomorrow should be almost back to normal.
Have a good night, everyone. :)

good morning,I stayed home again today everything is all ice .George took huge pieces of ice from our driveway so he could go to work.I will make up the time on Friday or they can take the hours out of my bank I actually have a lot of time I have like 108 hours .I was just not going to drive with all the ice on the road . We had a lot of rain and then with the temp dropping last night everything is a solid sheet of ice.So today I plan on doing some house work I already started the laundry I normally do it on Friday but since I will probably be at work I better do it today. Jo glad you made it home safe.

    Good morning.
Irene, nice that you can stay home and avoid the ice.
It's just a little icy here, schools delayed 2 hours, so it should be fine by this afternoon before I have to go anywhere. (I have an appt with the functional medicine dr today). It's gray and overcast so far this morning, 19 with a high of 28 today and windy. Looks like it should start warming up again by Friday. The birds are enjoying all the seeds hubs puts out for them. They are so pretty.
Have a good day, stay safe and warm. :)

    Hi
I went out walking today and hit 4.1K steps, The temperature was 21 degrees Vs 29. Due to road and sidewalk conditions I did not go as far as I had hoped to go. The street in front of the house is Decent, However as I went further out the streets had icy patches, especially at the Intersection. sidewalks where they had been shoveled were worse and at corners access to them was often blocked by piles of snow from the Plowing.

The lowered snow amounts are due to the storm tracking further west than what they originally thought it would do and that puts us on the warmer side of it. The good and the bad of that is that where I am we ended up with less snow. However it was a heavy snow and a pain to shovel, especially as we went back and forth from rain, sleet, and Snow. North NJ had depths of snow up to 19 inches, parts of Southern NJ had minimal snow and parts of NY state had 2+ feet of the white stuff :)

I suspect that with the rain hitting the snow off and on we ended up with 5 +/- inches of super heavy snow that has slush at the bottom. We even had a puddle at the bottom of the driveway for a while.

Today is clean the Bathroom ahead of the St Patty's day company. The Bath mat is already in the washer and The Disposable Rubber gloves laid out for the rest of the cleaning along with a old kitchen dish sponge for scrubbing whatever needs it. I have been procrastinating doing it :( Inertia can be a killer that way.

    Have a Good Wednesday

    Hi Irene
Freezing Rain is not good. The reason for a above Ground pool makes sense to me. In Ground or above ground they both need maintenance and supplies so no savings that way.

Good News that You saved the day due to their closing.

I was out for a short walk what with the icy patches and Wind Chill :)
I kicked a a chunk of Snow on the road while walking. It was hard as a rock and frozen to the ground too. I think this stuff will take a while to melt away given the weather forecasts I have seen for the next few days.

    Stay Safe

I should go out with the yard stick and see how much snow we did get :)
I also need to see if I can dig out the car, I suspect that the Snow may be frozen hard that is on it.

    Hi Joanne
So far so good, Knock Wood. Of the three state metropolitan areas NJ had the most outages at over 10,000. According to last nights news a quarter million people along the east coast lost power due to the storm.

I have a suspicion that Your area had worse snow than my part of NJ.

    It was windy here too.
I saw on the Morning news that some people can not get out with their cars to go to work due to their complex still not having been plowed. I Walked past a apartment complex while I was out an they were struggling to clear the sidewalks despite using a snowblower and shovels. News this morning indicates that some people lost fingers using their snow blowers :(

    Have a Nice Day

    Good afternoon;
We got about 8 inches of snow. My daughter stayed over at our house. She got an email from the condo assoc. that they would not be able to plow until 10pm.
Good thing hubby has a snow thrower, because the snow was really heavy. The roads were all clear when I went to work at 6am.

    Hi
I went out walking today and hit 7.4Ksteps, The temperature was 23 degrees Vs 21. Due to road and sidewalk conditions I did not go as far as I had hoped to go. OTOH I did go further than yesterday. The street in front of the house is Decent, However as I went further the same streets that had icy patches still had them in the same spot. I did manage to find a safe route to go further however.

Yesterday I also pulled most of the basement freezer and used a large Putty knife to scrape the frost that had formed in the freezer and dumped it in the sink to melt. So I am ready for the delivery today. I have the Baskets I use all set to go in the living room and the clipboard so I can check in the order :)

    Have a Good Thursday

    Hi Joanne
Our Snow was heavy too. Then Tuesday We shoveled the sidewalks and 1/2 of the driveway nice and clean. Then yesterday we shoveled out and cleaned off my car which was both heavy and due to the crust on the snow that had formed overnight was a chore too. So of course yesterday afternoon it snowed a little bit and left a 1/2 inch on the cars and parts of the driveway, Probably due to our having everything nice and snow free :)
When I came back from walking I broomed off the Sidewalk and my car. Naturally the way things work there is a bit of ice all over the car and I did spread ice melt on the sidewalk to the street since I had a call yesterday around 1:15PM that the frozen portion of my order had shipped.

There were complexes in the northern portion of the state that still had not plowed yesterday morning despite the snow having fallen the day before.

    Have a Nice Day

    Hi Vix
The Wind Chill was better than yesterday here, OTOH there still is some of it hanging in.
I saw the weather forecast where we get all the way up to 35 degrees today, well under the normal high in the 50s for this time of year.

