And even more humor posted today and I reposted yesterdays humor as I did not see it today, I wonder if I only previewed it or MFP oopsed it?

    Hi
I have walked 4400 Steps during the morning walk. The temperature this morning is 75 on the news channel and 75 degrees on the front porch. It is a great looking morning, however it is a bit sticky outdoors. Today is forecast to reach near the 90s, Yuck :(
You may be wondering why only 4400 steps. Later on Yard work and a run to UPS and the recycle center. That shoud give me my exercise for the day.
I ended up walking 10500 steps yesterday.

    From here Picture too.

Cyclops goat born with one eye is worshipped by villagers in India
A baby goat has been born with one eye in what has been hailed a ‘miracle’.

Some villagers believe the goat, that was born in Assam in India, is sacred and have begun to worship it after it was born a week ago.
Vets predicted that the goat, which also only has one ear, would die within a few days but it has defied the odds so far.
People have been visiting the village to see the kid which suffers from a condition seen in other animals including horses, pigs, cows and cats.
The condition which causes the defect is called cyclopia and occurs when the two hemispheres of the brain do not separate

"Fit but fat" may be a myth, study says

The so-called "healthy obese" aren't necessarily as healthy as they think. They still have a higher risk of heart disease than normal-weight people, a new British study finds.

Folks dubbed healthy obese don't have metabolic problems typically associated with obesity -- such as high cholesterol, poor blood sugar control, diabetes or high blood pressure. But, it's been unclear if they are at increased risk for problems such as heart failure or stroke.

In this study, researchers analyzed 1995-2015 electronic health records of 3.5 million people aged 18 and older in the United Kingdom who were initially free of heart disease.

Compared to normal-weight people with no metabolic problems, healthy obese people had a 50 percent higher risk of heart disease, a 7 percent higher risk of stroke, twice the risk of heart failure, and a greater risk of peripheral artery disease (or PAD, which is the narrowing of blood vessels to the arms and legs), the study found.

    Good afternoon;
I just got home from work.
Roger-that is a pretty flower. I am not sure what it is. The thermometer in my kitchen window is reading 103, but I don't think it is that hot. The weather channel says 96.
Vix-Are there awards for the paintings? You can swap out the paintings every few months, so there is always something on display in your house.
Hi Irene-good job on the treadmill.
Enjoy your evening and stay cool! :)
    Hi Joanne
It was 82 degrees in the Living room this morning :( I turned on the AC before I left the house and left doors open so it can cool of the main floor. I think today's running around and yard work will be miserable.

Assembly of a new raised bed and installing freshly painted wood around other areas of the back yard.

It is supposed to cool off this evening, I wish it was earlier however.

    Cheers

Roger, that looks like a clematis...people usually put them next to a trellis so they can climb. Very pretty. :) I do have a few simple exercises I can do at home now, and they will give me a print out before I am done.
Irene, some of the exercises are simple, like standing on one foot for 10 seconds, or just swinging my leg forward sideward and back (the tricky part is keeping my balance.:) )
Jo, they do not have awards for the paintings here, but the county fairs do. I entered a picture last year and may do one again this year....I'll see when the time comes. And I do switch out the paintings in my house. Also need to decide which walls can use additional paintings. :smirk:
It was in the 90s here today too. I mostly stayed in the air conditioning. Art, PT, chiro, and grocery shopping.
Have a good night, everyone. Keep cool!

    Hi Vix
I would have trouble with that exercise too, My balance is not what it was many years ago. That is why I use a walking stick for grade changes :)

Thank You for the Plant information

    Good afternoon;
Irene-I have my elliptical machine facing the window to the backyard, that seem to help me know stay on a little longer as I am thinking about what I can do to the yard.
Vix-I do not have good balance any more. So I am super careful when doing anything that requires any balance. Today, I bent to pick a weed out of my flower bed and If I didn't have a tree to grab on to, I would have fallen over.
Roger-the temp here is 90 with high humidity. I am perspiring just sitting here typing. I have not put the AC on yet. I have all the windows open and there is a slight breeze.
I went to work at 4am. A ended taking a 3 hour nap when I got home. Between the heat and getting up early, I was tired.
Enjoy your evening and stay cool. :)

It was in the 90s again today, but it just rained a bit. Supposed to cool off a little tomorrow. We've put our air conditioning on. I don't like being hot, especially to sleep.
Irene, glad your knee is feeling a little better.
Roger and Jo...you can work on improving your balance if you want. I think it has to do with core strength (that's pretty much the muscle I can't find!) I don't like that I can't do things I could do a couple of years ago, so I continue to try....stubborn! Ha!

I did it again, more new humor

    Hi
I have walked 4100 Steps during the morning walk. The temperature this morning is 60 on the news channel and 62 degrees on the front porch. It is a great looking morning. It is a quite a bit cooler compared to the last three days.
You may be wondering why only 4100 steps today. Later on more Yard work , Finally mow the lawn and the delayed run to UPS and the recycle center. That shoud give me my exercise for the day.
I ended up walking over 8K steps yesterday. I had managed to creep up over my desired 5 pound range from my lowest weight, Going back on NS 100% has cured that and adding in yesterdays working in the sun I was down a half pound today. That puts me at 3.5 pounds up from my lowest weight :)

Tennessee Mother Chases Away Five Suspected Burglars
Posted at 1:29 pm on May 18, 2017 by Erika Haas
    home invasion

A mother in Tennessee was forced to pull out the big guns Monday morning after a home intruder forced his way into her house as four more suspects waited outside.

Elsie Lee, who lives alone with her son, told WJJB TV that she awoke to the sounds of someone inside her house.