I turned on the oven before going walking and roasted some Sweet Potatoes as my brother plans to make a Sweet Potato Pie and one other flavor for tomorrow St. Patrick's Day Dinner. We invited a neighbor to join us too. the $1.88 a pound Corned Beef in waiting to be cooked and in a to heck with the diet for the day as I know the sodium and carbs will have me retaining water I also told him to get a loaf of Irish Soda Bread for Fridays meals too.

I have a Green hat with a hat band saying Happy St. Patrick's Day for tomorrows walking :)

    Enjoy Your Painting

Roger-Even though the customers are nicer at the other store it is father away. Currently it is 5 miles for me to get to work and no highways. The other store is about 30 minutes away and part of that is highway driving.
Irene-10 hour shifts are long, even if you are busy. I usually start to get tired around the 7th hour. If I go more than 8 my brain turns to mush. :p
Vix-12-18 in. of snow for us with wind gusts of 50 mph starting tomorrow morning. I am only working 4 hours tomorrow. I plan on going in at 4 and leave by 8. I can then watch the snow from the comfort of my house.
Have a good day and stay safe. :)

    Hi Joanne
I understand that. One of the things I liked when I switched from driving for a living to working inside on computers was being able to stand inside looking out at bad weather. I include Rain, Snow, Heat or Cold in that category FWIW.

Stay safe in the snow, Jo. The bulk of ours is supposed to be overnight, so I guess it's hitting here first. I just pulled my car into the garage really close to hubs', so he can get the snow blower out, but I doubt he could get into his car. I doubt we'll be going anywhere. ;)

    Hi Vix
Southern NJ us in a sleet and Rain mic currently. That makes me wonder what You are getting since they did not do a good job with the forecast :(

    Hi
I went out walking today and hit 8.4Ksteps, The temperature was 30 degrees Vs 23. Yesterday I was at 11.5K steps by days end despite a lower step count while walking. The streets and Sidewalks were decent. While I am walking I have not seen nearly as many joggers or walkers since the Snow fell. I have seen a few people walking their dogs.

There is supposed to be rain or snow or a mix moving into the area tonight into tomorrow :(

Up early and cleaning, the downstairs bathroom, my desk and 1 closet completed so far.
I stopped to take a break and eat my breakfast. I poured my oatmeal into the bowl and promptly knocked it on the floor, good thing I hadn't added the water yet. It was an easy clean-up.

It is nice and sunny today but still cold. The sun is glistening off the snow.
Tonight we are going to an MG car function, dinner and an auction. Hubby just joined the club so we will be meeting these people for the first time.

I went out walking today and hit 8.14Ksteps, The temperature was 32 degrees Vs 30. The road and sidewalk conditions
I overindulged in the Corned Beef & Cabbage yesterday, As well as Boiled Potatoes and Gravy, Home Made Beer Bread, Some Irish Soda Bread and Home Made Pies, Sweet Potato Pie and Pecan Pie, with Homemade Whipped Cream. As a result I am up almost 5 pounds of Water Weight today and probably a slight weight gain that I will have to work on :(

The forecast today is for Rain, Snow or a Mix depending on where You are in the Metropolitan area. I did see a few stray snow flakes while walking.

    Have a Nice Weekend

A pedometer is the main use I get from my low end FitBit :)

So far every day the roads and sidewalks have looked better following the snowfall. I hope today we only get the rain and things continue to improve. I would hate to see all the cleared surfaces get icy.

    Hi Joanne
Hmmm... Could be worse and could be water weight, at my most sedentary and overeating I could not have put that much weight on in a week. I suspect much of it is water weight.

After Yesterdays 2:30 overeating at Lunch with a a neighbor I had a Apple & a Tangerine with a Protein Shake for Dinner. Tomorrow whatever of the Two Corned Beef are left they will be portioned up and Vacuum sealed for later usage. Why two? They were $1.88 a pound on sale and We ended up picking up four. My Brother Soaked them in water to reduce the sodium level and then Boiled one and Baked one :) To me they both tasted the same.
My plan for the Vacuum Sealed portions is 4 ounces per package and use that over two days as 50 calories and 275g of sodium per ounce along with a 60 calorie wrap for a SC + PF. Hopefully the soaking reduced the Sodium level.

Good morning. Cloudy here and 36 with a high of 51 for today, 40% chance of rain.
Jo, my brother used to have an MG midget when I was in high school a zillion years ago. I remember he used to push it down the hill and jump in to get it started! It was a cool car, other than that. I guess he didn't want to pay to get it fixed! The club sounds like fun, have a great time. :)
One of the politicians got criticized for saying top of the morning when meeting with Irish diplomats. The news said it wasn't an Irish saying. It was in a lot of old movies!
Roger that sounds like some feast! I think our bodies get more sensitive as we get more accustomed to lighter food. I don't know what I'm going to do today to get some exercise.
We walked around the mall yesterday, and I found a organic food store. Good find! They have local produce and meats, and a good variety of more healthy processed foods.
Irene, hope you're enjoying your weekend in Browns Mill.
    Happy Saturday, everyone.