“We were asleep, and I thought I had heard something but I wasn’t for sure,” Lee recalled. “I thought I was just dreaming something, and then I heard a big bang again.”

“I got up and came running through the hallway,” she continued. “The guy was standing in the kitchen. He had just busted my door open.”

Lee then reached for her .45-caliber handgun and her shotgun and forced the intruder out of her home.

“I put the gun in his face and asked him if there was something I could do for him, and he was gone just that quick,” Lee told WJJB TV. “I chased him out the back door.”

“I almost killed him,” she added. “One of them could have been dead. Had he not ran, he would have been dead.”

Lee told WJJB TV that the only thought running through her mind that morning was “protect my son.”

Mere minutes after she chased the man away, Madison County police arrived on scene and arrested all five men, one of whom was a minor. Each suspect is being charged with aggravated burglary. None were armed.

Lee couldn’t have been more thankful to the police and how quickly they responded.

“I congratulate our sheriff’s department for what they did,” the mother told WJJB TV. “And it couldn’t have been done any faster or better.”

    Have a Great Weekend

    Hi Irene
It will take time, The key is to not push it and follow the doctors and PT advice.

I would have done a treadmill inside later in the day for the last three days, if I had one of course :)

I have been listening to Audio books while walking. Hercule Poirot by Agatha Christie and Science Fiction by Isaac Asimov lately. That gets me my reading done and not just sitting around to do it.

    Hi Joanne
I have had the same type of balance problems, I blame getting older for them. I am doing better however with the overweight being gone :) I can now bend over and pull weeds.

I would not have slept well without the AC going in that kind of heat. I got lucky, Knock Wood, The Little AC in the basement media room worked when I turned it on Wednesday. That was something I was worried about as finding one to fit that the smallish basement window was tough the last time and I was afraid I might end up with one of those portable ones eating up floor space. The basement does need it as when I have the main computer I use there on it tends to heat up the room.

I am lucky that as long as I stay away from high carbs I can tolerate the heat better than in the past. That is a incentive to stay 100% NS too, especially during the summer.

    Have a Nice Day

    Hi Vix
By core strength do You mean in the Torso area vs Arms and legs?

I find it hard to sleep if it is too hot too. I sleep better under some sort of cover and heat makes that a misery :)

Join the club, I used to handle 64 pound boxes in the 80s and 90s, now, 50 pound boxes are very heavy, the last heavy thing I took to the basement I had to slide down the stairs using friction and the steps to control it.

    Enjoy the Day

    Good morning.
Overcast, but so far getting things done around the house this morning...paying bills, going over bank statement, washing some blankets to put away. Made a list of chores, so will keep busy. :)
Core muscles are in your trunk...mostly lower abdomen, I think. There's a muscle there somewhere they keep trying to get me to work, but it's really hard to isolate. Mostly if I try, other muscles engage. I think I'm almost through with the PT, so I'm trying to get the right muscle working!
    Happy Weekend, everyone.

    Hi
I walked 6630 Steps + 1 beat up penny that was lating in the crossing of a street :) during the morning walk. The temperature this morning is 55 on the news channel and 55 degrees on the front porch. It is a gloom looking morning and it rained overnight with more in the forecast for later on today. I was lucky to get out in between the overnight rain and what is on the way.
I dropped off Five things in the slot in the Post Office before picking up my coffee and I did wear my rain jacket, just in case :)

More Yard work tomorrow and then more rain in the forecast for Wednesday :(

    Hi
I walked 5330 Steps during the morning walk. The temperature this morning is 57 on the news channel and 57 degrees on the front porch. It is a cloudy looking morning and it rained lightly overnight. The plan for today is to get the rest of my walking and exercise doing more yard work. We need to make a run to the recycle yard. More rain in the forecast for Wednesday :(

As I was heading out the door there were two walking appetites AKA Deer trotting down the street in front of the house. That confirmed my suspicions of what had been in the yard nibbling the Lillies in the back yard. One ended up as a mostly bare stem with the flower budds gone. We put a wire cage around the other two and hopefully that will do the job of protecting them.

That was sad news last night about the bombing in Manchester England :(

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – It’s a story almost too strange to be true.
A drunk man passes out and goes for a ride on the trunk of a stranger’s car down a busy Memphis interstate, and neither the drunk man nor the driver knew it.
It’s amazing this man didn’t fall off the car and get run over.
He is lucky to say the least. The man crawled up on the back of the car with a trunk that’s only about 14 inches wide.
He was apparently curled up and passed out. Thankfully an MPD officer spotted him, but not before he went on a ride that he doesn’t remember; a ride the driver will never forget.

It was a raw, wet, chilly day out Monday, More rain on the way for Wednesday too.

Emergency Disposable Rain Ponchos in clear so that the safety vest would show through if I had to use them, I picked the 10 pack as they came in different quantities. I bought these so I could throw one in my pocket as a just in case, Having been caught by rain recently that looked like it had finished. I still plan to wear the regular rain gear if I am sure it will rain :)

Did things look good at the functional Doc ?

    Cheers

Good morning. PT this morning, then off to play with clay.
The functional doc thinks I'm doing ok...it's going to be a long process. I'll go check out the humor. Thanks.

    Good afternoon;
Roger-I live in the next town over from Brockton. It is not a very nice city, lots of crime.
I am not surprised about the Dunkin Donuts being shot at.
My son lives about 1/2 mile from the Manchester arena. They heard the explosion.
Hubby didn't find much metal detecting. In the past he has found as much as $10 in coin.
He usually goes to playgrounds early in the morning.
I also turned on my heat yesterday to take the chill out of the house.
Vix-good news from the functional Dr. :)
    Have a good evening.
